Wow amazingly delicious wrapped in an old grandma’s friendly service.
This was a really good experience. I really wanted a donut so I looked up bakeries and I couldn’t find one in the immediate area so I settled for his bakery. This place is amazing. The tiny little grandma comes out to help me with what I want. They have one large cooler case full of cakes and cupcakes, so Advertised with a hidden surprise :-) and another cooler full of pastries and cookies. They had eclairs and espresso cookies, baklava, brownies, and a bunch of other stuff. I tried A cinnamon twist which didn’t have a donut texture but more of a croissant texture, and a delicious double dipped cherry pocket which was a tiny cherry pie in a pastry that had been glazed. It was freaking amazing. Amazing. If you’re in the area or you’re looking for a wedding cake definitely go here. I will be back next time there’s a birthday. The prices were very reasonable too. it was only $ 3.75 for both of my items and their layer cakes are $ 14.

My sister has been coming here for the past couple of years for every event and I must say, it’s probably some of the best cakes ever!
They have a cake that tastes just like a hostess cupcake! The cakes are always really moist. The creamy filling is always light and fluffy. I’m not a fan of lemon filling but theirs is pretty delicious as well as their raspberry one.

I called His Bakery after doing some online research to find an awesome local bakery to support for wedding-​cake sized order. I gave them creative freedom with a little direction to create a Portland-​themed, 4-​tier cake for an event I was helping produce for my business. From first contact to delivery, the crew at His Bakery was timely, efficient, and soo incredibly kind. When the cake arrived, it was more beautiful than I had imagined and sooo delicious! We did a different flavor for every tier and each one was a hit! There was not even a lick of frosting at the end of the night. Great prices, great people, and amazing product.

We came to visit relatives from California and needed a cake for my son. DELICIOUSNESS! we had the chocolate indulge for my sons 5^th birthday. It was perfect. Not too sweet. We loved everything about it.

Amazing cake! Have driven by here many, many times but never needed anything. Gave them a shot at a quarter sheet cake for a friends birthday, and they did NOT disappoint! Cake looked amazing… we requested a patriotic theme for my friend who «loves ‘Murica»…and it was BEAUTIFUL! Tasted even better — chocolate with raspberry filling and the best buttercream I’ve ever tasted. It was like your grandmamma and Martha Stewart opened a shop!

They just gave me a few random free samples and they taste incredible. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ going back. Owner guy is very sweet. You just gotta be sure to cath them when theyre open…

As I am writing this review, I am eating my 2^nd slice of Bavarian cream 2 layer cake. I have used them several times and decided I needed to write a review. There cakes are delicious. I started going them several years when my cousin ordered 30+ cupcakes for his daughter’s 5 bday. I think I must have scarfed down 3 or 4 cupcakes they were so good. Usually I find the frosting on cakes and cupcakes way too sweet or artificial tasting. When I asked who they used, they shared they love this bakery.
While the cakes are delicious, my kids and I were not big fans of the shortbread cookies. They were rather bland and dry.
As mentioned by other reviewers, the place is rather old. There is no parking so one will have to park on the street. If you have to carry a large sheet cake, this can be somewhat of a hassle.

Love the baked goods cookies cakes and bread. I would always recommend them. Worth the trip to get there

This place is definitely not your typical everyday bakery. The moment you walk in that door, you’ll feel amazingly warm. I’ve encountered with lots of bakers before, but the people work at this place are just at a different level. They truly love what they do, and it reflects on their products. I got Cloud 9, the Champagne Cake, and the Banana cake. Cloud 9 was a little sweet on my taste, but the texture was good. My favorite has to be the Banana one. It’s moist, not to sweet and the banana tastes amazingly good. This comes from a person who doesn’t like banana as much. I’m very pleased with the cake and my whole family thought so too. I’ll come back for more!

I’d give it five stars just for the quality, food, and service, but I do have to take something away for the neighborhood, building, and the fact that the place is just generally run down.
First the service, it’s great. But I’ve noticed that most places with Unilocal reviews these days are paying enough attention to, well, pay attention to their customer service.
If you order something, expect them to call you and remind you. They care enough to do that. They will also help you pick out what you need if you tell them what kind of event you are having. And even though the owner is Christian, they don’t go shoving their beliefs on anyone, or discriminating against anyone that I know of. I don’t know if they like or dislike any particular group of people, and that’s the way it should be. Come to think of it, if a business owner should not be able to turn down a customer for their beliefs, I guess the owner should be allowed to believe whatever they want also. That sounds pretty fair…
OK, I hope I haven’t offended anyone with my soap-​box rant. If I have, I apologize, and that certainly was not my intention. I’m easily distracted by sweets.
On the Sweets note, The sweets here are the best thing about this place. They have a nice selection of cake and frosting flavors for custom orders, and also have some popular combinations you can choose from. My favorite are the cream pies. They are unbelievably good. The very best pie I have ever had in my life (sorry mom.)

