Okay, my first review was in my early Unilocaling days and I know it did no justice for this place, although as you can see from the other Unilocal reviews, this place has it’s fanbase. I’m just another fan dropping a review or…“revamped” review in my case, and just letting the Unilocaldom know… The quality of the food you get here for the price is «Asinine» some would even say«Bananas» but all in the best of ways. Here we go. The Top Deck Restaurant is home to the $ 4.99 Steak and Eggs for Breakfast, $ 4.99 Steak and Fries for Dinner and the ever popular…(drumroll now) $ 5.99 Prime Rib dinner! And I know some may be apprehensive to trying steak and prime rib dinners for such a low cost. But let me tell you, you would be shocked at the quality and the deliciousness that you get from here. And did I mention the cost! They have other menu items here as well as to not just highlight what they seem to already have on their building(the steaks) the menu items range from. Chicken Dinners, Salads, Burritos, Pastas, Sandwiches, Soups, Burgers ect. This place has your general«Diner» style motif going on here. The service here is decent, it could vary depending on who you get, some of the waiters and waitresses seem like they get annoyed very easy. But I say«suck it up» with some of the best prices around you know you’re going to get a lot of business. I usually leave my tips according to my service. I usually visit at least twice a day on my stays in Reno so I guess they get okay tips from me. The Prime Rib dinner honestly is the only thing I’ve ordered from here. Compared to big chain restaurants and my fav Prime Rib spot here in Nor Cal Mac’s Ol House. This place holds its ground as a solid steakhouse. When you get the Prime Rib dinner it comes with the soup of the day which usually varies between. Split Pea Clam Chowder Chicken Noodle You could have French Fries or Mashed Potatos for your side or even mixed veggies if you want to lay easy on the carbs. In closing, «All hands on Deck» all in the front, all in the back just like that! This is a place you«Must» visit when you are out here in Reno. I always end up meeting cool people in here and overall just enjoying the food here. This place is the true star of the Club Cal Neva, and I don’t see this place losing it’s shine anytime soon. As always, Unilocal your own opinion and don’t forget to take a picture of your plate!

This place is terrific and impossibly cheap! But do NOT think though for one minute that the food is not up to snuff! Our meal was absolutely fabulous! Fom start to finish our dinner and service throughout was impeccable! Service was lively, flavors delicious and price was incomparable. We could not believe that this little place was not packed on a Saturday night. Management should know what an awesome experience we had there that night!!!

My husband and I were there during Street Vibrations. We were actually staying at the Harrah’s. They had given us coupons to use during our stay which was Fri-Sat. Yet the coupons were only good for Sun-Thur. So, in search of dinner we ended up here after going several places and being told there were hour + wait times. The hostess asked how many, I told her it was only the 2 of us. She went and spoke to the waitress, and returned and seated us immediately. We got our drinks right away. Our waitress came and took our order right away. My appetizer came quickyly, however our bread took forever to make it to the table, which she apologized for(bus boy supposed to bring it). We both order chicken parmesan, it did take a while to arrive, but once it did it was well worth the wait. It was delicious! The only reason I am not giving 5 star is due to the delay in the bread making it to our table and the delay in the food coming quickly. Otherwise I would have given 5 star. The hostess and waitress were great! Our bill came to $ 30.82! Also, the restaurant was playing Tom Jones and Frank Sinatra in the background, had Italian theme and dim lighting. Nice ambiance.

Ate at the pasta and steakhouse upstairs. Well, attempted to eat… Arrived at 730 pm and seated at 8. Didn’t get waited on until 815. Ordered the new your steak(it said it was the juiciest d best steak). The waitress even said they were really good. It came out looking like it had freezer burn on it and it tasted horrific. Told the waitress and she took it off the bill. Never going back. Those bread sticks were pretty good though.

Awesome price. Steak and eggs for $ 4.99. It was delicious. The steak was just perfect size. My daughter got the chicken and waffles and my normally picky eater ate like a champion!

Located upstairs at the Steak & Pasta House. Great food were you will have money left in your wallet to still gamble. A must is the stuff Portobello Mushroom, Minestrone Soup were outstanding. The lasagna, and salad and bread sticks were good. The steak was OK. The lobster bisgue was missing something. Can’t wait to go back and try some other dishes.

I dine at Steak & Pasta House the weekend of 2/28-My birthday trip My cousin suggested we eat at Cal Neva. I’ve never been to Reno so we all were in agreement. Let me first say: THEPRICESAREUNBELIEVABLYLOW. My God! it has to be a crime lol. The bread that you get while you wait for your food– SODAMNGOOD. Better than Olive Garden’s bread sticks. Hands down! I am dreaming of that bread nearly a month later. I ordered: Lobster, Stuffed mushrooms and my meal came with salad, potato(loaded) and something else. I don’t remember because I couldn’t get pass the mushrooms, TWO lobsters and Bread. 6 people dining. The bill was maybe $ 80 at the most. I can’t wait to visit Reno for Hot August so I can eat here again.

