Listen. You have to know what you’re going into when you go to a grocery outlet. Forget all the«used food store» jokes. Just go expecting a mix of the 99 cent store and Trader Joe’s. They have a limited but decent selection of bargain foods, including some fresh produce, baking goods, dairy products, etc. They have some limited run, seasonal items you’re not find elsewhere. Coconut marshmallows come to mind. But you’ll also find some hidden gems if you take the time to look. Natural organic food options. Interesting cheeses and meats. Non dairy substitutes. And always a really interesting selection of wines from around the world, and craft beers. This particular store hosts a wine tasting once a week, and my wife and I have found some very nice wines this way. Plus it’s a great little excuse to get out and have a little 1-on-1 time together. Date night at the Grocery Outlet! Lol. Does that make us total rednecks?

Love it here! I’ve always had a bad attitude towards discount grocery stores but this Grocery Outlet changed my mind. Lots of cool, unique items and cheap health/organic foods. Awesome prices on kids lunch snacks, meat items and milk alternatives(almond, soy and coconut milk). Added bonus, everyone is super friendly and helpful. Great service, clean store, nice break from crowded larger stores.

I’m not a big fan of the Grocery Outlet because it doesnt carry everything I typically use. I dont like shopping at three or four grocery stores just to get all of the products I enjoy. The Grocery Outlet does have good prices. You may find some pricey items for very cheap, but be sure to check the expiration date. There is a large selection of wine and it appears to be reasonably priced. I will only stop by the Grocery Outlet if I am in the neighborhood, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here in hopes of getting all of my shopping done.

Grocery Outlet isn’t for everyone, and I’m okay with that. The affectionate name«Gross Out» is fitting in some stores, but not this one. But, unless you have no standards, you really can’t buy everything you need here. If you want to avoid Gross-Out because it doesn’t have everything, you are flushing money down the toilet. This is obviously more true for some stores(like Raley’s) than others(like Winco). But whatever, stay away; more cheap, good food for me. Not everything is the cheapest here(see my note on the beer, below), but it’s close. Anyway, I’m not up in the north valleys very often, and I often hit the Kietzke Grocery Outlet because it’s closer to my other errands. That said, this is hands-down the best of the three Reno-area G.O. stores. The owners clearly make a big effort to order the natural/organic stuff when its available, which gives more options to grocery snobs like me. The chocolate section is like 5x the other stores, too. It’s also much cleaner, which may be partially due to being newer than the other stores. They also make much better use of their space than the other stores; having a frozen section with glass cases is much nicer than antiquated open-trough freezers. From all I can tell they have the best beer/wine/liquor selection, which aren’t G.O.‘s best deals(actually it’s usually not a discount at all), but this story seems to put booze on sale more frequently. [I forgot to add that this is the ONLY G.O. I’ve been to that consistently has two or more checkers working at any given time. Waiting in a long line at G.O., which happens too often at the other G.O.s is not pleasant.]

Nice place — good variety of items — just watch the expiration date on the items as some are close to expiring. If you are looking for wine, they offer wine tasting once a month. I haven’t had the opportunity to go for the wine tasting yet, but have visited the department. I found a bottle of wine that sells for 4x as a much as another store. They had a HUGE savings on it. This location offers produce, canned goods, wine, beer, a small selection of jackets and other clothing items, kitchen utensils etc. I don’t think I could complete my whole grocery list here, but I could get a pretty good start and save money in the process.

Always a fan of the Outlet. Plus this one is «NEW» and very clean right now. Happy that one is in North Valley area.
