If you like Thai, this is a place for you. Don’t expect good service, it’s all about the food. Yum

Very below average. How does this place have hour stars? Crazy. Stopped off as it looks like it could be a good cheap hole in the wall style thai place but totally not worth it. Ordered a Green Curry which was very watery, and my meat was overlooked and dry. Not recommended.

I hate to write negative reviews for small mom and pop businesses, but I think it’s only fair that people know. We chose this place because it had such high ratings on Unilocal, but the food was a huge disappointment. We got pad see ew and the seafood yellow curry. The pad see ew was average at best. The yellow curry was awful. It tasted like someone just poured cheap yellow curry powder on some seafood and lots of onions. If you like authentic Thai food, I do not recommend this place based on my experience.

How the hell does this place have 4stars? A while ago I had lunch there, service was bad and food was bland, but everyone can have an off day I thought(and the place does have 4stars right?), so I gave it another try with a delivery order. Let me just write what happened and please decide for yourself if the place deserves 4stars… The order would take 50minutes to be delivered, after 1hour I called and the otder was«on the way», after 90minutes I called back to check again, because thevrestaurant is 5min away, and I got laughed at and the person hung up the phone… I already gave up on my food to be honest, but after 1h45min they finally showed up. I asked if the food was still warm, «sure»! Food was a mess, spilled all over the bag, cold, the duck dish lacked duck and the shrimp in the soup became rubber shrimp(normal after 1h45min I guess)…

I’ve been to Siam I Am a handful of times for lunch here and there, and though the restaurant is small, the food is pretty reasonable and the service is always excellent. I came here the other night with my mom and sat down in the corner. We ordered the thai chicken curry, pineapple fried rice, and the chicken larb salad, with an extra side of rice. Every dish was only $ 8 or $ 9 each, and we ended up with a whole lot of food. I am a big fan of chicken curry, something about the sweetness and the coconut milk. Anyways, the curry here is pretty good. There’s thin slices of potatoes(I think?), pieces of chicken, and some other veggies in a soupy consistency. I like to eat it over rice. My mom really likes pineapple fried rice, so we got that and it came with shrimp, pineapples, and some chicken. It had some curry spices in it too, which was an interesting mix with the sweet pineapples. I enjoyed it because I like anything curry flavoured. The larb was really good because it had such a unique flavour, totally different from the fried rice and chicken curry. It wasn’t sweet, it was more tangy and spicy at the same time. I recommend this dish because it really challenges your taste buds and it’s delicious! We took home about half the food because we couldn’t finish it, but I ate it the next day it was great! Also, during the time we sat down and ate, there were around 6 – 8 take-out orders that people picked up. I didn’t know how popular they are for takeout!

What a surprising treat, and by that I mean Siam came thru on my expectations. Thailand Restuarants in the USA are very similar to other smaller Asian Restuarants w a high volume in delivery service. But, yeah, Siam, know your history of pro nouned«Sai uum«provincial old world food and it generally take better and the fe Sai Umm restaurants usually do great business. This place was no deferent. We had steamed veggies and prawns dish, it Pineapple rice, chicken satay, 2 Bbq chickens, pad Thai vege style. This place was a better deal and price than Thai dishes in mB. Call and get it hot.

Sadly last night wasn’t a good night for the usually excellent Sam I Am. We called to order some to-go items(it was late admittedly). We were put on hold and the receiver never came back. We live close so we just walked to them, still on hold. When we entered, we told the hostess we were still on hold. She apologized and said two people, a delivery guy and The other hostess, had left. Not sure if just got the night or for good. We ordered our items, papaya shrimp salad & pineapple fried rice. It was ready fast, almost too fast. When we got it home, we discovered the papaya salad had no papaya and the salad was just chunks of cabbage undressed. The fried rice was fine, luckily. Next time, we will call earlier. Everyone can have an off-night. The last time we went to Sam I Am, we were served some bad rice(giant chunks kind of melted together). Hopefully our next visit will be better.

I am a big fan of Siam I am. Everyone that works there is super nice especially the delivery guy! As a customer I feel like it’s my duty to report good and bad food. So here it is. I ordered the BBQ chicken and it was horrible! The leg that they gave me had no meat on it. It looked old and smelled weird. The white meat was super dry that it was curling up and I was separating the meat. I really think the meat was old… can say but maybe. I just hoping I don’t get sick because I ate some of it! I called them to tell them that I can’t eat it! If o could exchange it for one of my fav dishes, the broccoli beef. And of course they did! Not a problem at all. Anyways, this is the only thing I have gotten there that I hate. Do not order the BBQ chicken. Everything else is great! Siam I am is a really good hole in the wall but they missed it on this one.

Quite honestly this is one of only a few thai places in South Bay that have kao soi — a rich coconut curry soup with egg noodles in it. My go-to place for kao soi is in Culver City(Taste Kitchen) — this is a close second. It’s the only thing I have ordered from Siam I Am and I have only had food to go. You can order online and pick it up. It’s tiny inside and parking on PCH is interesting sometimes.

I have been going to this place since they opened, food has been consistently excellent and incredible value! If you are ordering for home delivery on Fri or Sat evening order early — they do get really busy.

