Vegan suggestions: Portland Wings(you get more bang for your buck than the drumsticks), sweet potato fries, and house salad with sesame ginger vinaigrette(also see spicy peanut chicken tender salad subbed with vegan nuggets). Good for easy food & a pint, & their Jamaican jerk sauce is fantastic.

The wings are small but super flavorful. I think I actually like these smaller wings better. The nachos are actually pretty good. Customer service is average but it’s not table service so that’s fine.

Excellent food, friendly staff. The boneless wings were delicious, as were the fried pickle spears! Portion sizes were generous, prices were very reasonable!

I love this place – after a night of climbing, this is our regular spot. The happy hour menu is small, but it has lots of good bites like sweet potato fries, chips and queso, tots, and of course, wings. I don’t love spicy foods, but I like some of their wings. I’ve heard amazing things about the spicy options, but those just aren’t my cup of tea. I LOVE their nachos. The pulled pork is tasty, and the cheese is so yummy. The whole combination of it all makes my mouth water. Tons of seating, totally kid friendly, TVs, and good beer options.

I’ve been craving a restaurant like this, and on a sunny day… they have exactly what I want — cold beverages and flavorful food that delivers that little twang of decadence I like from occasional treats of «junk food,» only without the junky feeling from crappy ingredients. Fire On the Mountain is a full on F*CKYES on all scores! My dude and I are wings freaks(second only to tacos). When I have a fully functioning oven, being a private chef(and capsaicin junky) I’ll whip up two or three different sauces and seasonings and serve em up volcanic hot. So I appreciate restaurants who not only offer other options, but and and do… do it better! And when it sucks to turn on the oven, I know exactly where we’re headed. Both times, the Husband had boneless wings and sticks with the traditional buffalo flavor as an easy decision, but says he was not disappointed as even the buffalo seemed stepped up. My first visit, I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with the Buffalo Lime Cilantro sauce and liked it SO much, that my next visit I had the Buffalo Chicken Salad and let the chicken do all the talking(sometimes wraps kind of muddy the flavor — not really so in this case, but I wanted nothing coming between me and my chicken!). Fried Pickles?! WHAAAT?! HELLYES, get them in my MOUTH! Tater Tots? Uh, yes please! Tasty fries… I could go on and on. So looking forward to trying their other fare(and more tasty sauce options!). Yaaaay! Thank you Fire on the Mountain! You guys are singing my special chickeny song!

I first came here because of the tantalizing option of vegan buffalo wings. I have been coming here about once a week for many moons now. I love to get the jerk chick’n sandwich. Everyone is so sweet here. The atmosphere is chill. The food is incredible! Don’t leave without a bottle of their homemade sauce!

I’ll start this off by saying this is one of my first introductions to Portland. We landed at the airport, and went from the car to this restaurant. I was told because its a great place to eat if you love wings. I was open to it because I was hungry after a 10 hr plane ride, but I was also tired and cranky. However, any place that serves fried oreos and twinkies, kind of has a way to «turn that frown upside down!» If you want a «cool» place to hang out. Eat here. If you want a plastic egg crate plate of a dozen chicken wing sauces — Eat here. If you want to experience a piece of Portland /West Coast Flare — Eat here. If the only place you have had chicken wings is at Hooters(I live in Florida, that’s what we got) — Eat here. And if you are a person that hasnt had fried oreos — and loves oreos, hands down — Try this place out!

I normally try not to post bad reviews but I had a craving for the GW Carver Chicken Sandwich and off to FOTM we went at 1030 at night, we arrived at 11PM(the restaurant is open until midnight every night). We were informed pretty rudely that they only serve fryer food past 11PM. As I started to look and point out the sandwich on the board the rude cashier just pointed at the food past 11 menu. Nowhere on the website(that I’ve seen) says this. Nowhere on the takeout menu I have says this. So we just left FOTM used to be one of my favorite places to go, the interstate location is right up the street from my old office. As they’ve expanded the quality of service and value just isn’t there. I don’t care that the wings are smaller than other places(that probably means it’s not pumped with weird growth chemicals) but things like only putting a piece or two of celery in your basket or being stingy with the blue cheese dressing. You are paying 1 dollar a wing that should come with more than one blue cheese dressing per six and a few strings of celery. Used to be my fav, the spicy peanut sauce is amazeballs… I wish there was a little more care for the customer at this place.

