We came here for lessons for our wedding first dance. We called in pretty much 2 months before our wedding(which was held out of state), and luckily were able to squeeze in two lessons before we flew out. Our instructor was Rebecca and she did an AMAZING job. Since neither of us really danced, we were really worried that it would be difficult for us to remember the routine or even move with the music. For our first dance we decided to use Thinking Out Loud. As soon as Rebecca heard that she enthusiastically listed out some potential dance moves we could use! Prior to getting started on the dance floor, Rebecca asked about the layout of the venue, what type of shoes and what my dress looks like to make sure the dance moves we do was actually feasible. It’s always good to know that someone else is looking out for you when you are a bit scatter brained from all the planning! At first we planned on using the entire song, but Rebecca convinced us to consider a shorten version of the exact song — can I just say I AMSOGLAD she recommended us to do so!!! The dance still incorporated all of the components I have always dreamed of(lots of twirls, some fancy interlock move, and a dip at the end). I would say though, the dance studio can get very busy during the evening. There are group classes and private lessons going on — so the instructors might be running a bit behind here and there. But Rebecca made sure to still give us the full amount of time. I would highly recommend coming in before 5 pm if you can. Less traffic, more dance space and best part I believe they have a slightly discounted rate! Or weekends is also an option! During our second lesson, we felt like we still had so much we needed to do, so Rebecca was nice enough to stay longer and give us a double lesson. She was super easy to work with and her instructions were very clear. It was a pleasure watching Rebecca dance/showing us how to do the moves… she moves so gracefully. You would be in good hands!

I’ve been coming off and on for years and have a great time. The staff is friendly and the instructors do a great job at breaking down steps for you to learn. It’s a great environment to learn a new dance, refresh your memory, or stop by for a Wednesday salsa party or Friday social dance. I particularly like this place because I feel more comfortable here, the dancers just come to have fun without judging you.

Originally came here for the Wednesday night Salsa Party, added private and group lessons later. The teachers are encouraging and accomplished dancers themselves. One of the things I value at DW is the variety of dances available. While I generally attend WCS and salsa events, I have the opportunity to also try tango, East Coast Swing, waltz, and others.

We got private lessons at Danceworks for our wedding dance and had an outstanding experience. Rebecca was our instructor, and she is an amazing woman and a great teacher. She did a great job assessing our abilities and challenging us while keeping our goals attainable. We worked with our own song and had lots of freedom to provide our own input to the lessons. She was also very patient when we screwed up and would break steps down so that they were easier to pick up. Above all, though, Rebecca is funny, engaging, and an all-around great human being, which made coming to every lesson a joy. We never felt rushed through a lesson, even though sometimes she had engagements before or after. Rebecca always gave us her full attention and made us feel like our lesson time(and our success!) was important to her. Our first dance turned out beautifully, and everyone loved it. I felt like a real pro when we stepped on to the dance floor that night, and I will never forget that. If you are considering dance lessons for your wedding, absolutely do them with Danceworks. The experience, both at the studio and at your wedding, is worth every penny you pay for them.

So far I’m liking it due to the people I met and the instructor I have. My boyfriend and I went as it is a closer option than Century Ballroom in Seattle, but also because they also have a variety of different dance styles taught. East Coast Swing really feels slightly different from West Coast Swing, but I’m confident I’ll be good at it by the time I’m out of this class. David proves to be patient and friendly with everyone, and really knows what he is doing.

My lovely lady took me to a waltz class to instill in me a little grace and class because my dancing usually consists of spasms and gyrations. I have to say, I walked in with great anxiety, not knowing what we were walking into. I imagined a room full of old-ish, very tanned people dressed to the 9s who would look at us young-ish newbs all judgey, but was relieved to find a room full of old-ish, Seattle-pale regulars looking excited to learn some classy sway. I don’t know if its the movies that make me this way, but I always find it endearing when I see someone who looks like they have no place on a dance floor practicing by themselves with their eyes closed and their imaginary partner in tow. So the venue was nice, the teacher was good, although hard to understand with her thick accent, but we jumped into a class that already had a few weeks under their belt and familiarity with the moves and language of previous weeks. My gal and I tripped and stumbled theough most of the lesson and, I’m pretty sure, offended most of the class by not following the unspoken rule of changing partners per routine, woops. Me thinks that had we come from the beginning, the entire experience would be primo, so I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to learn a way to make their love interest swoon. If you don’t have a likeable personality, tons of money or power, rippling abdominals and glutes, or a British accent, up your game here.

We bought a dance lesson package to learn some moves for our first dance. Rebecca was amazing! So friendly and patient when sometimes it felt like we were stumbling on ourselves with our two left feet. We hope to go back as husband and wife for more dance lessons!

