Precision Tune Auto Care

I have taken my vehicles to this location for at least 15 years. Mostly state inspections and oil changes. The issue I have now is with my 2004 Volvo which I have brought exclusively to them for inspections and oil changes since 2011. Since I work from home, I never put more than 5000 miles on my car in a year, so I tended to only get an oil change once a year at inspection time. Prior to my last visit which was in May of 2015, everything was fine. After that visit, I started to notice oil spots on my garage floor, but since my car is now 12 years old I just thought it was probably a leaky gasket. As the months past, the oil spots became more of an issue, so I place a piece of thick cardboard under the engine to absorb it. Fast forward to this year. I needed to get my car inspected, but since I needed new tires, I took my car to where I always buy tires. Then I went down the road to get a 4 wheel alignment at a different garage. While I was there, I asked them to also perform the inspection and oil change. I left my car, but soon got a call from them. They told me that when they pulled the oil plug, it was stripped and the oil pan was also stripped. Since it is aluminum, it couldn’t be fixed, and a new oil pan was needed at a cost of about $ 1100. I had them do the work. Now I go back to Precision Tune Auto Care on Ballyewick Road in North Raleigh to discuss my problem. There is absolutely no doubt that their tech stripped my oil plug; I hadn’t brought the car anywhere else. Since I only have 100,000 miles on the car, the plug did not «wear out» as the manager told me since 2011. I understood that I didn’t give them the chance to «fix it», so I suggested that they pay what the Volvo dealer would change them for the parts. They accepted no responsibility and refused to pay any of the cost. Understand I have meticulous records for my car repairs, and I know with 100% certainty that they damaged that plug. They did insult me by offering a $ 100 shop voucher. Needless to say, they lost my business and I am making one of my life’s mission to expose them.

They could not locate the problem in my jeep. I would take it in, they would tell me that it was this or that and I’d pay to get it replaced. Then within several days my check engine light would come back on. I’d take it back in and they would tell me another part.

Have been taking vehicles here for over 5 years. Managers have changed but have always been consistent and helpful. Never pressure to do anything to my vehicles that may need to be done. I really wanted to write this review to compliment Gerald for how he handled an issue with my car that was caused or seemingly caused by this service station. After an oil change my car had some body damage. Gerald looked it over with me and instead of writing me off and not taking responsibility he (and the company) covered the cost to get the body damage repaired at another shop. I was very pleased with this customer service. Thanks Gerald.

The service was prompt and courteous on the day of the oil change. The next day I had issues with the vehicle not shifting gears and jerking while driving on the interstate. This is also the second time that I have had my car serviced here and had issues immediately following the service. I came back the next day after calling ahead and had the tech that serviced it Check the car and test drive it. The tech told the front associate that everything was fine. I got no further than a half mile only to have the same jerking issue. I returned to the store and asked that the tech, Mr. Wille, drive it with me. He knew that the car was not shifting gears as he drove it with me in the car. As I returned with the tech, the associate pretty much told me there was nothing they could do and if I was to bring it in the morning, Saturday, that there would be a long wait for a lead tech to look at my car. I did return on Saturday and the manager was refusing to even address the issue. I’m a highly suspicious that the tech mixed oil in with transmission fluid, which would cause jerking. The manger, Gerald was very offensive and guarded and refused to even drain the oil or transmission fluid. He basically blamed it on the age of the car eventhough this problem happened after my car was serviced here. I’m sorry that this location does not take pride in there work especially in regards to being professional.

I would just like to say My husband and I go to precision tune auto care and will continue to go there for all of our auto needs due to how they treat you there. They always welcome you with such hospitality. I just went there for an oil change and my inspection, they had it all done within thirty minutes and they were about the close but waited until I got there to do so. Such great people if only every place you went to had such great customer service! Thank you! I would highly recommend you to friends and family and of course strangers like I’m doing now!

I am always skeptical of auto repair shops as I’ve always heard horror stories, however I wanted to take the time to share my experience with this one. I walked in at 4:30 on the verge of tears with a 2 year old in tow. I had been living with awful squealing back brakes (brand new ones at that) for roughly 2 months. Originally I thought it was dust that would work its way out, but month later I was quickly losing my sanity over it.
I explained the issue to Mike at the front and he told me about the back brake service. They cleaned, adjusted and lubricated the brakes for me. $ 39 and 25 minutes later I was on my way. Since then I’ve had no squealing!
This shop has gained a customer for life. I will not go to another one (unless I need something they don’t provide). I was treated like my issue was of upmost importance. The level of service they’ve provided here is hands down the best I’ve experienced from a repair shop.

