Place was clean. They have a fair variety of sushi. The sushi itself was about average.

I came here twice a day every day last summer. It’s the best medium grade sushi for cheap you can find. Although the service is really stressful, and sometimes you get ignored altogether.

I’m a big fan of this place. Everything that I tried was fresh and delicious, especially the tuna. We ate like pigs on New Year’s Day and it was dirt cheap. The Tempura Udon noodle soup could be bigger for the price, though($ 8.95 for a small bowl) but I was more than happy with everything else. I will come back.

I was walking on Broadway St when I saw Sushi Ohana. I thought, «sure, I could use a bite to eat… why not?» Not the best decision, but at least it was cheap and I didn’t pay an arm and a leg for this sad experience. When the waitress took my drink order, I asked for a cup of green tea and miso soup. I was pleasantly surprised when she gave me a personal pot of loose leaf tea, but grimaced when I saw the miso soup. After a few spoonfuls, I decided not to finish as it was not the type of miso soup I am usually accustomed to. It was just very odd — it was a dark brown color, grainy, and just totally lacking in flavor. Definitely skip the«miso» if you decide to come here. Regarding the sushi, it was alright. It wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t great. I think they had a nice selection, but I think the sushi chefs need to up their game. Oddly enough, a big group came in and the waitress tried to squeeze the entire family between me and another group around the sushi bar. She made me move closer to the lady next to me and added a two more chairs on my right side. There was obviously no more room for people to be comfortable, even people in the large party. It was just very strange. I remember the service being so-so. I had to flag down my waitress for a refill on water and also my bill since she was nowhere to be found most of the time.

they have raised prices 3 – 4 times since opening, the availability of fish has gone down and the service has not improved. I was really hopeful for this place, but now i say give it a skip

So CHEAP! Great happy hour value! Parking: Can be bad because it’s street parking on a busy street, but if you’re willing to walk a block or so you can find something in the surrounding residential neighborhood. Food: So I confess, the sushi itself is just okay, nothing super new or creative, but their happy hour prices are AMAZING! And their deep fried calamari — WOW! So delish! I went back the next day and got an order to go. To be honest, I’m not sure what I ate because we just got the sushi off of the conveyer belt. Tip — to get the freshest sushi you can special order with the waitresses. Service: They are VERY busy during lunch hour, and other times too so you have to flag someone, but it wasn’t impossible. They were very nice and friendly though! I also left my purse on the back of my chair and they ran out to return it. THANKS for being honest! Recommendation: Will definitely be going back next time I’m in town — you should too!

I have been here now a few times for their lunch special and it makes me happy just thinking about it. There’s always a solid selecion of options on the sushi train — I’m sure it’s somewhat limited. But I go in and choose my 3 sushis and one seawead salad and I sit in a somewhat tight space and go into my own little sushi brain. I really like their food. When all is said and done I’m full on less than $ 8, so there’s not much to not like about lunch specials at this place. The folks are nice the location peachy. Limited parking but I always find a spot.

The novelty of the rotating plates is always interesting, but the quality was not there. Unfortunately we walked in starving and chose a wide array of dishes and most of them we left untouched after a bite. Also getting table service was really difficulty and they were not helpful to the polite little one we had with us when tired to order rice and drinks. I wouldn’t go back again.

I LOVE this place! The happy hour prices are crazy! My friend took me here a few months ago when I was in Portland visiting, and this was the first place we went to when I moved to Portland this week! The yellowtail sashimi is decent quality, the different tempura rolls are addicting, the seaweed salad is tasty and the hot tea is comforting! Watching the plates go by on the conveyer belt is oddly therapeutic, and the fish in the fish tank watching their«friends» roll past them is morbid and hilarious. This is definitely going to be a frequent spot for me.

Upon arrival at 8:30, I had to double check the closing time as it seemed like the staff assumed the restaurant was already closed. They were cleaning and preparing for close with no regard for customers coming in for dinner. The bar was desolate, with a total of maybe 12 plates; all looking pretty rough as they had been on that bar, undoubtedly, for hours. With lack of selection on the bar, naturally we took our seats and placed an Order(with a waitress who I doubt could have been any less interested). Not long after ordering, we began to receive our sushi… The calamari was tough and flavorless, the asparagus roll: mediocre, the gyoza: meh, and the crispy California roll: ok. I was assured by my dinner companion that the philly roll and spicy salmon were good. Even worse than the service, was the smell. Not the smell of the food, or of a fish tank, or something like that… The smell of the waiter. His body odor permeated what had to be a 10 foot radius and lingered for some time even after he walked away. It was bad enough that we didn’t even want to order refills, knowing he’d be within«odor range». Over all, this place could be good… The food isn’t horrible, and the location/style/interior are nice. But it’s going to take a few showers and some effort to ever warrant me returning.

Conveyor belt sushi! Had a sushi lunch feast with my wife for about $ 16 before tip. Nothing was mind-blowing, but the food was all quite good. Some fun, creative rolls alongside nigiri staples like salmon(which was awesome), octopus and tuna(which was a bit chewy). They also had non-sushi items rolling past us on the conveyor like fried salmon collar, egg rolls and gyoza. Their lunchtime happy hour is incredible and you really can’t find a better value for sushi. I wouldn’t take someone here I was trying to impress, like say a client, but I’ll eat like a king here alongside friends or coworkers any day.

