Phenomenal pizza. Great fast service. Best Sicilian pizza I’ve ever had.

Consistency is key for a restaurant’s success. When I decided to write a review I checked others to see if my experience was oddly different. It’s not. I truly enjoyed the plain slices at John’s of AA in the past. Today I visited John’s of AA for the 8th time. My review/opinion of John’s before today was 4.5 stars, delicious flavors and a nice thin crust. But today, the slices were thick and doughy. Flavor was just ‘OK’. It looked like the fellow that usually makes the pies was not there. So we have same place, same oven and same ingredients… But a difference slice! Quite an ordinary slice at that. Better product consistency was needed. Living on a restricted diet, i enjoy two slices once every 2 – 3 weeks. So for me, it’s a treat to go to a great pizzeria. Unfortunately, John’s of AA has fallen off my great pizzeria list and I’ll go back to Sal’s in Mamaroneck or Marcella’s in Mount Kisco. Clearly from the other customer reviews, many negative complaints come after their first visit to John’s. Food quality and fair customer treatment showing signs of decline and erosion over subsequent visits. Wouldn’t you think the owners of John’s of AA read their Unilocal reviews? Apparently not! The young and immature staff and poor management practices is producing a mediocre pie at times. Hey, it’s just another pizzeria with plenty of competition out there. Guess I’ll go somewhere else for a great slice.

Had a great run with John’s but I must be moving on. The phone system they have is crazy-they can’t hear you and three or four different people try to take your order-this is nuts. The pizza I picked up from Friday night must have been one lying around for a while and then thrown in the oven to be reheated. It was just rubber. Next time John’s should consider not taking the order after 9pm or make a fresh pie. Oh, I doubt there will be a next time for me.

I have ordered Penne Portobello several times but it’s inconsistent. More than half the time, not enough truffle oil is used. And in a dish that is solely comprised of penne pasta, cream sauce and pieces of portobello mushroom, the dish really needs a flavor that will pop. Also, we don’t eat in the restaurant much any more due to sub-par service on four different occasions.

We order here twice a month for our office. We have been doing it now for years. Big tray of garden salad with grilled chicken comes with marinated onions that is AWESOME. The pies are consistently very good. We also order Chicken Parm wedges which I split up for the office. We look forward to John’s Pizza day. Jim and his staff work really well with us and even send out canollis now and then. I would highly recommend John’s of Arthur Avenue.

this place is horrible!! would NEVER recommend. The OWNER is sooo rude! and i had multiple slices and needed them to be separated for different ppl who they were for and asked for a 2nd box and he wouldn’t even offer to give me it because he said the«boxes cost too much money“like really ?? ur in RYE a very expensive town and as the customer he should’ve been more nice to keep customer happy and its a BOX! for crying out loud its not that serious unless he’s that cheap of an owner. PLUS if i bought them separate i STILL would’ve got 2 boxes so the owners an IDIOT and to top it off… the PIZZASUCKS and is flimsy and falls apart in 2 seconds and cheese tastes like fake cheese which prob is the cheapest cheese just like the owner! I will NEVER go back there again and DEFDONOTRECOMMENDANYONE else in rye or area to go there. White PLAINS area has much better of a selection and is only 5 min away! or FORTINA pizza is amazing and very cute inside! good luck!

We love the food from here. We’ve ordered four or five times in the last few weeks. Tonight we had our first big disappointment. Pizza didn’t arrive for over 90 minutes. Ice cold. The owner asked us if we had an oven to heat it up… really? I guess our order was too small? $ 20.00 for a 16 inch pizza? Order was too small? With a 3 dollar delivery charge and 5 dollar tip. Really? Really disappointing. We have a lot of other choices. Really, really disappointing.

Ok John’s — I give up. You make a nice pie, but your delivery is consistently late and cold. And since I’m only about seven minutes away from you, I’m not even sure how it can get so cold. Are you packing it in dry ice? Is the delivery guy strapping it to the roof of his car? How do you do it?!

Pizza is excellent. Salads are good. Good neighborhood place without a wait. The slices of pizza are absurdly huge. Each slice is like 2 regular slices.

Less than one star for this place on a second visit! Tonight we wanted Zeppolies… We received 6 bite size pieces of dough for $ 4.95 + tax $ 5.55. I feel so ripped off and glad I didn’t go for the extra $$$ for cannoli cream. A slice of pizza would have had more value!!! This is the second time I’ve been ripped off. There are so many Great Italian Restaurants and Pizzerias in Port Chester that have been around for years… We don’t need this one! I’ve lived in this town for 28 years… Trust me!

