Dairy Queen

I’ve been a school bus driver since 1993. That’s going on 23 years. And I’ve driven thousands of children on trips. Many times they ask to go eat afterwards especially high school games driven from school and ending late. Well last Monday night 11/​10/​2015 after bowling in port orchard I was asked to take the kids to Dairy Queen. Of course I was happy to comply I love Dairy Queen. It’s one of my choice places to enjoy fast food.
To make a long sad humiliating story short I’ll cut to the chase. When asked what I wanted to order I asked the fellow behind the counter if they honored the complimentary order to the bus driver responsible for all the sudden business.
He seemed to be ignorant of what I was talking about so I proceeded to explain the thankful gesture. When he couldn’t tell me I requested he ask the manager. He returned with the sad news that I could have 10% off what I wanted. I told him no thanks that was not acceptable. And refused ordering the cup of coffee I’d planned to order.
After all were finished ordering I decided to have a chat with the manager. And explained to him that in 23 years I’ve never not been given a complimentary order. And let him know that I’d intended to order simply a cup of coffee. The manager began to waffle and tried to convince me that I could indeed have a cup of coffee.
I refused it letting him know that I just wanted to not see it ever happening to another bus driver that brings in a bus load of customers and their money. And that kind of money in that short a time was worth a coffee or complete meal and or deserts. So I give the Dairy Queen a single star and hope the manager will change his greedy self in the future.

Ok, so this is fast food. We don’t usually do FF because for just a bit more, we can get something better. But we chose last week to get a quick burger for lunch. We hit the DQ drive through. My wife asked for the bacon cheeseburger and I had the Ultamite burger, we also got fries. The good: They quickly produced our order and it was right. She ordered her burger dry. No sauce. It came that way. The fries were good. They were hot, crispy, and not overly salted. Burgers were tasty. What could have been done better: My bun was COLD. I could feel it through the paper. My wife’s burger bun was not fresh. When she opened up the paper, it was cracked and dry. Fell apart. Bacon was cooked ok, but only one piece per burger. Some bites lost out. Overall, service was speedy and lunch was reasonably priced. Just please do better with the buns and bacon.

Service was nice, and ice cream was well presented well. Good job from a former Dairy Queen employee. Oh and nice remodel!
(Judgment based on the fact I am aware most of those that work fast food are new to having a job and this is a learning experience. If they are older the yes I do expect service to be more up to par. I say this ALSO knowing how many workers sometimes you have to go through and re-​train) hence the reason for any delays.

We just spent 20 minutes waiting for a cone and they weren’t even swamped just unorganized ! We got a free blizzard who cares so did the 3 people ahead of us who where waiting an hour. never coming back

Ice Cream. .. Dairy Queen. .. nothing more to say here
Service has always been hit and miss — they get busy and slow (welcome to fast food staffing). .. they have no business and in /​out without a problem.
I have never been disappointed by the ice cream here — thus that is what I will base my review on after all I go to Dairy Queen for the ice cream…
Like all fast food joints — I have been disappointed by service /​cleanliness /​non ice cream food quality. .. that is expected on that one HOT summer day we get and ¹⁄₂ of the town decides ice cream would be a good thing today. .. but — see ice cream.

I’ve never actually been to a DQ for anything other than ice cream but I saw an ad on TV for a $ 5 lunch so I figured I’d try it out. It was alright. The fries are about as tasty as Mickey D’s, so nothing special. The burger was a bit small but it was hot and had decent flavor. The soft serve was what you’d expect. Overall, I would say I wasn’t disappointed. It was a good value and the food is equal to other fast food joints I frequent. There were a few burgers I might try in the future.

Blizzards suck! I don’t know if they aren’t storing their ice cream at the right temperature or what but every time I go there my blizzard comes out as a half melted milkshake with very little stuff in it. The food is ok though which is the reason for the two stars but because I mainly go their for ice cream and it has sucked every time, I would not recommend this place!

What can I say about Dairy Queen, sometimes you need that fix. This one is good but can be slow at times. Fast food can be an oxy-​moron but those blizzards are addicting!

I used to have good memories of fast food but oh my has the quality declined in the last decade or two or ?? I went to this DQ recently and had to question what was in the burger I was eating. If this meat was given a report card it would not be getting anything near a grade of A. The fries were bland, suitable, perhaps, for patients
recovering from surgery. Just nasty food. I don’t expect great things from our fast food nation but this really was poor. I’ll stick with going here only for their ice cream.
No issues with the service or cleanliness of the place.

As far as Dairy Queens go, this one is the best I’ve been to. The restaurant is pretty new, clean and tidy. The staff are cute (seriously) and friendly. Service is fast. Remarkably fast. The food quality is good too. No frozen beef patties here. Of course desserts are amazing. And they always make my orders the way I want it– even if it means subbing out drinks for blizzards or fries for onion rings. These guys are making Dairy Queen awesome amidst the usual burger king and mcdonalds. I go here a lot and will continue to do so.

So clearly Dairy Queen is a chain. The food that is served here is what you’d expect. I occasionally drive thru here on my way home since it’s somewhat easily accessible from 16. The service is usually pretty good. When I do order food from here, I haven’t been disappointed. The sandwiches are pretty good and I love the bread you get with some of the meals. I’m just a sucker for carbs.
Overall, their ice cream dessert making skills are pretty good. I would say 75% of the time I get a blizzard it’s great. The other 25% of the time I find it’s not mixed well or doesn’t seem like it has any many goodies as usual. Sometimes the drive thru can be a bit slow moving and for no good reason.
