US Bank ATM

US Bank operates a standalone ATM that’s hidden in the back of a parking lot at 3608 SE Powell Blvd adjacent to the legendary ‘Husky or Maltese Whatever’ «restaurant,» or whatever it is (it’s shrouded in mystery and never open, so who knows?!).
This ATM must be convenient for US Bank customers. I’m not one of those customers, though. I’m just an average-​Joe-​credit-​union-​member who needs some cash from time to time, and often I’m too damn lazy to seek out an ATM. As such, I expect to pay some form of foreign ATM fee. It’s the cost of doing business with said ATM, and I just think of it as the price of convenience.
The convenience at this ATM is overpriced. At $ 3 per transaction, the foreign ATM fee at this ATM pegs the needle out on the gouge-​ometer. The average busted ghetto mini-​mart ATM fee in Portland is around $ 1.5 to $ 2.5, so for a big, rich, multi-​million-​dollar-​profit-​making bank to charge $ 3 is just greedy. Even a lot of strip clubs don’t charge that much. While this ATM is convenient, it’s not THAT convenient, and it offers no extra «frills» to justify the exorbitant price.
I did pay the price to get the cash I needed at the time, because I didn’t want to drag my friends around looking for another ATM… but that’s just because I’m, a nice guy. If I were flying solo, I would have gone elsewhere. That doesn’t change the fact that $ 3 is simply highway robbery.
I won’t be returning.
