Wag the Dog

Now called Dog Tribe — This is the best doggie daycare facility we’ve tried in the Portland area.
The employees are caring and extremely attentive to our pooch. She has a blast playing with her friends all day and comes home exhausted. They are also very accommodating to special requests we’ve made.
We will 100% continue bringing our pooch her in the future.
Have not tried boarding options, but plan to in the future as their care and prices are excellent.

I just moved back to the US in July. I am a teacher and work long days. Before, I had a yard, but now we are in a small apartment. I did not want to leave Yoshi my 8 year old husky in the apartment for ten hours a day so I started looking at dog daycare.
WOW! We love it here at Dog Tribe aka Wag the Dog. The owner is one of the kindest people I have met. She herself has three huskies and is very welcoming.
Yoshi is always excited to go and play with all his friends and is exhausted once we get him home. The staff is kind and informative to any questions you may have. Yoshi is also groomed here and I have received complaints on his appearance, great job guys!
I never fear leaving my dog here as they are so good at what they do.

I’ve been taking my many dogs here for nearly a decade, and even before the transition to Dog Tribe, it was a great place. Now it’s amazing. The staff are extremely loving and caring and my dogs literally look forward to their days here.
I’ve also used their boarding options, and I couldn’t be happier. They show the same attention and care I do. I was away for an extended trip, and one of my dogs in their care became very ill. She was taken with no hesitation to my personal vet. It’s this kind of attention to detail and the well being of the dog that sets them apart.
I couldn’t recommend them more.

Dog Tribe, formerly known as Wag The Dog, has been my pup’s home away from home for the last 4 years.
Mr. Buford runs to the front door whenever we roll up! He’s like «ok, see yah Mom, I’m hanging with my cool friends now.»
I’m never worried leaving my dog here as I know that they care for him just as much as I do, and show it. They know his funny habits and his character, which really adds a personal touch.
The new owner has really amplified the awesomeness of this place and her work and changes have not gone unnoticed, the place looks great!

I normally bring my French Bulldog here just for nail trims, which by the way is no easy task. So they deserve applause for that. But today, my dog got out of our yard thanks to a rusting gate latch. I panicked as this dog is my whole world. I ended up at Wag the Dog grasping for help since my dog had been gone for over an hour before my husband and I realized it. Not only did I receive some much needed comfort, they posted an ad for me on craigslist lost and found and the owner even helped me look on foot. Eventually, we found our dog ran amuck at Petite Provence’s dining room and kitchen, ate some bacon and then went home with a nice family who left their number to be give to me once I found out he was at the bakery.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE PEOPLE HERE — I can’t say enough nice things.

I was nervous about leaving our new dog alone and made a reservation at Wag the Dog. The staff were very friendly and made me and my dog feel comfortable. They answered all my questions and called halfway through the day to let me know he was okay. My dog was actually so tired he fell asleep in the car. Tired dog = happy dog.

Our puppy loves daycare he gets so exciting to go play with his friends. At the end of the day the staff always gives us an update on how gus was and who he played with. He seriously loves this place and always gets pumped to walk in the doors. I have never had a problem with wag the dog :)

Every dog I’ve owned has shown me limitless devotion. I return the sentiment in kind. Loving them has not made me blind to each one’s short comings, however. And no matter how great previous dogs have been for me, they haven’t all been so keen in the «play nice with others» category.
And now, now there is Riley. There are, of course, things I would (and try to) change about this one as well — that’s a pitfall of adopting them when they are already 5+ years old. But as for getting along with other dogs, this guy’s a downright gentleman. His temperament has allowed us to foster dogs for Multnomah County, and it has opened our world to the concept of «Doggie Day Care.» Admittedly, this is a concept that used to make me roll my eyes. Not out of contempt, but mostly because I was just super jealous that I couldn’t engage such services for previous dogs.
We have been going to Wag the Dog very sporadically for a couple of months now, and Riley genuinely enjoys his visits. He pulls toward their front door in the morning when we are dropping off, and he is quite tired at the end of the day when we are picking up. He’s more a «mingler» than he is an active player, but apparently mingling with lots of other dogs is still exhausting, and for that, I’m thankful. I like that Wag is open until 7 pm on weekdays. I commute, so sometimes getting back to Portland by 6 pm is nearly impossible. I don’t have to be quite so stretched for time with a 7 pm closing time. That really works well for me.
I always get a little update about how he did that day, and each person I’ve ever interacted with has been super laid back yet informed. One thing that I love about this business is that they answer the phone. The first time I ever took him to daycare I was beside myself worrying about how he was doing. I sat on my hands most of the day, but did call. Twice. Each time, someone answered. No machine. No messages. A real human being, ready to talk to me. I understand that businesses can get busy and that phones often roll over to technology, but in a town with so many day care options, being able to reach a business should be a top priority, and it certainly is here at Wag the Dog.
I am completely devoted to this dog. And I trust the people I have met at Wag the Dog. I highly recommend them for all your doggie day care needs.

