What? I can’t believe I haven’t written a review of Himalayan Café yet. I’ve been here about 4 times now, and each time have enjoyed the visit. The staff is always super friendly, and while they’re busy, there’s always a table available. My absolute favorite appetizer is the cauliflower. Oh my, I’ve never come across this dish anywhere before. It is delicious, and more importantly, the kids just gobble it up! The cauliflower is lightly breaded and mildly covered in a sweet(almost like sweet chili) sauce. It is accompanied by a small side of slaw. The flavors are great. Before I even sit down, I make sure to get some papadum. Not all Indian places offer papadum, and I’m always satisfied when I get some. I wish more places offered it. The mango curry is divine! They offer different proteins. I tried the shrimp once and don’t recommend it. It was severely overcooked and stiff as cardboard. The lamb or chicken options work great. Both the fish and chicken pakora dishes are great. Not greasy or overly cooked. The chicken tikka masala aka butter chicken(they have both on the dish but apparently they are the same dish; the masala has dark meat while the butter chicken is white meat) are delicious and don’t disappoint. When the curry dishes come out, I always feel slight disappointment because the dishes look so puny, but after eating it, I realize the portion is just perfect. I’m usually taking leftovers home even. They offer a myriad of naan options. I always go for garlic, but they have stuffed naans to your liking. Definitely will be one of my go-to w/kid options from now on.

This is a wonderful restaurant for those seeking authentic Indian food. Ate dinner here for the first time with my daughters and we love it! The one flaw that I noticed was the meat and sauce in the lamb biryani was a little too short, it came out dry. The staff is very attentive and polite, atmosphere is great! We will definitely come back!

Good food. Great service. The guys there are so nice. Always making sure everything is okay. The samosas and Khasi Ko Masu were good. Mulligatawny Soup and Mumbai Vindaloo wasn’t that great. After all that and a glass of wine bill came out to be $ 60. Not bad. Would come again to try the lunch buffet.

This is the only Indian place that I know of that has a lunch buffet on Saturday. I was actually impressed with their food. My previous experience at an Indian buffet left me never wanting to go again, and that was about 7 years ago. At Himalayan Café, they had tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, paneer, vegetable pakora, goat curry, mushroom dish, fish, and several more. They also had a salad bar and DESSERT! Fresh naan is included in the buffet. Everything was delicious, but my favorites were the tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, chile fish, and vegetable pakora. For dessert, there was rice pudding and mango mousse(more like pudding). I was definitely surprised by the quality of this buffet and will probably be back for more.

This place was a hit and miss for my husband and I. Garlic Naan and tikka masala were delicious! Unfortunately, the tandoori chicken was way too dry… So I will definitely come back if I have a craving, but would stay away from undrenched chicken, lol. I love sauces, so I enjoyed it a lot with rice.

First time eating here. Nice clean facility, friendly greeting when you arrive. Quality of the food and the presentation was excellent. We started with the Mulligatwny soup, then I had the Mumbai chicken vindaloo and my friend had the Himalayan lamb curry. Again, everything was very flavourful. The service was excellent as well. Will be back when in the area again.

The best place for buffet and the best place to sit and eat with friends and family. Would recommend this place to anyone and I do. Everyone agrees with me. Don’t complain about price because this place is very reasonable with pricing especially for the quality of food. The establishment is kept very clean. Always friendly from the moment I come in to the point when I am leaving. This place is a real gem.

The food, atmosphere, cleanliness are all great. The flavors of the entrées are great and mild. not overly spicy. Daily buffet from 11am-3pm for $ 11.95. There are only two areas that can be improved. 1. The variety of entrées on the buffet is less than most other places. So if you want to sample more dishes this is not the place to do it. 2. They charged my 5 year old $ 7.95 and she only had some rice, naan, and oranges. They should consider a $ 5.95 price point which I believe is more fair for kids her age.