We drive by His Bakery frequently and it’s a struggle not to stop each time we see it. Buy the Cloud 9!!! You will not regret it! Mmm

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Don’t judge a bakery by its cover either. This place might not look like a high end bakery but it tastes like one!
They did our wedding cake and it tasted amazing!
We had so many people tell us it was the best wedding cake they have ever tasted and we agree. We had a chocolate bottom with a lemon poppyseed and raspberry filling top.
Not only will we recommend them for cakes in the future but also stop by once in awhile to get random baked goods.

We hired His Bakery to make our wedding cake after my best friend used them for her wedding cake. It was delicious! I was worried we ordered way too much cake but it was so good that many of our guests had seconds. Thankfully we still got some leftovers to enjoy after the wedding. I just wish they were closer to where I live so I could enjoy more of this bakery!

I love this little bakery off of 72^nd and Woodstock. My co-​worker turned me on to it after she requested I pick up a Cloud 9 cake for our monthly birthday lunch. The Cloud 9 is a chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse and buttercream icing and oh my gosh is it amazing! They have other flavors like mocha or strawberry, which I have yet to try, but they all look good! Not only are they a cake place, but they are also a pastry place with a good assortment of cookies, muffins and pie. I try to resist getting other goodies, but the last time I was in, I got a maple nut scone and it was delicious. Definitely one of the best places if you need a cake or other desserts!

The blueberry muffins are the bomb. So dense, cakey, soft and loaded with blueberries. A must try!

I ordered my dads 70^th birthday cake from this bakery blindly (without trying there product first, which I never do). I wanted a golf/​sailing themed cake with two layers to make it extra special. I ordered chocolate cake, filling and buttercream. Just to decorate the cake nicely they put a layer of white buttercream over the top. Firstly, the cake tasted amazing! Everyone at the party thought it was way good and would definitely go there again. The decorations turned out amazing and the cake held together for the traveling plus one day of not eating it. The cake was affordable, and they delivered just what they promised. I’m a baker so I tend to be a harder critic on bakeries, but if you haven’t tried this place, make it happen! (While we were waiting to pick up the cake, we tried there apple strudel and cranberry orange scone, they were fabulous!

My friend referred them to me, raving about how wonderful everything was there. From their cookies to their cakes and pies, she said I couldn’t go wrong with them. As much as I love the look of fondant based cakes, I knew from experience that fondant doesn’t taste that great, and I wanted my cake to taste great and look great.
They had many cake flavors to choose from and even cupcake options as well, with filling if you wanted it. We chose cupcakes because they’re mess-​free and bite size. My husband actually went there before me and bought a few cupcakes for fun, raving about how delicious they were. He said the cake was moist even after a day or two and the frosting was nice and light — none of that over-​sugared lard other places had used. They also had cake stands/​cupcake stands for rent at a reasonable price, which was awesome because other places were charging an arm. Their pricing was a little steeper than other competitors; however, their cakes were worth it on taste alone.
We had two cakes: pink champagne cake with white chocolate mousse filling and white cake with lemon mousse filling, all topped with a single layer of smooth iced buttercream frosting. We chose not to add details like flowers or swirls because it cost extra, but the entire display was simple & lovely, decked out in pastel colored cupcakes (of pinks, ivory’s, greens and peaches) with simple white colored frosting on top. They also delivered the cupcakes on the day of our wedding.
Their location isn’t ideal, having them located in Southeast Portland, OR near the corner of 72^nd Ave. and SE Woodstock Blvd. Their shop is a small one, tucked behind a local pub amongst a housing community. The shop almost looks out of place, but is noticeable giving its red and white striping on the front of the building. The shop itself is small in size, offering a small viewing area for goodies and a few tables and chairs. Parking is limited to street parking, offering no designated lot for guests.
Would I order cakes/​treats from them again? Absolutely! Would I recommend this place to others? Yes.

I was recommended to them from several other gals and was very pleased with the outcome.
When we met for the cake tasting I was very surprised with their quick and courteous service.
They were super helpful in catering this idea I was envisioning.
And the best part, the price! Under 500 for a 4-​tier cake!