Danceworks is great! We went to them for guidance for our first dance(we got married this October). We decided that since my now-husband hadn’t ever really danced before, we should try it out — so we embarked on their ‘Introductory Sampler’ as a couple for just under $ 100. We were assigned an instructor for our four private lessons; we worked with Logan Beeghly. He’s a great instructor and a funny, all-around nice guy! After feeling out several different styles in the introductory sampler, and finding that we didn’t suck, we decided to go ahead and book a wedding dance package with Logan, which consisted of 8 private dance lessons. Having already learned the basics, we were able to really maximize our wedding lessons, and learn a great choreographed routine! We ended up doing a rumba to a unique song that was meaningful to us as a couple. By the end of our eight wedding lessons we were pretty comfortable with the routine, but we kept up the practice on our own. When the wedding day came, we nailed it, and everybody was super impressed, since we hadn’t really broadcast that we were taking lessons! They were especially impressed with my husband who is usually far from the ‘creative, artsy’ type! More than anything, it was a very fun experience to take dance lessons here. It was a nice bonding experience with my fiancé, and it was a very comfortable environment to learn in. We look forward to going back and trying out more lessons soon!

Danceworks is a great studio. They offer ballroom, salsa, bachata, and Bollywood classes. All of the instructors are attentive, easy to follow and professional. They frequently offer unlimited passes for $ 100 a month. The studio is clean, bright and has a friendly atmosphere. If you are new to dancing check out a Friday sampler class! You will love it!

The dance floor is smaller but the ambiance is very nice. They played mostly salsa, but some merengue and barchata. No alcohol! Whats up with that! Still a ton of fun. The best thing about their set-up is they have excellent ventilation.

I recommend Danceworks to every one I know. The people(staff and students) are so nice and down to earth. They remember that the vast majority of us are not trying to be world champion dancers and teach students to be excellent social dancers. They keep it real, and they keep it fun.

My wife and I have been taking classes and attending events at Danceworks for over two years now. It is a very warm and fun studio. It is not geared for professional or want-to-be professional dancers — very low-key. And many of the beginning lessons have more experienced dancers attending as students(to warm up or just to have fun), so there are knowledgeable people to help you in your first attempts. This is a GREAT place to learn social dance.

DanceWorks is a great place to learn, especially for beginners. The instructors are friendly, and the people equally so. Lead or follow, you’ll have a good time, as the range of skills is very broad. I’ve been told that they do put on great events, though haven’t been to many myself. They have good pricing on lessons too, and let you get unlimited lessons for a set price, or packages for a discount. I highly recommend it if you’re looking to learn, or wanting a friendly low-pressure dance environment. Beware of the effect that nearby tech companies have on it’s population though; read into that any way you’d like.

I LOVE DanceWorks! I am a complete beginner to any kind of dance, and just started taking salsa lessons here a couple months ago. The classes are really fun and you can drop in to any of them. They also hold open salsa dances every Wednesday night, which is a few hours of fun and practice for a great price! I just started Argentine Tango last week, and have also been doing their Saturday Bachata classes. I’m loving all of it, this place is great! :)

This place is great for dancers of all ages and levels. It is especially good for beginners because of all of their beginners classes, friendly staff and dancers who come to it regularly. They teach group classes and private lessons and hold frequent dance parties. The best part is that they teach/play a wide assortment of music and the punch at the parties is great! :)

So picture me about 30 pounds heavier. Wait, don’t do that. That’s kinda rude and not where I gain my weight. Ok, start over. Picture me 2 years ago coming to the realization that(1) I was about to turn 40, and(2) I really needed to get started on that whole exercise thing I’d been putting off for… I dunno, since ’92. I had tried the running, walking, eliptical stuff, and found it boring. So I went searching for something that was a group activity. What I discovered was that yoga, pilates and aerobics are pretty frickin’ expensive and generally subject to crazy membership fees and other general used-car-salesman-like tactics. So I stumbled across Danceworks and signed up for an introductory 5 lesson sampler package. I liked it. I ended up deciding to learn Salsa, and there it was… a fun, inexpensive aerobic activity I could get into. Oh, and a class? $ 38 a month. No membership requirements. Now, it is 2 years later and I still go to Danceworks. I’m focusing on Tango now with their fantastic instructor Patty Leverett. I can’t rave more! They’ve managed to teach a white, southern boy some moves. Scott(the owner/manager) is fantastic. He keeps it a nice, family-friendly place. Oh and ladies, ready for this? With it’s proximity to Microsoft the men typically outnumber the ladies. Especially in the Latin classes! Take that Century Ballroom. And at 6−7pm, Redmond is usually 20 – 30 minute drive from Seattle(I make this commute myself). Anyway, kudos to Danceworks. They are a great place and manage to inject a little G-rated fun into my NC-17-rated life.
