The food is great! But I am giving three stars because of services. I think they are short handed so be very patient.. and i mean very

I always used to come here for their $ 4 chicken biriyani(pretty decent with four pieces of chicken usually). They give so much for carry out that I can eat it for two meals. Their boneless chicken biriyani(weekend special) is really good! It has yogurt on top and veggies on the side. I also like their flavorful butter chicken. Checking in gets you free Chameli chai($ 1). Their lassi isn’t worth it so do yourself a savor and save your $ 3.

I feel conflicted over this review, because the prices were good and the food wasn’t bad, but they delivered our small order two hours after we ordered it on a slow Monday night. Also, when I called and asked if they had chicken tikka masala, they said yes and it was called butter chicken. I’ve had a ton of both in my life and know the difference between them; when I asked further, they said they didn’t have tikka. Here are the pros: — naan was good — ended up getting butter chicken, which was very good(but chicken was tough) — rice pudding was excellent — lentils and beef were good — biryani had great flavor but was so greasy that I don’t know if I’d order it again

M asala spice in every bite… E eat it all and sleep happy tonight… L entils are called daal don’t you forget I ndian, Pakistani, and Bengali you’ll fill up on this Biryani! I have no complaints about my many visits to Chameli. The price is great and the portions, plenty, just one tip if your a spice wuss like me, ask for a side of yogurt, and enjoy! Butter chicken has a nice ginger taste, and biryani is plentiful, and filling.

If you like east Indian flavors — this is the place to eat. Authentic Calcutta biryani(except that the potatoes are missing). Exclusive offering — boneless biryani served from 11 pm — 3 am on Fri and Sat. It comes with a side salad and pre mixed ‘raita’(curd based sauce already mixed with the main dish). Awesome food for after party hours — and rice is so good for putting you to a good night sleep: p. Only thing you need to be aware of is the wait time. Have a little patience and you won’t be disappointed with what you get served.

They have specials on Friday and Saturday with chickpea over rice, chicken over rice and have been plenty of times. Love the place !! A definitely recommended for Indian comfort food !! 1 recommendation is to update the timings for Friday and Saturday till 3:00AM to avoid confusion

Great place with great prices! The menu is simple. Small enough but with plenty of options. Servings are always large, there are usually some deals or perks on Unilocal, and wifi available! You pay at the counter and they serve you at the table. I love this place! The staff has always been great every time I’ve gone.

I’ve always heard criticism about this place, but personally I’ve never had any reason to complain. I’ve been to Chameli about 4 times and every time, the biriyani was good. I’ve lived in Hyderabad and I know how good biriyani tastes for real, and Chameli makes it pretty well. Not authentic, but it is good. It is true that they don’t serve it with Raita, but then the restaurant is kinda self service and they have green chutney and raita on the counter in squeezy bottles and I find that acceptable enough. Their serving portions are very generous and they give you a lot of meat with the biriyani so that’s always a good experience. I think their best dish is biriyani, and I recommend this place. For the price you pay for the food, it is well worth it.

You get what you pay for. I don’t think they even know what biryani is. Biryani is terrible with jalapenos and cilantro. LOL who puts jalapeño and cilantro in their biryani. This place doesn’t carry anything like Indian or Bangladesh food Yeh they do give enough rice to feed three people, but count their meat portions. Not original at all. I would not recommend The girl in reception has major attitude issue. No wonder she is working at a restaurant. lol Not recommended.

I don’t care much for Indian/Bengali food unless it’s my own mother’s cooking. But chameli has got it going on, my friend! They even started a new midnight menu for the weekends. So after I’m done sinning at Sultan’s, I come here and grab me a bowl of the good stuff. I appreciate that the food is still fresh even during late hours. I’d also recommend this place for a first casual date. While the flavors dance on your pallette, they don’t linger. And I think it’s because they chill out on the onions and garlic so your breath doesn’t blow your date away. I’d say after my meal that I could get away with a quick smooch from Omar and he wouldn’t even notice that I ate desi food for dinner.

Been driving past this place for years, so today, with time on my hands, I stopped in to try it. Biryani is not a dish I normally get when enjoying foods from the sub-continent. But since that is in there name, I went for the house specialty. Mutton Biryani: aka an adult lamb, goat is a flavorful meat that should work well with this spicy rice dish. The mutton is served«asian» style, small bones and all so you have to use your fingers. The flavors are good, rice correctly spiced, half boiled egg on top was a nice touch. For $ 8.99, you get enough rice to feed the whole table. Wish there was an option to order double– meat or something though. I also got an order of Samosas: one beef and one veggie. They were ok. If you have a rice craving, Biryani is what to get.

