Dickey’s always has good BBQ and the sweet tea reminds me of home. With the daily special, you can get a full meal for $ 10 or less. The green beans are always good but the fried okra is not crunchy enough. They have three flavors of sauces — all are good and the spicy will wake you up. If you’re on the road and can’t find a good local BBQ restaurant, Dickey’s is always a safe bet.

I’ve had dickeys in California and was glad to find one in Reno. I got the ¼lb meat combo which comes with 2 sides and a dinner roll(no drink). I chose the pulled pork, potato salad and beans. The ¼lb of meat was mainly fat and the beans tasted like they were straight out of a can. But the potato salad was great. The dinner roll was hard as if it were frozen. They also offer ½lb and 1lb meat meal options as well as a rib plate. You can get pulled pork and brisket as well. Some people come here just to buy meat and make their own side dishes at home. As far as staff it seemed like they were willing to do the bare minimum. They don’t accept debit cards but have an atm machine which I always get nervous to use inside little restaurants. They have text in offers in California in which I did not see a sign for at this dickeys.

For a fast-food barbecue joint, Dickey’s is the real deal. All the meat has that good smokey flavor barbecue enthusiasts love, the sides are all very delicious, and the staff is quick and very courteous. This particular location has a little bar attached to the restaurant, which is always a major bonus. It’s tab based and the bartenders are fun and charismatic. In fact, I go to the bar at this location quite often. Overall, the food is great, the drinks are cheap, AND there’s a free soft serve machine! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who’s craving some serious barbecue or just craving a strong drink.

Great casual BBQ. The meat and sides are always tasty. 3 different BBQ sauces are served warm, which is appreciated. My fave is the spicy BBQ sauce. Service is quick. Great for a fast & tasty lunch!!!

Terrible for ordering online and picking up! The food was NASTY! The ribs were good, but you only get 4 for $ 14! WTF? The salad I got was HOT and sour… WTF and served in a thimble cup. The Chicken was processed and horrible. I will never order from Dickies BBQ again. I’ve had better at Subway! UPDATE! They actually wrote me a message. So they DO care about their customers! I will give them another try… BUT not ordering. I will go in and sit my butt down. =). Sometimes when you order for pick up or delivery the food just loses any good qualities it had.

This place serves a real purpose as a «Fast Casual» offering for BBQ folks. It is located in a strip shopping center on a main street. We had the 2 specials of the day: Rib Tips and a Pulled Pork/Sausage combo sandwich. Both came with 2 sides and a drink for $ 8, a real bargain. The jalapeño beans and Caesar Salad were both excellent. We both had the Onion Straws which were very good. The Order taker also brought out the meals and cleared them away when we were done, He was very friendly and helpful, especially when we noticed the Rib Tip special AFTER we had paid the bill. He substituted with no fuss at all. Maybe not the absolute best BBQ ever, but genuinely good and a great deal.

Hadn’t eaten here for a while, but checked it out the other day and it’s on solid footing. They have $ 5 value specials, and my personal favorite if the Brisket Burrito no Pico, and the Green Sauce and the Hot BBQ sauce on the side. If you want a pickle, let them know how many, they slice one up in deli size pieces. Good Brisket, Good Tasting Food, Good Prices, Good Quality, and Quantity, so meets my Value Equation!

So I have to admit that I have never been here before. I do not know how long this place has been open but I am sure it has been a few years and for some reason it just never came across my radar screen. When a coworker suggested we go here for lunch yesterday I ready to give it a go. The food was good. They have daily lunch specials which vary depending on the day of the week. Tuesday was the three rib special with two sides and a biscuit for 7.99. A good value. The mac and cheese had good flavor and a creamy consistency and the beans had just enough spice. The special include a drink with free refills and though I did not partake also free soft serve ice cream cones at the end of the meal. The rest of the items on the menu ran to the usual offerings(pulled pork etc.) and entrees were in the 10.00 range so not too bad. Service was speedy and courteous. This will definitely go on my list of lunch places for future visits.

