U-Haul Moving & Storage of Tigard

This U-​Haul location provides excellent customer service. Their employees are very friendly, outgoing and have quite the sense of humor. They made sure my trailer was completely connected to my truck and that everything functioned correctly as expected. The trailor was extremely clean. Thank you for everything!

Be wary, the mileage on the contract was incorrect when I left. I indicated it to the guy at the counter and he said he would correct it and saw him write it on the contract. When I received the email receipt it had never been corrected. Plus even though the gas gage indicated full when I left, it obviously wasn’t. I only drove 26 miles and put 9 gallons back into the truck. And the gas gage went way past full. The truck was old but worked well and drove better than the Penske Truck I drove the day before. Also better price than Penske/​Home Depot. Just be on your toes watching for the nickel and diming when you go to rent one of these U-​Hauls.

Worst experience I’ve ever had!!! Reserved a truck a month in advance, show up and they can’t find the keys. Plus to top it all off the car carrier that three employees swore would fit my truck, didn’t. So now I have to fly back, just to pick up my truck making my move that more expensive! Arrgh!

Seven miles, start to finish. Three hours total to load, drive, and unload, 57 bucks, plus 3 bucks for gas. Definitely worth it. Especially if you have a half a dozen friends to carry the furniture down two flights of stairs. They were very grateful to see the new place on the first floor. :-)
The store personnel were extremely helpful and professional. They really know their stuff too. I’ve noticed that the more popular Unilocal gets, the better customer service gets everywhere. This is a good thing.

I’m in the process of moving. It’s taking me forever, it has been raining, and I have 2 helpers, a pal and my hubby who are both sick with a new version of the flu and surviving on dayquil and nyquil.
This is my 4^th time in over a decade that I’ve used this location u-​haul truck rental services. This is the first time I’ve had such a pleasant experience with the customer service agents.
The LDS missionaries came to help us a couple of times, which I’m very thankful for! These are are great, young, strong, patient and helpful young men who want to help you out with service. It’s super awesome!
I rented the truck for 3 days. Paid $ 29.95 + $ 14 insurance each day. I’m happy that this u-​haul location has true customer service. I truly feel taken care of every time I call with a concern or a question.
I guess the verdict will be after all said and done, but right now while in the process of moving, they have been hands-​down totally and completely awesome!

Usually I dread going to these places. They could have been more helpful, thanking care of my box order, advising me and even holding the items I couldn’t fit in my car. Presently surprised!

Came here to rent a van just for a quick Ikea pickup and although the service was slow at first it went pretty smoothly once they got to me. I did an online reservation and dropped it off the same day, drop off was super simple as was checkout. Overall better than many U-​Haul locations I have dealt with.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE! They miscalculated the mileage on a van that I rented and didn’t explain to me that I had to confirm the mileage before I left. After only adding 40-​ish miles to the odometer they tried to charge me for 150. And then when I explained the issue to one of the employees he was sarcastic and rude the entire time, saying that whoever helped me worked there for 15 years and wouldn’t not explain something like that to me. I was shocked that I was given that kind of approach to such an issue. I’ve never had such terrible customer service in my life. Also, after explaining the situation to a coworker he told me the same place tried saying he didn’t leave any fuel in the truck after renting it, after he dropped it off with a full tank. Do not go to these guys for anything. You will regret it

I rented a van and made the reservation online. Had no problems and Anthony was not only very helpful, but also courteous and professional. Will definitely use again in the future.

DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION FOR ANYTHING! Had an appointment to get a trailer installed on the wife’s car. The only information I had been provided was that it needed to be taken in that morning. I was called to the counter by a man (didn’t know he was the manager at that time). I told him about my appointment, he asked my name, no sooner than I said it this large mammal with obviously limited social skills and lack of professionalism from down the counter, whom was helping another customer all together at that very time i might ad, chimed in in the most belittling and condescending manner possible, «Ya… That was an hour and a half ago. Were booked and can’t get you in now.» As I was walking out the door he decided we should keep exchanging words, then ended very passive aggressively with an, «Sounds good! Have a nice day!» Im fuming at this point. Left. Then turned around and asked his name and to talk to a manager. I never did get his name but I spoke with the manager and he was very nice. He agreed that’s not how business should be conducted, but oddly enough that employee acted out right in front of the manager. They then wanted to sweep everything under the rug and reschedule my hitch installation service. Sorry i only give my business to people that respect their customers. Admittedly, i didnt have all the information relayed to me from my wife, the person who made the appointment. None the less, you can handle it better or be half understanding. Say sorry we cant accomodate you now or offer another appointment time. There was no solution in that employees comments. He was simply being offensive and trying to publicly make me look stupid for an appointment time I was completely unaware of. I’ve used uhaul for every single move I’ve made in the last decade. Six states to be exact and this very incident will be the one that drives me to penske or a friggin pack mule train. Its in principle people. Customers make your business. Treat them good. Believe me, each and every customer counts. This one will spend his money elsewhere.

U-​haul they rent trucks and install trailer hitches. I have used this location for both.
Truck rentals have always been pretty standard. My hitch installation went to total shit though.
My appointment was for 4:00 PM. they didn’t start installing my hitch until after 5:00. I understand running behind, but at 4:00, they said it would be started in just a few minutes.
Nobody came to tell me what was going on. A little communication goes a long way in keeping me happy.
The Sherwood location is just as close to me so I will probably get my trucks from that location the future.