Ordered delivery to work office . Service: friendly and efficient! They understand the time constraints of lunch breaks. the portions came as family style, it would have been helpful if they labeled/divided by individual orders since it was for individuals in the office. Roti/naan– huge portions and warm. Cilantro/white sauce/and tamarind sauce was the best I’ve ever had. Butter chicken(got chicken and lamb) — both creamy with good tomato tastes. Cauliflower– perfectly seasoned Tandoori chicken– good, slightly dry Samosas– office hit Mango lassi– good but didn’t look like fresh mango color. Rice– plenty, but there were chunks of big seed like things they use for flavors that I accidentally and painfully bit into.

Came back with the madre for dinner the other night, and was completely blown away. Had the Himalayan goat dish and chicken Tikka masala. The goat was very tender, and season extremely well. The Tikka masala was probably the best Tikka I’ve ever had. The chicken was very fresh, and also seasoned well(just amount of salt and spice!) Like I said before, I knew we’d be back for more. I’ll say it again, we’ll be back again to try more of these bodacious meals!

These guys were great. I liked the bamboo shoots with potato, eggplant curry, cabbage stir fry and they mix the best caesar salad for a buffet! Away from the predictable dishes like saag paneer, they supply pleasand surprises… Service was also good.

I’ve eaten here several times now and figured it was about time I wrote a review… Especially because the food is really good. I have been here for lunch several times and each time staff were always very pleasant and attentive. They are always quick with refills, bringing naan to the table or asking if there’s anything else I need. I have even had a great conversation with the manager about Nepal. It has been awhile since I have been to Nepal but it is one of my favorite destinations. I also enjoy Nepali food and it was great to find a restaurant that makes quality Nepali food. Tye décor of the restaurant is bright and colorful and there are even some prayer flags and a large Buddha statue. There is even a small stupa and one of those typical Nepali carved window settings. It is also very clean and they use cloth napkins which I always prefer. I have had the chai and it was really good, usually I just get water but I really enjoy the balance of spices in the chai. If you like tea, give it a try. The last time I went I got the buffet and it was very good. I usually only get one plate because the food is so filling. There are a lot of options and there is something for everyone including fish and goat as well as many vegetarian options with paneer. I thought the tandoori chicken was well seasoned and the pieces of chicken were quite large and also very juicy. Many places have very dry tandoori chicken but not here! It’s always been perfect! There is also a dessert section where you can get some great tasting sweets including rice pudding and Gulab Jamun. Gulab Jamun are warm spongey small cake-balls that are fried and soaked in rose scented sweet syrup! Wow, they were really good! I really like this restaurant and even if you get the buffet you will still get excellent service with a smile. I will definitely return! Thanks for a great dining experience!

Hands down the BEST Buffet. I’ve eaten at many and everything about this place was exceptional(this is a 4+ Star restaurant and I’ve yet to give a 5)! Excellent salad bar, entrees, and even dessert. And they bring out hot naan to your table. I’ll be back!

They have momos. ‘Nuff said. I love momos. Momos are basically dumplings and are filled with either chicken or a vegetarian filling. They have a lovely korma that makes my tummy sing with happiness… and makes me super happy as well. Their naan is lovely and soft… and doesn’t taste like bleach. The owners are wonderfully welcoming and so very friendly. It’s right next door to a coffee house that happens to serve Peet’s coffee! :) Whether you come here for their fabulous lunch buffet(Mondays — saturdays from 11am to 3pm) or dinner, you won’t be disappointed. It’s clean and portion sizes are generous.

This is some of the best Indian food I’ve had! While visiting my sister who lives nearby, we ordered take-out from Himalayan twice, it was so good we craved it! The dishes we tried are all very delicious, and really inexpensive for the quality and quantity. We tried: Chicken tikka masala, Garlic naan, the goat dish and a fried fish. I was pleasantly surprised to find such great and cheap food here as the Indian food we have in Hawaii is much more expensive and not nearly as good. The staff here is very friendly and service is quick. I can’t wait to visit again and eat here!

