Terrible customer service. Food is not bad. Take away is by far the worst experience. They shake their heads even if they don’t understand. A waitress even without listening to me said ask my manager. Another one was telling me about CAKE when I was inquiring about TAKE out! The guy who did our bill was very rude. Will never return again! Customer service isn’t worth a quarter penny!

Food was so so. They have peking duck but skin was rubbery. Strong chlorox smell in the back where the sushi station is. I guess they are doing some serious disinfecting.

Went there the day after Christmas. The shrimp in all of the dishes were not fresh. They used oil from the fryer to cook the hibachi food. To keep the Peking Duck warm, they put in on top of the fryer. The place is a joke. Been to buffets that were much better. Will never come to this place again!!!

Food was tasty, a good selection and plentiful. I mainly focused on the basics like ribs, dumplings and lo mein which were all pretty good. A lot of typical Asian buffet stuff and some items that were more exotic/unfamiliar for cred with the Asian diners. The management should pay a lot more attention to presentation, since the hot entrees are kind of jumbled together but the cold items get too much space They had jello and pudding in every hue imaginable and a ton of cut fruit taking up one big table but it seemed like hardly anyone was interested in the cold items. But on the hot tables, they ran out of little spaces to put everything so there were metal trays of food perched awkwardly on top of other food items. The restaurant itself also REALLY needs some SERIOUS cleaning and painting ASAP. Just as I was finishing my meal and feeling pretty satisfied, I saw a cockroach crawling across the floor which was a little bit disconcerting. I thought about trying to get a photo or video of the little beast, or just stomping on him, but decided not to make a ruckus because there were families eating nearby. I made up my mind I would try and forget about the roachie and not let it spoil my meal.

First of all this buffet restaurant does not even deserve one star but the this app is not letting me give this place NEGATIVE5 star. This place had good food about 9 years ago and it slowly started to go down hill. For some unexplainable reason we gave this place another shot. But after the very first plate of food we were reminded why we have not come here in a long time. The food was QUESTIONABLE. You have to be smart and just try the hot food(the ones that were actually hot). After eating @ Super Star East Buffet, It made me think and wonder when was the last time a Restaurant Health Inspector Visited this place. After wondering around the food area there is a sewer smell that hits you and made you loose your appetite. Walking near the sushi area and ice cream area the sewer smell got very strong. This sewer smell has to come somewhere … I don’t agreed to one reviewer who said this place is one health violation away. I think they are looking @ health violation in the rearview mirror. JUSTTHINK about it … if the smell is this bad near the food area, what is the smell in the kitchen. PLEASE do not come to this place unless you are the health inspector.

There are many foods available, but it did feel a bit like Russian roulette in making choices — some things(sesame balls, sushi) were very good, but I also kind of tracked when things were being put out on the buffet and got them immediately when possible. Some things(honey chicken, scallion pancakes, soup dumplings) tasted like they had been out for too long. Sushi was not labeled with type, so sometimes I could guess, and sometimes I couldn’t. The desserts and soups in slow cookers were also intermixed with each other, so it’s quite possible that someone thought they were getting a sweet dessert and ended up with a savory thing instead, which I guess is fine at an AYCE, since you can just not eat it, but it could get wasteful. So, better, more consistent labeling/organization and better monitoring of when things should be replaced on the line could greatly improve my experience here. At the same time, for $ 11 /person, I can only be so picky.

Terrible selection of food. Most of what they have tastes like nothing and is way too greasy. Dumplings were hard and were probably sitting out all day, soups were watery and had no taste. Even the Ice Cream had no taste! The icing on the cupcake was when the waitress told me and my group that there was a 15% MINIMUM for tips by law. Last time I checked there were no laws for tips. We laughed at her attempt to get money out of us and left. If the staff didn’t lie to their customers maybe I would come back, but I doubt it.

Typical Seadfood/Chinese buffet affair here. Selection wasn’t as expansive as I’ve had in other similar joints. Although their idea of having a Soft Serve machine as part of the dessert section, is brilliant! All in all, worth a try if you’re around that area.

Quality has gone down from where this restaurant used to be. Been coming here as regulars for many years and the food seemed to go downhill with every visit. Perhaps the original chefs are gone? The ingredients aren’t fresh. Seafood is too fishy, beef too tough, chicken too salty. This place has definitely seen better days

Saturday night has to be the busiest day of the week and food must be fresh. Unfortunatly, the food was, idk like 1 week old. They have seafood but still its old, and funniest part is, it is crawfish not baby lobster. But good part is, location was ok.