Possibly the worst experience I have ever had from a company. I got three different quotes from three different people and was told its because some of them are higher ranked than others. Really? That’s not fair to the customers. Then when I mentioned that they should all be on the same page they decided not to deal with me and just add an extra fee to my bill (that they would send me). In my personal opinion I felt that they didn’t care if they had my business or not. As if they were the only way I could get my belongings from point A to point B. But I hope they realize that word of mouth (i.e. Facebook, me being a bartender and a social butterfly) is how businesses make it these days. I will never recommend this place to anybody. These days you can rent a zipcar van for $ 30 with gas paid for.

I am part of an organization that regularly rents 26′ trucks. I have rarely had padlocks that function properly, and now make it a priority to check before leaving. I have loaded a truck and been unable to open without returning to the location.
In addition to having this occur again this past weekend, I was rented a truck with a driver’s door that wouldn’t close properly. When locked, you could not unlock the door with the key, forcing you to enter through the passenger side. The loading lights would not stay on, creating more unsafe conditions. As it turns out, the battery appears to have been about shot!
The customer service is all over the place. Friday night’s crew was very helpful, while tonight’s didn’t know the meaning of the phrase; despite renting trucks 4 times a year, and having rented a storage locker for over 5 years now. Loyalty appears to mean very little. As such, I believe it is time for our organization to make a change!

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! WORST EVER!!! Arrived at 7am, on time for our appointment, the man Chris picked up the phone & asked US to wait while he had a full on conversation on the phone! THEN, after he gets off the phone, asks Jose to get Amanda to come help. Tells us to wait while he makes ANOTHER call! Then Amanda finally comes to help us. We go out to get our trailer. We let them know we need to leave early because were heading back to CA. Jose goes to hook it up, says we need a new converter, but insists that he can’t do it because we need an appointment. Needless to say, no one else was here, but supposedly he couldn’t do it now. We go back inside, Chris says he has an appointment at 8, it’s now 7:20, and he says it takes a half hour to do it. I ask if they can do it now. He says they don’t have time?! NO ONE ELSE IS HERE!!! So he asks Jose. Jose says he doesn’t have time. I point out he has 40 min! Amanda says «I’m not saying no, but can u do it Jose?» n he’s like «ehh, no time» so I’m like you guys have «no time» but no one else is here n the next appointment is at 8… Then Chris is like «well I guess you have to do it Jose. they want it done now.» O_​O seriously? Yes, pls do it now! We told them we have movers going to the location were heading to & we have to head back to CA! They all huff & puff and give us the hardest time JUST because we want them to do it NOW instead of making us wait for 2 hours?! We asked & asked till they finally agreed to do it. WASTED our time, gave us a hard time. WORST SERVICE EVER!!!

I’ve used this location to rent moving vans/​trucks at least 3 times and their services are the best. I reserved a truck on-​line and everything was ready to go when I arrived. I’ve rented an 18′, a 20′ and finally a 26′ truck. All went well, trucks were in great condition. The staff are efficient and helpful.
I also used their moving helper service this last time. You can hire at least 2 guys to do the heavy lifting. The next 2 paragraphs are about the movers.
We had a problem here, not with U-​Haul but with the first movers contracted, Lightning Movers, who have good reviews. These guys were one of the least expensive and we might have found out why. They were good about calling ahead to set up the time for our move. But on the day of the move, when they were a half hour late, we called them to find out what was up; they didn’t call us. They said they had to find a guy to replace one who called out sick. Long story short, 2 hours after their appointed time and no movers, we called U-​Haul to find us someone else. They were quick to find another available mover. (Lightning Movers finally called to get directions, they were lost!)
U-​Haul got us connected with Up Town Movers, who were in the Lake Oswego area. They are based in Salem. They were able to set us up for the afternoon. The 2 guys showed up early! Josh and Derek (or Duane, sorry guys, I’m not great with names) worked quickly and efficiently. Even if this was their second gig of the day, they didn’t flag. They got us moved by dusk within the 4 hour minimum. We don’t plan on moving again, but if we do, we know who we’d hire; an U-​Haul on SW Pacific Hwy will be my go-​to rental outfit.

I visited this location, not to rent a truck but merely to buy a box. They have a lot of boxes in a lot of sizes, all at pretty good prices compared to other places i checked. It took a little longer than it should have due to two customers hogging the registers with ridiculously complicated rental inquiries, but i’m assuming that’s not normal.
And maybe this is a problem with all truck rental places, but the other customers were all awfully sketchy. I swear the guy in front of me was renting a truck to dispose of bodies. He couldn’t have looked more awkwardly suspicious if he tried.

These guys were on the ball every step of the way. Fast and knowledgeable in every regard. I could not have been happier.

I have twice rented here — trucks were ready, clean, and in good shape. The terms of the contract were well spelled out and they made sure we were aware of them, not just tossing them in print and expecting us to read through but calling attention to key points.
The online reservation page seems to lock up every time, in two browsers, before I can complete; but I just called and was all set up in just a minute or two.
They DID fail to have a hand truck with our van rental, but that’s an unusual request (since there’s no ramp in the vans, the hand truck isn’t useful — we wanted one to deal with a slightly long path AFTER getting out of the van at one of the houses). But they sorted it out, and were very apologetic and helpful.
