I love this place! Very relaxing, bring a few friends and get a hookah and some delicious baklava and tea and enjoy the atmosphere. In the summer, the patio out back is gorgeous!

I went to this place expecting it to be busy and eventful since it is a hookah lounge, but the place was quiet and personal. It is a great place if you want to just read a book or do your homework and have a cup of tea. The tea is really good and it comes in small, medium and large options. Love the Moroccan tea!

Several of us were meeting there yesterday. It was my idea to go to a small business rather than a big chain for a meeting. We arrived at 11:15am and the place was locked and there was a note on the door saying that they were closing early — presumably from the night before. No note for yesterday morning. Just closed and locked during advertised business hours. Someone in our party called by no answer. I looked like an idiot for suggesting a place that didn’t care enough about customers who drove in the rain from different areas of the state to be there. Go anywhere else but here.

So cozy, warm, and inviting. Feels like my second living room and is definitely my hideaway on cold winter evenings or slow weekend afternoons. Incredibly versatile and accommodating– great for studying, reading, catching up with a close friend, or meeting with large groups. Hours can be a bit irregular at times and service perhaps a bit slower, but that’s part of the experience. Never feel rushed here, even when I stick around until/sometimes after closing. Plenty of seating — both couches, tables, etc– free wifi, delicious tea/coffee/pastries. My go-to’s with the tea are the Marrakech(I always wish for more) or the Louisa when I’m feeling something without caffeine. I usually ask for it with less sugar, but it’s delicious all the same. They also sell churros(lol), pizza, samosas, and sandwiches. Smoke some hookah if you’re feeling it… even though I don’t smoke, there are usually only one or two parties with Hookah so it’s never been overwhelming to be in the space. Come if you’re feeling a bit tense(and even if you’re not), and Tea in Sahara will definitely help you settle down and relax.

The Moroccan Mint Tea is light and sweet. Bagel with Jelly and Butter was perfect for a cold day. The décor was comfy and the sounds were relaxing. The air had the hint of a hookah. Staff was great. In the front window just watching the neighborhood go by… What a nice way to end a day. This place is a gem!

5 stars for the authentic cultural experience and creative atmosphere. Quaint, warm, mellow vibe. Gorgeous arts/crafts and Moroccan mosaic tiles. I’ve always wanted to visit Morocco, but have not had the opportunity. This place makes me feel like I’ve magically transported to Northern Africa. The zaalouk eggplant appetizer was delicious, especially with fresh pita bread(instead of the fried pita chips). I highly recommend the flavorful vegetable soups if you are health conscious. Owner is warm and kind(so is his lovely, sweet daughter). This is my first visit. Can’t wait to go again!

Every Tuesday I come here for a chat with a very close friend. We call it Tea Tuesdays. I get the Moroccan Mint which is absolutely divine and an occasional Baklava. Really nice and very quaint.

This cool, eclectic tea spot was just what I needed to get some light reading/writing done! Tea in Sahara is located just off Wickenden and nestled within the quiet residential neighborhood of Governor Street. I visited around noon time when the traffic of people were light and the cozy conversations filled the room. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing. I ordered a pot of jasmine tea at the counter and took a seat by the door. The server was very polite and carefully poured out my cup of tea, leaving the remainder of the teapot on the table. The teapot yielded two cups. Although I enjoy a fancy cup of tea, my tastebuds are typically accustomed to the common grocery store black/green tea bags. So I was slightly worried that their tea would be too strong for my liking. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that the tea was deliciously sweetened and brewed to the perfect strength. Not too diluted or concentrated. This hidden gem is a great place to slow down, unwind and relax. It’s comforting atmosphere made me wish I didn’t have to leave.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Tea in Sahara serves the ambrosia that is Moroccan mint tea. They could not possibly dilute the heavenly mixture with more hot water. I was wrong. See, Tea in Sahara is amazing because it’s like a casual summer fling– a little flaky or busy, depending on the day(don’t even think about getting here before 11:30) but always, always chill and with no expectations(except that you clean up after yourself… the owner is an all right guy but he’s not your mother). The tea takes a little time to brew but like all good things, it’s worth the wait. Tea and Sahara is a lesson to those who expect instant gratification– it seems to say, «Slow down. Sit for a minute. Breathe. Don’t get too crazy.» As for the Oliver Twist portion sizes, turns out I’d just been eating the wrong thing. Eating only eggplant and red peppers isn’t sensible for people who forgot to eat breakfast or lunch… I feel like that’s obvious. Rather, if you’re hungry, Tea and Sahara sells a brie sandwich for $ 4.25 that will knock your socks off– brie, aioli, apricot preserves, and greens on the best rosemary focaccia you’ve ever had. This beats out most places in the area for something gourmet with a hint of gluttony. The goat cheese and fig sandwich is a close runner-up. If I just want a little something, I usually get grape leaves($ 4.50). Baklava. I would give my life for layers of phyllo dripping with honey and stuffed with walnuts. Here, you can just throw down a few bucks instead. Try it with an espresso pulled from Tea and Sahara’s beautiful La Marzocco. Once again, I don’t smoke hookah but I do know it smells absolutely divine in here when the sugar is caramelizing. They have a ton of different flavours to choose from and the smoke never gets too intense because there’s a lounge and a patio in the back. If you’re sick, come here before bed(n.b.: if you’re really sick, stay away; no one in the food and beverage industry wants your norovirus). Mohamed will make you an off-menu pot of ginger and mint and honey that will fix your digestion, clear up a stuffy nose, and have you sleeping like a baby. Support local businesses and places other than your house that let you take your shoes off and sit on pillows on the floor. This may not be your living room, but I swear it’s the next best thing.

