My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Firebirds Grill in the North Hills complexlast night. The food we ordered was really delicious, but what really made the dinner so great was the bartender/server named Danica. She was remarkable!!! We have always had great food and ambiance at any Firebirds, however we have never had somebody as conscientious as she was. She consistently checked with us to make sure everything was going well. We couldn’t finish everything we ordered and had plenty of left overs. We had mentioned to Danica during our meal that we were going to watch the band that was playing outside and she offered to box up everything and put it in the refrigerator. She told us just come back and get it when the concert ended. We did, and as a result we had a nice lunch today. Kudos to her and the staff at Firebirds!

The décor is nice. Fine dining prices. With a lot of food offerings on the menu. The waitpersons/hostess not volunteer to wait on female customers. Have to ask for help. And the hostess throw the menu on the table. The french fries are spicy, a lot of seasoning in the meat, and very salty potatoes. The prices are fine dining. Both hostess/waitperson talk back rude, rush to get rid of, yell and interrupt, stand behind females and yell in the ear, repeat same questions, eat food while wait on, walk away from females while they are talking to them. And sometimes they come back. The plates are big And full of big portions of food. Waitstaff not want to write down the order. They said it is not their job. WE said it was and did it. Got angry we not spend much money and not leave a tip. Give food and drink. Try to run away fast. After food is at the table. Ask if want anything more. We got ¾ ice in the water. And we not order water. We not come back. the décor is the only nice thing about the restaurant.

My wife and I only came out to Firebirds tonight and I must say it was an OK visit. We made the reservations online in advanced and noted on the reservations that tonight we were celebrating our three-year wedding anniversary. When we got to the restaurant the table was ready but the host staff nor the waitress really acknowledged our celebration. The waitress seemed like she had a snooty attitude the entire meal and really did not want to be there. I noticed other waiters and waitresses throughout the restaurant and they were very friendly and courteous to their guests. Our waitress just seemed like she had an attitude throughout our meal. I watched her at her other tables and she was much more friendly with them. We had to ask for numerous things throughout the meal. The food came out in a reasonable about of time, and it was very good however her attitude really didn’t make up for lack of service on our very special night. I used to manage and work for numerous different restaurants and that kind of attitude would not have been put up with. I was planning on tipping her much more then I did had the experience been much better. Our total bill ended up being almost $ 65.00 as I got a filet mignon, my wife got the cilantro chicken and we got a dessert. The overall experience was okay but I was expecting more then an okay experience from Firebirds. Our initial experience was way better then tonights and it is such a shame especially considering we chose firebirds to celebrate our anniversary. I truly hope the quality of service can be greatly improved so that any further trip will not be ruined.

I love this restaurant! The service is impeccable, and the food! It’s so hard to pick just one thing to eat. I’ve eaten the chile rubbed delmonico, and the ribeye with au poivre sauce. Both are divine and the steaks are cooked perfectly. The wood fired wings are delicious, as is the chicken tortilla soup. My husband swears the wood fired lobster tail is the best he’s ever eaten. The southwestern au gratin potatoes are to die for. Try the double diamond martini too, they go down easy!

This was a new dining experience for my wife and I as a part of our visit to Raleigh, NC. We discovered this restaurant through a regular Google search of the local area, and rather than go to the local Red Lobster or Ruth’s Chris I wanted to try something we’d never had before. From the restaurant’s atmosphere to the fantastic service to all the food selections that we choose, everything was perfect. And while I say that the service was fantastic, honestly everyone here was genuinely friendly and always seemed to have smiles on their faces. And the best part is that this restaurant was just one of several places in a downtown area of Raleigh that makes our local downtown area look horrible. Kudos to all for a great dining experience and for an attractive and inviting downtown area as well!

The steaks were cooked perfectly. I had the prime rib and it was tender and juicy and well seasoned. The Mac and cheese as a side is a must! The drinks were delicious and service was great. The ambience is casual and good if your just trying to relax and enjoy the company of the group

This is by far our favorite steakhouse in Raleigh! Our go-to for date nights and holidays, we always have great service and the food is phenomenal! Our favorites are the butt-bread, BLT salad, pepper crusted sirloin, and the Firebirds Chicken Pasta. Their whole menu is full of great items and their bar drinks are tasty as well! The atmosphere is great for a romantic evening out or a casual weekend dinner, we will definitely be back over and over again!

This place never disappoints. Of all the places we could eat at North Hills, we seem to end up here most of the time. Tonight we split a BLT salad and also split the bar bites Beef Sliders. All the food was super fresh and tasty. The service was great since the bar wasn’t crowded. We were pleased We even ate our cake from Edible Art here(see that review too).

This was another amazing experience with this restaurant. We made our reservation at 730, and was sat promptly as soon as we walked 8n the door. Our server was so nice, and gave amazing service. The food was so awesome. From the wine to t h e salad to the filet, and down to the cheesecake was perfection.

