Horrible food, not sanitary, old crusty dry food. only slept 2 hours last night due to food poisoning :(. It pains me to leave bad review but this place is scary. Worst part is I brought my wife and little boys. Do not eat at kings Buffett

Came in with family for a quick lunch. The best service I have ever received in any chinese restaurant!!! For those that go to ANY chinese restaurant, you know what I am saying. My plates were constantly taken back and my drinks refilled. There were only 5 tables at the time, but i like the attention. There was a great selection of food to eat, but as said by one other Unilocaler, it did seem like there was a whole lot of chicken dishes. The salmon looked decent, but not pink or orange, so was it a WHITE wild salmon? who knows. I did like the coconut chicken(which was deep-fried), the broccoli chicken was excellent and the fried rice was just ok. I never went to this place when it was previously owned and named Hi-Hat, but this restaurant seems nice and clean. It could have potential. The dishes need to be changed and revised. Maybe serve an excellent Dim Sum? Oh, and please get rid of the sushi… A chinese restaurant should not serve this. Overall, I would return and give it another chance.

I hate to do this… but wow. By far the worst Chinese Buffet I have been to and that pains me to say. It’s a rare occasion that I actually get scared to eat something… but at Kings I just couldn’t bring myself to do so with over half of their items. Sushi — looked stale and dried out. Fish did not seem fresh. Did not eat. Seafood — very visually unappealing… and there was beef ribs in the middle that looked more like dog food soaking in jelly. This made me sad. Only tried out the baked salmon which was very fishy in taste. Chinese dishes — Yikes. When I arrived much of the dishes were out or almost out. It seemed to be taking them quite some time to replenish. It wasn’t until I left that most of the dishes were brought out. All were quite bland. Most dishes were chicken. Very few vegeterian options and all had the same gelatin nasty-ness covering them. They actually all tasted similar… thank goodness they had siracha sitting on the table. I was too hungry not to eat something. Even the rice looked icky. How can you screw up rice?! Salad/Fruit bar — Most Chinese buffets have these and I am typically delighted to see. But lettuce and dressing is not really a salad. Oh wait, they had sliced olives. The lettuce wasn’t even really chopped. Fruit even looked old. One of the ‘dressings’ looked like it had been sitting for a month… not kidding. Dessert — EH. The sugar donut was dried out. The ice cream was the only item palatable. Fried Foods– You can’t really screw these up. I ate some crab puffs… they weren’t bad. They also had french bread, fries, egg rolls, gyoza(also not terrible), but I passed on most. All in all… I will not return. I’m actually surprised this place is still in business. Nothing was fresh and for $ 8.50 for lunch — no thanks. I just hope my meal stays down. *knock on wood*

Nasty! Nasty! Nasty! How in the hell this place rates a mediocre three stars(on average) is beyond me. We went as a compromise since I love Sushi and the SO loves seafood and anything fried. The sushi was old, stale and lacking in anything resembling flavor… in fact, no amount of wasabi could dress this old hag up. Egads! The fried food had clearly been sitting there for hours on end, was dry, hard and lacking in even a modicum of flavor. Oh, and did I mention the smoked salmon? No? Well there isn’t really anything to mention other than it was clearly something that fell off a homeless person’s cart three days before we got there. The rest of the«seafood»(and that’s clearly a huge assumption calling it seafood) was so suspect that we declined to partake fearing a trip to the Emergency Room would be in our immediate future. Calling this place a Chinese Buffet is like mistaking Portland for Los Angeles. I mean, they are both cities and they are both on the West Coast, but that’s about as far as the comparisons go. I’m sorry we spent $ 17.95 for the two of us to eat this poor representation of food. What kind of poor self-esteem does one need to have to serve this drivel and call it food. Even the 25% off coupon didn’t make this place worth-while(although, perhaps the 25% off coupon should have tipped us off). On the plus side, here’s three people who won’t be back… EVER! In these serious economic times, one hates to see any business go under but this one, this place needs to just stop.

Karaōke with Callie is da bomb! The bar staff is amazingly nice and even the owners will come in and check on your and say«hi». Early morning and late night food deals are, seriously, too good of a bargain to mention. OK… so I will mention…$ 6 bucks for a plate of food from the buffet after 9PM and most breakfast is under $ 5 — you cant even get a fast food meal deal for that anymore! Patrons are worth a mention. When the hubs and I came, it was clear this is a «regulars» bar, but they are not shy! Come and get chatted up, sing, or simply hang out and enjoy a cool libation.

