I’m a believer of second(or third, as the case may be) chances(when deserved, of course) and recently gave Sweetpea a second chance. I’m glad I did because I was not disappointed. I don’t know if Sweetpea has new staff or that their old staff has been been trained in courtesy 101, but I’ve noticed a significant difference. The staff has really improved on the customer service front and I’m impressed! I’ve already been back more than once. That’s all it took for me. Thank you, Sweetpea, for living up to your name. I’ll be back! :)

I love this little bakery! It’s hard to find a vegan croissant when those are usually filled with butter and eggs. I have to say the quiche is always spectacular, that is if I get there early enough to get a slice. Better than any egg quiche I’ve ever had. There is always someone ready to help you if you need anything. Very friendly and I will continue to pop in for a soy latte.

I really wish that I liked Sweetpea a little more than I do. I tried to like them more, I really did! With that said, they have a lot of great qualities but also a few issues that keep me from giving them 4−5stars. Pros: — Though not a gluten-free bakery, they do have wheat-free options. — Nice selection of different types of baked goods such as coffee cake, scones, whoopie pies, tarts, etc. — They have breakfast and lunch menus that includes items like biscuits and gravy, bagels, sandwiches and salads. — Choice of non-dairy milks for drinks like soy, hazelnut, almond, and ricemilk. — Free WiFi — It’s right next to a bunch of other vegan establishments, which is pretty convenient. — Good amount of seating with convenient outlets available. Cons: –Things look awesome but don’t taste quite as good as they look. For example, the cinnamon roll I had was fairly dry. It was good, but not great. –The staff are pretty busy most the time which seems to lead to a lack of customer service and long waits for even simple orders. They also just don’t come across as very friendly. — The WiFi is unreliable and I struggled with it every time I was there. — The times I went there and ordered a cappuccino or latte there was no foam(could be an issue with the type of soymilk used?) and it was just«ok.» The place isn’t bad by any means, but just never as good as I hope or expect it to be. I would go there again if nearby, but I think there are other vegan bakeries and coffeeshop places in Portland that I prefer.
