What an amazing experience– fantastic service, great food, and an incredible ambiance. The bakery is beautiful. Will certainly be back for more!

I remember coming here with my grandpa to get fresh bread, I probably hadnt been in here in over 10 years maybe 15 years. Nothing has changed it still looks exactly the same, I remember when I was a kid they used to have a talking parrot but that was a long time ago. Anyways the lady who works Saturday mornings is very friendly, and I really only come here for one reason they have these half choclate half sugar coated eat shaped things, I don’t know what they are called but trust me you will love them. If you do go looking for these things im talking about make sure you come early because they go quick and I mean by noon they will be probably all gone.

40 year-old dust everywhere. Dripping ceiling. Filthy highchair. Strange service and attitudes from staff. Flat beer. Canned au jus. Ho-hum food. Scary, unlit corners in the main dining room. Once is enough. Will not be back.

I went here for lunch with a friend of mine, and honestly was a little wary. The reviews I kept getting from people were mixed, more leaning towards them not liking it. I have to tell you… I’m SO glad I didn’t listen to those negative reviews! Yes, the place is outdated… it reminded me of home in the Santa Cruz mountains! There’s a great little German place out there, and it’s the exact same vibe. Old world, out of date, cheesy fake plants, dark, over sized wood accents… and I love it! The waitress we had was GREAT! I went in wanting 3 things. I wanted Schnitzel, Spaetzle and Rotkohl(red cabbage). The menu had a lot of really good looking things, but no plates with all 3 of these things on it. When I sheepishly asked the waitress about it, she was so nice! She told me I could order anything on the menu I wanted and they would make it happen. MAN am I so glad I asked! The food was DELICIOUS, the service was stellar, and as cheesy as it was, I liked the ambiance. After lunch, we went into the bakery… and went to Heaven on Earth! The pastries, just WOW! I walked out with 2 Rum-balls(must share the yumminess with my son when I get home!) and 2 Cannoli. They were really good! There was so much to see, so many imported goods as well… I could have stayed and browsed longer, but I didn’t want to keep my friend waiting while I food-nerded out! LOL The ONLY issue I had, was that I really wanted to get some meats and cheeses from the deli counter, and even though there were guys working it, they kept glancing over at me but not one of them offered to help. After standing there for about 5 minutes(there was no one else waiting to be helped), I finally gave up and went to pay for my bakery goods. I told the Cashier that I would have loved to have tried the deli goods too(to which she smiled and said«ok», maybe next time.

The Hubby and I came here for dinner last Saturday and I have to admit I was a little hesitant to try this place out because of all the bad reviews for the service. That being said, I am SO glad we went. Bavarian World has made it on our regular rotation for date nights! Yay! Let’s address the service first… Like I said, I was a little hesitant trying this place. All the negative reviews were about the service and not really the food. When we first entered the restaurant there was no one at the hostess stand we decided to pop our heads in a little further in the restaurant and was startled the resounding sound of a motion sensor and let me tell you that got annoying quick as there were a few kids running back and forth between the bakery side and the restaurant. After a few minutes of just standing there I was beginning to believe all the reviews I had read. Just as we were about to turn around and head for sushi, a sweet ol’ lady finally acknowledged us. She had the cutest German accent and I can only describe our interaction with her as being greeted by grandma! Once we were seated service took a definite turn for the better. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the sauerbraten and hubby had the veal sausage. My sauerbraten was spectacularly tender with just the perfect amount of tartness and richness. The dish comes spetzel and OMGREDCABBAGE! Let me just say I could probably make meal just out of their red cabbage alone. Hubby had spetzel and sauerkraut. I was kinda surprised that his meal only had one link of sausage(based on the other Unilocal pictures I thought a serving was 2 links) and I didn’t think it would be enough food, but boy oh boy was that bratwurst filling and delicious! We did save room for dessert, after all the place is also a bakery… I got the apple strudel and hubby got the napoleon(puff pastry layered with cream). We actually ended up switching since I also got a coffee and the strudel seemed to clash with it Needless to say their desserts are AMAZING! I think next time we’ll come in the day to get more of their pastries! another thing to note: On Saturdays they have live music so there is a $ 5 cover charge. At first I was a little peeved at this because there was only one musician playing the accordion, but it was well worth it in the end. He musician added a lot to the atmosphere and he was very talented.