The listing should be updated to The Steak and Pasta House. Very good dishes, great value, has an old school italian feel. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Old school Reno deliciousness! How can you beat a $ 5.998oz. Prime rib with fries and soup?!! The prime rib was tender and tasty, the fries crisp and hot, and it was served efficiently and correctly by an accommodating Joseph.

I have plenty of good and expensive prime ribs steaks and it wouldn’t be fair to compare this apple to apple. For a prime ribs priced at $ 5.99, it is surprisingly good! This is how much we usually pay for a kid’s meal at a regular restaurant. This is our first visit and very happy with it. We came on saturday night around 6:30pm and it was 10−15min wait. After we were seated the line grew to 20−25min wait so it’s full house for the whole 1.5 hr dinner service. Seems to be understaff during a busy dinner service but staff were friendly.

So, it’s New Year’s Day and what’s better than $ 5.99 prime ribs at Cal Neva right… Wrong, in fact, SOWRONG! There were 6 of us(2 adults 2 teens and 2 kids). We walked in and we’re seated in about 30 mins(there was a long line). OK, no problem — so far so good and we’re seated. Well it’s pretty much HELL from this point on!!! About 20 mins after being seated… there were absolutely NOONE who stopped by our booth. We watched waiters and waitresses walk by and diners walked in and out being served… *** still crickets *** mmm… this is strange… Finally, we flagged down a waiter/manager«John» and told him that we’d like to order some food… and then out came the flood gate he said(in a loud and mean tone of voice)… and I quote«YOUGUYSWERENOTSUPPOSEDTOBESEATEDATTHISTABLE. YOUSETAEDYOURSELVES and THEREISNOONRATTENDINGTHISTABLE. You guys will have to wait a long long time» WTF? We were so appalled that my jaw literally dropped on the floor! Yelling at the customer — on New Year’s Day — at YOUR bad service? Well Happy New Year to you too!!! Then I told him«what are you talking about? The black gentleman, aka YOURSTAFF, seated us here in this booth about 20 minutes ago!» Still not believing us — John huffed and puffed and insisted that we have seated ourselves and maintained«there’s no one attending this area so there will be a long long wait».(really? literally the booth NEXTTOME «in the same area» is being served) At this point, 2 sets of other diners(who appeared to be regulars) chimed in to defend us. They told John that we have been waiting patiently and that the waiter(didn’t catch name) has indeed seated us. It was at this point that John finally reluctantly agreed to have someone serve us… well hallelujah!!! We would have left but were starving at this point — so thought to ourselves just stick it out — eat, run and never return. Finally this older lady(super nice by the way) stopped by to take our orders, served us food.(what a journey to get a meal!!!). Upon leaving the restaurant, we met John again. There was no apology for THEIRMIXUPWHATSOEVER. In fact. I asked him«do you believe us now?»(pointing to the diners who backed up our claim that it was THEIR mistake). John mumbled something under his breath and didn’t even apologize or thanked us for dining there. I did not blow my gasket as I should have as(1) it’s NY Day and(2) I didn’t want to do that with kids around. I still couldn’t believe how I was treated!!! I was so humiliated!!! I’m never one to believe that customers are always right but no customers should EVER be treated like this. This is unacceptable!!! Needless to say — WEWILLNOTBEBACK. 1-star is for the pretty good food and great value. The kitchen /cooks are doing a great job.

Yeah, I know what most people are thinking, fine dining at Club Cal Neva? Home of the $ 4.99 steak and eggs? Yeah, when I first came to Reno and didn’t have much money, I went to Cal Neva, but their new steakhouse is a nice little hidden gem. I like tapas style restaurants where you can get a whole variety of foods, kind of like sushi. This place has a large appetizer menu including seafood stuffed mushroom, scallops, even escargot! They also offer small portions of steak, a 6.0 ounce filet for about $ 11, so you can mix and match. They have a cool pasta menu where can literally mix and match pastas and sauces. Mushroom sauce with mushroom ravioli or pesto sauce with cheese ravioli or linguine. Every Italian restaurant should be mix and match. No, this is not a cool, trendy, upscale indie restaurant with handmade food, but I would call it a value restaurant with quality seafood and steaks. There is very little competition in this category in Reno. Gold’n’Silver has great daily seafood specials for $ 11, but service is spotty and so is the food quality. Sure you can get $ 24 seafood at Rapscallions but I challenge you to compare the lobster bisque sauce at Rapscallions with this place. BTW the lobster bisque is a soup here and I just use it as a dipping sauce. It’s all about food snobbery these days, but if you want a simple, economical, quality seafood or steak experience, this is a great place.