One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. So final meal before execution lobster queso to start peppercorn sirloin blue cheese style with either green chile mac and cheese or mashed potatoes and for dessert crème brûlée cheese cake add some wine and you have just had the best night of your life lol but seriously pretty amazing meal and if your feeling extra peckish your can order a side of button mushrooms with your meal just for fun best mushrooms ever !!

This is a pretty good steak house. When you walk in you feel immediately warm and cozy. The lighting is perfect with a beautifully lit bar. The seating is comfortable and there are gorgeous wooden trusses on the ceiling. We started out with the lobster queso because I mean, how can you go wrong with that?(You can’t) I had the wood grilled salmon which was perfection and my main squeeze had the blue cheese filet mignon which was wrapped in bacon. He thought the blue cheese sauce was amazing but the bacon seemed to be a bit off. We couldn’t manage dessert but I hear the Big Daddy’s Chocolate Cake will blow your socks off. Ps: Our server, Erin was great!

Quiet Sunday afternoon early dinner with a good friend. She had French Dip I had a burger. Most meats are cooked over the traditional Firebird wood fired grill. Everything smells woodsy with a smoke pit quality that is quite pleasant. Too early for most diners so service was a bit lackadaisical(the manager brought our meals to us) but not irritatingly slow. We both enjoyed the smoky taste of the meats and the fries were crispy hot. Homemade breads were an added bonus.

My husband took me here last night for my birthday! The wait was projected to be a 55 – 60 min, but ended up being less than 30 min. I love their text message system. Anyway, the food is amazing! The customize service is pretty good also! We would definitely recommend this restaurant! We ordered: Starter: coconut shrimp Entrees: Chile Rubbed Steak & Sesame Crusted Salmon

I’ve been here only twice, but I need to come more. Last night my boo took me here for a belated birthday meal. Of course, Saturday night in North Hills is always busy. Even arriving around 8PM, we still had to wait about 30 minutes. Our waiter, Cory, was a hustler, but too much so. He was quick every time he came by, but the passing off the check was rather rude. He just tossed it on the table & didn’t say anything. The food: awesome. I had the tenderloin steak salad. It was a really big size, which was good considering it’s almost $ 16. The steak was delicious, cooked medium well. The balsamic dressing was yummy. Boo had the delmanico(sp) steak & fries. It said it was amazing. Prices are pretty steep. Ambiance is nice. Parking can be tricky.

I was staying at the Renaissance North Hills, right down the street from Firebirds, so decided to check it out for a quick dinner, based on the recommendations from my fellow Unilocalers. The Smokehouse Burger(served with Java BBQ sauce, applewood-smoked bacon, cheddar, and red onion) — along with some steak fries and a Booker’s Manhattan — made for a nice dinner at the bar, and the guys behind the bar are great. The restaurant is incrediby popular, and all of the dishes I saw go by looked really good, so I’m looking forward to a return visit, this time in the dining room to try out some of the wood-grilled items on the menu.

I’ve been to Firebirds several times for lunch and dinner. Each trip has been a pleasant experience. Their specialty is grilling and they are quite good at it! Atmosphere: Modern styling with stone structures and a giant wall of wine bottles. They also have an open kitchen, which generates a lot of noise. It’s a trendy atmosphere that you can still be causally dressed for. Service: I’ve heard of people having to wait a while for a table, but I haven’t experienced that yet. In fact, I was able to have a last minute party of 5 seated for dinner within a few minutes. The staff has always been friendly and attentive. Sometimes I even forget that I’m at a chain restaurant! Food: Firebirds does a great job of offering a variety of accurately cooked meat. However, the portion sizes can be a bit small depending on what you order. Fortunately they have complimentary bread to fill up on :) Speaking of which, the bread is fantastic. Add some butter and you have an amazing start to your meal. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: Lobster spinach queso — One of the best lobster queso I’ve ever had. My coworkers ordered this to share and I had to stop myself from eating all of it! Coconut shrimp — I’m a huge fan of coconut shrimp and this didn’t disappoint. The winner is really the mango habanero chutney on top. I could eat that all day! Cilantro-grilled chicken breast — The smoked tomato jack cheese sauce is delicious. The chicken was fairly tender, but there wasn’t much variation in flavor. Durango burger — I didn’t expect much from a burger at Firebirds, but wow was I proven wrong. The crunchy fried onion strings and roasted garlic ranch sauce really pull it all together. I was also surprised by the crunchiness of the steak fries. Filet mignon — Had the filet twice, one was cooked a bit too much and the other was cooked perfectly. The quality is good, but I’ve had better ones at other place. Wood grilled salmon — Very tender to the point where it practically melts in your mouth. The vegetables were seasoned well too. Aged ribeye — A big chunk of meat that was cooked fairly well. It wasn’t that memorable, unfortunately. Green Chile Mac & Cheese — If you go to Firebirds, you need to try this! It was practically life changing when I first had it. To be honest, it’s not as good as it used to be, but it’s still a go-to side item. Mango mojito — I tried this during their $ 5 Wednesday drink special because I love everything mango. The waiter suggested that we get one with ginger in it, and I’m glad he did because it was so good. Crème brûlée cheesecake — Whoever decided to put two of my favorite desserts deserves a medal. Having that familiar crunch of crème brûlée with a creamy cheesecake made for a great dessert. Long story short: Pros — Some really standout dishes, meat doneness fairly accurate Cons — Most dishes are average, entrees are a bit pricey for the portion size Overall — If you want good quality meat with attention to doneness, but don’t want go to a place like Ruth’s Chris or Fleming’s, try Firebirds. If you’re looking to be wowed by perfectly cooked meats and/or huge portion sizes, then you might want to look elsewhere.

