Rum River Bar & Grill

Be prepared to be there for a while it took over 30 minutes to get our order and there were only a handful of people. Many people were complaining! It’s to bad the place was beautiful and food good but no reason to be so slow! Was told by waiter while leaving that they only have one cook for the two restaurants.

It took over an hour to get our food and it wasn’t even busy at all. They were out of most items on the menu like fish which you expect a seafood restaurant wouldn’t run out of. When the food came out it was cold and didn’t have much flavor at all. The waitresses don’t come around very often and that was unexpected since it wasn’t busy at all. If you can go somewhere else

Atmosphere was nice but their signature drinks that were $ 5 were horrible! When we expressed our dislike the server was sweet and apologize but the manager never came to our table to apologize, in fact he argued with the server as to why? Food was ok but pricey.

Went here with our extended family for the Thanksgiving 2015 buffet. The buffet included crab claws, peel your own jumbo shrimp, stuffed flounder, sea bass, turkey, spiral cut ham, dressing, three kinds of salad, garlic mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and a host of other items and deserts and of course a full bar.
There were 10 in our family’s group and everyone was quite satisfied with the food quality, service and ambiance. We are talking about making this our annual Thanksgiving go to restaurant. Please be advised that you must make reservations in advance and they go quick. Don’t wait to the last minute for special holiday reservations. They will be sold out!

My coworkers and I visited this location on Thursday. This was my first time here. I’m so glad I did not read the previous reviews as I don’t think we would’ve gone to this spot.
Well our servers name was Holly and she was very nice. I did not know what to order but she helped with what was really good. I can agree with another Unilocaler that stated this place is pricey and it is, but when you go out to eat, just enjoy yourself and who you are with. Complain when the food is awful and the service is bad, yet you spent all this $$$ here.
I ordered the Tiki Mahi Tacos and they were AMAZING!!! The Mahi was fried perfect, not over breaded. My coworkers enjoyed what they ate as well. I can’t say too much for the drinks as I had bottled water and it was delicious with my meal. The atmosphere is nice even for bringing the children as I saw a cute couple that had three well behaved little ones. There was no band playing and I’m glad though. I wanted to enjoy the conversation and not have to scream depending on how loud they actually are.
As we were leaving, right as we stepped outside, there was a guy smoker that just overwhelmed us with his cigarette smoke. I don’t think the location for smoking is a good location as you begin to second hand the moment the door opens. Plus depending on the wind that day, it can be overpowering and stink while you’re eating.
Will I go back, I hope so. Will I recommend this spot, I will tell others of my visit and how it was, hopefully they will make up their own mind and have a nice time like I did.

We had a great time here. The servers were fun and attentive. The food was good. Just a all around good time.

Atmosphere was great! Food was good; ribs fell right off the bone. Music was good. Service was super slow and server did try to make up for it with free chips and salsa. Bathroom was disgusting.

I’ve gone here many times and always received exceptional service. I had one less than satisfactory experience due to long wait time, lack of service and overcooked food. I did notice they were so short-​staffed and busy that the bartender had to come out and take my order. While initially I was disappointed, once the manager came around and I expressed my concerns with her she genuinely apologized and rectified the issue. I was so impressed with how the situation was handled without hesitation and because of that, I will definitely be back!

I’m from out of town and it was my First time coming to this place and I was not impressed. We were super hungry so we ordered out drinks appetizers and entrées all at the same time so it would hopefully speed up the process. We got out drinks and appetizers within 15 min and we waited over an hour for our food. we were talking and didn’t noticed how long it had actually been. When our waitress came to check on our drinks I asked her how long for the food and she looked shocked and said she was going to check on it. Another 10 min went by and by then we had enough and just wanted out so I came up to the bar to cancel our order and though it wasn’t our waitresses fault it was a terrible first impression specially since it’s a Thursday night and it wasn’t that busy to begin with. Looked like a good place to drink. Just maybe not to get food.

Friday night my boyfriend and I found ourselves trying this place out after a horrible experience elsewhere. It was both of ours first time here. It wasn’t very busy which was nice after coming from a similar type of restaurant that had blaring music and yelling customers. As soon as we walked in a waitress nicely said to sit anywhere we’d like. Our waiter, Jared, was there within minutes. Got our drinks right away and took our appetizer order then. We got the gator bites and they were soo good. It is very easy to over cook and they got then right! I ordered the grouper sandwich and enjoy it. My boyfriend got the chicken melt and seeing how he devoured it, I’d say he enjoyed it haha. The music wasn’t loud, the customers weren’t loud, and the staff were friendly. I thought our waiter was very nice. I had to ask his name again so I could make sure he gets the recognition he deserves for his service.