Don’t miss this little gem. The interior is breezy and cool in a summer day. The humble but clean wood floors, mosaic tables, colored glass lanterns and leather floor cushions give an inviting old-world feel. Food is simple and fresh: grape-leave rolls like mom makes them, goat cheese and figs on toasty bread, gorgeous oil-cured olives. The sweet, hot Sahara tea is served with panache, frothed out of an individual metal pot into a traditional tea glass. Free WiFi and a friendly guy at the counter with a quirky sense of humor completes the picture of a perfect, unusual café experience. I’m in love.

Awesome tea/smoothies/food and atmosphere. The owner and everyone who works is always so kind and attentive. They make an effort to get to know you and remember your preferences. They can usually predict what I’m about to order(peach-mango smoothie all the time, every time.) :)

This place is grand. The tea is excellent, genuine Moroccan and i am in love. I meet with friends in the back area and the space is great for groups and the seating is comfortable. There is plenty of space in the front as well as nice pieces to purchase in terms of art, jewelry etc. The ambiance is perfect for meeting up with a friend to catch up, do some writing or have a low key meal on your own. The Baklava makes my mouth party. The evening crowd can get a bit noisy but otherwise its a serene place of awesome.

Ok, get here as soon as you can! Drive past all the bright and shiny, lit up spots on the main roads and make a turn toward Tea In Sahara! Seriously! Nestled in a tree-lined, quaint, Providence neighborhood, you will be transported to Morocco! The teas are delish, but not to be outdone, the food is also A+! My recommendation is the Marrakech tea and a hummus plate or grape leaves. You will leave immediately pining for your next trip!

Hookahs, couches to sink into, jasmine tea, lemon tea, baklava, Middle Eastern music… Walk into Tea in Sahara, and you feel like you’ve been whisked away to the actual Saharan region. Quietly tucked away on Governor Street, away from the hustle and bustle of Brown and RISD, you’ll find many a student working here while puffing away on some hookah and sipping a little glass cup of tea. It’s no Starbucks: the pace is slower, the music is less mainstream, the ambience is significantly calmer, and space is not as packed. But if you’re looking for a peaceful work station(with wifi!) or a place to read for the afternoon, this is a safe bet. They may not have as many tea options as Tealuxe on Thayer, but they compensate by giving you plenty of personal space.

An odd little place well worth visiting! It’s off the beaten path, and the interior setting with ethnic crafts reflects this. Come here for a casual hang out or to study, and enjoy the diverse but manageable selection of teas. Also, try out the baklava, which is pretty good.

If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing environment, this is the place to go! This is a great place to relax, work and have a quiet evening out with friends. This establishment is located in a residential area. Inside, the outer area is akin to a coffee place, but the place to hang out would be their lounge area, further back. Their menu is quite small, mostly made up of appetizers and beverages. The gentleman at the counter, who was an absolute dear, took my party’s order and served it. I had a perfectly brewed, large Moroccan mint tea and crispy and sweet baklava. The rest of my party had paninis and hummus, which they found savory and delicious. The place closes down at 11pm, but the owner was sweet enough to let us stay past that. I look forward to frequenting this establish.