I really enjoyed my dinner here. Husband and I drove past here when we were running errands and I remember I had bookmarked this place a while back. We ordered roti, tikka masala, nepali goat curry and a Taj Mahal beer. We decided to have everything 3 stars spicy and it was perfect. All was very tasty. The goat was tender and flavorful. We initially thought the portion was too small however in the end it was perfect and we even left with some leftover. Service was fantastic. My water glass remain full the whole time I did not need to flag server down to get service, restaurant was clean and welcoming. The owner who was also my server was very nice and polite and check on us throughout our meal. One thing though is this place is definitely not cheap! Dinner for two came to almost $ 60 including tips, but I’m happy to have a place like in Renton.

I really enjoyed my recent dinner experience here. My friend and I love to try out new places to dine and this spot was conveniently located to our work. We were pleasantly greeted by the owner who is also the owner of the coffee/tee/fro yo shop next door! He graciously provided information on his variety of dishes and recommended a few dishes to try. While we waited, we were served free Roti appetizer with dipping sauces. With the recommendations of Unilocal we both kept our dishes a a medium level of spice which was good for both of us. Our dining experience included fish curry, coconut chicken curry and momo(potsticker), garlic naan. The owner recommended the chicken momo as the most flavourful. We happily found out that they make their own dough for the«potsticker». Unfortunately, this appetizer only comes in a 10 piece which made for a lot of left overs. Nepali curry tastes savory and gravy-like vs Indian butter curry. Very nice. I really really really love the garlic naan! If you enjoy garlic, garlic is what you get! tons of it! the best part was smelling the garlic when the food was coming to our table. I defnitely will come back and possibly try the lunch buffet to get tib bits of the variety of dishes!

The owner Passat(sp?) is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I hope to see his business thrive. As for the business… The restaurant has an incredible atmosphere. I love that they play Indian music… it makes it feel even more authentic. While I waited for my food I had a masala chai that was so tasty. I ordered the Rogan Josh which is very close to my favorite Punjabi. It was spicy but oh my gosh the flavors were amazing. I also had the garlic naan which, as the owner said, I was not disappointed. I will make this a regular spot for me when I’m in town.

A new and spicy place! I have been waiting for this place to finally open and I recently got the chance with friends to try this restaurant out! When we first came in, there was about one or two other people there but we came after the lunch rush(around 2:30−3 pm). The place was clean and very inviting with all the different kinds of décor. The owner/host was extremely welcoming and treated us like we were family. He gave us recommendations of what to eat since we have never ate Himalayan food before. The three of us decided to eat: (1) My Order: Kukhura Ko Masu(Nepalese Chicken Curry), Mango Lassi (2) Friend A: Kukhura Ko Masu, Iced Chai (3) Friend B: Khasi Ko Masu(Nepalese Goat Curry), Plain Lassi and we shared one naan. There are multiple levels of spiciness and we all ordered mild. We got our drinks first, Friend A liked her chai and Friend B loved her plain lassi. My mango lassi was amazing and was definitely fresh. The drink wasn’t overly sweet and was relying on the sweetness of the mango. One of the waiters also gave us a nice crispy bread appetizer(wasn’t sure of the name) and three cold sauces. He told us what was in each sauce but either way, the crispy bread was a great little teaser of what was to come. The Kukhura Ko Masu was really delicious with all the different spices and had a good kick for mild. The waiter also gave us a large bowl of basmati rice that was more than enough for all(it was about a serving for four). They gave a good amount of chicken/goat within the curry. The naan was big and fresh. The food was filing and two of us brought home some leftovers. We were curious if they had any specials for dessert and the owner said there would be a great variety coming soon(like soft served gelato) and told us that he also owned the Everest Tea and Coffee House next door in which the desserts would come from. He also told us about trying out the lunch buffet next time since there are more options of Indian/Nepalese food. TL;DR: Great food and great service. Nepalese curry is amazing, avoid if you cannot handle any sort of spice. Totally recommend and cannot wait to come back.