Stopped in for the first time last week and had a great meal.
Scallops wrapped in bacon was awesome! (cooked perfectly)
The waiter /​bartender was friendly and service was good but we were pretty much the only people in the joint at 5:00 pm on a Thursday, surprising actually.
All in all, 4 stars and I will def. go back.

Cool place to hang out and has a nice view! All i had was the bucket of rum but it was quite tasty!

nice atmosphere outside minus the chain smokers… BUT, overpriced, bad service, short-​staffed, incompetent management and micro portions… yeah…skip this joint. Any place that runs two restaurants with only one kitchen… smh. it took an hour to get our food. All I ordered was a salad with shrimp. One other person did as well, and we got our food last. At the end, I gave the waitress a $ 50, she rounded off my bill and gave me no change… I’ve never seen anything like that before.

We have tried to like this place several times because we enjoy eating on the water. The location is the only thing this place has going for it. The last time we ate here it was a slow night and our server forgot we were outside! The food was bland, service is horrible and we have given up on it.

What a waste of great riverfront space. The food and service has never been good. We are boaters and are always looking for places to go on the weekend. We call all summer long to find out if they have daytime music (as most waterfront places do). Never to they have music. You can go in during the day and shoot a canon through it. They have no clue how to run a waterfront establishment. Hooters and Seaside keep our business.

Yum! Loved the seafood bisque! Very thick and a lot of crab! Seafood in every bite. Obviously not huge pieces but still typically seafood bisque means seafood flavored. Also got grouper nuggets fried for the hubs. He really enjoyed them but I thought it was bland without the tarter dipping sauce. Not bad though! We split the ultimate fish sandwich blackened with fries. It was awesome! And yes huge! We ended up taking it off the bun. The blackened tasted awesome… I could have done no cheese to have more of that flavor but the hubs disagreed! Loved it all! Fries are kickass. Seasoned like checkers:) The restaurant is basically all out doors. It was cold but they space heaters. Live band. Not really my style (classic rock… barf.) we sat as far away as possible hehe. Our server Amanda was great! Very fast, had good input with my questions, and sweet! Cannot beat 33 bucks for two! We’ll be back for sure.

Guacamole sure needs work no flavor ! My wife had the wings medium said they were great. I was limited due to gluten had baked potato was good. Friend had mahi sandwich says «excellent». Waitress was great very helpful with ingredients. Kids deep dish pizza better than normal kids meal pizza. Only major complaint here is the speed but this is not the kind of place to come if that is your concern it is really an extremely nice waterfront tiki hut with awesome breezes right on river. My star review is for atmosphere related to the type of restaurant this is not the food. Food is a 3 star but if u need some place to get Away to this is it

I really love the atmosphere & food here. It’s a cute little place on the water & they frequently have live music. I prefer to sit at the bar because the wait staff is terrible, it’s soooooooo slooooooooow. Several times my husband & I wanted to stay longer there but it was taking over 20 minutes to get each drink order on a slow night. It’s too much. But service is typically 1000 times better at the bar.

Music is really loud, and the best item our group ordered was a buffalo chicken sandwich. The seafood dishes were sub-​par at best and the place is on a river! More of a dive bar than a seafood restaurant, won’t be going back. Our waitress was nice, worth a 2^nd star.

Ok, it has one of the best water view. Not the luxury one but the authentic florida style kind of place. Ordered fish sandwich and got a huge fish filet, toooo deep fried in my opinion, had to use several napkins to absorb the grease. Fries were good. comparing to other places. Also had a lobster bisque, really good actually but maybe too salty, and im the person who adores everything that has tons of salt. but i guess this soup had too much, and it didnt really look like a soup but more like the consistency of a greek yogurt. weird! Found some good chunks of either lobster or crab, and shrimp. And i would serve it with more than just 4 crackers :)
The waitress, ehmm, that’s a sensitive thing :) she was a crazy one. Always on the run and rude and cold. I guess thats the server you get in this kind of places, dunno. Overall, i liked it, i just enjoyed the view and the person i had by my side, so try it.
