It’s a stretch to give one star after going there on Tuesday night with my daughter. The hostess looks like she’s bored or angry, completely disinterested in being there, not a good person to have as the first person the customers meet. Our server seemed to be distracted, would walk by constantly but never would ask if we needed anything, and at the time there was 2 other customers. Our server then disappeared somewhere when I wanted to order dessert. Shari’s for the most part is well run, but not this one, at least on the day I was there

The food(scrambled eggs, bacon, French toast) was perfectly OK. The service was not OK. We were not offered water at all, which we had to ask for, and while our waitress was a nice woman, she spent her time standing in a little nook chatting with another employee and not checking on us until it was time for the bill to be paid. Even though it was Memorial Day, the dining room was barely busy. Ron and I are friendly customers who don’t demand a great deal. I’m sad to have to leave this two-star review when I usually receive friendly and good service at sister restaurants in this chain.

Recommended by Motel 6. Was a bit skeptical until we walked in the door. Found out this is a chain which we enjoyed in Twin Falls Idaho. Greeted as we entered, prompt service with a BIG smile. I had the bone in ham platter and hubby had the chicken & waffles. Wow amazing food. Kim our server was awesome. Will look for a Shari’s on our travels

I don’t live in the Portland region, but I stayed near Shari’s and was intrigued for two reasons: First, it’s open 24 hours, and the second reason is because it’s a diner, and diners will always have a place in my heart, and not just in my arteries. Food: I ate their twice and wasn’t exactly thrilled with the food. The first time I went, I had an omelet which was small and just kind of bland. I actually forgot ham was in it because I don’t recall tasting it. The hash browns were decent, but even the sourdough toast was relatively tasteless. I went back and just couldn’t see paying full price for a tasteless meal. I noticed one of my colleagues ordered a «pie shake» which is basically this place’s saving grace. That was my meal, because I really didn’t have a desire to eat anything else on the menu. I seen what others had ordered and just wasn’t impressed. The shake was tasty though, and I loved the uniqueness of it being a pie shake. Atmosphere: Really nothing memorable. The décor was forgettable, it wasn’t that clean. Just an uneventful place for an eatery claiming to be a diner. Staff: They weren’t particularly friendly. Definitely not the most welcoming staff that I generally find at a diner. They weren’t rude thankfully, but most had the«I really don’t want to be here right now» expression painted on their face. I get it, work sucks sometimes, but kind of disappointing to see that. Price: I thought it was a lot of money for the portion and the quality. Both did not meet expectations so rightfully the price should be at least a third of what it actually costs. Overall: It was a disappointing venture, and I will try to avoid it next time I come to Portland. If you decide to eat at Shari’s, avoid the breakfast. You are safe with the shakes though. Can’t speak for lunch or dinner, but it didn’t look that great either.

Sharis on 181 is the most getto restaurant I ever went to the cooks dnt follow ingredients or the servers dnt write dwn your order accordingly so your food is nvr cooked properly then when you try to address the issue of your food made wrong the servers cuss you out, roll there eyes, yell at you, get attitude, hang up in your face, man its a disgrace ! that place should be shut dwn for real no one carry themselves professional or knw how to work with the public that works there. not even the managers they dnt apologize or take accountability Nine na some rude African American lady was so rude to me I thought I was ordering my food from a prison the level of disrespect she gave me put it like this we have monthly meetings thete I went above and beyond to have our meet place at dennys I can’t deal with the disrespect no more sharis you suck it’s sad your food so good but your servers sick so bad I would rather not eat there period. One last thing I will be making phone calls to the better business Bureau consumers rights and to there corporate I have so many complaints snd dates it’s terrible they need to fire the whole team including the general manager there and start over.

I am so upset right now. I jist had surgery and obviously am not up to cooking for my family. When i called my order in the lady who answered was less then friendly. I ordered 2 quiches and 2 sides of hollendaise sauce. I ask the woman how long before they are finished. She said about 15 minutes. I get home and they are FROZENSOLID. The hollendaise sauce was filled in 2 seperate cups abput ¼ or less of the way full. I called upset and the man who answered proceeded to tell me i need to ask for them cooked. Why would i call in an order and ask how long it takes if i expected it frozen?! I would give 0 stars if i could. Ive been craving this all week and drove down being nauseous and this is the treatment i get… Will never return again!

Worst dining experience in recent history. We went there with my wife’s parents and a friend. When we were seated we noted that some of the place settings were missing forks. We were told they would bring those right over. After 10 minutes the waitress came back to take our order and we mentioned again that we needed some more forks. Three of us ordered a «loaded» bake potato with varying toppings(butter, sour cream, bacon, etc.), one chop salad, and one prime rib dinner(which was the special that night). We then waited another 40 minutes before the waitress came by to let us know that it would be just a few more minutes. After another 5 minutes she back to tell us that she was«sorry, but they ran of of the prime rib» and to make matters worse she then told us «they apparently ran out before we had even placed our order»(which was at 7pm). It was now 8pm. They asked if they could replace the prime rib with a steak, which was agreed to, but it would take another 10 – 15 minutes to prepare that. In the meantime the rest of us received our food. While the chop salad was fine, the 3 baked potatoes came with butter and sour cream on all three(which some of us did not want) and 1 little bowl of shredded cheese, 1 of chives and 1 of bacon. I guess it was easier for them to make it ‘self serve’ rather than prepare each potato with slightly different toppings. And at least one of the potatoes were still underdone. My wife had to start eating her potato with a spoon while we asked(one more time) for several more forks! Eventually the steak arrived(after the rest of us were practically done with dinner). Although they comp’d the steak dinner, we will never set foot in there again! Horrible service, and a serious lack of staff communication,

The entire time I was there the staff was gossiping about their work situations and dealing with HR. There was also some inappropriate talk about prostate exams. Good subject to be talking about when you have to choose what to eat off the menu. Sorry but I will not be back to this Shari’s. Because they were talking among themselves it took entirely too long to get our food and then to get our check. The food was not that exciting either the meat on my sandwich was very chewy and bland.

