This is a neighborhood bar on a busy corner that will be getting busier with the new apartment building going in. They only have 8 taps. They have a jukebox with a decent selection of music. There are pool tables on one side. The bar is very short so you are unlikely to get a seat at the bar. There are like 2 – 3 booths in the main room and the rest of the room has high tops where you can stand. The place was very cold because of how the door opens to the whole room. I couldn’t keep my coat off comfortably. The bartender was super friendly and everyone seemed to know her.

Great vibe. Great staff. Great beer rotation. Great pours. Great owner. Great regulars. Great jukebox. I’d skip trivia night because pop culture is lost on me and it gets quite crowded but then there’s Seth, always good for a laugh. Tuesdays are $ 1 Hamm pints.

Slow staff, gross drinks, over rated crowded smelly dump. The few times ive been there are just awfull. I will never set foot in this establishment again.

Good drinks, and a warm quiet atmosphere. We came in on a Sunday night, I had a mango marg and she had a Irish coffee. Both were strong and well made. We didn’t get any food, but the orders coming out looked great.

Super relaxed weekday vibe. Don’t miss out on the hot apple cider drinks right now. Random young crowd, random music, high ceilings and lots of windows.

It’s North… by Southeast! Great mix of two worlds here. You get a trendy pub with upscale cocktails, some tasty menu treats, and a classy jukebox… mixed with hipsters, yuppies, and a touch of the lost traveler walking up and down the street looking for the perfect pint to end the night. A friend and I tried it out here. I think it’s one of those place that deserve a lot of style points, but is a bit low on substance. Service is decent, but nothing earth shattering. Great beers on tap, plenty of local brews, and some of the best sounding cocktails in the area. Trouble spots… very very loud, as it’s a small place and when it gets busy you can’t hear the person in front of you. This is exacerbated by the jukebox music. Great music just too loud for such a small place. Also, it’s very dark inside. Feels like it should be an intimate place for a nice date, but there’s no way I’d bring a lady here for that. To be fair, some people love that atmosphere, so far be it for me to complain. It just isn’t for me. Overall, great place to grab a few beers or drinks to cap off the night, but look elsewhere for a bigger food selection and a calmer setting. I’m giving 3 stars instead of 2 because they are popular and I think it’s a great vibe, just not my tone.

From the beer list to the ambiance to the crowd, North Bar is pretty standard. It’s nice, and if I lived in the neighborhood I’m sure that I’d be perfectly fine visiting here on occasion for a drink. But there’s one particular element that elevates North from A-OK to 4-star awesome: the juke box. Juke boxes are typically programmed to have as wide of mass appeal as possible. Instead, the machine at North seems like it’s the product of somebody cracking open my brain and curating a list geared specifically to my music snobbery tastes. So, I MIGHT have had a few beers in me and thus don’t feel comfortable turning in a list of bands that might actually not be featured. But let me be clear: with each turn of the page, I shrieked with delight at more and more bands that I adore. I even made my friends get up from their table to check out the epic selection. Whomever runs this bar truly loves music, and has frickin’ fantastic taste. I’ll be back. I’ll be the guy sitting in the corner, singing along to every. single. song.

Maybe the greatest place on earth! Trivia night is a spectacle unto itself(7:30ish on Monday nights). The prices are reasonable and the food is decent, otherwise there’s badass cart food across the street that you can bring in. Overall: chill and unpretentious

Nice bar on Division Street. Went there post dinner to grab a beer. It has pool tables. Not too crowded and we were able to get a table on a friday night.

Yes!!! Did I really find one?! An actual neighborhood bar?! My favorite part: No minors allowed. That’s right!!! If you pine to be around a family and a cooing baby, THIS is NOT your bar. I don’t. That’s what I’m in a bar. Great vibe. Chill and friendly staff. Fellow patrons are also friendly. Pretty decent happy hour. I will make it to a Trivia night one of these days. I hear it’s a gas. My one complaint and it’s a big one: They don’t have cider on tap. I hear this is apparently a commitment and I urge you, Seth, take the plunge!!!

The best bar in Portland. Not too loud, not too packed. Great crowd, great bartenders, great drinks. Try the hot cider! I always feel comfortable here, and receive great service.

Seth, the owner, and his staff are very friendly and welcoming. It feels like a family atmosphere as soon as you walk in. I’ve been to a couple of their Monday Night Trivia events, and they’re always a good time. Mind you, our team has never won, but with the interactive videos and happy hour prices, we don’t care. It’s a smaller venue so going there during busy hours can be frustrating, especially since they only have one pool table and the televisions are only over the bar. So, if you want to go to watch a sport game, prepare to sit with your neck craned up. I would say this bar is better for meeting a smaller group of friends and hanging out before moving on for the night. Great place to pre-game.

Everyone is very nice here. Food is decent. If what they offer isn’t for you, visit the carts.

This is the warm & dimly lit bar you pop into, pick a booth(or a seat at the bar if you’re feeling more social), enjoy the music and some conversation. Or, check the sports scores. Perhaps venture into the adjoining room to play a game of pool?

First bar I ever experienced in Portland. My friend, Ryan, used to live right on SE50th so the first time I went to Portland, we literally parked our car, put our luggage inside and walked to North. Having been to Portland quite a few times more since, North has sort of turned into our«home bar.» Familiar and comfortable and warm.

An excellent neighborhood bar with enough class to escape a «dive» label but enough down-homeyness to avoid the«pretentious» label. This bar is all-purpose, bringing cuteness to a periodically bleak-looking corner of Division, bringing people together over delightfully strong cocktails, and generally being a relaxing spot for post-work, pre-home boozing.

Another biz in the hood I just stumbled upon. Well, ok, a friend suggested we meet there. My bourbon and gingers were strong and tasty. They have a small menu, the roast beef and bleu sandwich with horseradish was fantastic. The horseradish made my eyes and sinuses water, which was exactly what I wanted! The bartenders were fun and nice, the prices were reasonable. The crowd was mixed, though it tended toward young and hipster-ish as the night got later. But we ARE in Portland. Great rainy day spot you can stumble home from for the win!
