Love the appetizers and the drinks. The bourbon shrimp is delicious as are the pork nachos. The only problem is the smoking. If you sit outside there may be smokers at the next table. The inside no smoking area is unappealing. If you smoke– great restaurant. If not and it bothers you, be careful where you sit.

We frequent this location often. They have a pretty good happy hour and usually entertainment. The complaint that everyone agrees on is that the bands they have in there are way too loud. I am not a prude, but if you can’t even talk to the person sitting next to you, that is way too loud. Food can be hit or miss based on what you order. Bourbon Shrimp is always good. Their chicken nachos used to be, not sure why they changed them. When we got them the other day, the chicken was canned. It was absolutely nasty! They now how a couple docks you can pull up to by boat. Warning, it may look like you can fit four boats in there, but I wouldn’t pull up all the way. On low tide, you have about 4 inches of water and a lot of rocks. Stay back toward the channel. Roadside parking can be hard if they have a band in that pulls a crowd. The city will ticket anyone that has tires touching the road. If there is no parking, they will tell you to go to the marina about a mile away and walk back. The inside looks like it hasn’t been touched since the 70’s. They could do so much with it, but they don’t. No one really every eats in there. There is an inside bar that does not get used. They leave a couple bottles on the shelf to make it look like a bar.

Off the beaten path, but, well worth the trip! The waitress started off by being well informed about the menu, and was as nice as you could ask for! She was a definite ten! I had a cup of the bisque soup,(it was fabulous with tons of seafood in it) and my partner had the clam chowder(which had huge chunks of real delicate clams in it) and then we shared two appetizers. His Bourbon shrimp was a bit spicy for me, but, he really liked it and it was cooked perfectly. MY choice was the shrimp and grouper cakes and they were excellent. The atmosphere(at three in the afternoon on a Wednesday} was awesome. We sat at a water side table and there was soft seventies music playing in the background. Absolutely a wonderful outing. I cant wait to go back and try more of their menu!

Nice view of the Cotee. Nice little place to grab some lunch. I had a chicken wrap and fries and my buddy had a burger. My chicken wrap was average, my buddy said his burger was good. I got Shocktop on draft which was a good price($ 2), and the service was great. Not sure when or if I’ll go back, but apparently they have live music on the weekends. Not a bad place to catch an inexpensive bite with a great view of the river.

The food was awesome… shrimp and grouper cakes, Cuban sandwich. The service was a little slow. I had to ask twice for silverware and gave up on getting more sauce for the fried pickles.

Nothing special, the chicken kabob was pretty bland. I found this place to be more of a dive.

They hit the nail on the head with their slogan: ‘Hard to find. Impossible to forget’. Hard to find: because there are several other cute florida-y restaurants around the same area that would lure you in over this run down shack. Impossible to forget: the ‘hard living’ clientele. I think most of the ladies there were low-level prosties and perhaps many of the fellas were smoking crack/meth in the bathroom — it made for great crowd watching but I’m guessing you don’t want to be there at closing time ;) Food — ordered a chicken portabella sandwich with fries — fine but nothing amazing. Server was friendly although very inconsistent — think they only had 2 waitresses serving 50 people. Jam band with 5 guitarists(no cover band needs 5 guitarists, c’mon people!) was way too loud. Very smoky in the open-air restaurant area where the band played. Skip it!

Great outside seating & cheap happy hour. Nachos were good, but music was very loud.

When the wait at Hooter’s is ridiculous, try Whiskey River. Not quite comparable but it works. Great view of the river. Decent food but pretty limited menu. It is pretty much all sandwiches and fries. Buffalo chicken sandwich was great! Cubans were good. The atmosphere was definitely lacking though. We were inside because of the weather and it was just boring and lifeless. No thought or effort put into the décor. Service was decent. Our 10 adult meals came out together but the 1 kid’s meal was forgotten. Luckily the kid didn’t mind but that could have been a mess. Whiskey River will have to step it up a little in terms of the menu and ambiance in order to attract customers from Hooter’s but for now it works as a plan B.

Service started out great but then after awhile she disappeared barely came around. Missed the end of happy hour cause she was no where to be found.

Great food, okay prices, awful parking, lovely view. I haven’t seen the drink specials, but they must be amazing, because people are willing to park all over the neighborhood despite the fact that the police hand out parking tickets every time. If this place would buy up some nearby lots for parking, they’d be unstoppable.

Cheap, subpar bar food with a nice atmosphere by the water. Seat yourself because no one will greet you when you walk in. Looks like a place for the locals and the rowdy weekend warriors. Saw a pregnant girl chain smoking too, so there’s that too.

Cool place right in the river with great food and happy hour specials. We usually head over here on Saturday afternoons. Girls behind the bar are cute and very prompt even with a full bar.

In the middle of nowhere, aka Port Richie, is a very decent restaurant/bar called Whiskey River. We were there on a Wed evening, in time for happy hour still, and most of the tables in the bar area and patio were full, although inside was empty. The view of the river is so great, no wonder no one wanted to sit inside. We also grabbed one of the tables on the patio. For drinks my bf ordered Bacardi and Coke and I had Malibu Sunset. In total we had 4 drinks at under $ 3 each! Apparently, Whiskey River’s happy hour includes wells AND calls liquors. Score! For food we ordered Fish Tacos(made with Basa fish) and Cuban Sandwich. The fish tacos were very good. The fish on each taco was HUGE(see picture) and seasoned perfectly. I like that the shredded cabbage is like a coleslaw rather than just plain shredded cabbage. The Cuban sandwich, on the other hand, was just okay. There was a smell I couldn’t place my finger on that we didn’t quite like, probably from the mojo pork. The sandwich came with a side of super duper delish fries. They were so good I told myself that next time I just want an order of the fries. On second thought, I looked around and saw lots of people eating wings so I think I’ll try those too. Whiskey River is located in a neighborhood of regular houses, and just when you think you’re lost, you’re there. Definitely use your GPS.

What a pleasant surprise! Oddly enough we took a wrong turn and ended up here but we were all happy with the experience. They don’t look like much from the outside, but they have a pretty large deck with a bar and tables right on the water,(but there is inside seating). We were there on a Sunday, and it looks like a great place to hang out for football, a bunch of TVs, with a lot of people dressed in their NFL jerseys. The menu is your normal sports bar stuff like burgers, wings, sandwiches, salads, and some seafood. If you into beer like me, you’ll be disappointed, I didn’t see anything fancy. Two of us ordered wraps, and one ordered soup and salad and the other ordered nachos. The nachos were huge, and could have been shared with a bunch of people. Both the wraps were good, fresh ingredients, and the chicken was well cooked. My sister enjoyed her soup and salad. Service was fantastic. The waitress was very friendly and prompt. I sort of wish we had a sports bar near our house like this one. The food and service and both good and they look like a fun place to hang out. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

This is a fairly new place but it’s the first chance I’ve had to check it out. I LOVEIT! The food is really good, live music and a really fun, Florida atmosphere. ALSO… the service… was fantastic! I can not believe with how busy they were and how fast our food came out. And the server was spot on with everything from beginning to end. You can sit out on the deck by the water or inside in the room with the live band OR if you aren’t in the mood for loud music you can sit in the closed off room next to the band which has nice big windows overlooking the deck that you can open if you want. I had the Bourbon Shrimp which was wonderful! There were 6 of us dining tonight and everyone said their meal was excellent. We will most definitely be coming back here again soon.
