Let me start by saying that the food was delicious, but not worth the price. A potato was $ 5 extra, even though they charged me $ 38 for the steak. Also, the starter salad was $ 12, no kidding. I got my steak with blue cheese because they had different ways to have the steak cooked… but then they charged me $ 8 extra for the blue cheese and didn’t mention that on the menu. The ambiance was like something out of a sixties movie, not current. They don’t have a menu for drinks. So, you want a martini, you better know just what kind you want, and they won’t be warning you of the price. We each had a steak, shared 3 drinks between the two of us, shared a salad, shared a potato and ended up with a $ 130 bill. Then there was tip and taxes, totaling $ 157. It hurts. I will never go back.

We were a party of 6. The 2nd table in our area of the resturant. We waited an hour and a half for our food. When the food came out 5 of the 6 steaks were not cooked they way they were ordered. Two of them were so tough they couldn’t even eay them. The fries were very hard as it seemed they had been sitting a while. Our waitress came around only about every 20 mins. The person who brought us oir food said they were pretty busy and sorry for the wait. Over half the tables were emptying

Thank goodness for reservations! This place was sold out and they weren’t accepting any walk ins! My group of 4 had dinner here on a Saturday night and it was definitely a great experience. First thing first: FOOD. Complimentary variety bread basket: stay away from it! We were all hungry and dug into it… There were sour dough, Dutch crunch, and thin cracker-like pita. Creamy onion French soup: 5/5, definitely a must get. A bit heavy but really really good! Table side Caesar salad: 3/5, it was a nice presentation but I found it to be a bit too tangy. I did like the croutons though. Bone in ribeye: 5/5, cooked to perfection. Huge, hence… Stay away from the bread basket. Half rack lamb: 5/5, 4 pieces of lamb. The BF enjoyed it… Again, stay away from the bread basket. Sea bass: 5/5, a good size. Melt in your mouth. Good lighter choice. Sides don’t come with your meal. So the side dishes we got: pasta w/3 cheese. Good. Potato au gratin. Very good. Plus, we added foie gras. They liked it, not my fav. It was a good experience. The service was amazing. And they even bring you sorbet with champagne to cleanse your palate before bringing the main entrees. Then after dinner, you get chocolates served over dry ice! Great presentation! All in all, definitely recommended! :)

Excellent! Pricey, yes, but worth it. It’s not just a meal but an experience. Great place for a romantic dinner. Service is beyond great.

Updated Review: Saturday, April 30th, 7:45pm 2 adults for dinner EVERYTHING: 5STARS!!! After a less than stellar visit to Hank’s Steakhouse in Henderson, NV; I was glad to come back to Harrah’s! My chief complaint with Hank’s was, when we ordered a $ 5812 oz steak as a split plate, and wanted 2 different temperatures of doneness; we were told they would only do one or the other!!! Really?!? Harrah’s does this for us all the time, with no arguement, and to perfection! THAT is an exemplary Steakhouse! I will never cheat on them again!

Not up to the mark of Sterling’s at the Silver Legacy; still my favored steak house in Reno. Everything at This property(Harrha’s) is à la carte and it’s not worth the mark-up. Also, the steak only tasted slightly aged and the grill used imparted no smokiness or flavor into the steak. Will not be returning to this house.

My wife, daughter and I went for dinner Saturday. We’ve been a couple times previously and this«experience» was similar to the others, great food and service. I ordered the filet Oscar style and my wife and daughter shared a t-bone, both cooked as directed and super tender and tasty! We had prawns, salad and lobster bisque soup and again spot on! We were tempts to try the café Diablo but we had my young daughter with us… maybe next time when it’s just us adults. Keep up the good work Harrahs!

I love my experience each and every time I go to Harrahs Steakhouse. I love the pampered feeling and the impeccable service. The attention to detail is refreshing. I will continue to enjoy their dining experience every chance I get!

