When I first bought a Groupon for New Moon Massage, I got an appointment pretty quickly. Like others though, I had trouble scheduling a second appointment with her, after something came up and I needed to reschedule. However, she does now have online booking(yay!) which makes scheduling appointments much easier. Even if I had trouble booking appointments before, she gives a good massage. She listens and she gave me advice on stretches that I can do at home to help with my problem areas(I have on-going knee/hip issues and I’m training for a powerlifting competition, so my body is tight and sore constantly). I feel a lot better after getting massaged from her, and I will go back before my competition.

I purchased a Groupon 60-minute deep tissue massage from New Moon Massage in April 2015. I have called and called and called. The voice mailbox was full most often and I was not able to leave a message at all. Then the voicemail was accessible and I left several messages stating that I had purchased a massage and wanted to set up an appointment. I never received a call back. I paid $ 37.00 and like many other posts here I wanted to help this gal with her business. Women in business rock, right? No… not in this case. This is really an unthinkable way to run a biz. I’ve been in business for myself so I know what it takes. This is a lost cause in so many ways. No returns call? No acknowledgement of people who have purchased your product? You just blow them off? Really? Alot of women have tried to participate in making your business successful. Do you not see that? DONOTPATRONIZETHISCOMPANY.

I purchased a Groupon then attempted to call the number listed on the website to make an appointment. Her message inbox was full. I proceeded to call for the next week with no luck. I even showed up to the address at her listed office hours and only to be told wasn’t there. Save your time/money and go elsewhere!

I have similar experiences with all of the other people on here! I purchased two groupons for Mother’s Day. I have called about 10 times with no answer. Her voicemail box is full so you cannot leave a message. I also emailed her with no response. I am bummed that my Mom is not able to get pampered like she deserves. Waste of money! Do not waste your time with this lady!

I bought the Groupon because it was a good deal and also she has a good review in Groupon website. I wish i check Unilocal for review. My sister bought and has the same problem as all the reviews on Unilocal. On her website, she sounded like a good person. I was going to help with her new business by being a good client(giving her a big tip to make up the cheap cost for a message) That’s just too bad. I wish Groupon will not put her in Groupon list anymore. Specialy after the review from this Unilocal,Ms S complaint to Groupon on August 2014. I am disappointed with Groupon also. I am not sure if i trust Groupon anymore.

I’ve had a knot in my neck and back for awhile. I was talking to someone who suggested looking at Groupon. So, I bought a 90 minute massage at New Moon Massage. For two days I called, but the voice mail was full. Finally, after searching I found the email address. I emailed them. A week later and still no response. Fortunately, I had an uneasy feeling about this business after the voice mail was full for two days and requested a refund from Groupon. The sad thing about this is that I have my own business and help small businesses secure matching grant funding. I even have several clients who are massage therapists in the program, but to avoid conflict of interest, I choose not to go there or any of the businesses I work with until they have left the program. In my opinion, Groupon can be a great tool to help generate interest in a new business, but at a very steep cost of 75% revenue. When abused by using it as a main marketing tool, it can become a disaster for a business. Groupon wants businesses to offer at least 50% off their rate for services, then when they sell it, the business gets 50% of the sale. Considering the massage was $ 55, that means the business received $ 27.50 for a 90 minute massage that they should charge $ 110 for. For a massage therapist to generate $ 18.33 per hour means they are likely aren’t making a profit. After paying overhead — rent, phone, insurance, licenses, utilities, etc what is really left for them? They have to schedule a ton of appointments to make up for that loss. This is what will lead to over booking, over working, and poor customer service. It is very simple business economics.

I bid on a massage package for New Moon Massage at a local auction to benefit student scholarships. Like the other reviewers I had great difficulty with communication with Jennifer. She returned my call two weeks after my initial call and left a message saying that she would not be available to schedule massages for 4 weeks. I called back to see about scheduling in the timeframe she gave in her message and I haven’t heard a word from her since. That was almost 2 months ago. At this point I feel extremely uncomfortable at the thought of getting a massage at this business. Bodywork is intimate and involves trust and the lack of communication and responsibility on behalf of this business makes me uncomfortable. I know that disruptive events can happen in people’s lives. I am not sure if that is happening in this case. But I think if it is, leaving an outgoing message to the effect of «due to unforeseen circumstances we will be closed until ____________.» would be a way to begin to communicate the situation better. Poor communication and lack of responsiveness is not a good way to run a business. And you are just letting people down by not honoring your commitments, such as donating your services to an auction and never following through. Unlike with Groupon, at least some students will receive some benefit from this situation.

I also bought a Groupon, actually two, one for me and one for my husband. I called before the expiration date and she was scheduled 2 months out, which was fine. But then my husband and I were both ill the week before, so I called the day before to reschedule. No call back. I called again the next morning, before the two massages were supposed to happen… still no call back… not until 5 days later. Then she left a message saying I hadn’t given her 24 hours notice but that basically she could do me a favor by honoring one of the massages, to make up for the fact that I gave her such short notice. I left another message to work it all out, but it has been almost a week since that call and still she has not reached out. I no longer want a massage from her. I find this behavior unprofessional, being a business owner myself. You don’t conduct a successful business that way. Thanks Groupon for the refund.
