Love this place. Food is okay but the down-home feel makes this place a must visit before it’s gone!

This place is great for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! All items for breakfast are great. For lunch the club or Cotton Gin Cobb salad is great! For dinner my family recommends the catfish, fried okra, chili, or buffalo chicken sandwich. The best part about this place is they treat you like family!

Love a hole in the wall restaurant? This place will make you feel at home. Totally old school but packed and tasty food. We rolled out of bed yesterday and are here. Would like a little more parking, but hey, it’s Saturday and I don’t want to walk. Lol

Love this place! Breakfast is always delicious! Always busy in the mornings and the weekend is packed but that’s expected with such a great place. Haven’t tried lunch or dinner, yet but I expect the same freshness and great taste as their breakfast!

I’m from West Texas and I love the feel of a small time diner. Life is much slower than Dallas at this café AND I LOVEIT~

Cotton Gun is a good place for a meal. I have been eating at Cotton Gin for the last 6 years. Cotton Gun has never let me down. Lunch time is always busy, so plan for a wait on a table. Service is usually pretty quick and friendly. My favorite meals are the double cheese burger and the chicken fried steak and make sure they give you lots of gravy for dipping the Texas Toast in.

If you’re looking for a quaint country café this fits the bill. Some basic dishes are better than others. We like the burgers and the biscuits and gravy. Grab a table, then order your food. One thing’s for sure, you won’t leave hungry!

This place is for people who don’t know how to cook and don’t know what good food tastes like. Rubbery scrambled eggs, cold hash browns and cold toast. Meh

Edited: My family and I used to go here all the time with other church families when I was younger. The food isn’t the best tasting but it certainly doesn’t leave you hungry. Texas sized portions and friendly staff.

Nice place, friendly staff. I had the mushroom Swiss burger with fried okra, they were very good. Fried okra was crispy but not burned.

Small-town restaurant, that you order food at the counter. Food was OK and didn’t get that friendly vibe from the waitresses. If you blink you’ll miss the shop.

I can’t let this go on. I’ve gone 5 – 6 times to try and find something that tasted fresh. I never found it. Sadly I can’t say this place deserves this many stars. Everything I ever ate tasted like it came from the freezer. With the biscuit and gravy being the one exception. They also lack the charming small town diner feel as never ever was I greeted with a smile or welcomed in any way when dining there. Disappointment.

This is the only restaurant we found in old downtown Prosper. It appears to be a combination of two old buildings with some new construction taking place on the back side of one of the sections. It was packed when we arrived. The air conditioning was working great as it was cool inside and in the high nineties outside. You order from the counter and we noted a special of the day was listed a brisket bar b q on a bun with a side for $ 5.99. We chose the brisket bar b q sandwich and the home made potato chips. We were given drink cup(extra charge) and got our own tea. The food was delivered to the table a few minutes alter. The potato chips were good, however the ranch dressing that came with them was so watered down it would not stay on the chips. The bar b q sandwich which we thought would be slices of brisket turned out to be almost ground beef with a ton of sauce on it. The sauce on the meat was huge. We liked the potato chips. There were also a couple of rings of onions and three pieces of pickles slices in the bottom of the tray. There was more than ample meat on the bun and due to the amount of sauce the sauce leaked through the bun making everything soggy. I must have used a dozen paper napkins. This is truly a «hole in the wall» restaurant and after eating we not at all sorry that we came. The crowd appeared to be just about all-local folks who seemed to enjoy their food. In all fairness we cannot give this place more than three stars and that is due to the food. The old building has a lot of charm and had the food been better we would have raised the rating at least one star.

We first came here 2.5 years ago when we were looking at areas to build our new home. We stop by thinking«home cooking» but they use a lot of frozen foods and little taste in their dishes. We tried it 3 – 4 times and the food is just not good. We never tried breakfast and maybe that’s better but I’d rather eat at home. This restaurant really needs a complete make over in the front of the house as well as menu.

Excellent food! Finally, a restaurant where they actually know how to cook eggs! Best breakfast in the Frisco area!!!

Small town Texas gem not too far away. $ 1 coffee and the usual basics of burgers and homemade classics in an open, casual and friendly environment. This kinda place is found all over Texas(outside of the cities) and nice to have close by.

Cotton Gin Café is a small town diner that makes really good food. I was surprised at their extremely large portions and affordable prices. This place is also really packed at lunch but it was such a nice day out we decided to sit on the patio. There’s more room in the back. For breakfast I had the eggs, bacon, and biscuit. Great meal to start the day off. It was 10 minutes after the cutoff for breakfast service but they still made breakfast for us. What a guy. For lunch I had their pork tenderloin sandwich with a side of potato salad and a banana pudding for dessert. Coffee, tea, and sodas are self-serve. There is no waiter service. Order at the counter and your food will magically make its way to you.

This is the third time I’ve been here for breakfast. First time, the girl at the counter seemed very put out we had the audacity to order any food and completely irritated when I asked for no green peppers in my omelette. Second time, there was a large black hair hiding under my pancake. When told about it, girl at counter rolled her eyes. No «I’m sorry». The owner(I think?) gave me a cinnamon bun after I returned my plate but only after about 2 min of «gee, sorry about that». Third time, this morning. You have to wait in line to order, then get your table – which is exactly what we did. My husband was signing the credit card receipt, I got the cups for our drinks and sat down. Immediately, I was confronted by some lady who very rudely and loudly(without a ‘good morning’ or ‘excuse me’) said«you can’t sit till you order) – EVENTHOUGH I HADTHEDRINKCUPSYOUGETAFTERORDERINGANDPAYING. I said I knew the rules and I have the cups. She just said sorry and walked away. I’ll tell you, the food is ok but not good enough to warrant rude behavior and hair in my food.

We love this place! We’ve only come for breakfast but the pancakes, cinnamon roles, and sausage and biscuits/gravy are delicious. We love the old-timey feel with the pictures covering the walls showing Prosper when it was first established. The people that work here have also always been very friendly and laid back. Come here if you’d like a good olé Texas country breakfast!
