Just spent an hour browsing your menu in anticipation of delivery, only to call and be informed you do not deliver. Don’t bait people to your restaurant by falsely advertising delivery on your Unilocal page.

We were looking for breakfast and stumbled onto this place. The food was delicious and the service was prompt! The worst part was deciding what to get! They have a lot of options, all were great! We got a ½ order of the carrot cake pancakes and a mini order of corned beef hash… delicious!!!

Great, down home, diner experience. Their service is friendly and their breakfast is tasty. And they’ve got lots of options. I have enjoyed the cinnamon roll French toast here twice. It’s a special, but they’ll make it for you even if it’s not on the list.

If the food were worse, it would be a 2 star based on service. But, they have good food, and some«not the usual GFS diner food» dishes that make it interesting so I can give it a 3rd star based on that. If the service gets better, I can bump it up to 4. Decent, especially for breakfast but the place gets SLAMMED during the usual breakfast/lunch hours. We eat there occasionally, usually on the weekends, and usually breakfast/lunch. The food is good, and they have some creative dishes with a wide variety of interesting French toast creations. I have yet to have bad food here. On the negative side is the service. The place seems either poorly run or chronically understaffed. The rushing of the waitstaff, and somewhat disconnected greeters give the feeling of barely controlled chaos. On one visit on a swamped Saturday morning after several people got seated out of the waiting order one of the women waiting had to suggest to the young and very green greeter that«maybe you should be writing down names to keep track of who is next». Every, and I do mean every time we eat here, the waitress messes up. Sometimes major, mostly minor. Most of it is just silly stuff I wouldn’t even think twice about if it didn’t happen so often. Mistakes like sandwich sauces that were supposed to be on the side are instead slathered on the sandwich and forgotten refills are pretty common. And, for the love of God, be ready to order the first time around or it could be 20 min before you get your next chance if the place is busy.
You generally have to be aggressive about flagging down the waitress as they fly by to other tables without making eye contact or disappear for many minutes at a time. On two occasions I had to ask more than once for some red hot sauce for eggs, and then only got it because I flagged down a waitress other than ours. I eat here, I like the food, I just wish the service could come up a couple notches.

Okay they have a few signature items like the big bird salad — portions are large — even the pancakes! Give it a try — they do have good senior specials.

Went here for lunch on 5÷6÷13 with a friend. First bummer is that they no longer accept c. c or debit cards for orders less than $ 10, 2nd bummer– stood at the door for several minutes while every employee walked by w/not even a ‘hello/we’ll be right w/you’ AND they weren’t busy! The poor customer service started there and just continued to trickle downhill. Our server didn’t greet us w/a smile or even a ‘Hi, my name is…’, nothing– she was horrible– didn’t deserve the tip my friend gave her! And I don’t care if she was having a bad day– I work in customer service and it doesn’t matter– you put a smile on your face and get over whatever is up your rear and do your job!!! There are a ton of people who would gladly take your place in this craptastic job market! Now, the only saving grace is their Santa Fe Chicken Salad, pita bread, and ranch dressing. I will also add, there was a guy– who I hope received a portion of the tip(he deserved the whole thing) who cleared the table and asked us if we wanted more water or to take our left overs b/c our server was M.I.A Get it together Daybreak Café– you’re not the only place in town! Management needs to get out to the tables and ask the customers about their experience. I wasn’t given the option to express my distaste and it’s a shame but I guess that’s how they do business.

The prices and the service were the only things about this place that were good. Wait. The omelette(feta and spinach) I had was quite nice and the fruit salad that came with our meals was good. The waffles are frozen and way too sweet. The stuffed French toast had not been soaked in egg. It just had a coating of egg and was dry bread inside. Everything else was mediocre. Not what we expected. Also, the A/C was set way too cold. We were freezing throughout our meal.

