So much better than before, who would’ve known cafeteria food could have such high standards?!

Sorry, Simpson, but now that I have choices, I would never go back here for the food. The employees are AWESOME and sweet but the food… it’s just not something that you wanna eat for 4 years… The food is terrible but it gets surprisingly better during big public events or when a huge group of people visits. But it’s terrible during the school year. The funny thing is they spice things up by trying new recipes and different things — this is the first place I’ve ever seen bacon on top of cupcakes. The attempt to be gourmet with limited resources is sad. I would say their best meals are breakfast. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, and hashbrowns. You can’t go wrong with that. Oh, and fresh fruit. Also, as a student on campus, you’re required to pay for a meal plan. And you have a certain number of meals per week. If you don’t eat at the caf, sucks for you. You lose your money. It doesn’t roll over and you don’t get it back. I can say this because I attended for 4 years and I HAVE tasted a better cafeteria in a similar private Christian school in SoCal. One star because it’s the lowest that counts as a rating and it didn’t kill me.

I mainly chose the 2-stars because of the line to describe it reading, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Which… is the case with ANY college cafeteria. No University cafeteria is top notch. I’d say that it give you what you want and what you need: food. And quite a variety at that. Pretty heavy in pastas and breads and other carbs, so I’m definitely careful, but otherwise it’s as good as any college caf. :)

Personally I enjoy the food. You are offered 3 different hotmeal options, a cold cut bar, salad bar, and different desserts. You are also able to go back for more-unlimited. It is not«fine cuisine» but it is still pretty good.

Here’s the deal: It’s the cheapest meal in Redding(outside the Good News Rescue Mission), and the complaints you will hear from Simpson University and A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary students fall well within the range of every college student’s gripes about every cafeteria on every campus across the country. There are ample sources of protein and vegetation(fresh, cooked, and, yes, at times you can get former-flora braised beyond recognition), and, as the ubiquitous economics of college cafeteria’s demand, carbohydrates of every size, shape, and description. But I did point out that it’s the cheapest meal in Redding, right? Parking’s not bad, and the sociological observation opportunity is a major plus.