This is a Denny’s with a different menu. The food was what you’d expect for a diner like that. The service, however, was really great. I had a cinnamon roll french toast that was so over the top. It was great. I must have eaten my entire caloric allowance for the day in that one meal though. My husband had a burger and fries and thought it was pretty decent. I will be dreaming about the decadence of that cinnamon roll french toast. It was so naughty, but I don’t think we’ll go back. We just can’t eat like that very often.

potato soup. baked potato soup. it was tasty, and the salad we had with it? rounded out our meal. I’ve never been much of a fan of chains, and especially the ones my mom picks. elderly people always pick places I never would. the service was great, and the place was clean, and all in all? I was satisfied. way better than other shari’s I’ve been to. seriously.

Always terrible service, waitresses aren’t friendly, food takes forever to come out, waitresses are hard to find when you need water or a check or ranch or anything. Disappointed me. I went more than once to see if maybe I had a bad experience but nope, its always the same

I broke my «not eating at Shari’s» promise recently. Somehow I ended up here twice in the past two months. Once for dinner and once for late night«drunk» must have food consumption activity. I must say, this Shari’s is not as bad as previous Shari’s that I’ve visited in the past. Services were prompt and friendly for both occasions. Food were acceptable. I had the Chicken fried steak both times just because I love anything with gravy. I will even eat desserts with gravy(if someone gave me $ 5 for it). Overall, it’s a Shari’s. Don’t expect gourmet or four stars quality of food. It’s decent and it’s convenient when you are in the neighborhood.

Since I’ve been here(Gresham, Oregon), I’ve eaten at Shari’s three times. All times, the wait-staff was alright. Nothing that made me think WOW or that I’d come back just because of the service, but it was alright — they got their job done. The first time there, I wasn’t very hungry. It was late at night. .. Around 11. I got the loaded baked potato soup — SOOOOOOOGOOD. I want to go again before I leave this place just to have that soup! It was thick(thicker than clam or corn chowder) and was LOADED(haha) with toppings; green onions, sour cream, bacon, and cheese. It also had chunky pieces of potato, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Second time eating their food, I actually had it in the hotel room. Was feeling to sick to go out with my friends, so they kindly brought my food back to me. I had your classic breakfast, bacon, eggs, and hash browns. My friend did say that they waited ’till they were almost done eating to put my order in — which was nice of her — my food was still hot when I ate it. The eggs were alright — again, I think I make my eggs better. The hash browns were a little soggy, but I think that’s because it was in that box. And I didn’t like the type of bacon they used — it was a thick cut and I prefer thin cut bacon. I did think it was pretty good though. The last time I ate there was yet again at breakfast time. I got the meat lover’s skillet. The meat lover’s skillet as described on Shari’s website is: A warm skillet with smoked bacon, country ham and sausage on top of Shari’s golden hashbrowns stacked with peppers, onions and cheddar. I got it without the peppers and onions, but it was soooo good. I loved it. I ate it ALL! Which is very unusual for me! I loved it. I didn’t really care for the sausage that they used however, so halfway through the skillet I started taking out the sausage. I liked Shari’s and would eat there again.

Awful experience. Went on a late night Friday. We sat for 15 minutes waiting to place our order and no one stopped by. We got up and asked if we could place our order and was told that our server would stop by. Waited another 5 minutes for our server to stop by. Three(3) tables after us placed their order, was served and finished before us. It was cold out and we wanted the daily soup, but not the loaded baked potato. Sure, it was a late night Friday, but you would think there would be at least one daily soup besides the thick loaded baked potato, but no. Instead, we settled on ordering sandwiches with mayo on the side. We understand that diner food can be greasy, but super salty? Our tongues stung from the high salt content. We never received our bill and just walked to the cashier. If you want to see what the talk is and hang out with the local elderly, there are other Shari’s locations, go there, no here.

Ahh, the 24-hour ghetto-classic-awesomeness of this place automatically gives it four stars. «Smoking or non?» asked our hostess/waitress with the husky cigarette voice upon walking in. I didn’t even know they still had restaurants that asked that. I peered over to the smoking section, where some of it was bordered off for Keno machines behind swivel doors. «Non,» I replied. We knew going into it that you really only go to Shari’s for one of two things: breakfast or dessert, both of which are fantastic. Well, I mean, as fantastic as you’d expect from someplace like Denny’s. We obviously opted for the latter. You go to Shari’s with the intention of getting pie(a slice is actually more expensive than an entire pie… WTF?!), but when it comes down to it, you end up getting a milkshake and French fries. Yup. And both are pretty damn great. Or, I mean, you could switch it up a bit and get the black forest lava cake. Or a sundae. Or the crazy/awesome machine-made hot cocoa with a bunch of Reddi Whip on top. It’s comfort food, complete with the laminated and spiral-bound menus. And discounts for the«Honored Citizen.» Yup, it’s definitely not fancy. The booths squeak, and one of the late-night hostesses hangs paper strawberries from the hanging lights. But it’s always fun to go here really late at night with good friends, and remember the times in college when you came to get away from homework…
