I love their ahi poke tacos so much I wanna marry it! Just kidding. Lol but no seriously. It’s soo freakin good. I’m salivating just thinking about it lol. The boyfriend likes their Philly cheesesteak flautas. Which is also really good. But the ahi poke tacos will always be my first love. *swooon

This review is for the Carne Asada fries! ! The cilantro cream sauce they add totally elevates it. I’m very bummed this cart is located in Renton cuz I’m in Seattle but that being said I would totally drive to Renton for those fries. That’s says a lot! I’ll have to try their other stuff sometime

I finally tried People of the Chubbs food truck during the Seattle Street Fair Festival, and waited in the long line that seems to never cease wherever this trucks goes. The anticipation may have helped cause my disappointment with this place because I didn’t think it was as amazing as I had hoped. I finally tried the carne asada fries with sour cream for 11 bucks(a dollar extra for sour cream). The fries were good, definitely, but would I have stood in line for 30 minutes for them? Hell no. Secondly you’d think for 11 bucks for fries there would be a hefty amount of steak, but unfortunately, it was skimped out on. And then you’re paying a dollar extra for a small scoop of sour cream. No. Also, the couple who went up to order for me was paying with a card and the cashier asked if they instead had cash and after they said no, she looked pissed and was short with them. When she asked me if I had any cash, which I didn’t and proceeded to pay with card, she again looked pissed. Sorry to ruin your day? There were two other guys in the truck who were making all the food and they were in a much better mood than her.

Alas! They are always out of poke bowls when I get there but one day I will try it :). Anyways had the loco moco which I was really impressed with — the burger quality was great, gravy was light and full of flavor and balanced out with the egg and onions. So good. I also tried the carne asada fries and those were bomb. And somehow the fries stayed crispy under all the toppings. will definitely have that again! Hope they will make their way out to the Redmond side sometime!

Great food awesome service. We came close to closing time but we were still greeted with a friendly smile. With a van full of of hungry kids we were excited to find them before they close. We ordered the carne asada, fries, tacos, and chubby a burger with extra egg. They were all delicious. The sauce on the fries was awesome. Definitely plan on coming back.

Experienced the food truck during the 2015 Bite of Seattle. This place had the best food out of the entire event. I really enjoyed the flautas. Looking forward to trying more from Chubbs menu.

Been here a few times and have tried the Ahi Poke Bowl plus the Carne Asada Fries. Both dishes are delicious. The poke is fresh, with some kind of sauce that is addicting and adds good flavor. I have to say the last time I ordered it though, it had more raw onion flavor than I prefer or just something that my palate was not a fan of. However, I’ve had cravings for the Carne Asada Fries — they’re that good! Somehow they keep the fries really crispy with all the meat and toppings that go on top, not making the fries soggy, it’s amazing. I do feel the pricing is just a tad high for some of the items, but at least the food is pretty filling. Definitely worth trying if you’re into Asian flavors! Just follow their Instagram to find out where they’re located for the day.

First of all thank you for the directions! I was originally going to choose the mahi mahi tacos, but noticed everyone was trying the Chubb’s burger. Interesting flavors… a little too greasy for me… I’d like to try the Mahi Mahi tacos next!

Holy sh! t this was good. I had been following this truck for a couple months now but their weekday lunch schedule and rotating locations don’t really work for me. When I saw on Instagram that they were serving on a Sunday, I had to make it over there! It wasn’t on the calendar on their website, btw, so best thing to do if you’re stalking the truck is to check IG in the morning. They do post every morning to announce that day’s location and menu. The line was pretty slow moving but not too bad. My BF and I had the burger and carne asada fries. A lot of people were ordering the ahi poke tacos and they looked so amazing. But gosh our food was *so* good. We killed the fries like we hadn’t eaten in days. The crispy fried tempura bacon added such a nice crunch to the burger. I can’t wait to try this place again!

People of the Chubbs stopped by work and I was really excited to see a new truck that I hadn’t tried before. Everything on their menu looked appealing… I was torn between the Chubbs burger and the carne asada fries. I decided to go with da burger and added a side of fries. The burger is a good size, has a brioche bun, and those sly dogs put a piece or two of tempura battered bacon in there as well. Not too shabby! I will say though, the burger is pretty rich and I prob could have forgone the fries and been good. I will definitely give them another whirl when they come around, and chapter 2 will be a story of inner conflict… carne asada or loco moco.

Their Carne Asada Fries are A1. Literally the best I ever tried and my favorite! Their Chubbs Burger is good too. Their food are pricey but hey I say it’s most definitely worth it and fills you up! I think their traveling truck is unique, catch them on IG to know where their next location is. They are some chill dudes who makes and serves good food.

Everything is so tasty! Everyone is pretty friendly. My only complaint is that they’re not responsive on social media. Can’t get answers to find them if they don’t answer. I also wish they would bring the 12th man dog back. Because that is amaaaaaazing! Oh and their tempura fried bacon is off the chain.