Seriously the worst Chinese Buffet I have ever eaten. Only thing good was the steamed rice and frozen yogurt.(Can’t mess those up) sushi was old, all the fried stuff was hard and stale, crab legs were tiny, etc. I wish I just drove pass this place!

BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH… I hate to lower their rating but seriously this place is going down hill. We came back after few months. Now, they serve small crabs. For the cold ones, they cut these crabs into halves. For the hot crab dish, they serve little crabs… I don’t even know what kind of crabs they are. They don’t have crawfish any longer. Most of their dishes are Chicken stir fry type of dishes. All the hot foods were old and they didn’t refill them fast enough. Their desserts are old and stale. It’s really disheartening. I don’t think we will be back here for a looonnnnggg time. Bring back those big juicy crabs, we might be back.

There’s just something about divey Chinese buffets that really speaks to my heart and stomach. There are a few questionable items here at Kings Buffet, but there are more importantly some amazingly good things here as well. And that’s part of the fun of a questionable Chinese buffet experience: the gamble of getting an item and having it either not pay off whatsoever or pay off in spades. For example, in the good column, their baked salmon is decent. And if you’ve ever been to a Chinese buffet, you should know that any baked fish is on the to-avoid list, so «decent» is fantastic. Also, they have a nice variety of sushi rolls and steamed mussels. However, on the sushi front, it’s probably best to stay away from the tempura California rolls. Sure, it’s a good idea in theory if they’re fresh, but if they’re left to sit too long, you’re now just eating something fried and cold, and that’s no good. And in the column of «depends on when you go» the crab legs are either off the hook or whatever the kids are using for the opposite of «off the hook» these days. But, for the money, you can’t really go wrong here. Just bring your good judgement, your adventurous spirit, and your empty stomach.

Not the best Buffet, especially when I used to live in the Buffet town like Las Vegas(for only 2 months)… but I was very impressed with this one waitress at Kings Buffet, she couldn’t really speak English that well but she tried, she spoke English with confidence, with great smiles and great attitude. LOVEIT!!! Food was A-OK! Nothing bad just average Buffet food. I like that they have King Crab legs though(and during lunch). YAY!!! They might need to clean or even replace the sinks in the restroom though!

Good food!!! I went on a Friday night(yesterday) and it was only 12.95 for a dinner buffet. Since I plan to eat my heart out at buffets I don’t order soda or any calorie packed drink since I can get that(and more than a days worth) from just the food. I go to eat as much sushi and crab that I want. It is definitely worth the price. Crab was okay tasting though, but sushi made it worthwhile. I’ll post pictures. I saw a review about the jello being bad, really? I only try the good stuff to make going out worth it. I can make 50 cent box jello anytime when I’m bored. The salmon sake sushi was great, but the tuna sake wasn’t cut right. The rest of the sushi was great too!!! I loved them all(well at least there were plenty I can was happy with)! The Sushi chef was bustin his butt in the back(wished they had a tip jar to make him go faster as I cleaned him out, lol) Besides that I do manage to eat other items. I love chicken and broccoli and there really isn’t a way you can mess that up. They definitely had a wide variety of choices. The calamari wasn’t crispy(but I’m sure it was at one time), the crab puff was a little different than I remembered. I was very happy about the variety of seafood options. Crab, mussels, clams, lobster? and even oysters! I like shrimp and their Coconut shrimp, breaded fried shrimp, spicy shrimp and shrimp with veggies were all tasty good! They also have a lot of none seafoody white boy food since I went on a dinner date and he was full by the end of it with whatever else they had(chicken, BBQ pork and so on) Desserts are always the same in any buffets, but this one seemed to have somewhat slightly more of a bigger option. I just stick to the usual… cake and ice cream. Chocolate Vanilla and Swirl(for those who only go to buffet for dessert)!

Yeesh, is about what I can say about this place. It looks big from the outside but overall the food wasn’t that great at all. The dining area is nice but that’s were it ends. I never had chow mein(lo mein) as salty as this one was served. It looked good from a ways way but once you put that stuff in your mouth, instant dehydration. Lips, shriveling, skin dry, need water… So while you tackle for something sweet to go with your salty mouth go ahead and try the jello. Or maybe not. This jello was wack! There was a plastic like skin on the top of the jello. This only means one thing, the jello is truly old. I mean it had to sit in the walk in cooler for a very long time for it to develop the plastic texture on the top. Not fresh… That plastic jello was inedible and the only moist part of the jello was anything underneth the plastic force field. You can’t even tear that plastic apart. If the jello has this plastic substance that you can’t eat, I can’t imagine whether everything there is recycled or just plain bad. Leaving on somewhat a good not, the green beans at the time of my visit was very fresh. I can’t really trust sushi at any buffett place, not even at a high profile casino. So I didn’t touch that. Service was alright.