Went here for Valentine’s Day 16′ and the experience was amazing. We started with the oysters Rockefeller which were outstanding. And we were lucky enough to to try the café Diablo(min 4 people) which the table next to us kindly shared. Our waiter called himself«captain oz» and made it a great time. Would most definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try this steakhouse. I gave it four stars because of price. I had the fillet mignon and lobster, and for market price I was expecting a decent portion, but the fillet was way over cooked. Lobster was ok. I wouldn’t pay $ 75 again. Maybe try something else on the menu though. Also, I know that Harrah’s Friday Station in South Lake Tahoe is quite similar. But the Reno restaurant is down in the basement, while Friday Station has lake views. The Reno steakhouse is a lot older and is in dyer need of remodel in my opinion. My fiancé claimed its like an old fashion steak house in New York, but you’d think they would relocate and give it a city view.

I was with a large group that ate here last Friday night. I have ate here at least 5 other times and have always had a consistent experience. Let me break down our night: Service: 6 Stars. Yep, that’s right. This place has always delivered great service, last Friday night was no exception. In fact, it sets the bar for other steak houses. Lead by Mr. ‘James’ Bong and his brigade of excellent servers and sommelier. Very attentive. Fun but professional. Truly a superb experience. Appetizers: 5 Stars. We had the seafood towers, lobster ‘escargot’, and coconut calamari. All were outstanding. You need to experience the seafood towers. A magnificent spread. Main course: 4 Stars. Most everyone had steaks. A few had the sea bass. I had the bone-in Ribeye. Those that had the filet and sea bass loved their meals. Those of us that had the ribeye were disappointed. The three of us that had the ribeye all thought they were tough and gristly. So, I will definitely have the filet when I am in town next. After Dinner Café Diablo: 6 Stars. This flambé’ after dinner drink was awesome. Bong served 17 of us with this perfect, high octane, flaming coffee drink that was sooo good, that we had to do 2 separate encores. Each time, Bong performed and concocted magically… always with a big smile and lots of humor. A True professional. In Summary: Although my ribeye was disappointing, everything else that we ate and experienced Friday night was exemplary. Mr. Bong and his colleagues should be very proud. Harrah’s has some great employees. We will be back next year and will request Mr. Bong. I can hardly wait!

My wife and I decided to commemorate what would have been my mother-in-law’s 75th birthday at our favorite restaurant. Our capitan Bong, who is usually non-stop with jokes and laughs, understood the more somber mood of the occasion, yet still brought out a birthday cheesecake, which was her favorite. Over the years, I’ve had most items on the menu and their specials, from steak diane to escargot, we’ve never had a bad experience and this was no different. Steaks are always done right, best table side Caesar Salad in town, and an after-dinner drink that lives up to the name Café Diablo. I highly recommend one of the best Steakhouses I’ve ever been to. From the wonderfully delicious food, the terrific and attentive wait staff, a greatly varied wine and champagne list and the quiet atmosphere, you won’t be disappointed.

HORRIBLE. I came here on NYE with my BF and some friends and we were really looking forward to our NYE dinner. I ordered steak and lobster with my steak medium well, my BF had the same thing but his steak was medium rare, our friend ordered the steak Diane and his wife ordered foie gras. Our server, Tommy, was a little older and kind of slow. He cooked our friends steak Diane in front of us, and the steaks were super thin. It took about 7 minutes to cook, and the finished product was so disappointing. It looked like Marie Calendar’s frozen Salisbury steak TV dinner. It has teriyaki sauce and mushrooms on top. We could tell our friend was super let down by his meal. My lobster was ok, it was a nice sized portion. But the steak that I ordered medium well came out RAW. It looked cooked on the outside, and it wasn’t even medium rare or medium inside, it was plain RAW. This threw off my appetite and I told our sever I didn’t even want it anymore. He said he would take it back and take it off the bill. When we were all done with our disappointing dinner, the bill came. Turns out the server didn’t take the steak off the bill so we told him. When the bill came back the second time, a total of only $ 12 was taken off. Ok!!! Not only that, but as we were still counting our money to put in the bill book Tommy came over and just grabbed the bill and walked away. That guy seems like a nutcase. WORSTSERVICEEVER. Definitely NOT worth $ 257. Overall, we were looking forward to an epic NYE dinner and we left disappointed. We should have tried a better restaurant elsewhere, I’m sure anywhere else had better food and better service. Next time I’m in Reno I will not come back to this old people steak house.