I’ve been here twice, and both times it was to buy the pre-package foreign chocolate. The gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and willing to help out. I can’t speak for their restaurant portion, or for their baked goods. I’ll definitely be going back and trying their baked goods, one of my coworkers got eclairs from there and just raved about them!

Stopped in on wed 1:30. Ordered snitzel, it was ok. The red cabbage tasted like it was from a can. Service sucked, one girl, 4 people, she never checked with us, even tried to wave her down, no luck. Group of 8 checked in and she quietly told them go around corner, and that she put menus down on table. They stood there looking lost until i reprated to them what she said. Too big of hurry to walk guests to there table. Bad service. Wont ever go back, except for deli, which was excellent service!

I only come here for the deli to get my head cheese, speck, pâté, hams, flax bread, and some good mustard. Pastries are good too. Excellent deli, but try to avoid the dining hall because food service will take a lot of time.

The food is authentic but only a 6 on a scale to 10. However, the owners are clearly Nazis. I am from Germany and he talked to me and my friends about the Holocaust-«lie» and that«6 million dead Jews» were made up by Americans so they can justify for their«own crimes in Iraq» and such. He confessed that he despised Americans and I guess he’s just here because he would end up in jail for denying the Holocaust in Germany. If you care about German cuisine, google it and DIY. But try to avoid Bavarian World. He is not representing what the German society looks like today and I am deeply ashamed.

We used this establishment for many of our functions, food is ok, service ok… if it wasn’t for Klaus we were long gone but this last time was the worst experience we ever had in any restaurant! place was empty, 2 tables with a couple at each, we had over 25 ppl in our group, kids were dancing and playing on the empty dance floor like they always do when we go there and had an adult with them. at that point, the waitress(older chubby lady) came all upset to my wife shouting at her that«this is not a park or a zoo», my wife who was looking over the kids(only one was ours.), shocked from the waitress behavior, said, if you are not kid friendly, you should make it public and we will just leave… the waitress shouts, «you should leave», we grabbed ours, friends grabbed theirs and we left… mind you we are all professional and educated adults who keep our kids civil. the behavior of that waitress was horrible! I went and looked for Klaus in the deli yet he was out, explained the situation to the shocked deli lady and asked to be contacted by Klaus, this happened last Sunday and as of Thursday night I heard nothing back, more than that, the remaining group were charged a cover charge that was not disclosed to us in advance… BADBUSINESS!

I just found you Bavarian World and you had me with your pastries but then you gave me sandwiches on pretzel bread, fresh cut deli meats and I can even buy sauerkraut. It’s true I’m in love

Just because of where I grew up, sometimes, I just crave German things. Not just the food, but the atmosphere and everything. And this place absolutely delivered on that. The store front alone was so beautiful it’s worth mentioning, it was all wooden with flower beds and a small garden table out front. The inside had the same affect, with a little stereo playing polka music which made me personally incredibly happy. I had come that morning for pastries, and they had a very wide selection. Unfortunately most of the pastries weren’t labeled or priced, but the lady behind the counter was very willing to describe what each pastry was and how much it cost.(I would take off a half star if I could for the prices not being displayed, but its certainly not worth reducing the rating to four-stars over) I decided to get a croissant stuffed with blueberries and cream cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. The croissant was buttery and flaky and the filling was the perfect amount of sweetness. It was filling enough for someone like myself who usually eats a small breakfast, but it would be a delicious addition to a large breakfast too. Visiting this bakery absolutely made my day just a little bit better.

