I went to Shiprwreck Point for the first time just a dew weeks ago. I have passed it before and have been hesitant to go in due to how I thought it was a fancy place. However once I went in I saw that I fit in just fine. The staff was very nice and our waiter was very good as well. When I went I wasn’t that hungry due to how I had a late lunch, however the Drunken Scallops and the Wedge Salad was amazing. I will be going back next time I am in Point Pleasant and this time I will go on an empty stomach so that I am able to have a dinner and desert as well. All in all I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for something different then the typical shore food. It is a great atmosphere and the staff was very nice as well will be defiantly be going back soon.

I had the crab cakes which were excellent. Usually when you order crab cakes they tend to put a lot of breadcrumbs but these were outstanding. Lots of lump crabmeat. My husband had the scallops with bacon and that too was amazing. It’s a little pricey but worthy of a special occasion. The service was excellent.

I tried Shipwreck Point as part of Jersey Shore Restaurant Week. They had a great pre fixe menu option of $ 30.15 per person. This included a choice of appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Beverages were not included in the deal and that seemed to be the case across all the participating Restaurant Week menus. I wanted to take advantage of the deal so my girlfriend and I could try different menu options and also try a place that we haven’t been to over the summer. Shipwreck Point is an upscale eatery which features steaks and lobsters. While these weren’t included on the Restaurant Week menu, other patrons ordered both and they looked delicious. The main dining room is a little small which doesn’t allow for much elbow room between tables. Also, since it is small and somewhat crowded, it gets quite loud. They also have an elevated fireplace which was burning on this brisk November night. They provided complementary valet services and a coat check which were both pluses. The dining room and bar area offer views of the inlet so you may see an occasional fishing boat pass by the restaurant. To start, a popover is given to each person. This is a large airy baked bread which comes with a plain or special type of butter. For the appetizer, I ordered the tuna tartar on crostini. This dish was the highlight of the dinner for me. It had a few chunks of garlic and herbs. They only provided one piece of crostini so you couldn’t fit all the tartar on a crostini. My girlfriend got the fall salad. The chopped romain was wrapped inside two long slices of cucumber to make a circle which was a unique presentation. Besides the few bits of corn there wasn’t too much in the salad that made you think of fall but it still was good. I also ordered the Shipwreck Cider cocktail. This was mainly rum and was a bit too sweet for me. I ordered the sirloin medallion for my entrée. The meat was a bit drier than I would have preferred but overall it was ok. It came with a side of mashed potatoes. My girlfriend ordered the chicken stuffed with risotto. For dessert we ordered the strawberry compote and the apple crisp. The compote was basically fresh strawberries with whipped cream over angel food cake. You can give me this summer classic any time of the year and I wouldn’t mind! The apple crisp was like deconstructed apple pie slices topped with oats. Overall, the Shipwreck Point is an upscale dining experience. I would save this restaurant for a fancier night out or to celebrate something as typical prices range from high $ 20s to $ 40 per entrée. The Restaurant Week food was decent and I would return to try some of the different cuts of meat or the lobsters. I would lean more towards a 3.5÷5 stars but I’ll round up to the 4.

First let me say I have been to Shipwreck Point many times. Have raved about this restaurant. Both food and service. Apparently all of my visits were when the previous owners still operated this establishment. I came with a group of 8 for a friends surprise birthday dinner. Upon checking in with the hostess and straightening out a bit of confusion with two reservations under the same name she got our table ready. The new owner immediately and very rudely told us we could not order from the Restaurant week menu. Since our reservation was I guess after 7 pm??? By the way we did not inquire, care or go there for Restaurant week. He made us feel like he thought we could not pay for a full price dinner and could only afford to dine there during Restaurant week. And quite frankly that menu was uninspired. Plain vanilla ice cream for dessert. REALLY!!! After he went off on us about that he turned to me and questioned me about the WRAPPED bottle I had brought as a GIFT for my friend. He proceeded to school me on not opening it and drinking it in the restaurant. REALLY! At this point if we were not waiting for the rest of our party and the guest of honor we would have left. The food. Two guests steaks were over cooked and were sent back. At $ 50 a steak they better be cooked correctly. This is touted as a steakhouse after all. The food came out in dribs and drabs all night. Nobody started or finished eating together . The only reason I gave one star was that the waitresses we had were both great despite the situation. By the way with two dinners sent back you would think the owner would have stopped by the table. Nope! I was completely embarrassed that I suggested Shipwreck Point for this occasion. And for a table of 8 this was not an inexpensive dinner. We will never come here again. Instead we will patronize the previous owners restaurant Shipwreck Grille in Brielle.

So I write this after my meat sweats went away! My girlfriend and I were a little hesitant to go in thinking it was to fancy and the people that were walking in were fancy. But we fit in fine This place just was amazing from the service(think my waitress was Rachel she was damn good) to the food to the atmosphere. So we started off with baked clams with Bacon and lobster mixed in. Great combo to mix around. They are amazing my only complaint is there was only 5 at least make it 6 so each person has the same amount. Just saying … Then my gf had an arugula salad which she said was great I went with a lobster bisque soup which I was ready to lick the plate clean. So main courses come out and my gf had ordered the filet migon and mashed potatoes. She said it melted in her mouth and she didn’t leave any scraps. Me I ordered the cowboy rib eye on the bone. And it was epic I’ve eaten at the old homestead and at carne el vino and Peter Lugers this steak was on par with all they and maybe better it has to much flavor I didn’t put their home made Sauce on which tasted good even on the steak because the flavor was just so amazing. I got it with a twice baked potato. It was huge. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It was a really good dinner and was worth it to come out to Point Pleasant. I wish I had room for dessert next time I am saving room.

