Low quality food for Sunday brunch. Don’t waist your money. Limit on champagne which is ok since it is also not worth drinking.

Great food. Most authentic here in Rancho that I have had in a while. Buffet until 2PM every day of the week and the bar in the back is a fun place to hang out.

Well… Sunday brunch, the time you get your friends together to have some afternoon debauchery and fill up your stomachs’ with what you will sure regret later. Came here after a night of drinking with friends. The line was out the door so we opted to go into the bar area to have a seat. The bar area is small, maybe 5 or 6 tables with chairs as well as some seats at the bar. There is a TouchTunes music player where you can hook up your phone via bluetooth so that is cool to hear what you want. Music is perfect volume, not too loud not too soft. Started off with champagne(you are only alotted 2 glasses of champagne per person) which sucks and it is not an actual mimosa, just the champagne. One of the girls’ in our party had a micheleda which looked delicious, tall glass with the chamoy chili stick candy. Another girl ordered the mango margarita which comes with a mango chili sucker inside. They have a full bar and something for everyone. Bartender was nice. Proceeded to the buffet, good variety of ceviche’s, fruit, salad, arroz con leche, cottage cheese, pasta salad, pozole, menudo, rice, tamales, enchiladas, tacos, sopes and desserts as well as cereal for even the most picky people(but the milk is not that cold which is somewhat disgusting). Churros are on point and warm. Waffles are decent. The list goes on and on. They do a good job at keeping everything re stocked but not that clean I noticed. Also it is a small area and very close together around the buffet so you get crowded easily The food is decent, ceviche was actually fresh tasting and I enjoyed… Guacamole is delicious!.. I think I filled up mostly on the ceviche and chips with guacamole. Menudo and posole do not have much flavor, I had to add lots of lime and salt because the broth eas bland. The rest of the food tastes alright, nothing to go crazy about about but definitely will hit the spot to get full and has something for everyone. The service, SUCKED and the waitress seemed to not want to be at work. Took forever to even get a water. If we asked for anything we felt like we were bothering her .The bus boys however did a great job of clearing dishes as we finished. The cleanliness of the place is meh… The floors were dirty and a broom could have been used at least. We did not sit in the the normal restaurant seating area so cannot comment on that. The bathrooms are clean, well stocked, and smell good and have cool pictures on the stall doors. Plenty of parking I am guessing for during the week but Sunday is packed. For the price, it is alright. If you don’t care about service or a stickler on cleanliness, then you will walk out full but no buzz unless you order additional drinks from the bar. I probably will be back for maybe a happy hour.

Was craving real Mexican food and my pops told me he heard this place was good. YES it is! The food was amazing! Didn’t take them long either to bring our food out. I got the Combination Plate #2 2 taquitos(I chose beef and they were absolutely perfect! Beef not salty and the tortilla was fried perfectly not hard at all) 1 beef enchilada Rice, beans, guac and sour cream on side The service was excellent, our waitress was attentive and kind. Definitely will be returning!

Bad service, nasty food! We waited 40 min just to get one appetizer when we ordered 2. We ordered queso and it was a bunch of mozzarella sticks melted together on a fajita plate! They never came back to take our order, then they argued with me when I complained nicely, so we left! Never again. .this was on a Tuesday, not even a weekend where it’s busy!

We came here for the Sunday breakfast buffet. It’s $ 18 per person. They had a nice variety of food but you pretty much fend for yourself. Don’t expect the waiter or waitress to come by and check on you anytime soon/nor to bring you the bill when you are done. You walk in and are seated you order your drinks then you head over and help yourself. The only thing that really bothered me was the fact that the patrons were so irresponsible with their kids and allowed them-even thought it was cute that they serve themselves. These are very small children who have no business in a buffet line much less serving themselves and spilling/mixing foods spoons and creating a huge mess. The parents didn’t seem bothered nor attempted to clean up after them. The restaurant should really put a sign up requesting these lazy parents to serve their kids.

Breakfast Buffet is really good and has a good variety of food items to pick from. they have menudo, pozole, enchiladas, even cereal for the picky eaters. Only thing is apparently the open at 9am on weekends :/minus one star. We like to eat early to avoid the crowds. I have eaten off the menu too and had the chicken Mole and Mole enchiladas. Both were very good! My compliments to the wait staff. they are very attentive and make sure you are taken care of, even on super busy days. We’ve been here several times and will continue to come as long as they keep up the good food and good service.

Excellent! Food: Large selection of well seasoned and flavorful food. Appetizers to dessert and you must try queso fundido and café de la olla. Very good for vegetarians, even during buffet. We went twice before reviewing. We even too my in-laws for their seal of approval, they grinned and smiled the whole time. Service: helpful and friendly. We never felt neglected or left out. There was a wait for the buffet, it was worth it. Wide selection of food. It was clearly fresh and delicious. Atmosphere/Décor: despite those less culturally aware, the décor features various prices of cultural arts and gives the place a nice authentic feel. Now, if we could just get some mariachi to perform there.

We love fonda… but lately I have noticed it is a hit or miss. Tonight was a miss. Service was not good, nor attentive. Food was subpar.

I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could. I was nervous to try it for the simple fact that I’m stuck in my ways with what Mexican joints I try, my sister begged me to go. so I did. and fell in love! when you first walk in you literally feel like you walked into a local restaurant in Mexico and then greeted by the sweetest people! sat down received our drinks in like 2 mins FLAT! So since there was a lot of us, our waiter(name starts with an O) was thee best waiter I’ve ever had at a restaurant, he gave us plenty of time to decided and refilled our drinks at the drop of dime without any of us asking! the complimentary chips and salsa are extremely dangerous because you will totally get full and not want to eat your amazing entrée! everything here is 10 stars in my book!!!

