Signature Imports

I love this place! Great selection of Day Of The Dead statuary and sugar skull items.
They support native artists and their prices are good too. The staff is friendly and helpful. I never leave this place without one or two skulls.

Signature Imports is one of a kind. Its a great store in the heart of 23^rd where you can find hand made items from all over the world.
Everything they buy is direct trade and if you dont believe them, ask them to pull out their master inventory book with pictures of all the families they work with or their collection of news paper articles about the store. Its nice being able to buy things from places such as Nepal, Ecuador, and Mexico and know its ethical.
The employees are wonderful and know everything about their product and how its made.
I highly recommend this store for those who want something unique and hand made

Yup, I wasn’t sure about it either. Anywhere that has imports in the title seems a little bit inherently sketchy. And it some ways this patcholli smelling little joint seems out of place in Nob Hill, surrounded by some of the finest local crafts in the city.
But, there are some great things about this shop.
1. They have cool woodsy jewelery, mostly from Indonesia, the likes of which I have never seen. And it’s not just the kind you only wear once, but you can actually dress it up and get some mileage out of it.
2. They claim that all of their products come «directly from the source,» meaning that what they are importing they are paying fair trade prices for and supporting fair global business, always a plus.
3. The staff was warm and friendly and made me feel cozy in the store, even though I didn’t stay long or buy anything.
So, it’s worth a shot if you’re looking to put some cool cactus shaped glasses from Mexico, or silk tapestries into your mix. I would just suggest staying away from the clothes. No– you don’t need that flowery dress that will look so good with a summer tan. It will end up in your closet, unworn next to the six other ones you thought would look so hot. Get a nice one, with good material, trust me you’ll wear it more.
