Paint Away

NEVER AGAIN WILL I COME TO PAINT AWAY! I used to come here to relax and paint. I had at least two birthday parties here and hosted my friends bachelorette party here as well– which was a disaster, we planned it months in advance and we reserved the room in the back however, when we got there there was a birthday party already happening in the room we reserved! We had people come down from Everett area to come to this bachelorette party! We were so disappointed. She never gave us a discount or anything, we all paid full price and were supposed to get a free thing that came with it but we did not get that either.
Despite this mixup, I continued to come back, I painted magnets, piggy banks, plates, cups. everything. When I came back one time to pick up my things, the gal at the front desk who was just facebooking on the computer, went back to grab my things and when she came back with EVERYTHING in her hands at the same time, she dropped one! I was really upset she should not have carried everything out at once.
All she gave me was store credit for the item that fell. But that does not replace the hours of work I spent painting.
So I tried to use the store credit and started painting my item and when I finished and went to pay for it, they tried to charge me three times the marked price! They mistakenly put the wrong price above the item I painted! I told them there is no way I am paying for this, when they made yet another mistake…
I spent so much time and money here and came back because i loved it but the unprofessionalism of the staff has not improved over the years I’ve come here and I will not be coming back, there are many other places that do this for better prices. Like the one in Issaquah, the staff is much friendlier there and the prices are better! NEVER AGAIN WILL I COME TO PAINT AWAY in REDMOND

We hosted a party here for little Samantha’s 7^th birthday party. They had a little room for us reserved in the back. They designated two long tables for our area where the kids could paint. They had very limited space for our pizza, cake and gifts but we made it work. Upon arrival, we were walked to the back room. However, no one said anything more to us about set-​up so I took the initiative to set-​up on our own. We had to find someone to assist us with providing two bowls for candy and help hang a bday sign. Since they were busy, it was difficult to locate anyone and with the set-​up time crunch, this was a bit annoying. The studio had $ 15-​$ 17 pieces located in our designated area for the kids to pick from. Prior to booking, the representative on the phone informed us we would have a designated studio worker to assist us in manning the party and assist all the kids with their projects. They had a designated studio worker who assisted the kids paint… however, she was also going back and forth assisting with the management of the studio as there was only one other worker. Needless to say, assistance was limited. Our area was right by the backroom and the bathroom so there was a lot of traffic coming in and out of our area which was a little distracting. The studio is located in the Redmond Towne Center so parking was a little bit of a challenge. However, the Farmers Market was going on during the bday party so it was quite convenient for the children’s parents to attend the Farmers Market or shop while their kids attended the party. NOTE: Since space is limited in the «party» area, the studio encourages parents to drop off and pick up for bday parties… hosts obviously pick up a lot of the painting assistance duties as staff is limited. You can make party reservations online and select your preferred party time slot. Upon making reservations, you are required to place a $ 60 deposit. On the day off, the studio prefers you show up right on time. Not before your allotted time because they literally stack the party time slots one right after another. Our party was from 2:30 — 4:30. Which meant that the time slot prior to us was 12:30 — 2:30 and the party after us was 4:30 — 6:30 which doesn’t leave a lot of time for set-​up and clean up. Luckily we realized this prior and told everyone our party was from 2:45 — 4:15 to allot for enough time to set-​up and clean up before the next party arrived at 4:30. Overall, Samantha and her friends had a fun time.

Great place for 2 on a date or with kids. The prices are affordable and the ceramics are so pretty.
Sit by the window and stare out while you spend a couple of hours painting away! The service is okay, I mean I guess they leave you alone to paint away but I was hoping one of the people working there would have eventually come by to ask how we were doing, whatever needless to say we enjoyed our time!

nice place to bring your child, but there is an issue with the staff. they were not helpful, short with their answers and basically rude. i could not wait to get out of there!