In my opinion, best BBQ in town. Better than famous Dave’s and half the price. Love the slaw topper on pulled pork sandwich and kids meal is top notch. Of course, the ice cream soft serve is top notch!

First off, we were a little disappointed in the store itself. It is in basically a strip mall, and is fairly small inside. For whatever reason, I was thinking it was more what I am used to, a stand alone bbq joint. Also, it comes off more fast-food-ish because when you arrive, you have to walk up to a small counter and order, head to the soda machine, and then pick a table and wait. The food did arrive quick, because everything is already cooked of course. On the plus side, the ribs were pretty good, and the best I have had in Reno, so far(and yes Reno, you seriously need some pitmasters in this town). The bbq beans are so-so, as was the ‘baked potato casserole’. I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Ok I love BBQ, being raised around old school BBQ novelist, self proclaimed master’s of the grill. I got the meat plate 1 with a exact half slab add on. Meat was tender, not enough flavor for me, expected bigger portion then what I received was a little disappointed about that. BBQ sauces are pretty good. Also had fried okara and potato salad, liked fried okara but the potato salad was mediocre. Over all a decent BBQ spot.

Let’s just go ahead and start of with — I’m a sucker for barbecue! Really, I would eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner if i could! Haha. So Dickey’s quenches that love when I just need to grab something quick! My latest regular order is the quarter plate of brisket with a side of barbecue beans and baked potato casserole. The meat has been regularly fall apart soft though the smoke flavor isn’t quite there. No problem for me, as I love the sweet bbq sauce! The beans are nice and peppery and the potatoes are alright. Every time I stop by we have the same cashier — he’s nice and embraces the my indecisive order(even though I end up getting the same thing every time!) The the shop and bathrooms are clean. Of course, you also can’t go wrong with free vanilla ice cream on your way out the door! For some reason, this is my favorite soft serve! Yum!

Came in today for a quick bite as I was in the area(not typical for me). Decided on the daily special — a sausage and pulled pork sandwich with two sides and a drink for 8 bucks. Here’s a summary — nice work for $ 8 my friend! My sandwich was delicious. Both meats were awesome and I would have been happy with either alone. The cheese and pickle added a nice texture and flavor later as well. My sides were fried onions and jalepeno beans. Both were excellent! Finished every bite and filled me up. Not so much as I couldn’t grab a free ice cream cons on the way out though :-) This isn’t the mom and pop BBQ with smoke stained ceilings and it doesn’t have a huge chain feel. It is good, inexpensive bbq done well and quickly in my case. The service was prompt and the place was clean. Overall — a dang fine lunch.

They have a different lunch special every day like a lot of places, some days are better than others. I like the BBQ sandwich the best. I tried the burrito and is was just OK, probably won’t get it again. The meats are all good, but the potato salad is not very good. It has too much of «sauce» to potato ratio.

The food is disgusting and the restaurant part smells like a stale cigarette because they have a bar next door where they allow smoking. The whole area is just run down. I had a pulled pork sandwich. Almost immediately after finishing my stomach started churning and later I threw it up. The people working there go next door to smoke… Do you even wash your hands afterward?! YUCK. The ice cream machine is always«broken» or «temporarily unavailable for cleaning.»

Eating bbq during lunch is not conducive to after-lunch productivity. However, after determining that Starbucks had no appealing lunch options, we headed over to Dicky’s to see if we could order anything and avoid the impending food coma. Upon first glance, the menu consisted of pulled pork, brisket, ribs, mac n cheese, fries… all the heavy stuff. However, the nice employees informed us of other options — salads, wraps, tacos(what?) and some loaded baked potatoes. My work companion opted for a loaded potato(which, btw, turned out to be ginormous!). I ordered one of the mini pulled pork sandwiches and was SO happy that it literally was a mini sandwich. Just the right amount of meat for me! I also ordered mac ‘n’ cheese because it looked really good. Dicky’s has 3 different types of bbq sauce(original, spicy and sweet). Self-serve? Don’t mind if I fill up 2 cups of spicy sauce!(It was my favorite!) Oh, and they also have free ice cream… soft serve. I didn’t get any, but it’s a nice treat to have!

