It’s sad that I feel compelled to write a bad review, because I love bbq and I really liked this place when it first opened up. I usually smoke my own bbq, but with the weather in the winter in this area, it’s a tough thing to do. We order here at least once a month, and the quality has gone way downhill from when the place opened. My wife and I just ordered some brisket and ribs(2 meat plate) and the meat was dry, tough, and inedible even after drowning it in sauce [something we don’t normally do anyway]. The onion tanglers were soggy, cold and coated with salt. The baked potato casserole had dots of hot-pink color embedded within them, presumably from the artificial bacon bits that disintegrated during their wait from when they were made to getting to our takeout order. This is pretty unacceptable for a meal that’s around 10 $ per person. I think I’m starting to see this unfortunate trend where restaurants are trying to save some money by holding their products way longer than they should and doling out meals that taste like overly dried and poorly reheated leftovers that are too salty for me to even give to the dogs.

My family and I went here tonight to try out Dickey’s under new management. It was a great and vast improvement over my previous visits over the past year. The workers were friendly and helpful. The food was of good quality overall(the brisket was a touch on the dry side, but otherwise had a good taste to it). The(ladies) bathroom was spotless. If you haven’t visited this place(or haven’t since the new management), you should give this place a try.

I LOVEDICKEYS. Just not this one. They were out of onion strings, baked potato casserole, baked beans, ribs and rolls. At two pm. Most all promised in twenty minutes if we waited(who would?). The meat was cooler than normal but still tasted good. There were about six lights out in the counter area. It was a very yucky vibe in there! Again, I LOVE Dickey’s but will not be returning to this one.

Visited 3 times in last month to use living social offer. First time we were told they were sorry but only have turkey due to fundraiser day before. A week later we’re told their smoker was broken so don’t have anything. Did receive free sandwich coupon with purchase of drink as apology. Today the store was closed with lights off. Guess we’ll ask livsoc for a refund.

I went to high school with Roland Dickey back in Texas(he’s the guy on the left on the tall picture as you walk in the door) but today was the first time I chomped into his meat. It’s not half bad. Chopped brisket should be smokey, salty and crunchy and my sandwich nailed the last 2.(Tip: Tell them to hold the sauce and add your own hot sauce(on the stand next to the drinks) or else bring in your own tabasco.) Sides of cole slaw and potato salad were average in taste, generous in quantity. There are also help-yourself pickles and free soft serve ice cream. This is a franchise, I guess, but the interior feels like a typical barbecue place in Texas and there’s a great soundtrack. This isn’t destination barbecue, but rather the kind of place Texans will visit in their neighborhood when the hankering hits. If I lived in Glens Falls I’d probably eat here every week.

I have been to Dickey’s three times, and each time was essentially the same, which is to say average. It is basically a strip mall fast food resturant that serves BBQ. You order at the counter, and then take your food to your table to eat with plastic silverware. The background music is an interesting mix of country, blues, and classic rock. The pulled pork I had was dry and stringy. The chopped brisket is excellent — had it twice. The sides are average at best. With beer not being available, average food, and a fast food ambience, Dickey’s doesn’t measure up to what I’m used to at a BBQ joint. While it will do if you are nearby and in a hurry, there are other local BBQ places that are better.

The Wife and I stopped by here on our way home from Lake Placid last Saturday night. There used to be a Dickey’s near our house down in Texas and we were not fans of it. However, we were pleasantly surprised with this visit. Everything was good, was a little disappointed that the chicken was a boneless, skinless breast instead of an actual boned breast. The Pulled Pork was done right… NOSAUCE !! I work nearby and will definitely hit this place again for lunch. Been starving for some good Q, and this might fill that void.

hoorah! a chain of BBQ joints that’s actually delicious! rolled in here Friday evening, starving. went for the 2-meat platter, which is only 10 bucks(a 1-meat platter is 9 bucks; this is a no-brainer for us economic minds). got the Texas brisket and the pulled pork. 2 choices of sides, and you get free soft-serve ice cream with your order. now that’s a slick deal! I have no complaints about the food. the quality and quantity was great. the pulled pork was better than the brisket, which was a bit drier than I like, but still tender and filling. for the sides, I got the jalapeño baked beans, which were quite spicy, and a bag of fried onions. my only complaint was that it took forever to get our food. not sure if they need to hire another person, or get the kitchen machine fixed, but it took us 40 minutes to get our meal. workers kept apologizing, but it was still a speed bump that they could have avoided.
