An hidden gem. Wonderful food featuring exciting entrees and sides. Deliciously unique flavors presented in exquisite beef and seafood dishes. The surf and turf was tender and perfect; the rockfish is a new favorite. A surprising smash hit was the meatloaf(not your mother’s meatloaf). We already have recommended Shorebreak Lodge to friends. Good wine selection and desserts to please anyone

We found this restaurant on Unilocal and it did not disappoint. The décor is unique and our waitress was attentive. My wife had the surf and turf. The short ribs had good flavor and were a decent size(two). The scallops were prepared perfectly. The two scallops were each a good size, but one or more would have been nice. I had the bison meatloaf. You can tell the chef takes pride in his craft. The kimchee in the potatoes was a nice and unique touch. We’ll definitely be back and recommend to others.

Loved all the food. We ordered the appetizer size of several dishes and each one was unique. The scallops are by far the best. The ceviche was very spicy and yummy(very hot green peppers)! Great anniversary dinner :)

While road tripping through DE during off season(early Oct) we came to the Shorebreak Lodge for dinner and were very impressed. Service, food options, food quality and presentation and ambiance were all excellent. Our server was friendly and relaxed(but not at the expense of providing outstanding service) and very knowledgeable about the menu. The menu itself is grouped differently to most menus I’ve come across — according to food types(hunt, fish, gather) rather than appetizers/entrees and has some different flavor combinations that look interesting.(I wish we lived nearer so we could try more of the menu, which the server said was seasonal.) Food portions were generous, but not excessive. We(2 adults) shared a cheese plate to start(3 cheeses, fruit, tepanade, 2 mustards, picked onion, fennel jam, honey), two entrees/mains(surf’n’turf — beef rib with scallops, and crab cakes with squash hash) and a slice of apple, walnut and cranberry cheesecake and were well full by the end. Food quality itself was great — fresh and flavorsome. On the whole, a great dining experience — even in off season, which speaks highly of this establishment.

Excellent! We had the tuna — divine, the fluke — amazing. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was unique and inviting. We also had the key lime pie which was mouth watering. This establishment is top notch. Definitely stop by and grab some good eats. This is now 1 of our new favorite places to mange.

Ordered: Pâté, Mussels, Grilled Octopus and Chili Wings Drinks: Ginger Marguerita and Caipirinha The food was good Drinks were not quite so Service was lacking There were 2 of us and ordered all of the above food items to share at the same time. Everything came out quickly more or less at the same time EXCEPT for the pâté Had to flag down server for the pâté after we finished the hot items. Either he did not enter as ordered or forgot somehow. It took an additional little while longer for the pâté to arrive. Grilled bread and crackers were insufficient for the generous amount of pâté given. We had to flag down yet again to request additional grilled bread, as we pointed to the pâté with ¾ remaining-we wait(yet again) an additional while longer and received 1 small slice, this time however(remember initial slice with plate and we also got a slice with the mussels) it was slathered in butter and dripping greasy. Definitely sticking with wine or beer next time: Ginger Marguerita had a very, very almost undetectable faint taste of ginger and the Caipirinha I’ve had much better. This one rates amongst the lowest I’ve ever experienced. No real detection of sugar muddled with the limes made it quite tart and did not taste quite like a classic caipirinha — did they really use cachaça? We travel with some regularity to Rehoboth Beach and only consider 3 restaurants(this one included) to have some creditable enough food to have patronized and will continue to do so. I wish the service here matched the food, then it could easily be a solid 4. I know, I know — beach resort area

First of all, we happened upon the place and were reading the menu outside when TWO separate people walked by and said that this is the best place to eat in rehobeth. It really was amazing. The only negative would be the hostess who seemed to be in a bad mood and had a rude attitude when we said we didnt have reservations. We sat down and had drinks. I had the berry mojito and i swear it was one of the best drinks ive had in a long time. Fresh mint and blueberries inside. We ordered the shortrib and scallop surf and turf, the shrimp and chorizo shrimp and grits, and the octopus. The shortrib was tender and the scallops cooked perfectly. The shrimp and grits although it didnt have large pieces of chorizo, it was cooked with it and we could see very small bits, was also very good. Lastly my octopus was also cooked to perfection. The salad it was put with was perfectly paired with it. We all said it was the beat meal of the trip. Good job shorebreak. I recommend to anyone.

Fast! The food was out before we knew it. I’m not used to food of that quality being prepared that fast. The staff is also really friendly and helpful, ie Janice our waitress went and got us some of the sauce from the BBQ Porkbelly so my son had something to dunk his chicken fingers into. Yes the food is the best I’ve had in Rehoboth Beach. I had the BBQ Porkbelly, it was awesome, so are the mussels. …and the corn on the cob!

