True, I came here once for a lunch on the go. But dangggg didn’t it impress me! The coffee is amazing(and I drink it black) and the vegan veggin out bagel lunch sandwich I got was so good. Everything was amazingly fresh, the bagel freshly roasted warming up the veggies and hummus ever-so slightly. I will definitely be back for a smoothie and to try the other vegan options. If I had time to sit down I would have gotten the vegan lentil soup on the menu. The insides are clean and hipster, but the staff behind the counter were welcoming and there were a few elderly gentlemen present, indicating to me that this café has the good eats to appeal to a wide audience. There was a coach and some two top and four top tables. I wouldn’t come here with a big group, though. The café is intimate and cozy, not lending itself to a big party. This will definitely become a regular stop for me to treat myself to a yummy lunch I didn’t have to prepare at the end of a long work week.

Malachi’s was super cool. They have plenty of breakfast and lunch sandwiches to choose from. As well as coffees, smoothies, shakes, and other beverages. My favorite part is that they have VEGAN options. While I’m not vegan, I can’t have dairy. They have a few different vegan sandwiches. I had the Vegan Grilled Cheese on a plain bagel, which comes with tomato and I added avocado. I was surprised as to how melted they got the cheese because dairy free cheese doesn’t melt all that well. My roommates sandwiches looked amazing. They also got a hot coffee, which they prepare for you, and a iced cinnamon bun coffee, which smelled amazing and was served in a tall mason jar. The staff was friendly and the food came out fast. I’m not sure how this was only our first time but we’ll be back.

Undiscovered Jem in the East Providence area. Wonderful breakfast sandwiches! 4.5 out of 5! Smoothies — especially matcha are amazing 4.5÷5 and very addicting. I crave this drink randomly through my day! coffee varies 3.5÷5. Family owned — the staff is very kind, laid back and provides that community feel interaction that one is always looking for in a local eatery. I’ve observed their kindness to local elderly visitors and appreciate the quality/compassion in their interaction with community members. As a human services worker, I noted this as a place I wanted my money to be spent. Parking is right out front. Easy to pull up right in front. It is only a few blocks off 195 so very easy to stop by en route somewhere for an on-the-go sandwich as well. My favorite is the Whoa Nellie which I often get with egg added. Also love Lota Cheese — I add bacon and red onion! Any adjustments you want, they will do it! Ingred are very FRESH. No coffee mixing station(which I prefer) but if you’re not afraid to ask, they will adjust the coffee in any way you like and readjust if needed! Nice classic coke bottles which I think is a nice touch and a bookshelf with some puzzles/board games in the corner. Homemade soups as well. Not tons of seating but I have never had a problem finding a seat while there. It looks like they have an outdoor seating area which I am excited about and hope it will open in the spring as that attracts me to any coffee location and such seating is lacking in that part of the east side. Rumor has it they are starting to open late and have live music in the not-too-distant future so keep an eye out. This place is super laid back, casual, a place where«everybody knows your name.» the«CHEERS» of breakfast eateries if you will ;) Support local family’s and business and check this place out! You’ll be glad to have this little place in you back pocket! Be sure to mark where you are from on the world map in the back of the café!

I always end up in a conundrum on Sunday mornings because I wake up too late to really have brunch, but I still want to enjoy a coffee and a breakfast sandwich somewhere. I think Malachi’s has solved that problem for me! Malachi’s doesn’t get too busy, even on weekends, which is a shame because they brew up a mean cup of coffee. The cold brew(~$ 4 for a small) is not as sweet and mild as at The Shop, but is served in the same way(mason jar with giant ice cubes). As I gathered from other reviews as well as the friendly service here, this place is family owned. Considering it’s not a large space, there’s plenty of seating, mostly tables and chairs with one couch. Definitely a plus since at so many places you have to basically battle someone to get a seat! I’ll definitely be back on another lazy Sunday to try a breakfast sandwich!

coffee was good, cookies ok. Maybe I need to try the bagels next time. Lots of tables with hard chairs, I was a little surprised to not find a couple comfy chairs or sofas.

This place is just as good as previous reviews claimed. The tree huger(yes it’s spelled properly) is just as huge as it claims. Overall great experience with a friendly owner and his father making great breakfast sandwiches and coffee.