We just came from eating at the Shipwreck Restaurant. We had a party of seven and was not advised that this was NOT a child friendly restaurant. We had three young children with us. I had to spend $ 26.00 for my child to eat. The scallops were like eating salt straight out of a salt shaker. The pasta seafood dish was tasteless and dry! The free range chicken was fatty and uncooked. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone! The service was not helpful nor accommodating to our party of seven. Being from Manhattan, I’ve been to many restaurants with the same limited menu with high prices. This was by far the worst restaurant I’ve been to with the worst service.

Eating out for my wife and I, is more the norm than the occasion. That said, I am seldom impressed frequenting many casual and fine dining establishments. SHIPWRECKPOINT not only excelled in food, service, ambiance and surprisingly a fair price point for this excellence, but the pleasure to feel comfortable to dress up, a bit beyond the norm of casual dining that most other shore restaurants entertain. It was our 32nd Year Anniversary. Thank you SHIPWRECKPOINT for making it special!

I joined 3 friends, we dressed up, and took a boat and docked at Point Pleasant, with the intent of having a nice dinner at this restaurant. As we started to go in, the owner came out yelling at us telling us we were not allowed in. We looked at each other thinking that he must think we were someone else, but he just yelled more. We calmly asked why and he threatened to call the police. We walked out and the police happened to be walking up the street. The owner then yelled to the police but the police indicated we were fine and let us go and then proceeded to go see why this owner was so hostile towards its customers. We went elsewhere to have a nice dinner. I don’t know what happened but I recommend staying away from this restaurant. What an experience…

First I want to start out by saying I’ve read through some of the reviews and I’m sitting here shaking my head in disbelief. The location of this restaurant is on the inlet. It’s across the street from the public lot. There is no place for a private parking lot. With that said you have to pay for parking. If you can’t put a few quarters in the meter, then you have no business patronizing this restaurant.(note: one of the times, we went, there was a gentleman outside asking if we were going into the restaurant, and said we did not need to pay for parking and they would be watching and marking our cars.) Service: The second time we went, there were two very large parties going on: the service was on the slow side. When the restaurant cleared up, our waitress«Dotty» did acknowledge and apologize for them being a little slow. Food: The quality and preparation was excellent. Overall: their food and drinks are excellent. The atmosphere is lovely. Tip: visit late afternoon, sit at the bar enjoy drinks and appetizers.

If you want a truly luxurious meal in a upscale restaurant on the water, dine at Shipwreck Point. While there are many steakhouses that claim to make it right, Shipwreck does. Seasonal menus are prepared to your liking and served by experience wait staff that care not only about the food they bring, but the experience you have while dining. I recommend Shipwreck Point highly as Shaina, Rob and Rich pay attention to every detail to make your meal a memorable one!!!

We were looking forward to a nice dinner with old friends at The Shipwreck and made a reservation a week in advance. I gave my phone number to the receptionist who we learned wrote my number down incorrect. When I called to confirm my reservation the day of, I spoke with Rich, apparently the owner. He was beyond rude, aggressive, yelling and accosted me saying I gave them the wrong phone number. He was non-apologetic for the mistake HIS employees made. And then hung up on me. About 10 minutes later the hostess called back to graciously offer us a table at either 5pm or 9pm. We obviously declined after being spoken to so disrespectfully. Please beware, the ownership clearly doesn’t care about customer service and being in the hospitality industry for 18 years this is simply preposterous behavior and I will never give this place my business. AVOID!

If you’re looking for a decent steakhouse environment– go. If you would like good food and service– don’t go! I was very disappointed with my experience and wish I could have that meal back somewhere else!

I had hosted a bridal shower at shipwreck point last weekend and I have a few comments, both good and bad. First the good, the food was amazing. That’s it. And now for the reason it only got 2 stars in my book. You must pay for parking. The servers never smiled, not even once and when asked for something to drink the girl had a nasty look on her face, I’m sorry but if you don’t like your job then get a new one. We brought a cake for the shower and were told that ice cream and Gelato would also be offered, it never was offered and coffee wasn’t offered until guests were leaving, this should have been offered when the cake was being cut. I had asked them to provide a fruit platter for guests with gluten allergies and they had said this was not a problem, it never came out. Good listing skills shipwreck. Crab cakes were to die for along with the steak.

So/So. Expected more from this restaurant that’s rated as «dressy» but had people in sweatshirts. The food was mediocre. My hubby liked his lamb. The chopped Greek salad was nice & refreshing. Was definitely disappointed in my ahi tuna. I didn’t like what it is accompanied with, way too much cilantro. Our server did not want to be there. Sad face…

Came here for my brothers bachelor party with a group of 11 and it was fantastic. We even change reservation times 3x and they were totally cool with it. Food was excellent and service was even better. I highly recommend coming here for a nice dinner.

I went to this restaurant for the first time this weekend and I really liked it. The food was quite good. My entrée of seared tuna with chorizo hash was fresh and well prepared and my husband had a steak which we both agreed was excellent quality meat and also well cooked. I also ordered a martini and thought the drink was very tasty with a good amount of alcohol. The service was very good as well. Definitely will be back.

I went on April 27 for my birthday and they were kind enough to prepare something not on the menu for it and the seafood dish was phenomenal! The oysters i requested were excellent and their shrimp and clams were amazing. The wait staff were COMPLETE gentlemen. The view to the water has the parking lot in the middle but the view is pretty either way. Though the parking lot is in the middle and the sun sets in Springtime in a direction that isn’t visible from your table, and it’s a bit high priced, those are the only negatives ***BUT*** the food quality and taste justify the prices(as long as you have the menu, see it before going). Their babka bread is exceptional, their dessert options are YUMMY, and i can’t find any negatives otherwise. Two thumbs up! *Bring extra $ for the pre-pay parking spots… though it may be May-October only.