Good customer service. went in asking for a tune up (which I thought would solve my cars problem), after a diagnostic test they informed me it was just the throttle body. saved money and didn’t get haggled or pressured into getting others services done… first time I’ve ever experienced that at a shop, usually deal with mobile mechanics but these guys are top notch.

Good– Nice lounge. TV and one hour free wifi. Work that was done was done well.
Bad– They were slammed. I got there at 830am and got out at 1230pm. I ordered an oil change, air filter, and for them to CHECK the alignment. I walked down to chipotle to eat lunch and when I came back they performed the alignment even though it was only slightly off. They had my phone number and didn’t ask me if I wanted it done. I will admit I signed the paper and paid for everything without thinking about it because I was ready to leave. That’s my fault. They now have $ 60 for a service I would not have had done if I knew ahead of time how little the tires were out of alignment.

Timing belts on Toyota Highlander were replaced less than a yr ago @ another place but kept having squeaky noise on a cold start. Took it to Precision (John Monroe) by a friend’s referral. They didn’t disappointed me as I drove 30 mins from Cary to their place. Not only they fixed the problem they didn’t charged me a penny. The front desk person was very nice as well. Overall, it was worth the drive and I finally found the auto mechanic that I can trust. Thank you again.

These guys are very fair on price and always explain what needs to be done and what can wait. The lobby has been upgraded with very nice details like comfy chairs, a kids are with their own tv, free wifi, and a nice flat screen to watch ch14 news. I will be recommending them to all my friends.

I’ve been going to this specific Precision Tune for well over 10 years now and have never had a problem. Today my car would not start, so I called ahead. They took my car in right away, inspected it, and when it turned out just being an error on my part, they let me go and did not charge me the diagnostic fee. I always find their staff to be very helpful and honest with me. If they tell me that my car needs new brakes, tires, etc. they will take me out to show me what it should look like versus what mine looks like. The guys there are great. I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else. Shout out to Gerald for being awesome! Super nice guy.

I can’t really tell when people are being honest with me about my car and what it needs. Every time I take it somewhere people would tell me that I needed this and that when all I was looking for was an oil change. I think these guys are pretty honest. I took my car in because it had made some squeaky sounds when I pressed my brakes. I’m sure if I took it somewhere else they would have made me change all my brake pads, but they told me that my back brakes could probably go a little longer — I definitely appreciated that. They replaced my front brake pads and rotors. I’m glad I listened to the Unilocal reviews and brought my car here.
I’ll probably be going back for an oil change this weekend — will update my review then :)

So I don’t usually have much faith in car people anymore but the staff here have changed my attitude. I had a lot done to my car which made for a high bill but I never once felt like I was being stiffed and they were glad to show me and explain to me what was going on. The price was very very fair… I could have had some things replaced cheaper someplace else, but I believe you pay for what you get. I will be coming back to this location for future services.

No doubt these guys are very friendly and helpful. More importantly, I’m not very knowledgeable about cars, yet I’ve come to fully trust them to recommend what my cars need, not what they need to sell.

Service was prompt, waiting room is comfortable, free coffee, satelitte TV, one bathroom for men and women, bring a coupon and know if your vehicle may exceed the coupon… i heard this happen to one person while i was there. The counter staff was willing to help and answer questions. If I am in the area then I would go back if needed.

These guys are so great– consistent management so they get to know your family and cars. Never have they pushed an upgrade or insisted I need some extra service like other car places have in my experience. Would definitely recommend as a place to go for honest, quick car repair for both domestic and import cars, and cheapest oil change around.

This place is a great local place that has helped me with repairs and learn how to keep cost down. They have far exceeded any shop i have been at. Its close to my work, so I go there a lot. They have given me tips, and helped me get things fixed before they got worse and more expensive. I totally recommend this place. Most days you don’t need a appointment.

As Auto Care places go… these guys are top shelf!
Very courteous and sincere, the staff are helpful and friendly. They don’t talk down to you and you don’t feel like you are getting weaseled.
We take both our vehicles here for oil changes and other routine servicing. It can get a little backed up but they are very honest with the time estimates they give you. (There are places to eat/​shop within walking distance if you want to kill time.)
