I went with my sisters and her friends and it was pretty fun. The excitement of dressing up and going to a themed party is awesome! I was enthusiastic about it and it wasn’t until I was there that I realized I knew about 5% of the songs played. It’s before my time and not really my cup of tea, solely because I felt really out of place while everyone was going down memory lane. I wish I did know more of the songs and dances! I would definitely come back for 90’s night or later. I know they have 90’s night so I’m stoked! If you’re ever hesitant to go, just go! It’s a fun experience.

Feel like dancing? Feel like dressing in 80s garb? Feel like working up a sweat and not giving a fluck who sees you dancing? Then this is the place to come!

So much fun! We were in town for a long weekend and happened to be there on 80’s video dance attack night! We are from San Diego, and it seems that here, the last regular 80’s dance night in town was cancelled about 8 years ago! I was pleased to see such a great, spirited crowd moon walking across the dance floor(the floor that really does bounce) and partying like it was 1999! Some folks were dolled up all Cyndi Lauper style, and others were a little more casual, but this is the type of place where everyone fits in! I loved seeing people in their 20’s to people in their 50’s on the same dance floor sharing their love for the music. My husband commented that the dance floor reminded him of a wedding… a FUN wedding! It was great to see all the videos and sing out loud while dancing. I would love to give 5 stars, but they never played any of our awesome 80’s requests… maybe they didn’t have the videos.

What a blast! Hard to believe at the ripe old age of 50+ I was outnumbered by many younger fans of the 80’s on the dance floor. We thought we were going to be in Lola’s but to our pleasant surprise we were in the bouncy floor Crystal Ballroom and for the majority of our 45 yrs and older group it was our first time in the room. Though our knees are starting to give out, our stamina a little less and our bedtime a little earlier than 30 years ago we couldn’t leave the dance floor, the moment we heard the opening cords of the next song we looked at each other and screamed, «we have to stay and dance to this one too!» $ 6.00 goes a long way for a memorable and joint aching totally rad experience! The DJ was fantastic!(Bring your earplugs if you prefer)

Pure 80 ’ s guilt free extravaganza! Get dressed up in 80 ’ s gear, or not. Totally up to you. Crowed is prerty friendly and the dress code low key(I went in jeans, tshirt and sneakers and felt comfortable). The floor does totally spring up/down! Large screen blazing 80s vids. If you’re a child of the 80 ’ s this place is a must! !

Every time I visit Portland, I make sure to head to the Crystal Ballroom for 80’s Video Dance Attack, and every time I end up in a pool of sweat, out of breath, and a smile on my face. I love the 80’s just like everyone else, and coming here I realize I’m not alone. The crowd is 20’s-30’s and it’s just fun, fun, fun. The DJ’s are super nice and you can even add requests for songs. The big screen with the videos is a bonus! The place can get packed, but who cares? You’ll sweat bullets and become out of breath, but isn’t that the point? And the crowd is super nice because we’re all there to get Into the Groove.

It’s Friday night in Portland. You know you: a) don’t want to go to a Blazers game b) can’t spend another night superfluously drinking giant drunken ice tea at Sweet Hereafter c) you’re in the mood for groove Where do you find yourself? Happily dancing out to David Bowie’s «Let’s Dance» or Janet’s «Rhythm Nation» on the bouncy floor of the Crystal Ballroom or in the more intimate venue of Lolas Room while DJ KittyRox keeps the party going. And how do you feel? Awesome. And sweaty. And happy. 80’s Video Dance Attack is probably one of the most fun events that regularly happens here in Portland — it’s a space devoid of irony, so leave those hot pink leotards at home(unless you genuinely like them, then definitely wear them to dance and wear them to dinner beforehand).