My first trip to Providence and I wanted a good breakfast/café spot to start it off. Well, I found this gem and think I still have dreams about the Tree Huger breakfast sandwich and the snickerdoodle iced latte. Malachi’s is such a great place to bring a book and enjoy your morning coffee in peace and quiet. The breakfast sandwich was so filling that you want to go back to sleep afterwards, cause there is no reason to go to work afterwards. :)

This place is great! Family owned and employed, and they have a wonderful attitude every day. They serve flavored and un-flavored coffees, coffee beans by weight, great homemade treats, and f**kin awesome breakfast sandwiches! Excellent and unique selection, plus they’re always willing to make any combination you can think of. Very reasonable prices, seasonal outdoor seating, and a nice, relaxing atmosphere inside. The music is great, and its not too loud. You can always find a parking spot on Ives St, and they’re also on the #92RIPTA bus line. This place is a little Fox Point gem! Search it out… you will not be disappointed. I wasn’t.

They have an amazing vegan bagel with hummus! I would always stop by after horseback riding. The service is amazing too! In love and I seriously recommended it!

Fantastic breakfast bagels and the sweetest staff. The gentleman who owns this place is always courteous and professional, and swift with service. Huge fan of that special spicy chili pepper sauce that he puts on the bagels(we usually get sausage, egg, and cheese). Definitely a far cry better than regular tobasco! Music’s not too loud, parking is available on the street and on the side. It’s got a good vibe, not too many college students hanging thereabouts either which is nice if you want to get away from the crowded and young Thayer St scene. In terms of coffee — I’ve had the mocha here and it was pretty standard but solidly good. Definitely worth visiting! It’s been my go-to quick breakfast bagel spot in Providence for the past two years.

Delicious breakfast sandwiches, and their iced coffee flavors are brewed, not syrups! Staff remembered me by name and order after just a few visits.

Great coffee! I enjoyed a peanut butter banana latte with the classic breakfast sandwich. Great for a sandwich and coffee/tea/smoothie.

Had one of the Food Fights Iced coffee coupons so I checked it out. Cute place, no frills, huge list of sandwiches. I got the Tree Huger(egg, avacado, tomato, apple maple chicken sausage, and spinach), it was a great hearty breakfast sandwich on a bagel. They have numerous brewed flavored iced coffee, I tried the Jamaican me Cray Cray which tasted great. The service was fine, seems as though they have a lot of regulars that they talk to so there wasn’t any really communication with me but they seemed friendly.

I’ve lived around the corner from Malachi’s for 4 years, and only just discovered it a couple of months ago. The coffee is excellent, whether it’s flavored with one of the many delicious flavorings they have, or simply black. The Avocado sandwich is literally the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. Bacon and egg on an english muffin with fresh avocado, tomato, and spinach — delicious. I’m sure the other sandwiches on their menu are great as well, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to order any of the others just yet.

Small coffee shop. Must have driven by this place a dozen times. They need to work on that curb appeal. But anyway, don’t let that deter you. They are so nice and friendly. Great selection of coffee and sandwiches, smoothies. I tried their flavored hot coffee of the day– Pistachio!!! It was really good. The owner(he’s Portuguese) even made me smell(or sniff?) the green pistachio powder. I’m a big pistachio fan and I’m in heaven! I will be back!!!

This a local coffee shop with no pretense of grandeur. They have great coffee and service — and therefore, regular customers. It is a pleasure to watch people come and go and chat with the owners. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They explained everything patiently and helped me choose my breakfast. I had bagel sandwich with ham and eggs and I loved it. Everything was fresh and tasty. I am planning to go back at the first opportunity.

Great service and coffee! I have only been once, but plan to return very soon. I noticed they have a few good looking vegan options on the menu. I can’t wait to try them out. As of now, the 5 stars are for the really nice people working here, laid back atmosphere and good coffee.

Food is fresh and so so good. Want a smoothie made with fresh fruit? This is my go to place. Always a nice, quiet study location made extra fabulous by the company of Joe and Joe. Oh, and the beverages are delicious. Malachi’s is the best kept secret on the east side.

One of the absolute best spiced Chai(with almond milk) teas I have ever had. Yum. Friendly service. Fair prices. Casual, comfortable atmosphere. You can sit outside if you wish. I’ll be back.