Our son who graduated college treated his parents & girlfriend to dinner. Harrahs has always been a ‘special’ place for us & I am glad my son loves it as much as us! Service is spectacular: on top of water refills, checking on you frequently– very old school in service & style. Quiet, no open ceilings that echo(cork ceilings), carpeted floor, NONEON! Food: outstanding– steak Diane prepared table side as is Café Diablo. We had café & Bananas Foster comped & we tipped generously & each individual employee who served us came to thank us individually. Prices are comparable to other steak houses, but here you have ambiance, and over the top service!

horrible!!! We went as a family and they wanted to charge 30% extra because my two small children making us a party of 8(I have 4 teens). They said we could avoid the fee by sitting at two tables to which we agreed but they then said the tables need to be on opposite sides of the restaurant so we wouldn’t still be like one party even though there were plenty of tables next to each other. Money grubbing with no concern for customers. They turned a fun meal after family pictures into an embarrassing hassle to leave and find another restaurant.

I didn’t think I’d find a restaurant of this quality below a casino in Reno, but it definitely happened. Your waiters and servers will create an excellent experience for you, and they’ll be very helpful and friendly. They don’t have a Somm here, but they’ve got a couple of people who know a decent amount about wine. Cocktails and beers are in short stock, but they can make the regulars — gin and tonic, Moscow mule, Manhattan, etc. Now, the food. Bread comes out in sourdough, dutch crunch, and herb wafers. You also get a nice little amuse bouche to start off. Before your entrees come, they’ll clean your palate with raspberry sorbert and champagne. Awesome. The steaks are fantastic. They’re cooked perfectly, and if you’re going for the most flavorful cut, you want the ribeye because you get the bone, but the prime rib isn’t bad at all. All cuts are succulent and tender, and when the meal ends, you get a decorative plate of chocolates over liquid nitrogen. That’s quite the experience. For a whole bottle of wine, a cocktail, 3 steaks, a salad, and sides of fries and rice, our total came out to $ 230 before tip. Not bad at all in terms of pricing.

First, let me say that our waiter, Bong, did a very good job… except that he could have picked up on our disappointment better. We grumbled, but didn’t want to ruin the meal any more by the machinations, and negotiations, and delays that come with complaining about the food. we own that part. so … We ordered the«Special», which was supposed to be a 5 oz filet. Now I didn’t have a scale but if that was 5 oz.(pre-cooked, even) I would be shocked. To hide the fact that the tiny filet was overcooked, they drowned it in not one, but two(!) different sauces, soaking the canned crab meat on top that was supposed to make it «Oscar» style. The pasta was pasty and cold as well. We ordered their Mac n’ Cheese appetizer… bland and cold(even the waiter was dismayed, and he did volunteer to remove it from the bill). The kitchen was so crash-bang-boom that I started to believe the dishes were disposable! The waiter apologized and seemed to make a little difference by asking them to dial it down a couple of octaves. At $ 142(before tip), we would have done better at Outback(that comment would startle people who know me, but it’s true). Sorry. Now, I start the search for another steakhouse in Reno.

The ambience was comfortable. The staff was nicely dressed, very friendly and service was excellent. The food was great. The bone in prime rib was very tender, tasty and a perfect MR. It was still good having it as leftovers. I topped my steak with foie gras but you can do without it as the green peppercorn sauce might have went better with the steak and cut the bill by a bit. Loved the classic table side service such as the cherries jubilee I ordered at the end. The servers there do it ! I didn’t know should I have tipped him on the spot or not. So I just put 20% in the bill … Will definitely come back each Time I’m in Reno

The Steakhouse just wasn’t what I remembered. Thank heavens. A groupon brought me back after years of skipping out. It’s that deep dark wood, iconic 1950’s Hollywood. It was even larger than I remember, three different dinning rooms, two lined with large romantic booths. Tables are scattered down the middle. And that low light that you just expect. This is one of those places that if you want to be «pampered«at a meal, you will be. Not by just a waiter, but an entire team. Our«captain» was Arland, he was in charge and handled the wine selection and taking the order. Another gentleman made sure the bread, wine and water were always full. The next guy was in charge of bringing the cart out– I totally didn’t remember this and I LOVED this– the cart had a mini heating tray with our plated food of it. Not only does the food arrive toasty hot, the plates were hotter than any Mexican restaurant has ever delivered. My new standard in hot food and plate delivery. Everything is an a la cart menu. Entrees start at $ 30 and go up to $ 80. We enjoyed a juicy bone in 20oz ribeye and nice medium rare cut of prime rib. Food was quality and extremely tasty. But do expect to pay for the meal and service. Bottle of wine, two steaks and two sides were $ 140. Loving that $ 60 Groupon.

