Our singles group rates this as one of our top locations to include in our monthly calendar. The staff accommodates our happy hour group of 15 – 20 at a special seating near the bar. The HR prices are moderate and the quality is superb. And, they effortlessly give individual checks.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Sketchy location but incredible dining experience! I had the lobster bisque and filet mignon trio. Meat was cooked to a perfect medium and flavors were to die for. Additionally, the atmosphere inside was divine as me and my 7 man bachelor party was serenaded by beautiful piano and harmonica music while we dined.

Went here for lunch. The atmosphere was nice and the wait staff was excellent. The fries were average but the onion rings were out of this world. I hate the barrel steak and it was alright but I would get the filet next time.

This place was great. Don’t be put off by the strip mall location. The food and the service was fantastic. Our waiter Paul was probably one of the most attentive and witty waiters we ever had, came to the table with the different cuts of meat giving us excellent description of what each cut is and just over all sharing great information I never knew about steaks. If you love steak definitely visit this place, was one of our favorite restaurants during our stay in Rehoboth!

Omg! The service was impecable followed by delicous food! From the homemade salad dressing to rolls out of the oven hot, all of our entrees were perfectly cooked. And the Apple tart was light and fresh. We’ll be back for sure. Andrea our server was fabulous… old school service and knowledgable. Cant say enough about our experience.

Took my parents here for anniversary dinner. Don’t let the outside strip mall décor fool you, inside it is very nice. Got that revolutionary décor look. Service was very good and very quick. Waitress was quite knowledgable. They bring out the meat choices for you to review which was nice. We had 6 people and everyone ordered something different. Steak, crab, etc. Overall it was quite good, no disappointments. Only downside was wine list. Very heavy on US wines and prices were a little high compared to other locations in Rehoboth area. But thats my only issue. Overall I would recommend it to anyone and would go again.

I also wanted to love this Resturant the service was attentive enough, but the food was to traditional and it started flying at us so fast we could not enjoy our celebration. After drinks and three flying courses I asked if the food could slow down and our server said sure thing no problem. I wonder if the over cooked trio and the surf and turf sat under heat lamps until he thought we had waited long enough. We got our food and we both noticed the steaks were over cooked and at that point no one was around to ask. After we started our waiter stopped to ask then turned right around and walked away never givingn us a chance to even say a word. Then when we were finished what what we ate he stopped back to ask if we wanted a doggie bag and was everything ok. We said it actually wasn’t He just shrugged and said ok would you like desert or coffee. Oh dear.

Came here for a birthday celebration. First we ordered a bottle of sparkling white wine. They did not have any bottles cold so they gave us 2 free glasses while a bottle chilled which was great. The rolls were hot and served with a regular butter and also a sweet butter with some kind of herbs in it. For appetizers we shared the escargot which the bf loved. He liked it better than me. I don’t love curry and it had a lot of curry. Also a fried shrimp appetizer. Not something I would normally order but they were stuffed with crab and came with red pepper dipping sauce. Fantastic. Bf had the rack of lamb which I did not taste and I had the barrel steak. They both came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Steak was good also. For dessert we shared a piece of coconut banana cream pie. I couldn’t taste any coconut but it was still outstanding. We would go back for another special occasion. Our bill was 125.00 before tip but we did have a lot of food. I am going to try happy hour next.