Arguably the best bakery in Reno. They have a vast selection of German pastries, and sweets to choose from. I literally ordered $ 38 worth of stuff in one trip, most of it just sinful sweets to share with the ones I love. They even have cannoli. While I was at it with the sweets, I bought a delicious sandwich from under the glass, some deviled eggs, and a beer. Perfect. The service is always friendly, and for some reason it feels like you’re in Germany, in the 70’s or something in there. I love it! Open Tuesday thru Saturday 8:00AM to 8:30PM

Dagmar made our whole experience! She is a kind waitress who is passionate about her culture and loves to educate guests about the menu. She has the German touch that reminded me of my German grandmother. Stern with a smile. The food is authentic and true and might I add, delicious! I had the jaeger schnitzel with braised cabbage and potato pancakes. The food not only tasted home cooked, it was home cooked. Many times, food becomes commercialized and you can taste the abundance of salt and fillers. Not here, it was like eating at home at the kitchen table. Do yourself a favor and check out Bavarian World. They also have an entire bakery counter and a grocery store. The baked goods are just as delicious as the food! It’s a must stop when in Reno!

Only place in Reno for German food. We went to try things out in preparation for hosting our own Oktoberfest party. Great selection of German beers on tap. Waitress was fantastic and managed to serve several tables quickly and in an organized manner despite being the only waitress there. Décor is out dated(they have been at this location for 40 years) but was interesting at least. We had the sausage sampler and they made a smaller portion for 2 even though the menu only offers a larger platter recommended for 4. After dinner we went to their bakery adjacent to the restaurant and picked up some pretzels and desserts which were nice and also inexpensive.

Second day in a row for pretzels and almond horns, Picked some up for my visiting family. All said best almond horns they have ever had. Pretzels were eaten up fast. Go see the ladies in the bakery! They will brighten your morning more than the sun :)

The atmosphere alone is worth a look. You feel like you are in Europe. Coffee is perfectly brewed, smooth strong and delicious. Your cup is never empty. The rolls are golden brown; crisp on the outside and soft on the inside just like I like them. The music is appropriate; German folk tunes and mellow orchestral pieces at a conversational volume level. There is a large dance floor complete with a mirror ball. Now for the food. The omelette was full of yummy ham and mushrooms. The home fries were crisp on one side and perfectly seasoned. The bacon and sausage were delicious and perfectly cooked. The best surprise was the yummy apple pancake. My new go to for breakfast. So good. Can’t wait to see what lunch and dinner are like.

This bakery/restaurant is an authentic trip to Germany. The hostesses are dressed in German dresses with Bavarian lace adorning each hem of the apron. They are energetic, friendly and knowledgeable about German cuisine and the history of many products. My first experience was an apple fritter with a fresh slice of apple dredged in batter, deep fried and served with powdered sugar. The next experience was a delightful shock to my palate. I had an Aachener chocolate domino which was filled apricot and apples on a tiny cookie. It was so fragrant that the Nutella filled Hammentasch seemed floral as well. The final taste experience was a creamy authentic Havarti thinly sliced to compliment a perfectly baked pretzel roll. You couldn’t ask for a better introduction to Bavarian cuisine.

First time i’ve visited Bavarian World. Went here for lunch and ordered the knacks wurst and Sauerbraten The knacks taste was good, the sauerkraut, potato and the big wurst were good. And the Sauerbraten was over cooked and dry. Spaetzel was great, red cabbage was kinda blend. Bought some snack that i couldn’t find in any other place in town, and give a black forrest a try but for me personally, the taste wasn’t that great, the texture of the cake was too dry, but the cookies looks very fresh & yummy on their display. The atmosphere is kinda look dark, quiet, and dative. Restaurant only has one menu(means there is no lunch or dinner menhu) Bakery display looking good and full of authentic germany stuff such as kinder bueno chocolate, a lot of ham, sausages, etc