I was skeptical of Daybreak. Generally when you see a place like this you figure its just a standard diner. You’re not going to be wowed by anything but you’ll feel adequately served. The Daybreak Café is different. I lived in the Port Huron area for about 10 years or so and saw a half dozen restaurants come through this location in that time span. Daybreak is the only one that has stuck around for more than a year. I ordered the patty melt and good god was it delicious. Grilled rye, sauteed onions, a ½ lb patty, and swiss and american cheeses. Let me tell you something about Daybreak’s cooking staff, they can sauté the F-word out of some onions. That sandwich was make exemplary because of the perfectly cooked onions. I’d wager to say that this was the best patty melt I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of patty melts. The flavor mix was excellent; nothing overpowered anything else. The only suggestion I have is maybe get some marble rye and try that out, but it’s a personal quibble because I like swirly breads. Port Huron, especially on the north end, doesn’t have a lot of dining options if you’re going non-chain. This place is a beacon of hope and culinary excellence in that town. They don’t try to go crazy and add wacky shit just for the sake of adding it. They know what they do and they do it well.

Yum-o-licious! I had a grilled cheese on sourdough with a cup of chicken and dumpling soup. The soup was pretty tasty, but nothing compared to my Papa’s. The grilled cheese was perfect except that the bread didn’t really taste like sourdough. Those aren’t really complaints, I swear. I left happy and would stop back in for breakfast at any time of the day during our next trip to Michigan! 2013, here we come!

This place was ok. I decided on it after reading the Unilocal reviews. There wasn’t anything real unique about it and it was pretty crowded when I came in – it was a Sunday after all – but I got good food for a good price, eggs, bacon, biscuit. Gravy was a dollar extra but it was good. I would go here again if I lived near. There was a 50 cent charge for using my credit card.

The Daybreak Café is an excellent choice for breakfast in the Port Huron area. Jules ordered two eggs over easy, with sour dough toast, American fries, bacon, coffee. Walter P ordered the«Soon to be World Famous» carrot cake pancakes, bacon, coffee. Jules and Walter split the carrot cake pancakes, American fries, and sour dough toast. Next time, Walter will order the exact same thing !!!

I am a big fan of breakfast. I make time for it every morning. Sometimes I am feeling lazy on the weekends and prefer not to bust out the griddle and pancake mix. Also, this was my first visit to Port Huron, so I love to try the restaurants there.(Not that Port Huron is a culinary mecca, but I love the small town feel of these establishments.) It was Saturday morning and I was starving. Me: Can we get breakfast? Boyfriend: I’m not hungry, and we have bananas and orange juice here. Me: Those are snacks. I want REAL breakfast. You know, that’s served hot? PLEASE. Boyfriend: *Sigh* Alright, alright. Daybreak Café is one of the few restaurants in the area that has a menu online. Their prices are more than reasonable, with a majority of items being under $ 7. Terrific! My «not hungry» boyfriend and I both had the Eggs Benedict(I requested no bacon on mine), one of their specials. Two plates along with a cup of unlimited coffee came to under $ 15. That’s super cheap. I’d be damned to find ONE Eggs Benedict in Chicago for less than $ 12. Plus, our food was good. The people there were friendly, of course. I am in love.(With both the boyfriend and Daybreak Café — hah.) I want to return the next time I’m in town. If you are looking for cheap, no frills breakfast in a friendly atmosphere and that’s a step above your average greasy spoon diner, I would go no further than Daybreak Café. PS: The menu can be found here: PPS: They offer free WI-FI!

With a nearby bed and breakfast, we don’t get out to breakfast much, but when we do, we love the fresh tastes, generous quantities and friendly, attentive service here. You can order off the breakfast menu all day, but when you’re there in normal breakfast hours, they automatically bring a small serving of fresh fruit. They seem to do a great lunch and dinner business, too, judging from the cars. but to us the place has a light-filled«morning» kind of vibe, so we’ve never been there after 11.

A great breakfast spot, good prices, friendly service. There is a good amount of vegetarian options on the menu, but limited vegan selections.
