We went to Racine to visit the historic bars in the Bottoms Up documentary. After lunch at the Ivanhoe and an afternoon of hiking, we stopped at the Brass Monkey on our way out of town. What a treasure. The back bar is beautiful, the décor is eclectic and fun. We were greeted by several people as we came in. We later found out that one of them was the owner. Her granddaughter was the bartender. She was great and generous. The patrons were all friendly and a mix of regulars. They quickly offered to make room for us at the bar. They quickly made us feel at home and a part of the group. The beer selection was fun. I’m sure the Brass Monkey has a different atmosphere at night with the music. But for us, we loved the feel of the afternoon and the friendliness of this historic bar.

This bar is a little out of way, but work checking out if like DJ’s of different styles. They have different themed parties at different times of the year as well. One of the cool things is the voodoo like décor. As well as the eclectic beer selection. If you are up for a little something different its a place to check out.

I love this little bar. I’ve been here for the last two years. Every friday we host a different musical theme and we blend and scratch what ever we like. pluse this place is know for throwing parties; Packer games, Madri Gras, Starwars, St. Paties, you name it there will be a celibration for it. They allways have drink specials and they have one of the widest beer selection in the city. Bartenders are friendly with out being intrusive. a great place to meet friends or get away from it all. It’s a little bar but in the summer it opens it’s beer garden and it the largest in the city. Stop out on friday’s thats when i play.
