Absolutly fantastic! Great customer service and tasty unique gourmet deli cuisine. Super clean and relaxing environment. So glad we stopped in during our trip. Worth the drive. Thanks for the suggestion!

Continuing my quest to discover the healthier options in our fair city, I set my sights on Yosh’s today in hopes of finding a fantastic salad with substantial protein for lunch today. I’ve enjoyed Yosh’s sandwiches in the past, so I was pretty excited. Upon arrival, I noticed the board which features a salad and a sandwich special weekly. The permanent menu boasts an additional 5 – 6 salad options, as well as several tasty sounding sandwiches that were definitely off limits today. I settled on the salmon nicoise with green beans, olives, capers, potatoes and a nice piece of salmon served on a bed of mixed greens with a lemon vinaigrette. The salad arrived and it looked great. The green beans had a nice fresh crunch to them, the capers and olives added salty elements, and the potatoes were a surprisingly nice item in the salad, offering a unique texture you really wouldn’t expect. The salmon was cooked nicely, but it seemed to have some sort of teriyaki glaze on it, which, while tasty, was a surprise or something I missed in the description. The other surprise, and reason for Three Stars, was the sand and grit I got with the greens. It kept popping up about every second or third bite, and was definitely unpleasant but I did put it out of my mind, right until the last bite that was a total mouthful and forced me to spit it out. I plan to let the ownership know about this the next time I visit if they don’t read this. It’s an easily avoided situation, so It certainly won’t keep me from returning.

I love this place! It is wonderful! I am a HUGE sandwich lover and can’t say enough how great this place is! What’s great is that these aren’t yoir typical sandwichs. They are each quite unique and very tasty! The fresh breads are incredible! Our favorites have been the tri-tip, cinque terra, reuben, and the portabella! All wonderful! Not to mention, their soups and salads are wonderful also! The other fun thing about this restaurant is that you can order a sandwich and have it delivered to Whispering Vine just down the way! Such a great place!

Nestled in a bit of a dreary highway stretch of fast food options, Yosh’s is a delicious and affordable deli. What the place lacks in décor and setting(a fairly utilitarian space in a mini-mall), it more than makes up for in flavor. The deli menu spans the typical offerings but with a number of signature takes on beloved sandwiches such as meatloaf or Thanksgiving-style turkey. A nice touch was the ability to choose from a variety of breads including French, Dutch crunch, sweet onion, and Parmesan pesto. We enjoyed cups of creamy tomato & red pepper soup followed by the day’s special of hot pastrami with chorizo gravy, which we put on a Parmesan pesto bun. I wish the bread wasn’t quite so soft so it could stand up to the sauce and meat, but the sandwich was undeniably tasty. For those who like to support family owned establishments with a bit of history, be sure to read about Yosh’s three-generation heritage in a newspaper article framed on the wall.

This is NOT a typical deli !!! Ok, I’m biased after only living here in south Reno for a year(retired government California), I’m a twice monthly regular. I found this spot when I was first looking to move in 2014. The soups and many other items are made from scratch fresh daily, the weekly specials are the bomb and rotate. The ambiance is relaxing and staff friendly, patient(so much to choose from) and an outdoor patio during the summer with a view. Today I brought a good buddy in who had the French dip and I had the beef melt on soft sourdough. WOW! Try their unsweetened iced teas! I try and stay away from sugar, except my wine at night. Lol. My favs… tri tip smoked, salads(all), any soup and their hasn’t been a special I haven’t enjoyed. The food here is the type where you leave and go about your day, two hours later your thinking, man that was a good lunch.

I’ve been here on many lunch breaks and always have enjoyed great food. Everything on the menu sounds delicious, so it’s tough to decide what to get. I usually get whatever the special is, and I have loved it every time. The sandwiches are soooo tasty and the salads are amazing too. They have a lot of choices for sides but my favorite is the cucumber salad. They also have fresh baked goodies at the counter too. The cookies are delicious, worth every penny. I’ll definitely be back again soon.

I really wanted to like this place. I love sandwiches. Seriously. A solid sandwich has just got it dialed. But something was just off(perhaps I should have taken a hint from the fact that their website spells it sandwHich…). I had their special, which was corned beef, cheese, slaw, and a red pepper mustard. On its face, should be awesome. But the meat was extremely fatty, so I had to leave nearly half of it on the plate. And although I really wanted to like the rest of the sandwich, the mustard was virtually inedible. Some folks might like it, but I wasn’t one of them, which is really a shame, because I usually love mustards. But it was strangely sweet, and the sheer amount ruined the otherwise awesome bread. My partner had a Cinqueterra, a sandwich with turkey, provolone, aioli. Unfortunately the aioli was over-garlicked and again ruined what could have been an otherwise great sandwich. I probably would have given it three stars(for the fatty meat), but I just couldn’t get past the sauces.

