We have tried all of them and this is the best mexican food in Ramona. Great food, fast service, and always friendly. They do get busy on some nights, so we usually just call in our order and it is ready in 15 or 20 minutes to pick up. Not sure why others had complaints, maybe they went on some off night or something?

After a day of wine tasting around Ramona, my boyfriend and I were in much need of a substantial dinner. We asked workers from all three wineries and were not told about Mariscos Mar De Cortez until the very last inquiry. I’m not sure why everyone else didn’t inform us about this restaurant because it was really good. Sure, the ambiance is lacking and the building is quite old, but the food definitely makes up for that. We really enjoyed the chips and salsa. The chips were salted just right and the salsa was a perfect blend of chunky and creamy with a roasted tomato flavor. We shared a three entrée plate: cheese enchilada, chile releno and beef taco. My boyfriend said the taco was decent, but really enjoyed the enchilada. I opted for the chile releno and was pleasantly surprised with the flavor as many I’ve had in the past are far too bland. We were happy with our dinner choice for the evening and would recommend it for anyone passing through Ramona.

We went to Mariscos Mar de Cortez(Ramona) today just a bit after 1. Service was a bit slow at first. Menu’s and condiment baskets were pretty gross with dried sauce, etc. on the bottles. The server actually came out to see how we were liking everything after food delivery but, unfortunately for me, it was a bit too soon bc I’d later find that my tortillas were actually flour, not corn. Soda and food were fantastic. It was piping hot as well! Overall I’d have to say this place was pretty good compared to many other places I’ve seen.

Just rolled into town and searched Unilocal and found this lil gem. Huge servings, tasty corn Tortilla tacos. Cilantro lime chicken was off the charts. Priced right

I want to thank the staff and kitchen for not receiving our food or anything in the hour we were here. Glad for the beer but no appetizer or any food. Thanks assholes. oh and please check out these wonderfully filthy pics

Food was delicious and inexpensive compared to Mexican restaurant chains like On the Border. Very Comparable to Rubio’s but in a sit down atmosphere. Service was quick and kind. Hard to find someone when it was time to pay. Clean restaurant.

I’ve gone to this place twice now and loved it. The servers could be a little more friendly but the food and drinks are excellent. My only issue was last night that I went in at 8:30 for a late dinner and they refused me and said they were only doing to go orders. A friend of mine was eating there with his family at the same time and when I told him he said he had literally just been sat ten minutes before I got there. If you’re open until ten then you should be serving until ten

Finally got in to try the menudo and I was not disappointed. The soup was made in house, it had all the great flavors I remember from my grandmother’s menudo. They brought a side plate of cilantro, onions, crushed red pepper and lemon. My husband ordered the grilled shrimp burrito he was impressed with amount of shrimp that were in the burrito. The blend of flavors was perfect.

Run down overpriced dump. Don’t buy there«guacamole». It is powdered and sourcream with extra water. Board says $ 3.45 for rolled tacos but they charge you $ 5.95. Food looks bad. Skimpy.

The restaurant is supposed to be open until 10:00. We showed up at 8:20 on 12÷7÷15 only to be ignored for 5 minutes by the waitress chatting with a single customer. When she came to our table, she told us twice that she«thought» the kitchen was closed. I asked her to find out and she went back to the woman she was chatting with previously and talked to her for a minute. When she came back to our table she gave us some stale chips and menus and told us to hurry and order«just in case the kitchen wasn’t closed». I said, «have you asked?» She then went to the kitchen and asked in Spanish, «We’re closed, yes?» She did something else and came back to the kitchen and asked the same question in Spanish twice. It seemed to me she was just wanting the kitchen to be closed, to be honest. I called to speak with the owner and was asked why I was calling. I told her I had a complaint, she put me on hold, and came back a moment later to take my number as he was busy. I asked her what the manager’s name was on duty and she said it was the owner, Sam. That he was both the owner and manager. I left my message and did not hear back from him all day. I live in Ramona; however, I will NEVER go back there again. We don’t have much in the way of restaurants but, there is no shortage of Mexican restaurants here. Good luck with that, Sam from Mariscos