Something very sketchy top-down about management and raking in $$. Several months ago, my husband enjoyed some of the brisket so we ordered a double size of it to go. Turns out the smaller size was $ 6, but the larger(exactly double size) was $ 14. Doesn’t take a genius to see that that doesn’t add up. Brought it up with the MANAGER. He looked at me like I was an idiot. And he basically refused to refund me the difference. I suppose I’m a pain in the ass, so I asked him to please refund the money and charge me for two of the smaller servings instead of the larger one and he painstaking did. Maybe he was having a bad day, but in no way, shape, or form was he amenable(much less apologetic.) This Sunday we were just in there and discovered they changed their get-a-kids-meal free option. The cashier credited us for one instead of two. I mentioned it to her and she said you have to buy something additional, so I added two sides to my husband’s meal. No problem, but I expect a cashier to tell me about my options in such a case. For example: «Ma’am, if you purchase two additional sides we’ll be able to credit you for the second kids’ meal. Your options are waffle fries, the crispy onions, etc. …» I mean, turn it around, provide a little customer service instead of just staring at me and acting like I’m not going to ask why I didn’t get my second kids meal free. As well, chocolate ice cream wasn’t working this time ’round and the serving cups weren’t available. Look, my over all impression is that management is cheap and trying to cut corners with customers. That attitude must trickle down to employees. It’s amazing to me that customer service could be so bad. Other than that — we enjoy the food and the opportunity to go there on Sunday. (I tried to upload a pic of the tomatoes I was given on my salad on Sunday as well. Imagine a delicious salad, but topped with four mushy tomatoes. Yep, that’s what I got; plus my salad was much smaller than usual, but who’s complaining? Wish there were another Dickey’s in the south part of town. Would go there any day.)

You can smell the sweet scent of awesome BBQ as soon as you enter. They have a giant printed menu at the door which made things easy. The server was extremely helpful when trying to decide. I ended up ordering two, two meat plates, and two kids meals. It only ran me about 30 bucks. The food came out really fast and tasted absolutely amazing. We immediately asked ourselves why have we not been eating here our entire trip. They feature some pretty cool stuff like free pickles, and ICECREAM. That’s right I said it, FREE soft serve ice cream= AWESOMENESS. I can honestly say that everything that I tasted was really good. I usually don’t tip at fast food joints, but I had to here. Because the service really was that good. I stopped by the ATM that they have inside and hooked the server up. For me they were an automatic 4 stars. But when you throw in the free soft serve ice cream and the great service. They definitely earned themselves 5 stars. If your in Reno you have to try Dickeys. Even if you grab it to go.

June 4, 2011 Saturday — lunch 12:30PM 2 adults, 1 teenager Atmosphere — 4 stars Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Background — I have driven by this place many times. After reading the reviews on Unilocal we decided to go. Atmosphere — A small strip mall restaurant. Fast food style with the walk up counter to order, they hand you a number and serve you at your table. The biggest problem is that the tables for four people are two tables pushed together. Really you are setup for a four person table why put two two person tables. Food Appetizer — Do they have any? Main Course — The rib plate with two sides; waffle French fries and onion tanglers. The ribs were cleaned to the bone with little effort, just fell off the bone. The smoke was flavorful in the ribs. The waffle fries were just there, nothing special. Now the onion tanglers are just stripped onion rings. They had some seasoning salt and pepper on them. They were delicious. I also stole some hush puppies from my girlfriend’s plate, I am so glad she got them. The item is not on their normal menu, it was on the white board above the cashier. Dessert — Did not order any, I was stuffed after that combo plate. Service — Fast and friendly.