I live 30 min. Away from here and based on Unilocal reviews o decided to pass by and pick up dinner to go. I walked in at 8:30pm(30 min. Prior to closing time) she was in such a rush to take my order and says they were closed exactly at 8:45 but she still took my order. Order came out in less that 5 min. And I said«wow that was quick». She ignored me and quickly ran to the back kitchen, I checked my bag and there were no utensils to be found. So I ask for the utensils and she came out with the worst attitude. Claiming they were closed as if I owed her gratitude for taking my order. First of all Ms., please make sure you turn off the Open sign and flip it to Closed! Even if your food is good you definitely have left a bad taste in my mouth! Please learn how to treat your customers rather than flexing your muscles and pointing out your stupid sign saying«we have the rights to refuse customers»

Yikes I am so bummed! Not sure if ownership or management has changed but the food quality has gone so downhill I don’t think I can order from here anymore. They first delivered the incorrect noodles which they gladly replaced but took the incorrect one back with them too, which made me wonder if they planned on serving it to someone else? Hope not. I had asked for extra spicy and with lime and I didn’t get any lime in the correct or incorrect one and the correct noodles they sent me had absolutely no spice but was also too sweet… I appreciate them sending the corrected noodles but I preferred the first spicy one they sent. The chicken satay was a TINY portion(I think maybe 1 oz pcs of chicken) and did not taste as good as it used to. Overall so bummed… I used to love you Siam I am… but now I’m over you.

I ordered the #33 Bean Thread Noodle Salad. While the food wasn’t terrible it was mediocre. The issue I had was the amount of food. The dish was super small. I found myself starving afterwards and didn’t feel like I ate anything at all. I’m not a very big person either and I guess am considered somewhat on the petite end. Yet I was so hungry after I ate #33. The portion is way too small. You aren’t filled up or even satisfied. I guess you have to order several dishes, which is ridiculous. If you’re super hungry, order more than one dish. But, I don’t think it’s worth it. I was glad that there delivery was available at the very least and they came on time. But, I had to go out and get more food elsewhere cause I was still hungry. Sooo disappointing.

Ehhh… flavor was mehhh. Nothing special or memorable about the food here. Something that did leave a bad taste in my mouth was that when I requested extra egg the manager/owner called to let us know they’d charge $ 1 extra PEREGG!!! Really? They want to nickel and dime over a damn egg? It’s not like I asked for extra meat or anything! Will never come back to this place again.

We ordered: ROASTEDDUCKCURRY: this was tasty. The pineapple threw me off. But was still good PADKEEMOW: we ordered online so we had the option of mild, medium, spicy. We said medium. Wow. The spiciness was no joke. Was really spicy. Not a lot of establishments make it this spicy… Now I know. The favor was really good CHICKENBASIL: we made this extra spicy… And it was SPICY! Was very flavorful. I love how they use ground chicken Will order again, but not with the extra spiciness.

Oh my Thai! This is bomb! I thought I was just delirious due to food deprivation but I was normal… normally hungry and the discovery just happened when I was browsing EAT24 app. Let me tell you how good the ROASTEDCURRYDUCKWAS. It is super tasty and we ordered the spicy one. The bits and pieces of roasted duck were melting in my mouth. The best. Next one. The PINEAPPLEFRIEDRICE. It has shrimp, cashew nuts and of course pineapple chunks in yellow curry, so that makes the fried rice yellowish in color, yeah? But it was more of a light brown. Anyway, spicy one made our tongue and lips dilated and red but we managed it by eating more. :) Next. PADSEEYOU. Really? I see you but you can’t see me. The menu was definitely spelled as pad see you. But for Thai food icons, we all know it’s PADSEEEW. Again, we got the spicy one so more mucous membrane burning actually happened. Last one. COCONUTSOUP. So coconutty! I should know because it’s my favorite. The spicy one totally made me gulp more beer. Expected delivery time was 40 – 60 minutes. Food arrived in 20 minutes, so close! Awesome! The delivery guy was nice but we forgot to give a good tip. But I am pretty sure there will be a next time when I feel that unusual feeling of craving again. A great Thai cuisine in RB!

This was quite possibly most disgusting food I’ve ever had. The eggrolls were delivered freezing cold and burnt. The fried cheese wontons were previously frozen and deep-fried, then served with raisins on them for some reason. Both were so bland that not even entire packets of soy sauce gave them any flavor. I ordered off of the lunch menu and ordered orange chicken which came with white rice. There were four pieces of actual chicken and the rest was just deep-fried breading with there a tiny film of orange sauce on the bottom, there was nothing ‘orange chicken’ about a single thing. The four pieces of actual chicken were so dry that I had to stop after two pieces. The white rice was delivered in the same fashion that the eggrolls and wontons, freezing cold and bland. The white rice was even crunchy on the outside like it hadn’t been cooked fully. I couldn’t eat that, the four pieces of lettuce soaked in oil, and I think it’s safe to say that not a single thing I ordered was actually edible. I tried to feed the chicken breading to my dogs and they wouldn’t even eat it, and they eat everything. I will absolutely never be ordering from here again and I cannot recommend that anyone else do the same, it’s just a waste of money for food that tastes like cold cardboard.

