The crew and I came here in mid March to play some trivia. It’s your typical little dive sports bar type pub in a strip mall. There is no hostess or an assigned waitress. Seat yourself and a few waitresses float around taking care of everyone. There isn’t one compiled menu, but rather a menu with with the apps and sandwiches and then another with the«supper» selections separated. This was a little confusing as we tried to make sure each member of our group viewed the whole menu rather than only one of the pages. Also, their beer selections are written on a sign on a wall rather than a menu that you can hold in your hand so we had to get up to go read the choices since they were not clearly visible across the room. Most of my friends got burgers and fries, but I got a Pe-Cran Salad with grilled chicken. Mixed greens, cranberry, pecan, feta, croutons, and I had them hold the tomato and onion. I had the raspberry vinaigrette dressing. It was a HUGE salad and really good. Pretty impressive for a little pub and only $ 8.49. The Barking Cow has quite the following for their trivia. We’re pretty good, but immediately got left behind because apparently regulars there get some sort of clue. We have played DJ Trivia before too so this was also confusing and a bit frustrating. A fun spot, but nothing too unique or endearing to make us want to go back aside from our first motivation: trying out a new spot to play trivia. One other thing… we didn’t really get the Barking Cow theme. A few walls had a picture of a cow or two, but it just didn’t really make sense. A nice little neighborhood spot, I’m sure though.

They have a wasabi-cucumber and a jalapeño ranch salad dressing — this is cool :) Their pickle chips are quite nice, and you get a great bunch of ‘em for $ 5. They have a good amount of local beers on tap as well, and they’re on special on Saturdays. A decent place to meet up for a Hurricanes game if the places on Edward’s Mill are too busy for sure.

The food was average bar food and would have received 3 stars. It is the service which lost them a star. Bar was only half full but it took nearly an hour for the food, almost 30 min to get a glass of water.

Went here for lunch last week and it was very busy. When we walked in, all of the empty tables have food piled on them. We sat at a dirty table and a server immediately came over and wiped it down. I got a veggie burger and it was excellent! Very crispy and flavorful. Not mushy like some veggie burgers. My friend got a cheeseburger and said that it was very good. Prices are reasonable too. I will be back!

I have eaten at this restaurant several times and the food has always been great. Recently, I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled salmon. The dressing was light yet tasty and the salmon was a quality cut and cooked perfectly. They had it ready in 10 minutes, which is great when you are on a lunch hour.

This was a great place to stop for lunch after some morning meetings. Good menu with lots of options for every taste. Due to the awesome grill smell when we walked in the door we all instantly craved burgers and didn’t try much else of the menu. The stockyard burger and sweet potato fries was delicious!

Busy place, which was decent. They have a much better beer list than expected. Had about 10+ beers on tap. A bunch from local NC breweries. They have decent bar food at good prices. We had burgers and fries. On Wednesday’s they have trivia. We didn’t stay, but the place was full of people ready for some trivia. I would go back for their beer and food. They had sports on all of their tv’s. You were able to see a tv from any seat in the place.

Bacon wrapped hot dog? Sweet potato-tots? Good beer selection? Don’t mind if I do! The menu(both food and beer) at the Barking Cow is what really stands out, if you can get past a few minor issues(see below). Along with a plethora of hot dog choices and the aforementioned tots, the Barking Cow offers your regular sports bar fare at a reasonable price. The items I’ve had have a pretty remarkable refinement given that it is, in fact, bar food and you’re ordering off a menu that sports a crazy mix of fonts and patterns that are kind of silly. The menu design is something I’d over look on it’s own, but I said something about a few minor issues, didn’t I? Sorry, I think I was daydreaming about the Aztec Dog… Right, the minor issues: First, the décor and ambiance(or lack there of) leave something to be desired. I get that it’s a sports bar, but they don’t seem to have done much with this place since it used to be ½ of a Pizza Inn. Second, the service is friendly if somewhat lackadaisical. I’ve been given the wrong beer a few times, which could have been a matter of the server not knowing that my light summery brew shouldn’t be the color of chocolate, but I’d expect a server in a bar to know a little better and it’s happened more than once even if it’s always been quickly remedied. Adding to this is that we’ve also had a server who was woefully uninformed about which beers are actually available(having to go back to the bar multiple times to check) which was slightly annoying. However, as I said the service is very friendly and these little glitches were the only ones I’ve experienced. So overall, good food, good beer, good prices but need a little tweaking in the decorative and hospitality sectors.

MOOOO! I like this restaurant. How can you not like it with things on the menu like«Angry bird» & «Hog Melt» & «Spicy Rooster Wrap» & «Junk Yard Burger.» Right? Or maybe something like«Bruben» will catch your attention. A Bruben is a bratwurst covered with corned beef, sauerkraut &mustard on a pretzel roll. My first time here I ordered the«Cheesy fun Guy.» That is mushroom & swiss. It was good. I will be going back in the near future. Food A Location B Service B Décor B

Hubs and I went to Barking Cow this past weekend before the Canes/Bruins game. We don’t get to this side of Raleigh much unless we have another event so we decided to give Barking Cow a try since it had decent reviews and was pub food… nothing better than pub food on a cold day and before a sporting event! I had dined here for lunch a few years ago when it was the little lunch restaurant before(can’t remember the name) so I was PLEASANTLY surprised by what I saw when we got in. The bar was super roomy and cool looking. There was a nice size crowd but we were able to snag a booth. We both had NC beers since they were $ 1 off. We started with the pickle chips– this is always a sure-fire way to start a pub visit off right. These pickle chips were some of the best we’ve had. SUPERYUM!!! I had the chicken tenders sandwich and hubs had the bacon-cheeseburger which was HUGE! Service was excellent! Atmosphere was awesome, and there were great views of all tvs and a wide selection of games. I loved seeing UNC get their butts kicked on the big screen. This may or may not have been the highlight of my visit at Barking Cow. We will MOSDEF be back!!!

My friends and I decided to give The Barking Cow a try before the hockey game last week. I was a little worried because it was really packed. I wasn’t sure if we’d get served quick enough to make it to the game, however, we were greeting quickly and sat right away. The service was much faster than anticipated! The food is standard pub fare, but very tasty. You must try the sweet potato tots! They have decent beers on tap and good drink specials. The Barking Cow had a really fun vibe and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I foresee more pre-hockey meals here in the future!

This is a great replacement from the prior establishment. Just good pub grub with a fun spin to the menu. Kid friendly and the staff actually seemed happy to have customers. We will go back for sure.

Hit this place for lunch with a coworker and was pleasantly surprised. I think the ridiculous name comes from the fact that they specialize in burgers, dogs and other pub food. I had a delicious Reuben, loaded with pastrami and kraut, served with spicy mustard instead of the usual Thousand Island — just how I like it. Came with a great side of fries. Looks like a good draft beer selection, including selections from local breweries. It was crowded there with the lunch rush, so we had to sit at the bar. So if you go during your lunch break, arrive early or late. Probably a lot more mellow at dinner.