I’ve been taking Odessa to Wag for a couple of years. Not only is the staff great, she’s clean when I pick her up and she pulls me to the door to get in. The staff is great in fitting her in a pinch. A tired dog is a good dog. Thank you WAG!

In my household, we work nights. 3 days a week 12 hour night shifts so my sweet german shepherd would be left to lay around and stare out the window where the rain seems to fall and fall while we sleep if it wasn’t for Wag. Our dog LOVES it there and she’s been going since she was a puppy and is now 2 years old. She goes 2 times a week and she’s fullfilled and exhausted when she gets home. She is a social girl and I’m very happy she has the chance to hang out with her pals on a weekly basis. I love Tony, Kelly, Kimber, Jeremy etc… They’re all so wonderful and seem to truly care about your dog. Plus it’s right down the street from our house. Thank you Wag!!!

I love this place!
We take both of our dogs here but I have been taking our little guy Boo-​boo there since I adopted him. Boo was very abused and shot twice when he came to live with me. He was not very social and scared of everything and everyone. So I decided to take him into doggie daycare to see if he socialized with other people and around his ‘peeps’ if that would help with his shyness. Well it worked, with lots of love and patience he is amazingly socialized, loves dogs, people and children.
Who would of thought a dog that was used as target practice and left behind a building in Woodburn, Oregon could have such an amazing turn-​around? I really thank Christine and everyone at Wag the Dog for what they have done for our family.
Also you cannot forget our other dog Miles. He attends with his brother and loves it… he knows when we pull up to daycare that this is going to be a fabulous day full of fun and friends. We have never had a problem with any injuries or sickness, nothing but tired dogs that sleep throughout the night.
We have taken breaks from Wag the Dog, and when we lived in Denver we went to another daycare, which was very fun for the boys. But for some reason we feel that our boys just love this place, its odd because we have tired closer daycares but it just never ‘fit’. And yes, we travel across town once a week so they can attend daycare here and its worth it!

I was really excited to take my hyper puppy here for daycare. Based on the reviews I read, it seemed like a great place!
I dropped my pup off for his first time, and felt a little uneasy since I’ve never taken him to a daycare before. The woman at the front desk reassured me that everything would be great and that they would give me a call if he wasn’t getting along well with the other dogs. I called to check in a few hours later and they said he was doing great!
8 hours later I go to pick up my pup after work. I wanted to take a tour of the facility since I didn’t have time in the morning to do so. I asked the girl at the desk for a tour, and she was extremely hesitant. Strike number one.
Once the girl brought me to the back room to view the various holding rooms, I asked her questions such as «How many dogs usually attend daycare» and «How was my pup throughout the day?» She didn’t seem confident in answering my questions, as if she was hiding something. Strike number two.
I picked up my tired pup and took him home for the evening. At 4 am, a time that he’s usually sound asleep, he was whining and barking for attention. Very unusual and unroutine for my pup.
I woke up and turned on the light to see that he was throwing up all over his crate. I took him outside and he tried to go to the bathroom multiple times. I brought him inside and he continued throwing up. This has never happened to him before and I believe that something happened during daycare that I wasn’t told about.
I refuse to take my pup here again!

I’ve been taking my pug to Wag for several months now, and today, I knew I had to write a review. When I asked my «boy» this am if he was ready for doggie day care, his ears pricked up and he started dancing. Once we parked the car, he started barking and didn’t stop even after we got inside. He was bouncing so much, it was hard for me to get his leash off, and once I did, he ran for the back door that leads to the play area… he never even bothered to turn around and say good-​bye! Now, that’s a dog who LOVES to go to daycare!
The staff always seem just as excited to see him as he is to see them, and every time I pick him up, I get a full report of who he played with that day.
We only live about ten minutes away, but, he’s usually fast asleep within the first three minutes of our drive… with a big smile on his face.
I would recommend this daycare over and over!

The folks here at Wag the Dog have been our lifesavers lately. Our house is up for sale right now, and we’ve had to use them a ton so people can come by and look without being mauled by our aggressively friendly pug. We’ve also used them for boarding a few times as well, he always comes home looking happy and ready to tell us stories of his adventures.
They’ve been super accommodating, even taking him in last minute when we’ve been in a pinch, and all the staff we’ve met is really friendly. My only complaint is that their weekend boarding often fills up in advance, but as long as you know your plans within a week or two, you can get in just fine. $ 35 for boarding (includes a full day of day care too, some places charge extra for that), and they also do ½ day daycare for only $ 10, which is awesome. Normal daycare is $ 23, but they also do several different «passes», 5 visit, 10 visit, etc, at a slightly discounted rate.
So nice to have a place like this so close to home.