I really wanted to love 1776, but it just didn’t hit the spot the way that I wanted it to. The biggest reason that I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 was because our waitress, Acey(I know I spelled that wrong), was the best waitress I’ve ever had. She was very attentive, answered all of our questions, was hilariously funny, and took care of everyone at that table by herself. Truly the best service I’ve ever had! A large group of us(14) went to 1776 as part of a bachelorette weekend at the Delaware Beaches. We were a bit surprised that a steakhouse would be in the middle of a strip mall, but whatever! Because we were a large party, the restaurant had a special room reserved for us in the back, which was awesome. Everyone knows a group of girls can get pretty loud, so luckily our room had a set of doors to give us more privacy(and so that other patrons could enjoy their meals in peace). Within minutes, Acey came in to welcome us and take our drink orders. She was back in a flash with our drinks and to bring in a plate to show us the various cuts of meat available. For my appetizer, I decided on the crab and lobster bisque. While the delicious chunks of fish were plentiful, the soup was a touch on the sweet side for me and tasted like it was missing something. For my entrée, I decided on the surf & turf selecting a crab cake for the«surf.» The petite filet was absolutely delicious. It was tender and cooked to a perfect rare — I could have sliced thru it with a butter knife. The crab cake, on the other hand, was not very good. The description of the crab cakes on the menu is that they were broiled but when I put my fork in, it looked like it was fried rather than broiled. The crispy, hard shell really took away from the whole experience. I ended up digging out all of the«good» stuff from the middle(I use the word«good» here lightly), which made it a little bit better, but definitely not what I expected from a steakhouse in a beach town. The accompaniments were mashed potatoes and some sort of green — not worth writing home about. Both were pretty bland with veggie being overcooked. I could have made it better in my kitchen. All-in-all, while our experience was awesome, the food was not. For the price, I was definitely expecting more from this little steakhouse. Unfortunately, it would not be my first or second choice for dinner if I was in the area.

The restaurant is in a mall next to a movie theatre, so we were a little skeptical. Once inside, the ambience was very good. It was a Sunday evening and they did not have the prime rib that I was looking for that day. I did get the Delmonico Steak which was very good and prepared perfectly. It was also $ 35. My wife does not eat much steak and ordered the chicken picata which she enjoyed. The wait staff was very attentive and refilled the water glasses, refilled the wine glasses, etc.

Surprised, from outter appearance to the interior was impressing! Made reservation, we were treated promptly, sat promptly, and met by our sever with a smile, Andrea was witty yet professional, if she didn’t know the answer to our question, she found someone who did? Selection was great, food awesome, service outstanding! My recommendation is the prime rib, when they say 22oz’s of meat that’s what you get! Our group tried everything from beef to pork and fish! We were all very contempt! Thank you so much!

I have to agree with the other reviewers that if you’re not a «regular» you’ll feel a little out of place — especially at the bar. The bartender was a strange dude. Did not make us feel welcome at all. That being said, once we were seated, they could not have been nicer or more welcoming. We all had steaks and they were perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. The onion rings were an unexpected delight. Decent wine selection at reasonable prices. We’ll go back if we’re in the mood for a steak while at the beach.

We have gone to 1776 a number of times over the years and the food had been great. Our last visit the service and quality seemed to be suffering. Both my husband and I thought this was the last time. Too expensive for the beach to be have lacking quality and food. My steak was not cooked as ordered(over done) but they didn’t take it back. Inconsistency in the wait staff.

My wife and I dined at 1776 May 1,2013. Food was out of this world. This was the second time I’ve been there. Chef Tammy who I and my wife have followed her to different places for years is doing wonders with her dishes. I’ve had steak dishes both times there, if there’s better steak on the beach please show me. Just all around fine food.

I have had several dinners at this location, both with the new and old owners. I have only received a bad steak one time. The steaks are generally quite tender and flavorful. The dry aged meat is certainly the way to go. The side dishes are also quite good as well. The mussel appetizer was delicious. The prices are a bit high, but the steaks are worth it.

I’ve been to this restaurant a number of times, and the first time, I was very skeptical. It was as some of the reviewers stated. It took a while before getting served. They did seem a little hesitant with me, as if I did not belong. That will kill them in the long run, if they want to be successful. That said… the food was phenomenal… very difficult to find a better steak. They serve up «dry aged» steak as well as regular steak. I’m not sure I’ve had a juicier and more flavorful steak that this. Also, they have a Crab bisque with lump crab meat. I hope they haven’t changed that. :) They are pricey, specially for the dry aged meat. I’d recommend the food, but there is a challenge with the people side. Get that straight 1776, as your food is hoppin’.

1776 was not only the year of the Declaration of Independence; it was also the location for a very awkward encounter. We went to grab a drink since we had 40 min to kill before seeing 21 Jumpstreet in the shopping center movie theater. However, from the minute we walked in, we felt extremely awkward. The bar was packed with 40−45+ year old regular bar patrons that stared us down like we were three-headed aliens from another planet. The bartender also ignored us, and kept speaking to restaurant patrons that seemed to be friends or regular customers. Unless you are having a middle-age crisis or like to frequent places that don’t serve you unless you’re a regular, I don’t recommend coming here.