Oh, hello, little gem of Richardson! This is undoubtedly the most perfect Indo-bengali joint around Dallas. Fresh, authentic Indian cuisine served in gigantic portions and super reasonably priced, too! We started out with a hot cup of milk tea and samosas(flaky on the outside and filled with savory potatoes and chickpeas). This was already very satisfying on a freezing winter night but one must not stop there. Everyone loved the chicken biryani and buttered chicken. Make sure to add the mint chutney sauce. We ate everything and wiped the plates clean with their fresh, warm naan. Impeccable service, whether you decide to dine in alone, bring a large party or order to go. Definitely will be back for more home cooked goodness!

My parents took me here a few years back and I recently visited again last week. Was prompted by the great experience that I had here. Environment: Nice location with very clean tables and chairs. Unlike most sit down restaurants, the water here is self-serve. There’s a table in the front that has pitchers of cold water and a few mugs and cups. The cashier on the front was very friendly when taking our order and kept stopping to tell us that the food would be «X more minutes». It was great knowing that he didn’t forget about us and the food was well on its way. Food: In my most recent visit, I ordered 2 boxes of biryani(chicken and beef) and 3 samosas. I thought there was a typo on the menu because the chicken was only $ 3.99 for an entire box. The rice is long-grained and packs such a huge flavor punch. My family is Malaysian and we feel that Chameli does a great job of balancing out the spice that comes from the southeastern Asia region. Portion sizes are generous and 1 box can easily feed 2 hungry people. However, I don’t recommend the samosas here. My boyfriend and I usually go to Samosa Hut in Iriving, but we ventured out and tried the ones here. They were good, but the middle of the samosas were cold. Yikes. The flavor was good, but not the best that we’ve had. I would definitely skip on the samosas and stick to the biryani and curry. Good prices for large portion sizes. Very flavorful food. Would recommend to any who is in the mood for Indian.

Okay this was my first visit to Chameli because it’s been awhile since I have had good Indian food. From what I understand this place isn’t exactly Indian but Bangladeshi but hey close enough. I went on a not so busy Saturday afternoon and attempted to use a voucher however I was told they are not accepted as noted on the counter. has it pretty bad with selling nonredeemable vouchers by the way. Chameli has a good menu serving curries, kormas, biryanis and more. I tried the lamb biryani special but wasn’t really impressed; I mean it was just okay. I would return and try a curry or korma. I was given a sample of the sweet sponge ragulla; bit of an acquired taste but cool. Anyhow the food isn’t overpriced so that’s a plus. Service was friendly and fast so worth a try.

This is a nice little spot for authentic Bangladeshi food. The Biryani, which they claim they are famous for, is ok, but not great. You do get a lot of it though, so can’t complain. As others have outlined, the meat dishes here come with a lot of bone in them. The only exception to this is the butter chicken dish, which is top notch! The Korma and Karai(both goat and chicken) are very flavorful and have just the right amount of spice. Unfortunately, on two occasions, I got different temperatures in my food, leading me to believe that some of it is just leftovers heated up in the microwave. The naan is good and the samosas are excellent. Just needs improve a little bit in the consistency department.

Chameli offers affordable Bangladeshi food. The Biryani here comes in one size — HUGE. Prices range from $ 4 for the chicken to $ 9 for the mutton. I went for the value of the chicken biryani and used the savings to try the vegetable samosa, chicken patty, and garlic naan. Chicken Biryani — 3 stars — Not overly spicy and the flavors are all there but the chicken is more bones than meat. But I can’t complain too much for four bucks. Vegetable samosa — 4.5 stars — The best I’ve had in a while. The pastry was crisp and the filling of curried potato and peas was deliciously seasoned. Chicken Patty — 4 stars — Not what you would expect by the name. It’s seasoned ground chicken stuffed inside a puff pastry and served with chutney. Yum! Garlic naan — 4 stars — Thinner than the regular naan and covered with fresh garlic and oil. Overall, I’d say 3.5 stars because the better entrees are priced high enough that I’d rather go hit up an Indian lunch buffet to get more variety.