Yosh’s Unique Deli is anything but unique. The food is simple, the atmosphere is plain, and the prices are what you’d expect for a deli in south Reno. I’ve been a few times and I’ve never been impressed, or left excited to go again. The last time I went I had the meatball sandwich, but the meatballs tasted more like meatloaf, and the tomato sauce was overly sweet and lacked any other flavors(or were masked by the sweetness). The pickle on the side was the best part of my meal, but it also wasn’t that good. The staff was friendly, and my food arrived in just over 5 minutes. With a tip I was out the door for just about $ 10 which I was pleased with. Overall Yosh’s Unique Deli is a decent option for lunch in the area, but I would consider other options first.

If you are in this part of town and in need of food I guess this would suffice. The price range may be $$ but the portion size is pretty small so that makes the price higher. Order at the counter before seating yourself, get your own drink,(don’t bother with the«tropical iced tea,» it has no flavor of tea or fruit!) Since we were there in the late afternoon and only one other table was occupied I thought or order would come out rapidly. Not so. We only ordered cold sandwiches so I don’t know what the holdup was. I had the Cinque Terra sandwich and yes, it has a bit of aioli on it but it was still a very dry sandwich. I asked for some mayo to help it out. Why they bother to put that less than paper thin slice of prosciutto on the sandwich I’ll never figure out as you cannot taste it at all. Bus your own table when finished. I’m probably finished too… with Yosh’s.

Safe place for sandwiches albeit a tad pricey. Cinque Terra has either mild or super-garlicky aioli — which frankly it needs as the extreme thinness of the slices of cheese, prosciutto and turkey make the sandwich quite bland. A turkey and Swiss on sweet French was fresh however virtually tasteless — even with honey mustard. People were very nice and the strip mall is quaint with a nice outdoor seating area. Perhaps we ordered wrong or the sandwich combos need some revising to introduce more flavor.

Break the chain of subways and port of subs… At the south end of Reno is a small collection of locally owned shops and restaurants. Today we tried Yoshi’s. A great deli with plenty of inside seating and beautiful outside seating on the west side. There are two counters– the left one is for phone in orders, the right one you walk up to and place your order. Two large chalk boards behind the counter lists the sandwich and salad choices. You can even create your own. I really liked the small basket of bread choices at the counter, it made it really easy to pick the type of bread I wanted for my sandwich. Today we tried the cinque terra, turkey, provolone cheese, aioli, tomatoe bruschetta, lettuce and prosciutto. $ 5 for half size and $ 8 for whole. The bread was so incredibly fresh and soft, my choice was the Parmesan crusted– mmmm the flavor. I will be back a few more times this summer after golf.

I pretty much always want Thanksgiving dinner, how bout you? Well I can’t be the only one in town to think this way because sandwiches with all of the Thanksgiving dinner fixings have started popping up all around town. Let me be honest, this wasn’t the best one I’ve had. Yosh’s calls it The Gobler. It has roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and aioli. You can add lingonberries for .50 extra. I placed my order, added the lingonberries, asked for a cup to have water with my lunch before waiting to go sit outside. I love they have they have a covered patio. I like being outside but my fair skin burns easily so I am always looking for shade if I want to sit outside. The weather was gorgeous so it was the perfect day to sit outside. My wife and I chatted while waiting for our meals to be brought to the table. They arrived about 10 minutes after we ordered. My half of a sandwich was a bit disappointing. I loved everything about it but the fact that there were only a few very small pieces of turkey to be found inside. I need more meat. This sandwich left me hungry for something else because it just wasn’t filling. I am usually full with a half of a sandwich but this one just didn’t work for me. The customer service was good but I would try another sandwich next time.

Very tasty. Today was my first time going in. They have a decent sized menu with sandwiches, salads, and soups. I overheard some people talking about the dessert being too good to share. I had the portabella sandwich. It had mushrooms, anaheim peppers, pepper jack cheese and lots of delishness going on. I got mine on the pesto parmesan bread. It was so soft and flavorful! I grabbed a bag of funky fusion chips and an iced tea. The chips were not for me. They had a vinegar taste to them. The tea was outstanding. It was a tropical one. Yum. Cost me a pretty penny though, $ 12.10 for lunch.

I’m a sucker for a meatloaf sandwich. I love that you can get a half sandwich at a decent price. It was the perfect size for me. I don’t get to this part of town often so this was my first visit. It was quite busy on a Tuesday afternoon. Most of the tables were occupied. The line went quick and it took less time than expected for my food. The staff are friendly and attentive. They checked up on me after bringing the food to see if everything was okay. It was a very basic meatloaf sandwhich but quite good with s home cooked appeal. I’m hope to get back there and try something different soon.

Great sandwich. Love the marble rye worth pastrami. Patio seating on a lovely day makes the experience so much better. Will come back for sure.

Given how many reviews and stars this place has, I thought I was going to a legit deli. Unfortunately this place is no deli at all. Bread was thin and average, they did not offer quality meat(from what I observed) and there was a definite lack of ingredients. I got the half size portobello sandwich on parmesan herb bread, recommended by the fellow who took my order. When I got it, it was literally portobello, cheese and whatever other ingredients they slyly wrote on the board but failed to deliver. It was the puniest sandwich I’ve ever laid eyes on. I’m honesty concerned for Reno’s sandwich expectations and their definition of a deli.

