This review is strictly for their coffee — from everything I’ve heard you should avoid the food here at all costs. But the coffee — dear lord. I love illy. Illy coffee is one of the wonders of the modern world — I hold it in high esteem next to penicillin and the internet. These mochas and lattes melt in your mouth. The service is quick here and there is a lot of cushy seating, plus free wifi. This is a prime location for a meeting near PSU. They play lots of classical music and there service is ten times better than the McMennamin’s around the corner. I highly recommend this place to locals visiting the campus.

Try the homemade Chai-there is a lot of cinnamon in it, but it’s good!

Cute little coffee shop. Nothing too fancy. Mainly sells savory and sweet crepes and coffees and teas. Have to say yes to nutella and chocolate banana crepes! I’d have to say its a rather nice place to study on campus. The café is located right under the Thai restaurant upstairs, one whole complex.

This place has been closed everytime I’ve been by over the past 2 weeks. Think twice or go down to 5th street for Stumptown roast at Contrary Coffee in a pretty similar ambiance.

5 stars for the owner being awesome. He’s a great guy, friendly and fun. He remembers his patrons and likes to make you feel welcome. Espresso is not bad at all & I’ve heard the food(ex: lentel soup) is amazing. A cozy little place right on campus to study or read.

Don’t come here for the coffee. At this point I thought all Portland coffee establishments could make a good latte with a nice micro foam and all. This place makes it Starbucks style not paying attention to the milk and only making a layer of foam rather than a consistent micro foam. I have no idea how the food is, but I’ll give it two stars because the owner was nice.

I really enjoy come here to get a tasty hot drink. The classical music that is played it easy to place yourself away to enjoy your moment of peace. I love coming here and enjoy returning every time.

I came in just to check it out and I live close by. I had a tea and it was very good. The staff and atmosphere was friendly. The seat at the window comfortable. If you are in the neighborhood come in and check it out.

For coffee I would give this place a 5. For food, a one. So I settled on a three. The owner is very friendly and sweet. The space is great for studying or just hanging out. I normally come in for an American or Chai, which is home made and so so good. The tea selection is also pretty great. The food you should pass on. The crepes are on the greasy side and over priced. I ordered the Spinach, mushroom and Mozzarella. The spinach almost seemed like it was canned! It was tasteless and awful. The mushrooms weren’t any better. I think he put some sort of hot sauce in it too. There was red cream inside. I only ate a few bites. Blah. The crêpe also came with a salad or soup. I got the lentil soup. It was okay, tasted like it would out of a can. I feel bad writing this, because the owner is very nice. But next time I go, it will be just for drinks.

the teas here are all very unique and very tasty(I’ve tried three now). look forward to my Wednesday class in the building across the street so I can come here on my break. on my last visit, I also tried an almond honey cookie that was pretty yummy as well. it’s a great Starbucks alternative!

… Why would a crêpe be $ 7?.. Am I wrong or is a crêpe simply flour, egg. milk mixed and cooked for like 2 minutes? So. the strawberries inside must be expensive? People may think me stingy for snubbing two stars for pricing– but it is supposed to be a college joint. and I am po-ooor. I give three stars to location and the chai. Everyone’s right– the chai is pretty bomb, and fresh… which = delicious.

I have lived in downtown PDX for a long time. And I have been a student at PSU for the past year, however, I never happened upon this place until one wet, rainy, Wednesday afternoon. I was late to class, but desperately in need of some caffeine. I popped into the Broadway spot and ordered a peppermint mocha and — it was the BEST coffee I have ever had, and I drink coffee all the time. It was so good! a kid from Japan made it for me and as I waited for the coffee to finish frothing in the coffeemaker, he told me about the Harajuku fashion district, I told him how much I DREAM of going there. He was very kind and the coffee was rich and sweet and fragrant and pepperminty chocolatey goodness. I was late to class, but it was worth it.

Agreed with Melinda! I loved this place when I went to PSU. I would save up my change through the week to treat myself to ‘chai guy’. He would create his homemade chai by the cup and then take tastes(pouring a bit into a taster cup) to make sure it was perfect. What beautiful blend of spices. He’ll remember your name and your major/internship/job if you become a regular. And there was always NPR in the backgound. refreshing.

Another one of my favorite PSU coffee spots! Broadway Coffee is one of those magical shops that looks TINY from the outside, as the store front is just a door, a window, and a lone table on the sidewalk, but it is actually pretty spacious once you get in. The counter is actually in the middle of the shop, and beyond it in the back is a nice roomy area with futons and stuff that’s perfect for groups. The owner here is incredibly friendly, and happy to explain the menu. He serves up standard coffee drinks as well as a wide variety of tea-based drinks, including a la-tea(har har) made with an organic black tea base, honey, milk, and topped with spicy goodness. It sounds like chai(which Broadway also offers), but tastes somewhat different. B.C. is also a creperie! The menu divides crêpe flavors up into ‘Breakfast,’ ‘Sweet,’ and ‘Savory.’ They come in choices like strawberries and nutella, egg & ham, and almonds & honey. I think aside from the beautiful space and the welcoming atmosphere, my favorite part about B.C. is that coffee refills get exponentially cheaper. First refill is 50 cents, the second is a quarter!

I hope I’m giving 5 stars to the right coffee place. It’s been a while but this was one of my favorite spots to kill some time and get away from the crowds. The owner is great, get to know him if you get the chance. Parking is easy and it’s right by PSU.