For a quick bite and fairly cheap prices for sushi. Your typical conveyer belt sushi place. Salmon was delicious and the tempura plate was reasonable($ 6.00). Don’t expect the world from the quality, but you get what you pay for. And it’s on par with quality to price. Orders sometimes took awhile and they forgot one item I asked for. But they took care of things quickly.

Sushi Ohana is a solid sushi place for cheap sushi boat, especially at the time we went because from 11 – 5 is happy hour and most dishes are $ 2 with some being only slightly more than $ 1. Since the price is low, don’t expect anything fancy or super gourmet, but for what it is, the quality is great. The restaurant was not too full, and we were able to take our time to eat without being rushed. I ended up spending only $ 12 for a six plates of sushi, and the rolls and fish were larger also, which made the cheap price even more worth it. This is a place I would go to for quick cheap eats after work or school or if I am feeling lazy and do not want anything too fancy, far, or expensive.

I was craving sushi and decided to give this place a second try… unimpressed. The sushi was warm & lacking variety. I love crab, but wouldn’t recommend ordering the crab cakes… the crab is mixed with mayonnaise or some sort of sauce(very unenjoyable). The employees look extremely miserable. The conveyor belt thing is filthy. All in all, I would rather wait the long wait at Sushi Land, around the corner, and enjoy an abundance of fresh yummy sushi and deserts :)

I eat at a lot of different sushi restaurants and this place is my new favorite for quick, flavorful and inexpensive sushi. It has a conveyor belt system, which is always taunting you as it rolls by with multiple choices to pick from. I always go during HH, which is perfect for lunch as it is 11:30 to 5. All plates are 1.95 except for green ones which are 1.25. As everyone says the Salmon Nigri is a must have with it’s nice portion size. My favorite are their multiple rolls in which to pick from. I try to stay with the most expensive rolls that are on the red and black plates to get the most bang for the buck. The Tsunami roll is one of the better ones. Also worth mentioning if you like Mussels is to order the baked Mussels when you sit down an they come out nice and hot. All in all a excellent choice for Sushi.

The sushi here is quite fresh, and the prices are pretty fair. The sushi with just raw fish on them have really big pieces! I like their spicy tuna roll the most; I had that, lion king, shrimp tempura, salmon on top of rice, and another tuna? roll with orange blobs of sauce. The conveyor belt constantly had a variety of plates to choose from, and the sushi quantity on each plate was good — usually four pieces, thin pieces but still four of them. I was quite full after I finished my plates. The service was basically non-existent, so I felt strange tipping. I have no complaints about the food!

Love it! Fresh rolls and great calamari. Love coming here where I can expect good service great food and(because of location) at least one annoying loud customer. But I still like it here.

Honestly I can say I love this place. First impression: The view from the street it looks really nice. Not a strip mall place but it is in a building with a couple other cute places. It has the sushi train which is my absolute favorite. Descriptions on a menu are never enough! The décor is nice! Not over done and tacky. There are always people in there! It was packed at 2:30pm yesterday. The happy hour deal is amazing, definitely worth going in for if you like the spendier sushi. Its clean, the sushi tastes amazingly fresh, the conveyor belt of sushi is always full. I will go back as often as possible. Their selection of sushi is perfect, there is a lot to choose from but the place mat with the pictures of each makes it so easy for me to branch out and try new rolls.

Oh lawd what people get away with by just being convenient… If this place wasn’t right next to my house I would never give it a second chance. Sadly, I am a sushi addict on a budget and I have been more times than I would like to admit. With their comically huge nigiri cuts of fatty, farmed salmon and their«everything is better with surimi(krab) and Sriracha mayo» approach, this place epitomizes bad kaiten. Not one of their miserable staff speaks any English beyond mumbled hello and thank you. If the food didn’t bring itself to you, you’d never get fed. Just grab what you need for a fish fix and get out as fast as you can.

A good friend and I went to an advanced screening of a film at the Lloyd Center Mall and came out of the theater STARVING. We decided that sushi was what’s for dinner. Our first stop was actually at Sushiland, but they were closing in 10 minutes. We went around the corner and found that this joint was open for another hour. I’d never been to this location and I was most impressed with the salmon nigiri. It’s $ 1.85 and well worth it! They’re way bigger than any of the other sushi-go-rounds I’ve visited in Portland. Super satisfying! Since it was almost closing time, there weren’t many plates on the conveyor belt, but the sushi chef near us was there for us and any orders we wanted to request. It makes sense to do that so that they don’t waste any pre-made plates. I’m dinging them one star because as the waitresses were refilling the ginger and wasabi, they reached over to where my friend and I were sitting to do that. Couldn’t that wait til after we left? Other than that, I wanna come back! I hear that they have happy hour from 11 – 5 pm(super long!) where all plates are $ 1.85! That’s a deal I need to take advantage of!