Finally ordered a pizza to pick up. Chose the Margherita. Huge disappointment, no sign of basil or olive oil and again that is not fresh mozzarella! It was a regular boring crust not at all crispy and the sauce was overly sweet like you’d get upstate where they have no clue how to make pizza. I’d consider ordering that Arthur Ave salad again but the pizza is uninspired and boring & a waste of calories. I reserve 1 for awful places so I’m sticking with 2 stars. Bummed!!!

Sunday pizza was good. Chicken marsala was really good. This place is probably going to be our go to pizza and pasta joint.

The chicken cutlet sandwich is awesome! But other than that the food isn’t very good! I ordered the pizza and it came out cold. The crust was also nothing that would really be worth the money. Overall an Italian restaurant should have good pizza and it is a very big disappointment!

Ubiquitous, standard, decent, etc. etc. etc. Basically — when you don’t feel like paying $ 15 for a 6″ pie with candied pecans, golden prosciutto and aged balsamic vinegar and a cool instagram tag but just want a bigger than your face slice, piping hot, classic red sauce pizza that America was built on — check out John’s of Arthur Ave. The entrees are good too, but you’ll have to specify ‘al dente’ otherwise it’ll be like eating ramen noodles in tomato soup. Service is spotty, two experiences I had left the equivalent feeling of a hot pocket burning the roof of your mouth. During one experience, we came in to order what they call a ‘Family Feast Combo’ which we saw advertised on Facebook. We couldn’t remember what it specifically came with and inquired about what the deal included — the manager took advantage of the fact that we didn’t have the deal spelled out in front of us. What was advertised as a 16″ pie, garlic knots, a salad and 2L drink suddenly became just the pie and a salad at the same price. When we pulled up the deal(which had been posted less than a week before) he pouted and briskly bagged up some cold garlic knots, slapped a bag at us to grab the 2L bottle and said nothing else. It’s a bad look when your employees try to hoodwink customers — especially bad when you operate in a small community. The second experience involved their $ 15 minimum to use a card. I was spending $ 13.89 on a pie and a drink and they refused to take my card. The ATM machine charges a $ 4 fee — no thanks. Any business that puts saving a credit card fee ahead of customer service and saving a sale needs some work in the service department. Just bizarre that instead of eating the credit fee, you’d rather lose the entire $ 14? Add some flexibility! FYI — State law only allows up to a $ 10 minimum. But these things don’t matter — I’ll keep going back because they make the kind of pizza childhood birthday parties are made of. They make the kind of pizza that someone brings to a meeting and you eat happily and tastes better because its free. They make the kind of pizza you buy your friends for helping you move. They make the kind of pizza that burns the roof of your mouth and you don’t even care. Also $ 3 pints of Landshark to wash down that red cheesey comfort doesn’t hurt.

Only get the slice and go. Side salad was not good as they served the hard core stalk of the lettuce and the service was poor. You know your in your in trouble when you sit down and they say, what can I do you for boss. Then Right away boss. Who says this anymore??? Or whoever started this saying please stop, it’s lame. The reheated slice was ok for 4, little high for a reheat job to top it off Fountain Pepsi was flat. Would avoid, unless desperate.

You cant go wrong with this place. For lunch they have some pretty good deals. You can get a nice wrap or sand which that come with fries. I hear they have a huge family size pizza which is always good. Family size = bigger portion ;D Their wraps are good, I have tried a grilled chicken wrap. I have also tried their Pollo Prosciutto sandwich which i always enjoy. There pizza is good, the crust could be a little thicker but its good. They are very friendly and offer good service. I have tried the salad which has these amazing onions. I’m really not an onion guy but they do catch my attention. Id say its better than the other spots in Port Chester.

This place is great. Ordered a pizza from them a buffalo chicken and plain pie combo. It was delivered in fifteen minutes even when it was nasty outside. What really struck me about this place was the customer service. They usually make these pies by just putting buffalo chicken on half of a plain pie. Not today! They made my pie like the specialty pizza with buffalo chicken celery and blue cheese. This pie was amazing. To top it all off they called me forty minutes after they delivered the pie to ask how it was. I would recommend this place to any of my friends!

Great place to stop for lunch. You can grab a slice to go or sit and eat off of a large and affordable menu. The food and pizza are pretty good too.