This Thai restaurant is not the closest to us. There must be a dozen places closer but Siam I Am has the most authentic flavor and the fairest portions. I love Thai food and have traveled to Bangkok many times, sometimes staying up to a month. I know I now live in the burbs known as the beautiful South Bay but really need a Thai fix every so often. Siam I Am does that for me with the Take Out orders. I order on my phone through Seamless and we pick up in 15 – 20 minutes. We’ve never run into any errors like wrong sauce or no rice. The order is always right, expertly packed and warm when we show up. Our favorites are the papaya salad(spicy is gooood), larb salad(again speecy spicy), pad see you pan fried noodles and the kang kio wan green curry(tho they say spicy, it’s not hot at all). If the restaurant was any bigger or better decorated, we’d bring guests here for dinner.

Small, downhome place… a place which Germans would«gemuetlich», connoting comfortable, pleasant, folksy-homey. There are only about 6 small tables in the front small dining space. So it seems that SIA makes most of its business on take outs. However, this minimalist space is an OK place to eat. Prices for Redondo Beach is exceedingly cheap compared to S.E. Asia influenced Little Sister in Manhattan Beach which compared to SIA costs an arm & a leg for, to me, mediocre Vietnam influence food. So don’t come here expecting chic & vogue, but expect having good food for a pittance. One thing I must say about the food in general at SIA is that the intensity of food flavours are high. It is bold, & not shy about worrying about the nuances of the cuisine. 0) Thai Iced Tea: extra strong brewed reddish brown colored Thai tea that is slightly bitter w/powerful tannins. The sweet condensed milk does counter the bitterness enough to take the edge off, which I rather enjoyed compared to the more mild, wussy Thai teas in other restaurants. Since it is so rich, I asked to have an extra cup of ice so that I could keep adding more ice in to dilute the strong sweet tea. Thai Ice Tea is great in quelling the hot spicy piquancy often associated with Thai cuisine. 1) Vegetarian Fried Egg Rolls: Usually I like egg rolls which have rice paper based wrappers since they fry up to a teeth shattering texture, but I found the wheat based wrappers here were pretty crispy. The inside seems full of chopped cabbage, onions, carrots, bean thread noodles possibly flavoured w/Nampla/fish sauce since there is a certain meaty, salty Umami to the filling. Nice way to start into a meal. 2) Khau Soi Soup is supposedly Burmese influenced from the northern Thai region. The curry soup is almost like a gravy since it is thickened and may have coconut milk for a creamy texture. SIA version uses wheat based egg noodles like fettucine in width. There is chicken breast meat, bean sprouts, red onion, & fried wonton strips. 3) Pad Ka Pao Chicken is minced chicken bits sautéed w/red & green bell pepper slices, green onion stalks, yellow onions, fragrant Thai basil in a black pepper, oyster & nampla based sauce. I found this dish is rather salty so the brown rice that was chewy & nutty became a nice bland foil to the strong flavors of the Pad Ka Pao. This was the point where the sweet Thai Iced Tea came in handy. The co-owner/chef was personable, pleasant, helpful & very responsive in taking our requests. Siam I Am is great in that it won’t break the bank. Ideal for doing take out if living in the neighborhood since there is free delivery within 3 miles & a $ 10 minimum purchase. Redondo Beach is lucky in having such a deal in an area well known for its high rents & high real estate prices. 3++ Unilocal stars.

The good reviews and the resulting business volume must have gone to their head — quality, quantity and customer service went straight to the toilet. I ordered 4 items and asked if I can make some changes. The order taker said that they always do that gladly and will happily accommodate. First, the dumplings. Those were good. No complaints. Next, the Chicken Coconut Soup. When Siam first started, you would get a few little condiment containers with your soup — the chili sauce, the little peppers floating in some vinegary liquid and something else. Putting it all together and adjusting the flavor to my taste was always my favorite part. I asked for the condiments to be included(I asked three times in fact, to make sure). You already know the answer — zero, zilch, nada. No condiments. I also ordered: Pad Kee Mow with Chicken. Spicy flat noodles with bell pepper, onion, and basil leaves. and Eggplant with beef. With spicy sauce, bell pepper, and onion. As you can see, both dishes have the same exact vegetables, which makes the dishes a little redundant, so I asked if they could give me different vegetables with my Pad Kee Mow noodles. Something they use in other recipes, like broccoli or cabbage. Sure, said the order taker. What do you think I got? ZERO vegetables — neither the listed veggies, nor the promised veggies, not even basil — just an oily blob of noodles with a little bit of chicken. Not even spicy as it should be, based on the menu. Eggplant with beef. The dish was very small. Definitely not worth the money. Worse — it had no bell peppers at all, none and no other vegetables; just a tiny bit of onion, very little beef, and again — it wasn’t even spicy. For $ 30 + tip, I barely got enough food for one person. Most importantly, it was bad food and all my requests were ignored, disrespected and screwed up. Just like I feel now — screwed. But not in a good way.
