A place that is not worth the hype… The prices are okay, the food could be better… WAYYBETTER… Hash mountain, Hash browns topped with corned beef hash 2 poached eggs and a cheese blend… Lets begin, the corned beef hash was good so it was unfortunate you only get a spec worth compared to the mountain of bland hash browns, which definitely would’ve benefited from being browner as the tasted and looked like they were steamed, not fried, the only thing that even made them edible was the yolk from the eggs and the decent amount of unmelted cheese they topped it with. The rest of the party had eggs and sausage, which I was relieved to see the sausage were huge… but accompanied by the same bland under-cooked hash browns and eggs that are(you guessed it) nothing special at all. The service leaves ALOT to be desired as well… from the fact that you cannot leave with leftovers because and I quote, they«have enough customers so they don’t do that»… to the haughty rushin’ Russian waitress who forces you to blurt out your order, regardless of whether you’re ready, and then spends the rest of your visit ignoring you, even if all you need is a fork… and good luck adding on to your order, guess they don’t do that either. Safe to say, I will NOT be returning to, or recommending this place ever… if you’re considering a diner, just GOTODENNY’S, the food is better and the prices are comparable.

Tried to come here for bfast/lunch last Saturday with 7 of my friends. It was around noon, and there were multiple tables open, not too busy. We offered to split up and take different tables instead of waiting for a big table. They refused to sit us!!! No real reason! I guess they don’t know how to feed 8 people at once. Go to Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs instead. We called, put our name on the list, showed up, and were seated at 2 tables of 4 in about 10 minutes. And they were crazy busy. Breakfast was f’in awesome!!!

The Breakfast was ordinary. It is definitely not Peg’s or Jack’s. The portions ok. The cleanliness was horrible. The cook was sloppy and dirty, he looked like he didn’t care. The service is mediocre at best.

Originally meant to go to Filipino restaurant for breakfast a couple doors to the right, but their cook was late, and we were hungry. Turned out good. We looked up this place, and saw the good reviews on Unilocal,so tried it out. It’s a small, but clean place. The waitress was very friendly, but the menu was underwhelming at first. I rechecked the reviews, and went for it. I had an omelet with bacon and pepper jack cheese. Wife had one of the smaller breakfasts(Nookie?) with German sausage. Everything was good. As noted in other reviews, both bacon and toast do not appear to be store bought. Everything cooked perfectly. Will come back to try other breakfasts!

Wow!!! If you are in Reno, and you are looking for a nice small business to support, this place is THEBEST!!! Let’s start with the water! Mmmm it’s filtered and amaaaaaazing! After an evening of drinking, this really hits the spot! My husband ordered the chicken fried steak with all the fixins and he loved it! I got the ham n chz scram, mmmmm better then I can make at home! The waitress is fantastic, and she works alone since it is a very small café, but it’s clear that they make their food with love here. This is our new go-to spot in Reno!

If I could give no stars I would. I didn’t even get to eat here. I never ever would write a bad Unilocal review but I am so surprised I have the urge too for this place. In Reno for my sisters wedding. Came here after leaving airport had about 10 people. Granted this is a small place, and if you can’t accommodate us then plead be kind and tell us nicely. Soooooo freaking rude. Straight was greeted with«I don’t think we can… No sorry» before we even walked in. There were enough seats where we could have split tables. But no offers no nothing. I’m so mad about this. We were refused service instantly. Screw this place. I told myself I would never write I bad review, but this lady deserved it.

In town for a family event. Looked for somewhere close with decent ratings and affordable and this popped up. I’m vegan so I ordered a hash brown with veggies added. I was surprised to see a bowl of veggies brought out separate w my hash browns. It was good to see as most times I barely get any veggies just the browns. Another huge plus is normally the browns come dripping in oil. These came out dry to my joy!!! It tasted wonderful! My daughter had French toast and she is a very picky 6yo. She’s only had it once before. She loved it! So plus there as well! My husband enjoyed his omelet and my son said his country fried steak was good was a lil tough but it was good. The place was empty, maybe not enough reviewers? Fast and friendly service. The chef even checked on us. Thanks for the breakfast!

I love this little place, it’s a true local hide a way. The chefs makes the most perfect eggs, the omelette are always just right and large. Eggs are never burnt, never runny, just perfect. The service is always good especially if you come there often. Be it breakfast or lunch it’s always consistent. It’s totally run by a husband & wife team, he does the back of the house she does the front. Don’t go if your in a really big hurry once inside your on their schedule, just relax and enjoy.

We arrived to Nook excited to try this cute little place out. Arrived one hour before closing. We placed a Togo order, the waitress was very nice and sweet. As we sat waiting we can see into the kitchen and hear the cook or owner or who ever this man was, say«I can’t do all of this, I already Put the lettuce away.» My husband and I ask the waitress if we should modify our order in some way and the man says«two things» while slamming doors and items around the kitchen with an ever growing redness to his face. We start to get up to leave this hostile environment we the man yells«do you just want two burgers or something.» We felt very sorry for the waitress who was clearly embarrassed. Do yourself a favor and go to the Nook as soon as they open before they put the lettuce away.

Sooooooo, I went here because it was close to the GMC dealership I was stuck at on a Saturday morning. This place perplexes me. It’s small. It could be a pretty cool hidden spot. However, it’s like having breakfast at your grandpas house without any charm. My hash mountain, at least what I envisioned in my head, was going to be a thing of artisanal beauty. Instead, and no exaggeration here, it was two poached eggs, over canned corned beef hash, over undercooked hash browns covered in unmelted cheese. It looked as bland as it tasted. I’ll just be brutally honest here, aside from a very friendly young man working the entire room, the whole experience sucked. The owner needs to go to a few smaller cafes in town and steal ideas. I like supporting small businesses that are locally owned. However, if you depart this earth without ever going here you’ll be fine. Aside from the nice guy server, it was truly a terrible dining experience… Update: I was thinking about it the next day. It still sucked…

Great food cooked to order, friendly service nice atmosphere, clean. Many regulars eating here on a first name basis with the proprietors. I had a bacon and egg sandwich and biscuits and gravy and it was excellent. We will be back soon to try the Tesla Burger. Looking forward to it.