I was never a huge wing person until I came here. The buffalo lime cilantro has got to be one of my favorite wing flavors. The spicy peanut only when I’m really in the mood for it. Fried pickles are delicious and one of the only places that will give you a pickle spear instead of a round. Onion rings are amazing, along with the cajun tots. Finish off with the fried Oreos. I know that just screams heart attack, but it’s too delicious to pass up. They have an awesome happy hour as well with most of these items on there.

Love the Electric Mud. Changed my whole view on Stouts. And we did get the wings with capsaicin on them. We sweated and cried all the way through. Will be back for more.

It pains me to write this review, but I have to do it. I have been coming here for over six years, and slowly but steadily it has gone very downhill. When I first started coming, the wings were served on a large platter to accommodate the big portions, which included celery, carrots, and two ranch/Blue cheese per every order of six wings. Now, the wings are extraordinarily small, dry, overcooked, and generally lackluster. At best you’ll get three slices of celery, and one sauce per 12 wings. The sauces are still fantastic, but that alone doesn’t cut it. The gradual slide toward exploitation of their good brand, and delivering a low quality product and experience leaves me super bummed. I recommend you buy their sauces at the store, and just make your own wings. I do not plan on coming back, except to possibly take a picture to bolster my claims.

I love the variety of sauces for your wings here! Everything tastes fresh and made to order. I got the lime cilantro sauce and it was delicious! It’s super tangy so if you don’t like that there’s plenty of other sauces to choose from. There’s a tray up front with all the different sauces if want to taste them first before you order. It’s self service, so you’ll need to get your own drinks and seat yourself. When I’m craving wings, I’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I were recently on vacation in Portland and someone suggested that we check out Fire On the Mountain– I’m glad we did! We got here around 7:30 on a Thursday night and the place was packed! So packed that after we ordered at the counter we had to wait around for quite awhile for someone to get up so we could have a table. I’m not a big fan of staking out tables in bars or restaurants, but I guess this place is so popular you have no choice! They have a lot of TVs and I think a lot of people were here to watch basketball on the night we were there. For dinner I ordered six bone-in wings and my husband ordered 9. I got mine hot and he got his with the spicy peanut sauce. We also shared a small order of the tots. The tots came out first and they were really crispy! Shortly after that our wings came out and they were pretty big wings. My sauce was very flavorful but not hot, my fault though for not ordering a hotter sauce. My husband really liked the spicy peanut sauce on his wings. They also came with a few pieces of celery and your choice of ranch or blue cheese. At the front of the restaurant they have the sauces out to try. I didn’t try them myself because it didn’t look like the cleanest set-up for trying the sauces and I noticed that many of the sauces had mixed together a little bit. Overall a really good and clearly popular spot for wings!

There’s this scene in an episode of The Simpsons where Barney encounters a semi-truck full of Duff Beer [For them young ones in Unilocal nation, Barney is a raging alcoholic]. It’s a powerful image, one where our esteemed social drinker proudly proclaims to the audience that they should just run an IV of Duff straight into his veins. For better or for worse, I have a similar relationship with this place. Case in point, it’s gotten to the point where I’ll get giddy with excitement at the mere mention of hot wings. The crispiness crunch. The symphony of spicy goodness, vinegar, butter and god knows whatever other spices that they lather that shiz in. While there have been a number of competitors to the PDX wing throne, few have been comparable to the almighty FotM. There’s just something about that sauce that keeps me coming back for more. More. MOAR. Ahem… excuse me. I probably do have a problem, but that’s okay. You’ll understand when you eat here.