Probably the only truck I keep going back to. The carne asada fries are my go to, but the poke bowl and loco moco are my other faves. The spam musubi is also a good one! Definitely not good for my diet.

Fairly good quality for a food truck. Follow them on Instagram to see where they’ll be next. Unfortunately, they don’t really update their website, so Instagram is the only way to find them. I don’t think they’re open every week, but when they’re around town I try to visit. Their loco moco is really savory without being overwhelming. I would suggest ordering the fried spam to go along with it. It’s an extra charge, but the way they fry their spam is perfect — not too heavy or crispy. I could probably eat an entire dish of it if my heart would allow it. Service is extremely friendly, which makes the whole experience. Otherwise, I find that their Hawaiian fusion food is just good old comfort food, but nothing that really reinvents the wheel.

So, it was finally lunch time for me at work, and I was headed out to the building across the street to grab some food from the cafeteria. I was ecstatic to see a food truck at the car shop nearby and that it was a food truck that I actually wanted to try! I first saw this food truck at the Chinatown night market, but it was so crowded, and I was probably so full that i couldn’t try it at that time. I was debating about getting the chubbs burger, or the loco moco. I opted for the loco moco. and then i was torn — should i have an original loco moco or have it with spam? But for $ 1 more, i could have both so why not? lol I really, really, really liked it with the spam. it was so good. When I got back to my desk, I was gonna take a picture, but forgot because I was so hungry. I’m happy that they are going to start being regulars at the Boeing Renton site. I already have it marked on my calendar hahah.

I’ve seen People of the Chubbs around town and had a chance to try a number of things. On a hot summer day, I decided to sample their cherry calamansi lemonade. Loved it! I have a soft spot for any type of calamansi drink so I was an easy sell. Sweet, tart, and ice cold! Very refreshing! On another day, I tried the deep fried musubi. Wow! Being from Hawaii, I eat a lot of musubi and make it myself pretty often. The outside stayed nice and crisp. The batter had a bit of tempura feel to it. Inside, it was nice and soft — white rice and Spam. Oh, the Spam! It was topped with a sauce that reminded me of kewpie mayo. It was really filling and I’m pretty sure it was $ 4 or $ 5. A nice price point for a snack on the go. On yet another day, I tried the ahi poke bowl. The chucks were uniform, smaller sized, but it worked. It was on a bed of greens so it reminded me more of an ahi poke salad. The sauce did not work well with the dish. The flavors did not blend, it was a bit grainy, and there was way too much of it. I was sharing it with a few folks and none of them liked it so I had to eat it all myself. :-(The fish was decent quality which is really half the battle with poke. With a bit of tweaking on the sauce(amount, texture, and flavor) it could be a really great dish. Overall, I like this truck and I’m looking forward to trying more of the menu.

I’ve been eyeing this place for about a month now and I finally had the chance to see what all the hype was about! And let me tell you, I was not disappointed! I had the opportunity of visiting people of the chubbs at the Bite of Seattle and ordered two of the three featured items they were offering which were their famous chicken flautas and their carne asada fries. The other option was the ahi tuna poke salad. The process of ordering was super fast and my food also came out quickly as well. The flautas reminded me of taco time’s crisp burritos but even better because of the drizzle of the dressing on top and because it was super cheesy. The carne asada fries were heavennnn. I honestly can’t even describe how it tasted because it was so good. I would definitely get this again if it was offered. Sour cream and guac was each a dollar extra. Got a small amount of both which kinda sucked. But everything still turned out good. Service was also super friendly! Please come to south seattle, people of the chubbs :(I promise I will be a regular!

I tried out this food truck this past weekend and was pleased with it. The only bad thing was that I ordered the Ahi Poke Tacos. but…there was no ‘taco’ part and it was more like a salad, which honestly was probably ‘healthier’ for me anyways to not eat any carbs. The line was long and there were a lot of people waiting so I didn’t really want to bother with bothering them. The tuna itself though was really good and not overly seasoned. I think the arugula paired with it really nicely! The other negative I have to mention is the amount of time it took for me(and a few customers before me) to actually receive my food and I even got my food before a couple people(I heard them complaining and it always feels awkward when you get your food before someone else). I think the slower service just comes with the territory of opening a new food truck – there’s still little things to tweak and work on to time everything so I understand that because I’ve seen this happen to other food trucks before and I have noticed their food delivery being more efficient over time. Other than that though. I liked the idea and concept of the menu and definitely want to try these guys out again, especially the Chubbs Cheese Burger and deep fried spam musubi!

Brand new food truck! Food here so far is pretty good. Fresh ingredients and refreshing flavors. Some aspects of flavors include some filipino, asian, and american influences. Not too salty which is a plus for me. Was very happy that when i ordered the fish tacos not only did they suggest the fried cod but was happy to do a grilled version as well. Overall as a new food truck I know they will get better with time and will be successful. The owners are great a friendly and very approachable. Thanks Chubbs. Go and give them a try. Cheddar206
