No frills. Just great food and service at reasonable prices. The best grub near PDX airport.

Everyone should go here. It’s unremarkable from the outside: tucked between a furniture store and a sketchy pizza place in a tiny converted store front. Inside it’s beautiful and cheerfully decorated with green walls and orange place settings and lots of those sweet, sweet cat statues. When I stopped by for lunch(hungover, solo) the place was empty. The only person there was an extremely friendly, extremely adorable hostess/waitress/cook. She let me pick a table and then rolled over a space heater. I got the seafood pad thai which was perhaps more than my belly could handle after a night at Rotture but still very tasty. I ordered it mild and it was«oh hey I’m sweating a little» spicy, which was I liked, and not too sweet. She was super extra generous with the seafood: baby octopi, squid, scallops, mussels, and shrimp. It was also quite cheap. I’m pretty excited to live close by.

The food was wonderful, we ordered Tom Ka soup, it was medium and it was HOT(according to my GF) i thought it was perfect but as someone who has done the blazin challenge at BWW and the great balls of fire challenge at salvador mollys it was pretty hot for medium. We also had spring rolls as an appetizer and the peanut sauce and size of the rolls made them well worth it. For dinner(which we were full by this time) was drunken noodles and pineapple curry which I had never had before. Both were also 5 star meals, especially for the price. Our whole bill was $ 30 with drinks and I felt i received a lot of value for the 4 items we ordered. I will certainly eat here again(and have leftovers the next day!). I would overall give them a 4.5 out of 5 only because they need to be more cautious about the spicing, my GF said she does not like spicy and they said medium would be fine for her when it was not.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the fresh salad rolls were. They were a meal in themselves! The yellow curry and pineapple fired rice were also really good.

I am impressed! Checked out Thai Abode on a random Thursday night, just didn’t want to cook and pad khee mao was calling my name(that, and we have an embarrassing amount of entertainment book coupons left to use before the year is out). I have eaten at various Thai restaurants in the Portland area without finding one«go-to» place so it was time to roll the dice. The other reviewers are right about this place being a hole in the wall, there was literally a hole in the wall next to our table. But that is the sort of thing that I love about cute little family owned restaurants. My partner in eating and I both ordered the pad khee mao and she explained that there was a five star spicy scale. He ordered 3 and I ordered a 2. Warning, a two is pretty darn spicy! The chicken/beef component was a little lacking, but didn’t compromise the overall effect of the tasty sauce and chewy noodles. The thing that really did it for me was the surprise dessert course(!) The server brought over a little plate with two fried wonton wrappers encasing a little fried banana slice and drizzled with honey. Whaaaa?! Who doesn’t like an unexpected and delicious dessert? Add this experience to a charming menu(little pieces of paper taped over, cross outs everywhere) and very reasonable prices, and I will definitely be back!

Friendliest owner ever! She has her two teenage/early 20’s son and daughter helping and they are gracious and attentive. Hands down the tastiest and biggest fresh salad rolls in town. Highly recommend. Hole in the wall with great service and freshly prepared food!

Excellent little gem of a Thai restaurant. Pad kee mao was wonderfully fried and had just the right chew factor. Panang curry was very subtle and lovely. Lunch prices are a steal!

I am a picky psycho about Som Tum, Papaya Salad. To the point where I’ve tried so many places, I’ve learned to «FIX» what it is about the som tum I don’t like. If it’s too strong or fishy, I RINSE it, and let it sit overnight so it’s flavorful but not as strong. Too sweet, add salt. Too salty, add sugar… Re-spice it, whatever. I’m a psycho, I’m ok with it, because the search for Som tum is a worthwhile quest. A good bite sends you through enthralling levels of flavor. Brings you up with spiciness then swirls happiness around all of your senses, then eases you back down smoothly with tangy pleasure. I liken it to a breathtaking romp, almost where you pass out afterward. Mouthgasm! My husband was surprised that it didn’t smell as strong as others, yet it was more flavorful. I took bite after heavenly bite, telling my husband how Thai Abode had won my heart. It was one of those«if you love it so much why don’t you marry it» and after the sensations it has given me, I just might have to! Sorry Honey ;)

This is another great Thai place in Portland. I highly recommend the lunch special. Plenty of food for a great price.

Thai Abode, what happened? We were rocking you hard getting take out at least once a week and after a haitus we ordered our usuals and it’s like you’ve totally changed on us. Did you get a new chef? The orange chicken seems like it was sauced from a jar. The pad thai was lack luster. I am heart broken! I’m willing to give you another try but please, bring back the old Abode we know and love!

A tasty, unassuming little spot just past safeway, on the opposite side of the street. I stopped in for the first time today and took part in their lunch special – $ 5.95 for choice of entrée and meat with rice, soup and an eggroll The restaurant is clean and well lit, the food is good, the music is good(mix thailand with late 50s-early 60s american radio rocknroll), the service is fast and very friendly and very(not overly) attentive. When I went in, it was staffed by two ladies, one cooking and the other serving/hosting. I plan to return during the dinner service so i can try more of their delicious menu. I will also update the listing with correct contact information another day. My stopping in was by chance and didn’t think to bring the menu with me.