We chose to celebrate our anniversary dinner at Harrah’s Steakhouse. We’ve been to Sterling’s, Romanza, and Charlie Palmer’s on previous occasions. We weren’t impressed with the last two places and wanted to find some place better. We had reservations for six pm but ended up changing it to a later time without any complications. We were greeted and seated immediately and had a cozy private booth in a corner. Ambience: Warm and inviting, tastefully decorated with plenty of booths and tables. Food: *Spinach salad w/crumbled blue bacon and red onions with a warm vinegarete *Loaded baked potato *Roasted brussel sprouts with bacon *Prime rib-melt in your mouth tender accompanied by veggies *Chocolate mousse cake with chocolate dipped strawberry Service: Our waiter, I’ll call him that, was okay. He was rather unfriendly and cold. No personality. He only took our order. There were servers who did all the grunt work. They served our food, refilled our drinks, etc. our waiter sucked but the servers were very professional and friendly! The servers had wished us a Happy Anniversary, not our waiter. Unsure if he copped an attitude because we decided to share our entrée. We had over indulged on chicken tacos at the Peppermill Lounge and was rather full. Similar to all fine steak houses, everything is ala carte. Although we split our meal, we were both still unable to finish our meal. We hardly touched our bread basket. Everything we ordered was definitely noteworthy and exceptional. We ended up taking majority of our prime rib and the sides home. After our meal, they brought out our complimentary dessert, with a Happy Anniversary inscribed in chocolate lettering. Then, they brought out after dinner chocolates in a silver bowl on top of dry ice! The effect was mesmerizing! Very romantic and a perfect ending to a memorable dinner. Aside from the snooty waiter, who literally ran to our table as we were leaving to grab his tip(tacky and rude), we’ll still go back and highly recommend Harrah’s Steakhouse. I just hope we don’t have the same pompous waiter!

My boyfriend and I wanted to try a fancy steakhouse in Reno for our sixth month anniversary of dating, which took place the weekend after Valentine’s Day. Other Unilocalers whose judgment I trust sang its praises, so I booked us a reservation on OpenTable and noted that our visit was a celebration. I had only been in Harrah’s once before, but it was not difficult to find the staircase down to the steakhouse. This is a huge positive for me: so often do I get lost in the Eldorado and Silver Legacy! The restaurant is dark and fancy and pleasantly old-timey with its dark wood and dark colors. We were seated in a semicircular booth which had just the right amount of distance from the main dining room floor. The service was friendly and prompt and for the most part very professional. A notable lapse was when my non-American boyfriend asked our waiter to describe what kind of cut of meat is the New York strip steak and he couldn’t on the spot. Very weird, as our waiter was an older gentleman who was described to us as having worked at the steakhouse for a long time. Now we get to the part that has made me hesitant to write the review: the food. My boyfriend got terrible food poisoning from the meal. TERRIBLE, MISERABLEFOODPOISONING. He got the creamed spinach as the side for his steak and he suspects that was what did him in. I did not get sick, and I enjoyed my steak and au gratin potatoes. More importantly, I LOVED the Caesar salad for two. I could eat that dish every single day it is so delicious, and the table-side preparation is so cool. My meal was yummy, but my steak didn’t blow me over like I thought it might. The wine list was pretty meh: not very extensive and not very exciting. The butter that we were served with the bread was cold and thus not spreadable. What’s up with details like this not being attended to? On the positive side, though, we did receive a beautifully decorated piece of delicious cheesecake in honor of our anniversary. It’s not official until stuff is written on a dessert, so that was a lovely touch to end our meal. So the takeaway: we had a nice but not spectacular meal at Harrah’s, but that memory is complicated by my boyfriend’s experience of absolutely awful food poisoning later that evening. I doubt highly that I will want to give them a second try, as I hear that there are too many other good steakhouses that we should try when fancy dinner opportunities come around.