Waited an average time to get seated on a busy Sunday morning brunch. Waitress was prompt with service and constantly made sure we were ok. Food selection was great and was the best mexican I’ve had in a long time. The restroom was clean and the décor was genuinely authentic. I was there for the buffett brunch and as we were leaving at around 11am there was a 30 minute wait. The parking lot was full so be prepared for street parking. The only recommendations I have for the restaurant are: Turn on the patio heaters during a cold morning. Upgrade the music sound system, it sounds tired.

My friend always brags on Facebook that he’s eating brunch here with his parents so we kidnapped him and decided to see what it was all about on a Thursday night in the popular vacation destination, Rancho Cucamonga. Walking in from the parking lot we were greeted by 3 muchachos who were happy to see us. We sat in front of the wall with the creepy masks with blonde braids on them, but altogether a beautiful, bright wall with this huge portrait of two people wearing those same masks. Our waiters were super nice and attentive and our food came out shortly after we ordered it. I had the enchiladas verdes which were good. The beans and rice tasted great as well but I wasn’t stopping at every bite to brag about how amazing it was. We ordered dessert and the waiter accidentally brought tres leches cake instead of deep fried ice cream for one of the orders, but we kept that too. My favorite dessert was the tres leches cake and the regular flan. The chocolate flan was too rich and tasted like a brownie with flan on top. When we left everyone wished us well and even departing from the parking lot in our cars they were waving at us! Wow, it’s like we’re family!

Absolutely amazing! And yes of course it’s as good as the First Covina location. It’s a must. Same owner same products and the same passion for making authentic Mexican food. I have been here a total of 10 times and the consistency is fantastic. I recommend you try their lunch buffet to get a taste of what they have to offer. And don’t forget to order your hand made tortillas. Bravo Fonda Don Chon. –Edgar Muñoz The Mexican

Was part of a large family dinner down south here, several months back. Here for Mexican food. I remember ordering the following: –Filete Sarandeado: spicy grilled fish filet basted with piquin chile and California chiles, served with rice and beans –Piña Colada Could have been tilapia for which exact kind of fish I had, but the flavors came not from the fish but from the chile spices applied. Didn’t go overboard but was still quite satisfactory. I liked the mini Mexican flag toothpick planted on my served dish, representing the Jalisco region specifically. As far as restaurants go, this one reminded me somewhere in between of a Chevy’s spinoff and a more local mom-n-pop kind of place, though it was certainly buzzing and had colorful walls. Enjoyed my dish and beverage. Learned much about my family there that night. Let’s do it again!

Fonda Don Chon? Fonda Don Heck Yes! We headed to Fonda Don Chon in Rancho Cucamonga specifically to try the Supreme Molcajete because of all of the great photos that several wonderful Unilocalers had posted. The presentation of the Supreme Molcajete is beautiful. It comes in a traditional volcanic rock bowl that is overflowing with deliciousness. The dish comes with several hearty pieces of shrimp, steak, chicken, cactus, and melted cheese. Each component of the Supreme Molcajete is very tasty; including the cactus. The cactus is mild, soft, and seasoned perfectly. The steak was lean, the chicken was slightly grilled, and the shrimps were decent size. This dish easily serves three people and perhaps four. In regards to the service, the staff was excellent. The staff provided prompt and friendly service and ensured our drinks were kept full during our entire visit. You will also enjoy the bright colors on the inside, and it might make you feel as though you are a world away!

Came with my family and there are 12 of us! Made a reservation. Overall one of the better Mexican Restaurants in the area. FOOD Guacamole(4 stars): Good guacamole. Complimentary chips and salsa(3.5 stars): Good chips, good standard spicy salsa. Camarones a la diabla(4 stars): Shrimp were cooked well, and the sauce was actually pretty spicy! Liked the rice a lot. Side of Nopales(2 stars): I’ve had way better. Not very flavorful. Carnitas Plate(3.5 stars): Pretty moist pork. Deep fried ice cream(3 stars): Good but it’s not deep fried. Comes in a fried shell and the ice cream is just covered in cereal. Hits the spot still but it’s not deep fried ice cream! ATMOSPHERE Big restaurant with nice décor and colors. SERVICE(5 stars) Our waitress was great! On top of everything and got all of our orders correct. PARKING Separate lot, pretty big but probably gets packed during busy times.

Went for the buffet as a Sunday brunch. They were able to accommodate a very large party of 20 with little trouble. The food was very good, fantastic if you consider that it’s coming from a buffet. Real guac, real salsa, fresh tortillas.

As a long-time fan of Fonda Don Chon in Covina, I was excited when they opened their second restaurant closer to home. After a handful of visits, I’m happy to report that it’s just as good as the original. It seems like most people come for the lunch buffet, but Mrs. G. and I prefer to have dinner here, which means one thing: the Molcajete Supreme for 2, which is one of their more popular dishes. It’s a flavorful and behemoth-sized stew, packed with grilled steak, chicken, shrimp, and cactus, along with jalapenos, green onions, tomatillo sauce, an avocado, and large chunks of Oaxaca cheese, all served piping hot in a lava rock. Awesome! Fresh corn or flour tortillas(made in-house) come with the meal, along with the standard rice and beans. Service is friendly during dinner time and the Molcajete Supreme for 2 is always at least two meals for us. It’s a bargain at $ 24.99. Welcome to the neighborhood, Fonda Don Chon!