My wife and I stopped by for dinner last Monday evening while we were on vacation in the area. I read the Unilocal reviews before going here, so I had a general idea of what to expect. We arrived at 8:00pm and found the restaurant pretty empty. In fact, my wife was hesitant to go in but I convinced her to give it a try based on the Unilocal reviews. We were greeting by extremely friendly staff who seated us right away and gathered our drink order. We ordered 24 ounce beers and looked over the menu. My wife ordered chicken enchiladas with green sauce and I ordered a combo with a beef taco and cheese enchilada. When the food came, my wife asked me if I ordered two enchiladas with my dinner and the taco. I only ordered one, but the enchilada was so huge it looked like two. I grew up in Los Angeles so I am really picky when it comes to authentic Mexican food. We were SUPER impressed with how good the food was. The portion was large and the taste was very authentic. Unbelievable for a tiny little place in Ramona of all places. In addition to the amazing food, every employee was extremely friendly. Needless to say we were very impressed with the entire experience and we’re glad we gave it a try. I would highly recommend this place if you want awesome Mexican food with friendly employees and great service.

Yummy food! I have to eat small meals so I haven’t been able to fully partake but everything I have had has been good. We’ve been to a few Mexican restaurants in Ramona and since I eat light, I’m not as particular, but Marisco’s is almost always my husband’s choice. Love that they have both Negra Modelo AND Ramona’s local ChuckAlek beer on tap! Oh and employees are friendly and service has always been good.

I live about an hour away and every time I’m in the area I can’t resist stopping in. Their enchilada sauce is homemade and absolutely to die for! They sell it now in a jar for $ 12. Yay! If you’re feeling extra thirsty I would highly recommend their boot michelada. It’s huge and delicious. And their happy hour has margaritas for $ 3.50. Can’t beat that! Always good service.

I had the 7 mares yesterday on a cold rainy morning. I was the only one in the restaurant and Sam was working. I was greatly surprised on how good the soup was and packed with seafood-quality seafood. Very very solid. I will definitely go back to try some of their other dishes. Good job!

It is ok but no where near the best. I had the fish burrito which was a great price of $ 5.95 for a decent burrito. However, I also ordered the shrimp cocktail at $ 13.95 which was basically ketchup and shrimp pulled out of the freezer. The shrimp cocktail was a BIG let down. The service is very friendly and extremely attentive. They definitely have fantastic employees which will probably bring me back for the ‘good enough’ fish burrito.

On our way up to Ramona for the second time in as many weeks, we decided, for the sake of time, to try to find somewhere in Ramona for dinner. Not having any clue as to what was around(other than The Turkey Inn, which sparked neither interest nor desire), I turned to Unilocal, and found this restaurant. It was the closest restaurant, with the best price range and rating. It was a rainy, cold night when we pulled into the parking lot(it was a bit dark, I don’t think they have many lights in the lot. If they do, they were all turned off when we were there). The lot wasn’t very full, but we figured the rain was keeping people away that night. We were greeted right when we walked in, and taken to a table close to the front. The restaurant is actually bigger inside than it looks, and it was bright and clean. They brought out chips and salsa right away, and we took our times looking through the menu options. They have the dishes you’d expect from a Mexican restaurant, and the portions looked to be fairly large. Towards the back of the menu, they have combination plates, so if you’re like me(indecisive), or if you’re in the mood for a bit of everything, the combo plates would be the way to go. I decided to get the enchilada/tamale combo plate, while my husband got the two beef taco plate. Food ordered, drinks in hand, we tried out their salsa. It was good, but it definitely lacked in the heat department. The flavors were mild, and it wasn’t overly chunky(kind of a pet peeve of mine; if I wanted salsa fresca, I’d ask for it!) It paired with the warm, slightly salted chips well enough, but again, I would have liked to have had a little more kick from it. The food was delivered quickly, and the size of the plates… crikey! This is one of those, «if you leave here hungry, it’s your own fault kind of places», for sure. The combo plates come with rice and beans, and they fill you up on everything. To me, the enchilada was the best thing on the plate. Both the enchilada and the tamale were covered in red sauce and cheese, but for some reason, it worked with the enchilada, and detracted from the tamale. The masa of the tamale was also a bit crunchier than I had expected it to be. The rice and beans were good, but way too much food. I couldn’t even finish the«main» pieces of my plate, let alone the side dishes. My husband loved the two tacos, which were bigger than expected, and stuffed full of meat. They definitely didn’t skimp there, which was nice to see. He had problems finishing off the rice and beans on his plate, as well, but made sure to finish off the tacos(wouldn’t want to waste anything, you know!) I’m glad we stopped in here, instead of one of the fast-food joints off of Main Street. Aside from the food and the cleanliness of the restaurant, the wait staff was super friendly and helpful. They seemed to have a few regulars in there that night, and you could tell that they were genuinely happy to see and serve them.