Eating at The Nook is like going to Grandma and Grandpa’s house for a home cooked meal. The food was tasty. The price was reasonable. We would definitely come again.

So my family and I stopped here on a Sunday morning, around 8:30 am hoping for a good breakfast based on the reviews. There were 4 other people in the café… I repeat 4. We sat outside since it was nice that morning. The waitress gave us menus and said she would be back to get our order, so a few mins passed before she was back to ask what we wanted to drink. «Coffee and apple juice, please.» We waited, and waited, and waited. After at least 20 – 25 mins, we walked out. In that 20 – 25 mins time, she sat an older couple that had walked in about 10 mins after us, I made eye contact with her several times and she nodded as to say give me a min, and we were sitting in her direct view the whole time. I would have liked to try this place but the service was so unacceptable that I will not go back to give it a chance. We went to Jack’s Coffee Shop instead and we were seated and served coffee in less than 5 mins. Great food and great service at Jack’s.

Found this place on Unilocal!Just a short drive from downtown Reno. Great mom and pop hole in the wall serving breakfast and lunch. Coffee was perfect and the signature special«Hash Mountain» did not disappoint. Homemade jams, Cholula hot sauce and friendly service. This is my kind of breakfast spot!

Flew in from Brooklyn, NY the night before and was looking for a breakfast spot before starting our trip to Tahoe. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice. Diner classics cooked to perfection! Everything was delicious and lovingly prepared. The service was exceptional, friendly, and welcoming. The restaurant itself was clean and tidy. This is a gem with lots of small town charm. I’ll be back the next time I’m in Reno…

Not a horrible experience. We came here looking for a good breakfast joint at around 11. I ordered the hash mountain: two hash patties on a bed of hash browns topped with poached eggs and cheese. S.O. ordered sausage mountain which is the same concept just with sausage patties and country gravy. I loved the service you can definitely tell its a mom and pop shop. Wifey running the floor, while hubby cooks. It’s places like these that are being lost and it makes me sad. What I also appreciate is the minimal amounts of grease they use. You can tell by the hashbrowns small char on them from the hot pan. I also appreciate prompt service and a clean atmosphere. What I didn’t appreciate was I am pretty sure my eggs were packaged and not cooked to order also they definitely were over easy eggs not poached. Unless he is a god with eggs I’m pretty sure they’re premade or packaged eggs that are heat to order. I also expected my cheese to be melted and it wasn’t, it was a mound of shredded cheese atop my hash and prepackaged eggs. The country gravy was good, but different. There were definitely some spices in there that are not traditional, it almost had a sweet after taste. Overall good, inexpensive, large portions, cute place.

This is a cute little place and the service was swift and friendly. Mid Sunday morning and there was just a few regulars in there. Coffee was pretty bland. I ordered my usual Denver omelette by ordering ham and their«peppers/onions mix» but I didn’t detect a single onion and there were, maybe, three or four small pieces of red bell pepper. It was, unfortunately, all mixed together instead of being inside the omelette. On top of that, the eggs were still a bit runny. I was going to order a side of corned beef hash just to check it out but the waitress told me they were«pre-formed» and weren’t really available as a side. I guess that means frozen. Anyway, while I wouldn’t come back for an omelette, I might try one of their other items, particularly the lunch items, which looked good.

I have been wanting some steak and eggs and my boss and I were talking about local places. She mentioned this one and how her husband pretty much eats here everyday. She did tell me that their hours were 9am to 2pm so I’d have to go during my lunch break or the weekend. Darn. Anyway, I was starting work late one day so I decided to stop by here. It’s a cute little shop. I decided to sit in the counter since I was by myself. I was quickly given the menu. I still looked at it even though I already knew what I wanted. I asked for the NY steak and eggs but was tempted with the hash mountain. WOW, that was a lot of food! The presentation is quite different from any steak and eggs I have had before. The steak came with an onion ring on top. The eggs and hash brown came in a separate plate and so did my sourdough toast. Everything was great and I will likely be coming back for their hash mountain :)

This place has a cool vintage vibe! Between the funky teal colored walls, classic rock on the radio and some old school seating, you’d swear you were back in 1960 or 70! But that aside, this is really a neighborhood diner with a small staff, honest prices, serving comfort food classics for breakfast and lunch. The Nook is tucked in the back of a shopping center on the corner of Vassar and Kietzke. There’s no way you’d see it from the road and the signage is minimal. My friend, who I’d met for lunch, has worked across the street for several years and had never been before. I hate hearing that kind of stuff because they are located right near several large businesses that could be regular customers. The Nook is, well a nook in the shopping center. They have a small menu and serve breakfast all day, which is a nice treat, but today I was in the mood for lunch so I ordered a turkey club on two slices of bread, and my friend had a garden salad. My sandwich was good, with well toasted bread, crispy bacon, crunchy lettuce, fresh tomato, and impressively, house roasted, thick cut turkey breast. It was served with crispy fries and a garnish of parsley a black olive, and a few shavings of carrot, which is about what you’d expect at a diner! The garden salad was well, garden variety. Iceberg lettuce, black olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots. It all looked fresh and crisp, but nothing to write home about. It’s a quiet place to grab a bite, sit and talk, or have a lunch meeting, worthy of your support, but nothing about it is calling me back anytime soon.