This place was very disappointing. The food was not fresh at all. It all tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Really gross and a complete waste of money. :( The search for a great Chinese buffet in our area continues!

It was Christmas and our household of 4 college age friends didn’t really have anyone to dine with, so instead of groceries and putting together something we decided to seek out one of the only things open on this particular day and this particular time: oriental food. Instead we decided on this. Oh my god, it blew me away. One of the housemates had been before and talked it up, and it completely lived up to the hype. Besides chewy snails, but who cares right? Sushi, crab, coconut shrimp, scallop shells with a bunch of little scallops in a butter/cheese sauce, etc. Pineapple, something orange that was delicious, fresh grapes, etc. Frozen yogurt, chocolate cake, mini pastry, etc. Oh, indeed. Kings Buffet is boss. Go eat here.

very warm and sweet restaurant for dinner or lunch. They have Chinese and Japanese cuisine tasted classic and authentic. Vegetable is fresh and plenty of choices for dessert as well. Also the seafood such as lobster and salmon are nice. My recommend Asian buffet in Portland! If you would like to go with group of fiends, they can provide the room for party or you can just go celebrate in the bar combined with the restaurant.

I had noticed Kings Buffet on the border of Tigard &SW Portland but never gave it a try until one day I decided the local chinese lineups were not doing the trick. I gave Kings Buffet a chance and boy was it a good decision. Kings Buffet offers all-you-can eat buffet at likely the best price in the Metro area and inside you will find a modern, newly-remodled buffet that offers everything from Seafood & Chinese Cuisine to Sushi and American. Hands down this place is my new buffet pick and honestly I was expecting mediocre food!

Have you noticed how hard it is to find a decent buffet serving seafood? I mean, without having to drive to the closest casino on a Friday night. I recently had a guest visiting from Japan and she was hoping to find an all-you-can-eat seafood joint so I jumped on Unilocal and King’s was the only place that held much promise. Plus she wanted to go to Costco(«the store where everything is HUGE!») so we were able to kill two birds due to the location. I am so glad we did. The place was clean, the price was right and the choices in seafood were amazing. I counted at least 6 shrimp preparations, crab legs, oysters, crawfish, salmon. And the sushi? All I can say is wow! Okay, so maybe the sushi could have been a bit more varied but it was still yummy. My friend had at least three plates of food… for a tiny little thing I still can’t figure out where she put it all… so apparently she enjoyed the food as well. The only regret as we paid was learning that they serve lobster on Saturdays and Sundays only. And we were there on a Friday night. If you’re looking to fill the gullet with all kinds of seafood without breaking the bank, this is the place to come.

This place was the old Hi Hat restaurant and to me it still is. I first started going there back when it was next to Burlington Fred Meyer when I was a teen. We used to enjoy this place until one day of bad service(Hi Hat). So whats new? They took out a few booths, replaced ½ of the carpeting with tile and added a buffet line. Will be great for the drunks from the bar to stumble over to. Speaking of the bar I haven’t been in there in years but I bet it hasn’t changed much either. Ok so lets get right down to it, the food is ok, not the best I have had but it is edible. Price is ok for what you get, service is standard for this type of place(not friendly). I don’t want to stop anyone from trying it out but we wont be back, Changs is just up the street.

Among many risky first-time visits, none can be more of a risk than the Chinese(+Sushi) Buffet. Longtime greasy Chinese diner HiHat closes, and a new owner decides to open a Chinese buffet. The first thing you notice is that everything is immaculately clean. Rightfully so for a restaurant that has been open for only a few weeks, but this was a special kind of clean that was noticeable and appreciated. The greeter and waiters are very attentive and smile genuinely. The food on my Monday night visit was fantastic for this type of buffet. The Salmon Nigiri was actually surprising fresh and cut generously. All the Chinese Buffet staples are here: seafood delight, several preparations of saucy chicken, backed muscles, frog legs, crab casserole, salt and pepper shrimp, etc. The sushi selection was Tuna, Salmon and Octopus Nigiri with an assortment of rolls which all seemed to be too similar but with different sauces. There was definite quality here that I didn’t expect from an inexpensive buffet. Overall I was very pleased with the visit and would return and recommend to others. Definitely felt that it was $ 13 well spent.