Came here with my family while we where visiting NJ and this place is quite decent. If your looking for that typical average american/Chinese food this place is just right for you. The place is spacious and there is quite alot of food. Quality of the food was pretty typical for a buffet. Overall it was all ok.

The fact that people say this is one of the better Chinese buffets in the area is utterly frightening to me, because I can’t imagine lower quality food than what you’ll find at Super Star East. Really, I don’t expect much from a buffet… my standards aren’t high. But there is nothing on the buffet here that is half as good as you’ll get in the worst sit down restaurant. Even dishes that are impossible to ruin… egg rolls, pot stickers, etc., were almost inedible. The Mongolian bbq section has the worst looking meats I have ever seen, and the Peking duck station looked like a heath violation waiting to happen. The xiao long bao, which I was looking forward to, were completely congealed, and entirely soup-less. Don’t do this to yourself… go somewhere else.

Decent selection for a cheap price. They have a lot of seats and they have so many different options. I would recommend it, because you get the best BANG for your buck.

Compared to other Chinese buffets in the area, the Super Star is probably among the better ones. The food and décor are just slightly better than the others, but not enough to rise too far above(we’re talking Chinese buffets here). Though I will add few extra points for the Mongolian grill, which is available both lunch and dinner. My real chief complaint is the smell of the bathrooms. Like most Chinese buffets, the bathrooms here also smell like a combination of body order, body fluids and institutional«pink» hand soap, watered down of course.

The buffet is quite large, and my Chinese school goes twice a year to celebrate. While most of the food isn’t that great – typical American Chinese food – there are some more authentic dishes that I make sure to get every time. These include the sticky rice(油飯), soup dumplings(小籠包), duck in buns(刮包), and tofu dessert(豆花). Their red bean dessert soup(紅豆湯) and tapioca coconut dessert soup(西米露) aren’t bad, either. The buffet isn’t the best place to get these things, but it’s some of the best food they have, and it’s not as common around the area. My dad likes the crab legs and crayfish. They also have a wider selection of vegetables, some of which are less heavy on the sauces, which is nice. There was a period of time when we’d get takeout from the buffet. The owner is very friendly and likes to make conversation at the register. The wait staff are quick to clear away plates. This place isn’t the best, but we go rarely and there are a few good dishes that are hard to come by, so I still get excited about eating there.

My family has visited quite a few Chinese buffets together, and most have been pretty gross. But I was very impressed by Super Star. It is not the best Chinese food I have ever had, but they have a huge variety of dishes that are not too greasy and taste way better than the food I’ve had at other buffets. For dinner, they had peking duck, xiao long bao(soup dumplings), dim sum, peking duck, and sushi. All of these tasted good, especially good considering it is a buffet. They have a lot of seafood: crawfish, shrimp(shell on), mussels, and clams. The desserts look better than they taste. I will be bringing my family here when they are in town!

Super Star East always brings to mind gatherings of many many asian family friends, when no one wants to potluck. Its cheap enough that everyone doesn’t feel a huge burden from eating, and kids get to eat their favorite trashy dishes That being said, this is the very definition of a «respectable trashy buffet» which seems counterintuitive, but its really not. For what it is, which is an attempt to get you full of cheap and fried dishes, its not bad. certainly there are worse woks and buffets. However, does anything make me say«hey I want to go to SSEB»? Nah. Its really oily and gross.

The best Chinese Buffet I have been to in NJ. Whenever I go to my parents house in Princeton I try to convince them to go here for lunch first. There is a wide variety of food dishes to choose from. Some are great, some are ok, you just have to choose what appeals to you. For me it’s the Juice Dumplings. It’s the only buffet I know of that has them. It’s also good if you have kids. You can eat some of the more«Adult» dishes and they can have chicken and broccoli, scallion pancakes, etc. If your kid doesn’t like Chinese food they also have mac and cheese, fries, chicken nuggets, etc. Rated in the world of buffets I give this place 5 stars.

There is something in this for everyone .I see no reason why anyone would not like this place. You don’t have to like everything .just pick up stuff that looks appetizing. there is plenty to choose from. and just for 10 bucks !! My first visit to an all you can eat buffet and more than satisfied . The only small problem is the waiters trying to hurry you up a little . Do try the place

Very decent lunch buffet pricing, under ten dollars plus tax. Decent and large range of food options from American fried chicken wings and fries to rolls in the back to your run of the mill Chinese dishes. Had a few cold dishes but not many and I’ve been there alot. This is my go to chinese buffet when eating lunch with friends who want Chinese. I leave content whenever I go. ALSO we went recently for dinner and included in the price they brought around a sushi and rolls menu where you could choose as many as you wanted and the sushi chef would make them to order! Good stuff.