The Colorado chicken salad is a favorite and it’s always a healthy choice. My family has a tradition to eat lunch after church on Sunday’s and this is my mothers favorite place. The restaurant is always clean the the service is always good. My mom and I are salad junkies so she always orders the spinach salad. I like the bread they serve however sometimes it is cold or hard. The only caveat is the bathrooms. It smells like a urinal before you even open the door. It would be nice for them to pay closer attention to the bathrooms.

Oh that Unilocal were to have a negative one rating, that is what this horrible, awful, terrible, no good restaurant needs! I am disgusted it is open and believe the location and ability to snag unsuspecting shoppers is the only reason. I WILL be contacting their corporate office about this extremely egregious experience! Sunday evening I enjoyed some time with a dear friend shopping at North Hills. We decided to have an early meal and avoid the crowds. At 4:40 we entered Firebirds and asked if it was too early to be seated for dinner. After being told absolutely it was dinner there, we were seated in a booth directly adjacent to the kitchen. I found this odd given that we walked past half a dozen empty and clean booths that did not feature a view of the sweaty line cook, but sat without complaint there. Our waiter came over after a substantial wait to inquire on our drinks. Water was all we were interested in and he seemed miffed at that and wanted to rattle off the craft beer selection, though we told him no beer, wine or cocktails for us. We placed our orders, a filet for my friend and prime rib for myself. I asked for medium rare, she asked for medium. 38 minutes later, no food and only one quick ‘fly by’ of the waiter. We finally got our food a few moments later and the filet was well done for the first inch all the way around, my prime rib was bright pink in spots and dark brown in others, as though it had been pan fried before being brought to me. I took a bite of mine, knew I had to send it back, my companion did the same and we decided to flag someone down to speak to the manager. Several minutes later the hostess came with another unsuspecting party and seated them catty corner to us. I had to physically touch her for her to hear/respond to my saying«Ma’am?» repeatedly. I asked for a manager and 6 minutes later, he appeared. I shared the above with him and he said he would bring new entrees out. He did not offer to adjust our bill, he did not offer to bring anything as we waited, he did not even say our drinks would be filled. As he left, the party of 3 across from us called out that no one had been by to see them, either. I jokingly replied, «Good luck with that!» and he humiliated and admonished me loud enough to be heard several tables away. The egregious lack of service by the waiter is clearly a mirror of the horrific management practices in place at this location. I dine frequently at the 3 Charlotte area locations and have always had great experiences, however this seriously colors my desire to ever return and spend so much as a dime there. I will tell anyone who will listen how horrible and awful our treatment was. We gathered our packages, handbags and left and all he did was call out to the kitchen to cancel the order he’d just put in. Did not come after us to apologize, did not even seem to care how horrifically and rudely we’d been treated. This is by far the worst restaurant experience I can recall and that includes the truck stop I had to have a sandwich in back in the late 80s after a snow storm closed the interstate cross through the Midwest. Think about that, Firebirds. A greasy spoon catering to an average bill of 2 $ a person outperformed in service! Disgusted with Firebirds, I am!!! DONOTWASTEYOURMONEY HERE-it’s fantastically horrible!!!

Got a reservation to skip the wait? You’re going to have to wait regardless. We had a reservation for 8 pm but when we got there, they had us wait for 25 minutes. So much for reserving a table in advance… This Firebirds has a trendier atmosphere than that of the one by Southpoint. This one has a more«grab a few drinks and socialize» kind of vibe. Food was delicious– coconut shrimp is my personal favorite! The mango chutney sauce complimented the shrimp so well! Their steaks are pretty good too. Their seared tuna was okay but I don’t think I’d get it again. The spicy mustard that came with it was almost like wasabi(but didn’t really work with the tuna). Their complimentary bread is the best of all restaurants! Crunchy texture, soft middle-slab on some butter and you’re good for the night~ Biggest downfall of this place is that reservations don’t seem to matter. Dinners are pricey here(entrees run at about $ 20 – 30). I’d rather try out one of the nice local restaurants nearby than this franchise with that kind of money.