Ordered Apps: eggplant dip, olives, and fancy fries. All were very tasty. Entrée: surf and turf, Mussels, and Shrimp & grits. Everything was presented well. Food tasted great. Only complaint is in my wife’s grits they left a bay leaf or some other large piece of herb that got stuck in her throat. I won’t go into the details, but needless to say, after she went to the bathroom to remove it, her appetite was gone. We were both disappointed with the apparent blasé attitude of the waitress and no visit from manager. I don’t think that is to much to ask for when you almost die in the restaurant. Food was fantastic though. Better customer service for this issue would have given 5 stars.

This is the best tasting Happy Hour food in Rehoboth Beach thanks to their chefs! This summer we went twice in our one week vacation because of this fact. Gluten-free customers need not worry much here — GF friendly.

We had: swordfish, surf and turf and seared tuna. Everything was perfect. The hostess was kinda out of it, but the servers were awesome.

This restaurant was clean and comfortable. The food had an attractive presentation. The menu was diverse and yet it was hard to find something we liked. The server was friendly at first but seemed annoyed that we were having a hard time with the menu. We felt awkward because we were already seated with drinks, so we ordered $ 60 worth of appetizers instead of dinner. We would not return to this restaurant, but only because it was not our style. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant for kids.

Never knew it was there until I saw the reviews and can’t believe I have been missing this place. More creative menu then the popular places on the same street and even better they take reservations. Could have easily ordered 10 different things on the menu so something for everyone. Had octopus appetizer which was decent though not as good as other reviews on it. We also had the Brussels sprouts which were fantastic. For entrees the surf and turf scallops and braised short ribs were excellent. The pork belly entrée was amazing. I am somewhat of a pork belly geek and have probably had in 10 different restaurants and this was far and away the best I have ever had. It was cooked to absolute perfect texture which is make or break for pork belly. We also had succotash side which was excellent. For dessert chocolate bomb and chocolate pecan pie which were both delicious. We will definitely be back as soon as next week when back in town.

I’ve been going to Rehoboth every year for 12 plus years. This year I was invited to a dinner at the Shorebreak Lodge. I’m giving this place a 5 star! Food and atmosphere is awesome. I highly recommend it. Environment is casual, and the food is outstanding. Very light menu, but all the choices taste great. I recommend the surf and turf(scallops and Brisket over risotto). YUM!

This is a long overdue review! We have been several times now and Shorebreak Lodge has never disappointed! Whether you are looking for a quick bite with happy hour or a full on dinner, there is something on the menu for everyone. I’ll start with happy hour: the choices are familiar, but often with a twist. The Mussels and house made chips w/pimento cheese are a couple of my faves. They usually have a couple of wines and cocktails featured as well. The bar area is open and can be very bright with the blue /white interior and a front wall that is all windows. We have tried many of the dishes. They use seasonal/fresh ingredients so the menu changes regularly. My husband is partial to their version of «surf and turf»: scallops and short ribs over risotto. All components have always been perfectly cooked! The size and sweetness of the scallops has never disappointed and the short ribs are so tender they just fall apart. I have tried several different entrees and all have been good. But my favorite remains what I called«grown-up» bacon and eggs: pork belly with an over easy egg. Very simple, but well seasoned and executed. I will add that the amberjack I had last night was amazing and the portion size was very generous. I have been known to sub whatever side comes with a dish for Brussels Sprouts if possible, they are delish! Their desserts are great as well! The turtle cheesecake we had last night wasn’t too heavily or overly sweet and a perfect way to top off another great dinner. I recently said that Shorebreak is my favorite restaurant at the beach these days and this review contains many of the reasons why. Full disclosure, I have known one of the owners for a long time, and know one of the others from our visits in there. They work hard to provide a great environment and food to complement it. Well done guys!

Based on a groupon and never having been, we came to celebrate our yeariversary with friends. The service from John was perfect– fun, informative and honest. Our friends enjoyed the seafood and ribs, and a perfectly cooked burger. We, the vegans, enjoyed a medley of «sides» and salads that made for a great meal and sharing. The atmosphere is funky, beach eclectic with comfy seats and room to be a group without feeling like people were sitting on top of us. A welcome change from a lot of Rehoboth restaurants. We’ll be back!

This dinner here for our anniversary was one of the most memorable and greatest dinners we had during our stay in Rehoboth. Thanks to Unilocal,we only had to walk down the block from our hotel, and walk right in without reservations. We sat by the window in the corner, in leather white wrap around mini sofa chairs. They were extremely comfy and yet a little unusual for seating in a restaurant; it added to the modern décor of the place. The menu was small, but all the offerings were very tempting. I got the pan seared scallops over amazing corn and wild mushrooms, and my love got the surf and turf. I was pleasantly surprised at how large the scallops were, and the presentation was 5 stars Manhattan style; I made sure to tell the owner that. If there was more scallops on my plate, I wouldn’t have hesitated in cleaning the plate off, but it was perfect with the four. Such simple ingredients that let the scallops shine; really little to no chewing involved. The filet mignon was cooked excellent, and again, a happy marriage of seafood and meat was established. Might not look like much from the outside, but you MUST try this place; you can think up a good excuse one night — and leave the kids HOME!