Been coming to Paint Away for a few years … the prices seem to have increased, but for what it includes, it’s not bad. What’s not to love about a place that insists on you leaving your mess behind so they can clean up … especially when you have kids.
We recently had a baby and we decided to make some special presents for the Grandma/pa’s. The staff at Paint Away was amazing at helping us. I always ask for Katie — she is SO patient when it came to working w/​our son trying to get his footprint on mugs, ornaments, plates, etc. She also had tips and tricks to getting the best print and was so good at helping us wipe the items clean when we didn’t get the print just as we wanted it. She also works quickly so that our little guy didn’t get upset.
This is a great rainy day activity in an area which rains a lot — but what more, it’s a very therapeutic activity … one which is very relaxing to do when you don’t have kids climbing on you.
They have a huge selection of items for all price points. They have all the equipment you could possibly need. They’ve done a great job of showing you what the fired colors look like depending on how heavy you use the paint. They have all kinds of tools and tips for you if you’re not sure how to pull off a design. They also have a ton of examples to inspire you if you’re not sure what you want to do.
They also offer parties for kids and adults alike. Bear in mind that it does take a week to get your item back once you finish painting it. If you don’t finish your item you can leave it w/​them or take it home and bring it back when you want to finish it. Either way you pay when you leave, which makes picking up your creation easy as all you have to do is show your receipt or give them your name and they retrieve it for you, wrap it up so it doesn’t break and send you on your way … nice and easy!

I love painting pottery, and this a a nice place. I have had one item come out of the kiln cracked, but they gave me store credit. I will say that it get’s VERY busy on the weekends with kids and parties. I feel like they try to fit too many people in the shop sometimes and you can’t really focus on your art, but the girls who work there are great and the atmosphere is fun.

How disappointing! My friend gave me a voucher to use so I brought family in to check it out. It was about 15 minutes to closing on a Friday night. So, we realized we’d have to pick our piece (s) out and bring home to paint. However, after we picked out what we wanted and got to the counter, the cashier advised us that the owner had said that on the last day of a voucher, you cannot pay for pieces to take home to paint. She suggested that I come back another day and I could use the voucher for the $ 18 paid, not the $ 36 value the voucher said I should receive because it was brought in before the expiration. I showed her the voucher and said the fine print doesn’t say anything about this rule. She said the rule only applies to vouchers on the last day. The cashier thought that I should be able to get the value of the voucher paid but said that she had verified with the owner already. I’m not sure why the owner would use a promotion to bring in customers, only to lose them when they walk in the door because of arbitrary rules preventing the use of the voucher. I will not be back.

First time there… using a gift certificate from Christmas. I haven’t painted pottery in YEARS so I was excited to get back into it. The staff was SUPER friendly! Gave us the lay of the land, instructions and turned us loose :) The ONLY ONLY ONLY thing that I wished would have been different is that it seemed like they were just doing the same pitch that they do 1000 times a day… so they raced through it. Talked a little too fast for us. But we managed. If we had questions they were right there to help and our projects turned out BEAUTIFUL!
We will be back for sure :)

This is a fun activity to do every once in awhile. I’ve been to many of these types of places before and i feel like their prices are a little high. Also, the customer service left much to be desired. If you just want to paint on your own and don’t need much direction this place is just fine. I will say that my finished product turned out well.

Honestly I’ve loved this place… up until today. My girlfriends and I go here at least once a month to catch up while we paint. The girls that work there are awesome and friendly EXECPT for the owner. Can I say she’s a rude b*tch? First of all… for being an owner, she CANT run her own store. At first I thought she was just a rude worker until I found out she owned the place. Yes, today was a bad day to go in – there were 2 big parties and the place was packed! Instead of taking control of the situation, she was a wreck and quite frankly ANNOYING!
The cherry on top was when I went up to pay. I usually bring in bisque ware from Seattle Pottery – been doing it for the past 3 months. Its not that it’s cheaper, but the fact that I found other pieces that I’d rather paint than the pieces they have at Paint Away. So I told the owner (who was ringing me up) that I brought in my own bisque ware. She rambles on and on about how she can’t glaze and fire it for me because its from somewhere else and how I can only use their pieces… blah blah blah. So I told her that I’ve been bringing in my own pieces for 3 months without any problems, then asked her «So you can’t fire my pieces?» Rudely, she said she can and then told me that she will talk to her staff not to anymore.
Don’t think I’ll be going back any time soon – unless there is a change in management!

Just attended a bridal shower here– great idea. Fun to paint gifts together– and then bride receives everyone’s work! Super meaningful, great evening together.
Paint Away has talented staff, just ask for help with different techniques and design ideas.

What a great novel concept for a personalised gift!
Located in Redmond town centre, Paint Way is a ceramic painting studio where you are the artist! It’s great to make a personalised gift or to bring kids to unleash their creative talent!
Firstly, you choose your piece of ceramic — there’s a wide choice of mugs, bowl, figurines etc. Then you sketch your design in pencil before painting. They have 50 paint colours and of course you can mix the colours. There are also special glazes available. Once you’ve finished your masterpiece, you give it to them to fire with a clear glaze and it will be available for pick up in 7 days.
There were a lot of activities for kids advertised from summer camps to night events.
