I’ve been here a couple of times. The pool tables were great when waiting for your food. The food is made well. They don’t give you the«run of the mill» burger. These burgers are unique and taste great. I had a shrimp burger during one of my trips here, I loved it.

Came here on my happy hour day drinking travels. This place had great happy hour specials. Beer and liquor. Happy hour is from 3 – 7. Pretty quiet when we were there but it was 4:20 on a Tuesday so I’ll take that into consideration. Overall the bartender was great service was great too.

To be honest, I don’t mind Griff’s, nor do I like Griff’s. It’s a decent bar, has pool tables, and reasonably priced. Not much else to say about it though.

My nickname is Griff so suffice to say I had high hopes. I actually chose my hotel due to its proximity to this bar. The place is relatively empty but it is a Monday. The layout of the bar and entertainment space is really nice, giving the place incredible potential to be a great bar. The reason this place lacks greatness is clientele, mediocre food, and slow service. The girls bartending were really nice but it was understaffed which slowed service tremendously.

I work downtown. I used to prefer Griffs, however since the new management the staff is very lazy and unhelpful. They have also changed the menu, if you talk to the midtown location the new owner has said to still serve items off the old menu if requested(i.e. pub fries) it’s funny this establishment is local and owned by the same person AND they are only miles apart yet the service and standards that the midtown location upholds are so much better in comparison to the old town location. I would never recommend anyone to step foot in the old town location, its worth the extra 15 minutes to drive to midtown to get better service and attitudes. During the day the old town location refuses to accept to go orders, HELLOPEOPLEONLYGET30MINUTESFORLUNCHSTOPBEINGLAZYANDWRITEDOWNANORDER. They refuse to be accomadating because that would require them to work they just show up and expect to get paid and not do a thing. Drive the extra 15 minutes if you can if you can’t go to Barons or even Thumpers at least the staff works there!

Stopped off with a friend to eat, place across the street was full. Music was a bit loud but otherwise good. Had the BC burger and fries. Good burger and enjoyed the seasoning on the fries. Waitress was nice, even though they were in the early stages of. A pub crawl in the area. Good place.

Griff’s is a nice bar with mediocre quality of food. It’s just bar food in it’s most basic form. We were looking for a place with plenty of TVs to kick off the first Saturday of college football and Griff’s proved to be a comfortable establishment. The service was perfect as I never went for wanting. Their were a modest number of beers on tap and the prices were all fair. We ordered the chicken nachos, mozzarella sticks, wings, crab dip, and some other appetizer I can’t remember. The best thing were the wings, which were decent. The blue cheese was chunky which was good. Griff’s would be the perfect place to watch some games if you didn’t have taste buds.

My husband and I were in town for a conference at a local hotel and wanted some lunch. The first place we stopped was a few streets over but the waitress was so rude we didnt even stay to get a table. We found this place and the food looked decent and the waitress was nice. We ordered a cheese pizza. She comes back and informs us they don’t have the ingredients to make pizza. I then was what the soup of the day is. She informs me they haven’t made it yet(even though we were eating lunch at 12:30…quite an acceptable time for lunch). I ordered a quesadilla and my husband ordered a chicken wrap with onion rings. The food came out in pretty good time. The quesadilla was WAY to full of cheese(coming from someone who loves cheese– it was obviously way to much) and the whole thing was really greasy. The salsa that came with it had a brown tint to it. Even my husband who will eat anything looked at it funny. He said his food tasted good. I tried an onion ring and they were quite delicious. We both ran out of drink though and we actually had to take our cups up to the waitress to get a refill. Maybe we are just spoiled by wonderful restaurants in Richmond, but it wasn’t a good experience.

Yuck. Wings were gross. Garlic Parmesan consists of nasty white chunkage on top of your microwaved dry wings.

I’ve been here for different occasions, one for a company Christmas party, a going away party and a birthday celebration. The service at this location is «ok», my first visit was not very good at all, it felt like I had to wait forever to get my first drink and the second drink felt even longer. But the last couple of visits the bartenders seemed to be a lot more attentive than my first visit. Griff’s features your typical bar food, it’s pretty good food and isn’t much different than any other bar. This is a bar that can accommodate large or small groups. They have a lounge area with couches which is a nice touch and there is part of the bar that can be rented out for private parties and during the warmer months there is outdoor seating as well. They also have a couple of pool tables along with TVs throughout the bar. This bar is not bad but it isn’t great either. If you’re in Portsmouth, stop by and get a drink, but don’t expect to be wowed.

Walked in the place was not very busy. just wanted a beer and some dinner. When the only one of the 5 employees totally engrossed in their phones finally looked up. .she said sit anywhere. the several tables we saw were filthy, so we left. There are way too many good places to eat and drink in Portsmouth, we won’t be back. I noticed there are paper signs all over about the right to refuse service and bathroom usage„ my guess inatentive employees might be the root of this issue, that end of High Street is Dicey anyway, somebody should be on the door.

We joked this was where the night dies. It actually wasn’t a bad place. It was kind of dead the first time we went, but in one room there was a dj and some sexy grannies dancing, like recently divorced and getting their groove back 50 year old women. They were having fun. There are pool tables, but they’re always packed. They even have a little couch lounge area on your way to the bathroom in case you finish up before your girrrlllls because the bathroom is kind of small. The patio is cool which is where we spent most of the night the few times friends and I have gone. We just people watch the other bar hoppers. There are always police out front, but they’re friendly and you know them Ptown folks be rowdy ;)

This is a great place to catch the game and get a cold beer and the food is amazing. They have a wide selection of beers and my favorite Woodchucks. This place is a hidden gem in downtown Portsmouth. I will continue to attend this sports bar on a regular basis.