Sometimes you want a full meal, and other times you might want a little meat snack. Fire on the Mountain is great in either of these circumstances. You can order bone-in or boneless wings in various quantities. My favorites: Spicy peanut: So delicious. Could be a little spicier in my opinion, but always a winner nonetheless. Cilantro lime: Tastes a lot like spicy/standard buffalo sauce with added tang from the lime and herbs. This is the sauce I dream of when I’m craving wings. Bourbon chipotle: Somewhat lower spice, and not a ton of chipotle flavor, but less sweet than the standard BBQ so it’s better in my opinion. There are also lots of fried things, some good salads and great sandwiches, but I tend to go for the wings. Only complaint: More celery, please! I’m guessing they skimp on this because a lot of people don’t touch it, but I love it and would like more than one celery stock worth if I order a couple dozen wings!

If every time you stop in someplace and always leave with a great feeling, that’s a place you should share. Fire on the Mountain is one of those places. Yes, the wings are spectacular. And the beer is great. The atmosphere is festive. And the staff is friendly. But this is definitely one off those places that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Afterwards, I never can quite point to the what, but I always know that I got good value and had a great time here.

Wow how about some amazing wings. Probably the best onion rings and tater tots I’ve ever had and I really don’t enjoy either one of them. I love that when u go up to order ur wings u can taste each of there sauces with some celery. My fave is the raspberry haberno it’s not too sweet and a nice amount of heat. We got 24 wings and 4 sauces but the raspberry was my favorite we also got the medium, sweet BBQ, and the cilantro lime. When u order them u can have them covered with sauce or u can order then naked so that u can dip. I like to order them naked to dip but also makes for a nice crispy wing. Idk what hey do to there tots but the Cajun tots are amazing and are actually cooked all the way through. Nothing worse then a half frozen/raw tot. Oh don’t forget the onion rings i don’t know what they do here either but by far the best I’ve ever had.

Ask for sauce on the side! Ensures that you are greeted with crispy wings that you can sauce up as much or as little as you please. Tried the Jamaican Jerk, Ethiopian BBQ, and Soon to be Famous Spicy Peanut wings. They were pretty good. It’s definitely hard for me not to compare to some other wing spots that I’ve had in the past and I think the flavors here really strong for the sauces. However, maybe it’s just because I was too greedy and added too much sauce to my wings. Either way, I’ve got plans to return!

Everything is kinda meh about this place. Meh wings, meh sides, meh service. The wings were okay. At the register there’s a place of sauces and sides of celery so you can taste test which ones you want on your wings. The only one that I found myself liking was the bbq one. Everything else was just too salty or just overpowered my palette. The sides were mediocre. For fries that claim to be fresh, i would expect them to be hot and crispy. The fries that came out were crispy for a good 5 minutes then turned into soggy lumps. The service was okay. They bring your food out to you fairly quickly, it’s just hard to get someone’s attention because the staff is usually behind the counter getting drinks or bringing out food. Not one of my favorite places.

LOVE the fact that you can sample all their sauces with celery right before you order. Makes it easier for all the first timers. Ordered the appetizer sampler and 48 wings between 4 people. The appetizer sampler had the perfect amount for my friends and I. It had fried pickles, onion rings, fries and mozzarella sticks. The onion rings and pickles were pretty big so it can quickly fill you up if you eat too much. For the wings we got medium sauce and raspberry habanero. Expected both of them to be really spicy, but they weren’t. It had the perfect kick of spiciness. The wings were cooked perfectly! Had the right amount of crisp and I love how they don’t drench the wings in their sauces. The space is pretty big & every table had a deck of trivia cards to keep you and your friends entertained! Would definitely come back if I’m ever in the area!

