After a day trip to the Arlington area of Poughkeepsie with my parents, we decided to stop for a late dinner at Beech Tree Grill. We were all pleasantly surprised. My father and I had the grilled salmon w/vegetable couscous and herbed tomato confit. The salmon was seasoned and cooked perfectly, with a small helping of couscous, yellow beets and sweet potatoes. The dinner salad was a simple, «no frills» salad, but pretty good. My mother had the black angus burger and she seemed to like it. The potato wedges that came with her meal were fantastic! Well seasoned and crunchy. Our waiter was friendly and the service was prompt. Overall, I think my family and I were satisfied with our experience.

Really solid menu and atmosphere with a great selection of draft beers as well. The specials are creative, rotating, and delicious. Shrimp pasta and hanger steak are my personal favorites.

For a great local bar/restaurant definitely check out Beech Tree. Menu has a great selection along with the daily specials which are always exciting and prepared by some very talented chefs. I frequent here often and have always had a great experience. Staff is always friendly and helpful and service always attentive and quick. The bar has a great selection of beers which is always my first go to and Beech Tree has a great selection of craft beer which is always a great thing. Even though it is close to the college there is not much of a «college» presence and more of a local crowd which is refreshing and much more relaxed and laid back. The brunch on Sunday is amazing. Everything from the french toast to the omelettes and everything in between are incredible. Check out Beech Tree you will not be disappointed!

Just had the worst dinner ever, Caesar salad had Russian dressing, carpaccio had no olive oil on it, and the cod was just ok. Was not worth the $ 100 dollars we paid for dinner. I almost forgot they ran out of Guinness on Friday, two days ago. There is so many good restaurants in POUGHKEEPSIE, go to them

A great neighborhood pub. Fantastic selection of draft beers with a combination of patron favorites on the regular menu(burger, hanger steak, fried calamari) and innovative specials(jambalaya, chicken hash with fried egg etc) Warm, pub atmosphere that feels like you are home in the den.

A chill local bar with better than average«bar/pub food». The drinks are ridiculously cheap and the menu has a lot to offer. Despite the college neighborhood it is in, Beech Tree has an older crowd. Most recently, I had the spinach salad with salmon. The salmon was a big piece grilled medium and was seasoned well. The salad was OK — I just expected more of it. It was only a fistful of spinach — if it’s called a spinach salad, you think there would be more than just a fistful. The accompaniments are great though — goat cheese, walnuts, apples, carrots in a vinaigrette dressing. The atmosphere is relaxed and lively with friendly service. It’s small so when there’s a wait, it can get annoying with people standing over hovering near you if you sit at a table by the entrance. Also, I don’t think the heat is working because it was freezing. I ate with my winter coat the whole meal.

Food was good, but the front door to the outside opens directly into the dining room, making all of the tables near the door freezing. If you can sit in the back you’ll be ok and enjoy the food.

My #1 favorite local spot. Small menu with some great selections prepared by some talented chefs. Baby spinach salad with chicken grilled perfectly every time and hangar steak are my two favorite things. The Half-pound burger on english muffin and orange BBQ chicken sandwich are also solid. The best part is they have different appetizer and dinner specials everyday! Great beer selection and you can’t beat a cold 20 oz craft beer for $ 6! Quaint space and all of the waitresses and bartenders are friendly and attentive. No question you have to try it. And the Sunday brunch is excellent, just don’t go before 11:30…

Quite often when we head out for the day with a couple that we enjoy hanging out with very much. I quite often have the task of finding a restaurant to eat at. That morning as we hit the road I envisioned a cozy place, small yet Roomy. A place with exposed brick walls and a worn out wood floor. Snap. Not sure how but we stumbled on the exact joint. Beech Tree Grill. Great food. Great service with a great atmosphere.

Great food. The chicken confit appetizer special was especially good(and large). Service was so-so, but pleasant. Definitely would come back.

So, it’s been several months since my last review and the food is still excellent, but we definitely don’t go as often. We can’t go for brunch because the same lady we had a bad experience with is still there every time we have tried, so we just leave. We no longer sit at the bar, as the older guy who is ALWAYS behind the bar is annoying now. The waitresses are sweet and knowledgeable. Wish the owner would mix up the bar staff. The older guy and the older brunette who works weekends has kept us away at times. Used to be our favourite once a week spot, now more like once every two months

Excellent food. Specials rock! This is a nice little bar restaurant near Vassar College. Seating is limited and the dining room and pub are one room. The food is far better than the usual pub fare. The specials are interesting and seasonal. Food is ready promptly. Good selection of interesting beers.

Menu is in need of updating because it is getting boring and so does the restaurant. Particularly the bathrooms. Pricing is a tad high for the quality and food can be either great or just average. Specials are where they excel. A mixed bag of variety and would consider it American food.

Stopped in for lunch on my break from a training class in the area… I was the first one here at around 11:50 and the sole waitress/bartender was very friendly. Made small talk but knew when to stop haha… By the time i left she was covering 5 tables plus me at the bar. Nice draft beer selection! For food, i ordered a pulled pork sandwhich since I really wanted BBQ but the nearby BBQ place reviews were eh. The pulled pork was a little soupy and sweet for my liking, no where near the flavor level of a real BBQ place, but not terrible either. The bread was a good pairing, although I admit to eating it with a fork and knife(I know I know) The slaw was pretty much just red cabbage and vinegar but I’m fine with that… Okay for what it was. Fries were nicely cooked wedges and very good… everything was a nice sided portion. If I’m in the area again I’ll try something else here for sure.

Our favorite casual go to place. I almost always order fish because the chef does it better than any other restaurant in our area. I am so surprised at the reviews saying it is pricey for $ 15-$ 25 for an entre that comes with a great salad. Pricey? Beer selection great, good desserts and great service.

I love the décor inside. It’s casual, but feels cozy. There’s a TV up in the corner of the bar area, but this place is far from a sports bar. It seems to attract a slightly older crowd. The Vassar kids tend to head next door to Babycakes. I give it 5 stars because their food is delicious. I’ve never had a bad meal. Their service is always friendly and professional. And their prices are very, very reasonable. Good beer list, and always a ton of food specials. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!

The entrees here are a bit pricey for what they are. Granted, you get a decent portion size compared to other places charging 18 – 20 dollars for an entrée, but I still would rather pay that much for something mind blowing, vs something similar to Applebee’s in quality. Maybe I was just there on an off day. The sangria also had practically no alcohol, which was a total rip for 7 dollars. Don’t know if I’ll ever go back. I expected more than mediocre and over priced. It seemed like a lot of stuffy old people, so maybe I’m just not their target demographic.

I like the Beech a lot. I might even give it 5 stars because the food is great, the beers on tap are great, and it is jolly little joint. BUT. And I say this because I’ve been there too many times and had the same experience… we live in Poughkeepsie. A place where it is notably chilly 6 months out of the year. Either the people who run the Beech think we are all polar bears, or their miserly behavior w/r/t heating is designed to deliver an unpleasant experience. We were just there again and seated by the window/door — there is a radiator right underneath the window which doesn’t work, and the management’s response to that was to put a tiny ceramic oscillating bathroom heater on the window sill. Seriously? So yeah, go the Beech. But bring your parka and earmuffs!