I stopped in for a quick lunch. It was my first visit and will most likely be my last to this deli. It’s more of an upscale sandwich shop than a deli. They have a nice storefront and patio seating so it has ambience. I ordered the beef tri-tip on sourdough. It comes with aioli(garlic mayonnaise) and havarti cheese with pickled onions. You order at the counter and can see the deli salads in a cold display case– tuna, chicken, potato salad, etc. The menu is written decoratively on chalkboard and there are daily specials. It looked very clean and was well-maintained. I ordered the half sandwich and house salad combo, about $ 10.00. The woman who took my order was nice, as was the tableside delivery of my meal. Presentation was attractive. The problem, to paraphrase Clara Peller from the Wendy’s commercials years ago, was, «Where’s the beef?» There was such a small amount of paper-thin shaved beef that I was literally looking where it had hidden. There must be more than this! No, there was not. The penurious amount of meat on the sandwich was not a problem when I tasted the meat. It tasted like liquid smoke. Not exactly a luscious piece of tri-tip that I had envisioned. Everything was cold and hard, from bread to cheese. I guess the sandwiches can be heated but I hadn’t been told. However, applying heat to this sandwich would do it no favors. I got down a few bites and then tried the salad. A nice blend of fresh mesclun-type mix, with cranberries, cucumbers, caramelized pecans, more pickled onions, and croutons made from what appeared to be their leftover sandwich buns. I again tried a few bites but this was just not working for me. I left by the side entrance. This is a cute little sandwich place for ladies who lunch. It’s not a deli. There are no sweaty guys ladling out matzo ball soup in the back kitchen nor generously filled pastrami sandwiches with stacks of meat. You’re in South Reno, and it’s a nice place to chat with friends, most of whom will be WASPS. And I don’t mean insects. It is what it is, and if you like fruit in your salads, I can highly recommend this restaurant. I’ll continue to find lunch spots where construction workers eat. I don’t want ambience. I want a lunch that will stick to my ribs, baby.

These are my kind of sandwiches! Yosh’s has a great assortment of signature sandwiches, as well as a nice of list of ingredients to build your own. I’ve never had their salads — I’m usually here because I’m craving a sandwich, but their salad combinations are almost enough to make me change my mind. They always have monthly specials for soups and sandwiches. My favorite sandwich is the Cinque Terra(turkey, prosciutto, bruschetta, provolone). I got it on the pesto bread this last time. Highly recommended(I’d probably eat that bread all by itself!) This was a great combination of flavors and I savored every bite. I’m only a little disappointed about the size vs. cost. I was left still wanting more(a cup of soup would have been a nice addition), and at $ 8.60, I would liked something a little bigger. I’ve only ever gotten take-out from here, so I can’t comment too much on the service. They were a little busy the last time I was in there(it was a Friday, but also Nevada Day so a lot of people had the day off). The cashiers handled it well and were friendly and working hard to get everyone’s orders in. If you’re short on time, you can always call your order in and pick it up. This parking lot, for some reason, is always packed(too many popular businesses in such a small center?). Good luck on finding that parking spot!

I am working this week in South Reno and decided to head over to Yosh’s for lunch. I have been there before and they never disappoint. Yosh’s is located on Foothill Blvd across the street from Winco on South Virginia. It is a cute place with a very clean, fresh atmosphere. Upon entering I noticed a very long counter with a refrigerator case in the middle. To the right on the wall behind the counter was a rather large menu board. Today I had the half smoked tri-tip sandwich and salad. Just the right amount of food for lunch. I felt satisfied but not weighed down afterwards. The meal arrived quickly and looked appetizing. The house salad comes with croutons, cranberries, candied nuts, tomatoes, caramelized onions, and cucumbers and is served with shallot vinaigrette on the side. The sweetness of the nuts and cranberries were complimented by the tangy flavor of the vinaigrette. Yosh’s has a variety of bread to choose from including dutch crunch, pesto parmesan, sweet French, sourdough, and Swiss onion. The Swiss onion caught my eye as I had never heard of that before and when I asked the server what she recommended with tri tip, she also suggested the Swiss onion. Great choice. The bread was soft like it had just come out of the oven and tasted wonderful with the combination of flavors in the smoked tri tip. The sandwich comes with grilled onions, havarti cheese and aioli. I was really taken with the creaminess of the cheese. I think I am a fan of havarti after this. I know I have had it in other things but for some reason, it really stood out in this sandwich. Another thing I was impressed with in this sandwich was the meat. The tri tip was so tender I could bite through each piece without pulling the meat out of the sandwich. There was absolutely no gristle.

I went off the board and had the pastrami special. Probably one of the best pastrami sandwiches I’ve ever had. The difference? The addition of caramelized onions to go along with the sweet and spicy mustard. I despise dijon and yellow mustard is pretty bland. The unique potato salad with dill was also very good. The Swiss-onion homemade bread was the final component that made the sandwich complete. Service was friendly and prompt. A great find in Reno!