I can’t recall my first experience here since it was about a year ago, however, it made an impression on my boyfriend. I feel bad since I normally Unilocal about a day or two after a restaurant experience so it’s fresh in my mind. All I can remember is I liked their food.. . This second time around, I know I won’t forget how great my food was! I asked myself, how did I not Unilocal about this the first time? I do remember ordering wings and tots. My boyfriend claims that I had ordered something that was really good but can’t remember either. We are getting too old. Anyways, back to the food. So, I order the Emma which is a fried chicken sandwich with bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion and their Buffalo Bleu Sauce. Did I mention that their bleu cheese is homemade??? OMG! Super chunky homemade bleu cheese just melts my heart! Cool thing about their wing sauce choices is that you can taste before you commit. I love that part, because sometimes you choose something that sounds good, and then you get it, try it and just isn’t what you had expected. I have nothing but awesome stuff to say about Fire on the Mountain. What I like is that it’s open seating, and they also have outdoor seating(not sure during the winter months, I’m assuming no). You also approach the counter first, order, pay and they give you a number to set on your table so the servers can bring you your food! I love it! Casual dining, where you can watch a game on one of the several TV’s and have a great brew on tap or in a bottle. I love the food, the atmosphere and the whole laid back Portland vibe. Hope to see you there…

This place is off the chain good! And rather affordable at that. We got a dozen wings; half buffalo garlic, half raspberry habanero. Now you may notice when they come out that they’re not the largest wings on the block but you’d be pleasantly surprised to read that the chicken used is open range, grass feed organic. The ranch tastes freshly made. I like mine creamy and the ranch here is the more dill and watery so not exactly my fav but was still good. The sauces are on point! The raspberry habanero is absolutely brilliant! You taste just enough raspberry to make your taste buds jump for joy when the habanero slips in to make it a real mouthgasm. The buffalo garlic sauce is exactly that; a great addition of my favorite spice garlic, to my favorite original wing buffalo sauce. I definitely wouldn’t get less than 6 a person. Service was fast, organized and very welcoming. Another happy establishment that makes you want to come back for more. From what we noticed this place is constantly busy with a steady flow of people coming in and out. Parking isn’t too bad here. At least you can find some if you drive around.

Craving some major heat, I went back to FOTM and ordered six El Jefe wings($ 5.95). After a few minutes of waiting, the wings came out absolutely caked in El Jefe sauce. So thankful I wasn’t doing their El Jefe challenge that day. Speaking of the El Jefe Challenge, the rules have changed in the last few weeks. The current challenge is to eat 15 El Jefe wings in seven minutes(or faster). However, if you can eat 15 in five minutes(or faster) while only getting one napkin and one drink, you win a free T-shirt(but still have to pay for the wings). Just like last time, I dove in like an idiot, going fast and furious. The first couple of wings went down pretty easy, but the last two or three were hellacious. The El Jefe sauce left spice burns on my lips and everywhere near my mouth. Only when I stopped devouring the wings(took maybe a couple minutes) did the El Jefe sauce put a stranglehold on my mouth and stomach. Yeah, I wasn’t feeling very well afterward. But some dairy(I went with yogurt) and a generous amount of water extinguished those flames. I’ll eventually get around to trying some of FOTM’s other menu items someday…

Here for the second time! Today I’m here on a Friday around 1 p.m. to try the Vegan Drumsticks. The last time I was here I got the Portland Wings(vegan) which I also really enjoyed. This place is fairly spacious with both a large indoor area and several wooden tables outside. I came right over lunch, so all of the outdoor tables were taken. I was still able to find comfortable seating inside right by one of the large windows looking out towards Burnside. The atmosphere has both bros and hipsters enjoying the place side by side. I ordered the Vegan Drumsticks with Hot Buffalo Sauce(not vegan) and Ranch(not vegan). I was surprised when they told me the hot buffalo sauce had butter in it and think they could have better signage describing which sauces are actually vegan. I’m vegetarian, but thought my vegan friends would appreciate this being easier to navigate. The vegan drumsticks were friggin’ awesome! I will definitely be coming back.
